Isync thunderbird on IMAC with Nokia E71

I switched from thunderbird for MAC to Mail to be able to isync with my Nokia e71.
However I´m not happy at all with MAIL and want to go back to Thunderbird 2.0.0.18.
Anyone know how I can point isync to thunderbird files so that my nokia E71 synchronizes.
At this moment Isync automatically syncs with MAIL/ICAL/ADRESSBOOK
THX for your help!

iSync doesn't sync mail at all - only Contacts, Calendars and Tasks.
Plus, Thunderbird is not integrated with the Mac OS X SyncServices framework (which iSync uses) so cannot sync with anything on a Mac.

iSync doesn't sync mail at all - only Contacts, Calendars and Tasks.
Plus, Thunderbird is not integrated with the Mac OS X SyncServices framework (which iSync uses) so cannot sync with anything on a Mac.

I'm trying to pair my new iMac with Nokia 302, the pairing seems to work but then phone gives message that service is not allowed by the device

I'm trying to pair my new iMac with Nokia 302 so that I can transfer 202 contacts to iPhone! All my Apple devices pair but the Nokia once acknowledging the apiring closes the connection with message "service not allowed on device" presumably the iMac etc. So what else should I try?

I tried resetting the ipad, switched off wifi, checked date and time.

Every time I tried to browsing using the in built web browser or try viewing email as html, the phone will restart itself !
Tried hard reset via 3 keys combination and reflashing twice, it always the same, after several days, the symptom occurs again and again
It's really a pain to reinstall all the applications, email accounts, web logins, etc, and I was forced to do it twice !
Is there any solution for this ? this problem has become very time consuming, even my other winmo smartphones and Blackberry doesn't give this much headache

I suggest you reinstall the firmware once more and then reformat the E71. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.

Garmin 765 with Nokia E71

Hi,
I have a Garmin 765 Sat Nav and can pair it with my Nokia E71, however, I cannot see my Phonebook on the Sat Nav. I have tried with my iPhone and it works great, would like to use the E71 Phonebook though.
Been looking on the web and it seems lots of people are having the same problem. I have the latest firmware on the E71.

I have the E71X and I purchased the Garmin Nuvi 765T. When I first paired the two devices all went well even the phone book. After a week or so the E71X and the 765T would not connect. I contacted Garmin and they said the E71X was not compatible with the 765T. I told them that they did pair when I first got the 765T. They said that was just a fluke. and it should have not paired. They could not explain why they did pair and won’t now. I explained that previously I had a Nuvi 880 and there was no problem pairing to my E71X. They said the software was changed and that is why they won’t pair. The Garmin Customer Service Rep suggested that I look at the compatible list and buy a new phone. I have had it with Garmin. I am now looking at Tom Tom to see if they are any better with pairing cell phones.

Using AuthSMTP with Nokia E71

I need to use AuthSMTP as the outgoing SMTP settings with my E71. Despite many adjustments with settings and discussions with AuthSMTP I have come to the conclusion that there is a bug in the software. Whenever I try to use this I get an error message "cannot send" and my message is stored in the Outbox where it stays forever. The settings work perfectly on other phones such as iPhone as well as PC and MAC but not the E71. Does anyone else have this problem and how can I resolve it? Thanks

Basically, the comment says the phone has a "bug" because when the phone authenticates into the SMTP server (using the AUTH PLAIN, for example), immediately it sends a RSET command. IMHO, after read some RFCs, the RSET command should not blow out the authentication info, but Qmail seems to reset all the session. Qmail is known for not follow the SMTP RFCs, so I can understand why doesn't work in Qmail.
I have a SMTP account configured, and works flawlessly. In fact, I'm using a complex configuration: my Postfix requires STARTTLS (initiate a TLS/SSL session) before issuing the SMTP AUTH.

Help: Can't iSync with Nokia E71

I'm on Leopard 10.5.8 and using Nokie E71 and was able to iSync fine between the 2 until recently when the error message below keeps popping up.
*Connection to the phone failed.*
*Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.*
I am separately able to use my E71's bluetooth for other stuff so I know the problem is not there. I am also able to link up my E71 with my Mac separately thru Bluetooth Set-Up Assistant so I know the problem is not with my Macbook either.
I have also Reset Sync History but that doesn't seem to work either.
My iSync says it's version 3.02 and I can't seem to find any topics related to this version. I have not updated my E71 with the latest Nokia firmware update either.
Anyone can help please??

