N95 - not suited to Australian or tropical conditi...

I recently got an N95 and while on holidays with my new phone in Cairns in tropical queensland it started to play up a little. it turns out that while talking on the phone in hot conditions any sweat that was on my face ingressed into the keypad. The end result was loss of keypad function and backlight. I returned it to the dealer where I purchased the phone to have it returned to nokia for repair. The turn around in service was pretty quick but the result I believe was unsatifactory. I was told that due to ingress of moisture the warranty is invalid and the phone would be returned to me unrepaired. Now I have a very expensive piece of junk. this phone is clearly not suitable for Normal Australian conditions or any tropical environment for that matter where the user my perspire. I suggest if you are thinking of getting one of these phones and you live in the tropics you should always use the hands free mode or have your sweat glands surgically removed.
Don't get a Nokia - there are many more options out there. I work for One of the largest employers in Australia and will be sharing this story on the forums at my workplace also.

Unfortunately any kind of water damage is not covered by the warranty (same as if you were to get an MP3 player wet with sweat) so I don't really think you should be surprised that it was not going to be fixed for free.
dpnk - My surpirse was that nokia would release a phone that could be damaged through normal use under normal conditions. I am not in the habit of holding an mp3 player to my face. I don't think it's unreasonable to do so with a phone. If a product can't handle certain conditions then it shouldn't be sold or marketed in areas where they are likely to come under those conditions.
A pricey handset as you have put it should be able to withstand someone talking on it in conditions of 32C. It has not been determined whether the damage was made due to perspiration or if it was because of humid/tropical conditions. Either way if a product is made to be held against the face for a period of time, then the design of the product should bring this into consideration. The same if the phone is going to be sold in different climatic conditions. If I purchased the phone in Australia then spent 6 months in antarctica and the phone died due to the extreme cold, I would be more accepting of the situation as it is not what I deem normal in relation to where I made the purchase.

I am left bewildered and confused, I never mentioned that it was a common problem anywhere - one of the reasons I started this topic, apart from being angry was to get a little feedback on the issue to see how common the problem was.
In my opinion I never treated the phone in a way that would be determined unreasonable. I never exposed the phone to any environment that is out of the ordinary for where I purchased it. So I am still left bitter and now using an Ericsson which has always served me well in the past under all kinds of conditions, and will no doubt be my phone of choice into the future.

Pricing Conditions and how the pricing date is determined

Small question, i ahve some pricing conditions that use the Serives Rendered date and others that use the Pricing Date from an order, how is the condition decided on what date it uses?

There is a difference between Service Rendered Data and Pricing Date.
Normally Freight Conditions are maintained on Service Rendered Date so the freight will be picked on the basis of date on which the Actual Delivery done, whereas Pricing date is used for other conditions so that price will be based on the date on which the document created and the Pricing Date maintained in that.
In the same way there is a Billing Date which came in Invoice so price will be based on the date of Invoicing.
If you maintain the record in VK11 and test a cycle you will be able to find the difference easily.

Condition types related to planned delivery costs (Freight) from a PO.

Hi Friends,
I want to know which condition type is related to Freight in a purchase order.
I have a PO which has different conditions like PBXX, FRB1, FRC1, etc. under the conditions tab. I want to get only freight related conditions through a bapi.
SAP provides this functionality in MIRO/MIR7. When you enter a PO # and hit enter in MIR7, you will be displayed corresponding freight line items if you have selected "Goods/Service Items + planned deliver costs".

There is no direct way to determine if a condition type is related to freight or not. Normally, the condition category for such condition types is "B-deilvery costs", but there can be others as well.
I guess, you can hard code the condition types in your development, since the schema will not be changed frequently.

Sharepoint designer workflow: condition on multiple choice field

Hello,
basically I want a set of actions based on the selection of a user saved in a multiple choice field.
For instance, the column named "Choices" has the possible values: Car, Bike, Bus, Plane
So i want a condition to check for the values that were selected (in pseudocode)
IF Choices contains "Car" then ....
IF Choices contains "Bike" then ....
IF Choices contains "Bus" then ....
IF Choices contains "Plane" then ....
But in the designer when i tried to implement such a condition, im not able to write this structure.
I can select the column in the if clause but then i can only select "equals" and "not equals" instead of "contains"
Moreover, the when I choose the related string as value it is not saved.
How can I implement this (normally simple condition) in SharePoint designer?

Rebate conditions with mulitple validity dates

I have an urgent requirement. My customer wants to define different rebate rate by date in one agreement like normal pricing condition types.
for an example,
The validity date of the agreement is

Rebate conditons are as follows,

Material A $3 per 1unit, 3/1/08 ~ 3/31/08

When I tried to create a new condition record with different validity date, the system gave me a message "VK 104, the condition is being processed in current session". and then removed the record from the screen. It's because of the same condition key exists.
I think it's related to the difference on condition tables. When I checked a condition table for PR00, the attribute was "with validity period" but a rebate condition table had none in attribute.
Do you have any idea?

