It appears to my that a Zynga toolbar that I had installed months ago has been replaced by some other toolbar, possibly Russian, possibly from someone in Savannah Georgia. How can I get rid of it and get my Zynga toolbar back?
I see a toolbar that has some links to a Russian url (rockhomi.ru) and some buttons in Cyrllic and a button indicating weather conditions in Savannah, Georgia. That toolbar has replaced my Zynga game toolbar (it is called the Zynga toolbar under the view/toolbar menu but it is not)
I opened Firefox after a couple of hours offline and the Zynga toolbar has returned so you can close this issue if you want.

Read and print out these instructions, your computer is going to be offline and you wil be cutoff from help until your machine is restored.
Clear the Desktop, Downloads and Trash of anything you wish to keep by placing their files in the respective Documents, Music, Pictures, Movie folders.
Disconnect other drives except the sole backup drive.
Backup ALL your Users folders (Documents, Pictures, Movies, Music etc) manually (drag and drop methods) to a (not TimeMachine) external powered drive (HFS+ journaled formatted in Disk Utility) and disconnect, your going to be wiping the entire boot disk of ALL DATA.
(warning, everything will be gone and not recovered, OS, programs, files, Windows etc all gone.)
Note: You might want to hold c and boot off the 10.6 installer disk and use Disk Utility to format the new blank external drive instead of using OS X Lion if that's hosed. Then reboot into Lion and copy files, may be safer that way.
Here we go!
Hold c and boot off the 10.6 installer disk that comes with your computer and second screen in just STOP there, don't install OS X yet.
Look at the Utilities Menu for Disk Utility.
On the left is the name of your hard drive maker, click it and Erase (format HFS+ Journaled), give it the same drive name as before, and click Erase...
(note: if you want to "scrub" the drive of old files that haven't been overwritten yet, then use the Security Option > Zero Erase, takes a lot longer)
This should wipe the drive of ALL partitions (GUID, OS X and 10.7 Recovery, Windows if present)
When it's done, quit and install OS X 10.6. Then install all your programs from fresh sources and validate/update.
When you setup a first account, use the same user name as before, this way you can simply drag and drop the content of your previous Users folders from the external drive right back into the new Users folders and everything should work peachy. Links in iTunes to music, playlists and iPhoto links especially.
Update OS X to 10.6.8 using the Combo Update for best results.

(Note: If your original machine had 10.5 and you want the free iLife that comes with the disks with the computer, then you'll have to install 10.5 first using the same c boot/erase/format methods as above, then update to 10.6 via the disk, then Combo Update 10.6.8)
Final step optional but highly recommended.
A lot of people use a Carbon Copy Clone of their boot drive to a new HFS+Journaled external drive (used only for this purpose) as a "hold the option key" bootable backup in case something goes wrong with their boot drive or need to restore to a previous OS X version.. (in addition to TimeMachine drive for more immediate backups.)
It's not advised to have a Bootable Clone and a TimeMachine partition on the same external drive, as two drives gives hardware protection in case one fails. -

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. That's because you both are using the same Apple ID for iCloud(yours). Your son deleted your contacts & added his, & as far as iCloud knows, its the same person & that's the way things are supposed to work...keeps everything in sync across all of your devices.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage...this will prevent this from happening again.
As far as recovering your contacts, unless they are in a supported application somewhere else, they are most likely gone. -

Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. I recently downloaded Bearshare.com which then overrode my Firefox "awesome bar". Now when I enter a search item in the search box at the upper right of my screen, I'm automatically shunted to this new search bar where I have to re-enter my search item and click return before it will begin a search. Previously, the Firefox "awesome bar" opened automatically together with my home page and I had the choice of searching using it or the default search box at the upper right of my screen. I 'uninstalled' Bearshare but it now continues to come up when I search using the right hand top search box , forcing me to use it instead of the search box at the upper right of my screen. How do I get rid of it completely so that only the "awesome bar" appears as an extra tab when I open Firefox browser?
First, some clarification:
* The location bar (often called the "awesome bar") is the larger bar on the left that shows you the address of the page you are currently viewing. As you type in the location bar it searches your history and bookmarks for matches.
* The search bar is the smaller one on the right. It typically displays an icon of whichever search engine is currently selected and may display search suggestions as you type in it.
It sounds like you are referring to the search bar rather than the location bar. You can change search engines for the search bar by clicking on the icon on the left edge of the search bar and choosing a different one. You can also choose "Manage Search Engines" to remove ones you aren't interested in using.
It also sounds like Bearshare might have changed your homepage in Firefox. To restore that you will need to open the preferences menu (click Tools > Preferences), go to the General tab (first on the top left), and click "Restore to Default". -

I have a great Z800 Workstation with a 1.5TB HDD running Win7Pro-64. I've been using an 128GB SSD cache (Synapse/Dataplex) for about a year with no trouble, but stupidly thought that Intel's RST (Rapid Storage Technology) would do a better job, for writing in particular. So I installed RST... and run into touble.
RST put the two disks into a RAID... but since the disks are not the same geometry, and I appear to have an old chipset, it never actually worked: RST was unable to create a cache (i.e. to accelerate the HDD with the SSD) and the SSD became useless, as its Dataplex conroller clashed with the RAID.
In short, I would like to GET RID of the RAID (in view to replace the HDD by an SSD altogether)... but that appears to be impossible: I uninstalled RST and followed the "removdrv.txt" advice to switch (back) from RAID to IDE in the machine Setup... but Windows BSODs unless I keep RAID. Yes, I tried any and every "Repair" options Win7 could offer.
So my question is: how can I get rid of the (fake/useless) RAID and get back to IDE?

If there is an actual RAID configuration present, then there is no turning back.
Breaking a RAID set destroys data on the set and makes it unbootable. That is why you are seeing the BSOD. If you kep playing with it, eventually it won't even boot up in RAID.
That means starting again from scratch with a new OS install.

Hi: Bought a MacBook Pro age circa 2011,works great, except I understand I need to have a Home Folder. I am listed as administrator in the User accounts pref, in fact I'm the only user there. Still in the sidebar when starting up the Mac, there is the former owners Home Folder and not one for me. I want to delete her Home Folder and get one in the sidebar for me. I've tried all the things I could think of the delete her folder, but can't seem to do it as there isn't a button or prompt that I can click on to delete her folder and create one for me as the adminstrator. If I have understood you properly, to do that, you have to create a new administrator user with your name and for your uses. Follow these steps:
1. Open System Preferences > Users & Groups, and press the + button to create a new administrator account.
2. When you have finished creating that user, open > Log Out, and log in your new user.
3. Open System Preferences > Users & Groups, select the old user and press the - button to remove the user. If you want, you can select the option to remove the Home folder of this user, so you will only have the Home folder for your account -
