It clips no matter what I do!
Just recently when I have opened up projects new and old I have noticed that suddenly quite a few tracks are clipping very badly all the way to 6.0 constantly. They definitely were not doing this before. An ultrabeat kick drum channel is just always on 6.0 over no matter what I do, if I turn all the plug-ins off and even put its fader down to 0 it still clips all the way to 6.0 even though I can't hear it! What is going on?
There must be something I have done to suddenly make all my projects say they are clipping.

the meter is Pre-Fader. Pulling down the fader won't do anything to the meter of the track, but can only change the amount that is sent to the mains.
So to reduce db's, you have to reduce the input loudness, which can be done in every software instrument, plugin or whatever you like.
If you don't want to pull your volume down, simply insert a limiter or a compressor with limiter circuit activated, set gain to zero and pull down the autogain to minus 4 or so.
But normally, you would decrease the volume of the software instrument in question.

Cant play my MOD video clips no matter what i try..
Last year i was making a dvd out of my home clips and got a lot of help to convert the files so i was able to do so on this imac. I had got a JVC Hard Drive video camera so thats what caused the problems. Anyway it has been sooo long since i did that(last july) that now i cant remember how i did it. I have tried to change the file types and open it in several things including the mpstreamclip thing. There are a couple of clips i hadnt got around to converting, maybe i forgot them, whatever happened, im desperate to watch them and its bugging me so much that i cant work it out!!!

I know it's time consuming but apparently you are already aware that your JVC camcorder isn't really supported by the iMovie nor iDVD6. You'd be far better off with a minidv camcorder (that records to mini dv tape) and supports a firewire /i.Link connection. -
IMovie '08 on my mac mini '07 drops audio levels at ends of clips no matter what I do to stop it!
In some but not all of the clips in my project, the audio level drops down for the last half second or so. I have tried every effing audio setting including setting fade to 0 seconds manual, normalizing, not normalizing, and every combination I can think of, but it's just not working.
When I google this problem, I find a few unanswered questions going back to imovie 2 in 2003, but no solutions short of remove the auto fade and set manual to zero, which again, isn't working for me. It really ***** to spend a whole afternoon working on a project to have it corrupted beyond repair. Anybody have any ideas of how to fix this, short of getting adobe premiere and/or a newer mac or even, a windows machine?Ok, here's another set of step-by-step instructions for configuring an extended network. Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.

Why is my location city changed by Firefox to a town I don't live in? I put in my zip code in the weather info and it will not hold it no matter what I do. This is very frustrating and never a problem in the past. IE doesn't have the problem. Can anyone help?
1) Is it a video clip? Something you recognize? To be clear, it's displaying at a point in your exported movie but doesn't appear at all in the sequence?
2) What are your sequence settings? Right-click your sequence and choose "Item Properties" to verify. -
PE8 splits scenes on capture, no matter what
Trying to capture a 60-minute DV tape and PE8 splits it into 71 little bits every time, no matter what capture options I select.
Scene detection on or off, doesn't matter. I wouldn't mind scene detection if it was a little smarter, but it looks like every time I start/stop recording at a kids football game creates another scene. Since I only record the play, not the time between, it creates an awful lot of files to juggle, quite the pain.
I'm about to report this as a bug, but maybe there's a setting somewhere else that I'm missing... anyone?File system is NTFS, I already have many clips over 2 GB on my drive.
I try to turn off scene detection by un-checking the "Split Scenes" check-box in the capture window, but it still splits the clips.
I've watched it split the clips right during the capture, when "Capture to Timeline" is enabled. The timecode keeps counting right along, so it's not a break in the timecode that's causing it. Each football play, where I've stopped recording with the pause button, then start again at the beginning of the next play, is turned into another scene.