You may have developed some corruption in one or more of your Contacts or Calendar events.
To determine which, try syncing only Contacts or only Calendars. If it syncs ok with just one selected, then you'll know the problem is with the other.
If it syncs Contacts but not Calendars, try syncing individual Calendars until you find the one that isn't working.
When you have found where the corruption is, you can export the offending Contact(s) or Calendar(s) delete them from Address Book and iCal, and then re-import them (the export/import process usually fixes corruption).
Also, have you tried completely deleting your phone from both iSync and the Bluetooth system preferences pane, and the setting it up again from scratch?

Urgent help with Nokia E71 back up/ restore

the problem this morning when phone started switching on and off by itself. As I had similar problem recently (and got new handset), I tried to back up the content. the back up went well as far I could see and i was asked to restart the phone. once restarted the contact/ emails/ text messages/ calendar went back to the old (1st back up). How can I restore this to todays details.

I really suggest to Nokia to make a rollback to the previous version for the firmware. As a faster solution I suggest to rename the old one (v. 6.xx) into something like v9.84. I have an open case since 3 weeks ago at Nokia and nothing's happend. The problems with this new firmware are:
I. The phone backup cannot be restored after firmware upgrade. The message is: "Restore must be done on the same model where backup file was created". This is really stupid...
II. The modules from OVI or PC Suite do not recognize the connected phone. Outlook Syncronization is not possible. So, if you make Fw upgrade, you will lose all the contacts and tasks and you can't restore them in any way. So, don't make Fw upgrade!!!
III. Calendar is not available anymore with the new Fw. Error is: "The calendar view could not read the entries from your device"
IV. At list "Calculator" app is missing from the Applications Menu.
OBS: I've done tests with OVI and PC Suite on Windows 7 and Windows XP SP3, so, Nokia can't accuse Microsoft for a incompatibility. Also Nokia must know that everything was running absolutely perfect with the old Firmware. But this is the Nokia Testing Dept.'s job, not mine!!!
I don't understand how this new firmware passed the tests, but the Testing Manager really have to do something!

Please help me with Nokia E71 very strange problem...

I have Nokia E71_v1, I got lots of strange problem like:
1- The camera didnt save the images and create the images like this: Name of the image*jpg but I can take videos without a problem.
2- when I put anything in the memory card or the phone memory it became currpted and then I couldnt open them at all, the message "can open the file" or "file is currpted" appears.
3- I couldnt install any application to the phone, if I put any sis file on the memory I get "file currpted" message but if I sent it to the phone via bluetooth I could install it.
4- The name of the folders usually change their name and currpted characters appeard in the folder naming.
5- When I added any mp3 files to any memory the files are disappeared.

You better reset the E71. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings. Reformat the card in the phone and remove the card using the menu from the power button. Do not encrypt the card as a test.

Control and Dial from the pc with Nokia E71

I am looking for a software like "Nokia PC Suite"
That i can select a contact from the list and select "Dial"
It would be grate if i can open the speaker from the PC also .
Any ideas for that kind of application ?

Troubles streaming video with browser Nokia E71

Hi All,
I m new with nokia E71. I have problem when i want to see streaming video, youtube or anything else. The video stop after one or two minutes. I think it comes from flash lite that uses RAM with limation. Do you have any soluion ?

afaik it won't work with Nokia E71. Tried it for myself. Usually there would be a popup which says something like "go to your router and push the button" - but this doesn't happen. same with iPhone.

My wife has an NOKIA E71 and she syncs with iSync. Everything works well, but when she adds a meeting on her phone, it does appear on the computer after syncing. Anyone? We have an iMac 24" with the latest MAC OS.

After a re-install of OS X 10.5.8 uninstalled the E71 in iSync and moved it out of the bluetooth-device list first and completely re-installed it using the bluetooth manager (SystemPreferences/Hardware).
No extra thirdparty-software involved and ever since no problems.

Synchronising Nokia E71 with iMac using Isync

I use iSync to synchronise my E71 with my iMAC. Although it works fine with contacts it will not work with Calendars. At the end of the process I get an "synchronisation failed" error message:

I have tried many times to do this but I still get the same error. I have tried resetting the E71 back to factory settings, reinstalling the plug in, resetting the sync but have run out of ideas. WIll the E71 actually sync correctly with a MAC and, if so, how do I overcome this problem?

I am using E71 and I donot have any problem syncing with calender. Have you checked with latest firmware? what is your firmware version?
I am not sure this will resolve your problem but you could try with this.
1. Remove Previous phone plugins from Library/phone plugins
2. Delete files from User/Library/caches/
3. Remove chaches from System/library/chaches
4. Download and install iSync plugin from Nokia website
Make sure you have installed all available updates from Apple using Software Update and your phone firmware is updated.