Copying condition value

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how to copy a condition value and change it's '-ve' sign to '+ve'. As my client is quoting prices to customers including freight, the pricing procedure is required to deduct the freight from quoted price at header level and then excise calculation is carried out and again this freight is added to invoice this freight amount. basically this is done to calculate exact excise duty.

Hi Amit,
I am not sure whether I understood your requirement but I think you can make your freight condition as negative in V/06 and can include both the quoting price and freight in pricing procedure.
Lets say if your quote price is 1000 and the negative freight condition is -10 then the value will be 990 and while creating billing you can again update pricing and add new conditions whatever you want.
But I would like to tell you that freight conditions are normally header conditions.

Stuck with problems and no help

We are stuck with the following set of problems. Repeated entries to this forum have not fetced any response. If anybody can help us on any of these issues, please reply -
1. We are not able to define any custom validator. We made our own validator that extends CompareValidor, but when we try to apply this rule to an attribute in the validation tab, we get the error - "no properties defined". Do i need to do something else besides creating a new class that extends CompareValidator and then writing my own code in the vlaidate method.
2. While deploying our jspApplication on java web server, we are getting the message "error - null". The details are as mentioned in the Topic 'can anyone help!!!' that has been posted by Prabhdeep ().
3. I have two tables, Customer and address. There is no FK between them (there cannot be because address is shared between many entities). In the address, i have 2 fields, BpType and BpId. BpType will contain 'C' to identity that this address is for a customer and id will have the customer id. In jdev 3.1, i have created entity and view objects for the 2 tables. also, i have made a view link. i need to put the condition Address.bpid = customer.customeid and address.bptype = 'c'. but it is not letting me put the second part of the condition. the chk on id works fine. as soon as i add a chk on type and test the application module, then while insertion of address i get the following error - "set method for BpType cannot be resolved".
4. I have made a jsp appl based on bc4j. now, i need to put a check on any entity in such a manner that if the check fails, my jsp should ask the user that an exception is occuring and does he want to save even with the exceptional data. if he says yes, i want that the same entity should now save the data without giving an exception. How do i achieve this interaction between my entity and my jsp.

Under normal error conditions, you shouldn't get this error. Something "unusual" (or unforeseen by us) is happening if you are getting this error. Anyway, if you wrote your own client code, you should wrap a try/catch block around it, pick out the detail exception, and see what's going
on. See the example code below:

Finished taking Sprinkler CLD Practice Exam

I am planning on taking my CLD this coming week, and just finished taking this practice exam. Since I studied the car wash and ATM solutions I decided to go for the Sprinkler practie exam. The "Sprinkler CLD.zip" file is the results of 4 dedicated hours of my Saturday.
I ran the VI analyzer on all VIs and CTLs and I'm not impressed with myself. Could somebody tell me how they think I would score?
I looked at the solution for the Sprinkler.vi and it's clear that my approach is nothing like the solution from NI. This could be a good or a very bad thing.
It appears quick comments could mean alot if the graders depend heavily on the VI Analyzer. It appears that I should have at least two comments in each VI, and not only have the documentation section filled in the VI but the same for controls.
It's clear that I missed some wires when I resized my case select boxes.
After finishing the exam and then looking back i see there is a possible lock out condition on initialization that would prevent the VI from reading the CSV file. I shouldn't have created a "READ CSV" State. If i would have placed the "READ CSV FILE" inside the "Power Up Configuration" state there would be no issues. I should have restarted labview in my last hour. If the VI starts up with the Water Pressure above 50% and No Rain then the CSV file is read and there is no problem. This would have been an obvious mistake had I restarted labview.
I realize that I missed some of the specifications. For example if it starts raining during a sequence it is suppose to restart the sequence, not pause it.
There are few comments in the code. I usually add many comments to my code, but this is my first time using a simple state engine.
At work I have a large infrastructure already in place complete with error handling and task management. I am also use to working on multiple monitors. During the test I only used one. Even if I didn’t pass this practice exam at least having a dry run outside my normal work condition was very good practice.
I spent time practicing earlier and can build the Timer.VI in about 8 minutes. A functional global timer seems to be a common theme in the practice exams.
Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Do you think I would have passed the CLD exam with this test?