How can I fix my MacBook Pro? I have a relatively recent model of the MacBook Pro. I’ve been running Mavericks.
For the past few days, it has been randomly clicking off by itself, I guess crashing. I would be online or just doings on it, sometimes nothing at all, and the screen would go black, the computer would turn off. Then, I would proceed to try to turn it back on, and it won’t turn on for several minutes, no matter what buttons you push. I tried doing an SMC reset for myself. It did not help much. I deleted all my personal files, including plug-ins, especially flash player. I thought that helped, but the computer proceeded to turn off minutes later. Then, out of frustration, (as I have done twice or so before since having the computer) I did what may be called a factory reset for my computer. I erased the current operating system information/memory in disk utility, and then went on to reinstall OS X. This was working fine, and then, a few minutes into the downloading process, my computer turned off once again.
Now, I have no system to operate on. I keep turning the computer back on to try to do it again. But now, the computer tries to do a remote or internet recovery, and tries to re-download an operating system using my WiFi. I’m sure this would be successful, but the computer can’t function for more than a minute or two without crashing/turning off.
I am fairly certain that my power button is NOT stuck.
I did earlier notice the fan making noise, before doing the SMC reset.
The computer did seem to say there was no batteries available at one point.
(But all of this was okay after some point, and I was just doing the reset to try to correct the turning off the system was still doing)
A week or two ago, I did have a glitch where my desktop picture was flashing and acting weird, and other functions on my computer keyboard not working, like volume, keyboard brightness, etc. But I did fix it.
I have not ever had much on this Macbook pro. I do not download applications. I do not store nearly any files on the computer. I usually only use the flash player plug-in. This computer is only used for doing work/business, and for personal use online.
I can’t see why I would have so many problems.
Is it possible that erasing the memory twice or so before is causing an error or issue in the drive?
What is the root of this problem, and how can I fix it on my own?
I can’t really make any progress on the computer since it turns off after only a minute or two no matter what you are trying to do.

if your MacBook Pro doesn’t stay active long enough to perform an OS X Internet Recovery, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider to have them diagnose what’s ailing it. -

Up to about a month ago, I never had any problems setting my Home Page to Using Current Pages. Then, all of a sudden, I am unable to make any changes to my Home Page no matter what I change the settings to. I work for the US Forest Service and I don't know if some program was loaded that prohibits any changes from being made. Any help would be most appreciated.

Keyboard lights will not stay off no matter what I do on my MacBook Pro. Why??
I've got a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo.
I have ALWAYS left the keyboard lights off for the 4 years I have had it.
But lately, no matter what settings I change or what I try, I cannot PREVENT the keyboard lights from coming on when I've been away from the computer for a long period of time.
Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light is NOT checked in System Prefs. I have reset the PRAM, and left the laptop off with the battery off for hours in hopes of resetting it.
Nothing will work. Almost every time I am away from my computer for hours, I come back and the keyboard lights are on. And when I tap the keyboard light brightness buttons, it just gives me the buster symbol (white circle with a line through it) on screen below the keyboard light brightness indicator for a few seconds. Somehow continuing to tap those buttons eventually makes the lights just turn off. Or holding my hands over the whole keyboard to trigger the sensor can suddenly allow me to control the on/off brightness with those buttons again. In which case I try turning the lights off completely or turning the brightness so low that it goes off.
But once again, when I wake up in the morning, I find the keyboard lights on.
Now the ONLY thing that has changed since this started happening is that I added a new User account. BUT that should asbolutely not cause this problem. I have checked to see if the System Preferences for the keyboard lights in the new user account were causing a conflict, but no, they are exactly the same as my main account.
I have not tried deleting the user account yet because I actually want it and would find it very hard to believe that was the culprit. It's just the only thing I can think of that changed shortly before this started happening.
Is there anything else I can do!?! Is there some preference file that controls the lights somewhere that could be corrupt that I need to trash?

first try doing a smc reset
if that does not work then it is a hardware error. Many people have had the problem and they have not been able to fix it so good luck -
I don't know wha to do. When I try to get apps (even free) or music on iTunes (even with my gift card), a notice pops up saying there was a problem with a previous billing purchase, then it takes me to my card info and address and no matter what it always tells me my security code is invalid. I've gone through 3 cards (all worked to purchase items from a store or anything) and I've even updated my phone when i was told that I had to do that before I could download anything. I can't figure out what the problem is. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!

iTunes Store for Windows. Everytime I try an access the iTunes Store it takes really long to connect and then it says iTunes store cannot be access. I think I am up to date with iTunes Verison, I Have 11.0.2.26 but no matter what I try it does not connect. HELP Please???

When I try to sync my iPad and iPhone it will get within the last 3 pictures then stop giving me an APPCRASH error message. Then iTunes will shut down. No matter what I do to increase or decrease the number of pictures it always stops 3rd from the last.

I have had a problem on my computer with a virus and after several days running different programs to clean up my computer and once it was clean the people over on PCHF suggested I do some things to make my computer more secure. While all this was going on I upgraded firefox to the latest 3.6.12 update, and added a fire wall, (Zonealarm). I updated everything on the computer with the latest and the greatest.
I also was running a guest account on the computer as my main internet account and from what I understand the default guest account is not supported by the new zonealarm firewall so I decided to create another user account and then transfer all my user files off the guest account onto the newly created account that would have zonealarm support.
Before this time I had ie explorer and firefox both working on all three of the user accounts on the computer and after all this work I can only get firefox to work on the newest account. When I try to connect to the internet on the other two accounts I get a box that pops up, 'Run as' with several things to click and no matter what I click I get sent to an error page with an error message: An error occured while processing your request. then and error message ....Ref # 97.dzd0060.1291309687.11103569
Ie explorer will work on all 3 accounts but firefox seems like it wants to be hard to get along with. I don't think it is anything bad that is wrong, probably just a simple click of a box somewhere but I have read every thread on several forums over the past week and I can't find that box.LOLSee:

1. I burned a small hole in my screen, is that fixable/replaceable? 2. Even though I have my 15" MacBook Pro set to open to empty screen when I open Safari, it constantly opens multiple previous pages. It doesn't seem to matter what I do it just reverts back to opening multiple pages. Major security risk, my bank pages have popped back up after my computer has been shut down, account numbers and all. I took my computer to an Apple store and the genious there tols me... "honey, you can't hold your laptop on your lap, that's the problem, it's getting too hot" he honestly said that. Could someone please help me? Thanks
Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.

I;m having so itunes match issues.
I ran itunes match. I';ve since foumd, I think:
a) if incorrect genre etc data has been uploaded to icloud, I cannot find how to delete it and reupload correct song and data. I am presently assuming that once songs are matched, the meta-data, genre, etc etc thats uploaded is now treated as 'the master' by itunes.
Question: if I want to change the genre on a track, whats the correct way to overwrite the data held in the icloud? if I delete the track i just bring down the old incorrect genres again!
b) I've deleted from the icloud all my music tracks (select all, delete, Y to delete tracks from icloud). I have turned off itunes match on my ipad, iphone, appletv mac and windows pc. I've deleted the itunes library files too from mac and pc in desperation. But hours /days later, when I turn on itunes match on mac or pc, it tells me i still have 9k tracks in icloud. All with the old, wrong meta-data ready to mess up my [now-corrected] files back on my pc!
I cannot delete them no matter what I do. The number of tracks in the cloud was 12k, now 9k so its reducing, by about 1500 tracks a day.
does it really take itunes servers that long to delete the tracks I've asked it to delete, or am i seeing garbage data?
is there a quicker way of deleting all my itunes match library, songs and data?Thanks for the helpful replies.
My original intention was to 'upgrade' some of my tracks. In those cases, I'd iTunes matched, and the process was completed.
I later downloaded those new tracks but found during that process, the tracks I was downloading had the old metadata.
I guess the idea there is to update the local genres, 'update iTunes match' and wait. How long, I don't know but that's the current solution,yes ?
Thing is I was trying to get my local library updated and, as I thought it, back in order, but was finding my local genre updates were being overwritten. I had a lot of tracks that kept on stating they could be downloaded so I thought the new files hadn't been copied down...
I think I was trying to get match to do too many things at once.
Deleting my tracks in the cloud? Was an act of desperation to start over with all known good genres locally and to re- upload, start over. I'd read in some forum or other to do that, I guess that was wrong,

A wait and see how long it takes to delete my tracks in the cloud ie let it complete the process I'd already started.
B Correct my local tracks genres
C Wait til those changes propagate up to the iCloud ( or whatever the right term is)
Q1: How long should I wait for A and C to complete?
Q2: Is it 100% definite that local genre changes will get copied up to the cloud, when I 'update iTunes match'?
I don't see any animated cloud icon, but I will watch for it!