There are a lot of good things in your code, you are nearly there. I haven't run your code, so this is more style and documentation comments.
If I were you, I would concentrate on the following:
Wire Error through all your subVI's put your subvi code in an error/no error case structure. If you had done that, you didn't need the flat sequence structure in your code.
You haven't even wired error to the subvi's with error terminals, this will cost you points.
Label any constants on the block diagram.
Brief description of Algorithm on each VI block diagram.
You could have avoided using local variables, for example Run Selector as this control is available in the cluster. So just a unbundle by name would have given you the value of that control. If you do use them, then make sure you state why (for example efficiency etc.) in a block diagram comment.
Some subVis are missing VI documentation, this wont be taken lightly.
Using default value when unwired (for your while loop stop) is not recommended. This was specifically discussed during a CLD preparation class I attended not so long ago.
While icons are pretty, I wouldn't waste time trying to find glyphs for your subvi's just consistent text based icon scheme is perfectly acceptable. You can do this if you do have extra time, it wont fetch your extra points though.
LabVIEW 2012 has sub diagram labels, you can enable this by default in Tools>>Options, adding comments in each of the cases is recommended.
The main thing is time management and make sure you read other posts/blogs on CLD. I would also recommend quick drop, if you haven't started using this it may not be a good idea to do so now for your exam next week. But in general it is very useful and saves time.

Touch ID - Biometric reader with problems and no solutions

I have an Iphone 5s Model 1457, after upgraded to iOS version 7.1.2 the biometric reader stopped working. I upgraded to IOS 8.0.2 and continues in the same situation. Already reset all settings and not solved. What should I do? Does the apple can solve this problem for your client?

Strange Behaviour after calling Stateless component

Just like the tittle says, something weird is happening when I call a component this way on attributtes definition

At this point, is something which I am doing wrong?
Well, the strange thing about this, is that the component's method returns a O.K. value (I See It on the log).
When this value (var) is Zero, the report (the app) works fine.
When var has a value different to Zero, the reporte crashes, and when I look the log, apparently there is nothing wrong on this component section, but lines down, there is the thin which crashes the app:
UPDATE over a Database view!!!
On normal conditions, this update shouldn't happen, it's just a query over a database view, and works correctly when I deactivate the calling of that component, or the result of the component's method is Zero.
I think, there is something wrong on the component (Mycomponent) querys. But, the method is returning o.k. values, then?

Yep. You have a bug somewhere. No need to post about that, you already figured that out. Perhaps you even have two bugs: one in your business logic or a query and one in your error handling code.
Good luck finding it. Might I suggest learning how to use a debugger? You're going to need on at this point.

How to execute lag time only for once

Dear Friends,
I want to on and off my heaters only when some X condition is fulfill. Once the conditions is TRUE only that time lag time should be executed and then it shoud run normally. when condition X get FALSE, and then again TRUE ...again lag time will be execute...I am attaching a simple plot.. which can helps you for better understading of my problem.

For that kind of timing the Elapsed Time function works well. Set it for 5 min, keep the Reset line True until condition X, then wait for it to time out. The benefit of this function is that it keeps counting through loop iterations, so you can put it in a fast loop. Read the Time Elapsed? output to trigger your heater. You'll need a little additional logic to keep the Reset line input to what you want, but that shouldn't be too hard.

IMac EFI update problems

My Mid 2011 iMac 27" i7 will no longer start after the latest EFI update.
I decided to perform some system updated on my iMac and after installing 10.7.3, I rechecked and it found the EFI update and one other update. They were both pretty small (the largest was 3.6MB), so I decided to proceed prior to getting back to business with my system.
After downloading the updates (took about 5 seconds), the machine proceeded to restart. There was a loud beep prior to the system restart chime after which it went to the grey-white apple startup screen with the spinning wheel.
And it stayed there.
After 35 minutes with no discernable progress, I decided something must be wrong. This system normally takes about 30 seconds to boot from a cold state (it's running on an OWC SSD) or maybe a minute after updates. So I held the power button to reboot. But it keeps going to the same state. I tried to reboot to a different internal drive holding the option key, but the same thing happens.
System Specs:
iMac 27" i7 3.4 Ghz (mid 2011) 12G Ram
Internal 1TB Apple HD
Internal OWC SSD 240G (main startup drive)
Here are my questions:
1. How do I recover from this?
2. Is anyone else running into this problem?
3. How long do the EFI updates normally take?

P.S. I think this is my last iMac EFI update. After my last iMac received an EFI update (2009 model 24" iMac), it became ultra-flakey and started corrupting HD's. It never worked the same after that. This machine was working PERFECTLY before the update.

I don't have the link to that thread, but here is how to do it:
To reset the SMC:
Shut down your system.
Unplug all the accessories from the system
Unplug the power cord from the iMac and leave it unplugged for at least 15 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord. Wait another fifteen seconds and restart the computer.
To Reset the PRAM:
On startup, hold down these keys at the same time (must start before the grey screen comes up): command option p r
