It Looks like a Laptop!
So I bought a Compaq KC490UA#AB Laptop around a year ago and it looks laptop and it smells like a laptop and it feels like a laptop but I don't dare put it in my lap!. Unless I place the thing on legs to let the bottom air out, it over heats and eventually shuts down on me. I do not know if it is a general flaw with the model or not. The fan seems to be working (I can hear it) and as long as I have it venting on the legs it stays on, but if I place it flat on any surface, it will shut down and it takes a while before I can turn it back on again. It is currently at the Geek Squad repair center and has been for over 3 weeks now waiting on parts. Seems to be a very slow process and I am concerned that if it is a manufacturer flaw on this model that this whole wait will be for nothing and it will start all over again. I was kind of hoping for a replacement rather than a repair although I know it is not my call.

ok, so my itouch 2nd gen starts up only to the apple logo but stops there with the loading thing that looks like a flower. it doesnt connect to my laptop either. it got unplugged while trying to restore it on my laptop and now its not rly working. any help? i alredy tried holding both buttons down like more than 100 times and it still doesnt work. so any solutions?

When I installed iso7 it somehow looked like to google someone was trying to hack my google acct from this IP address. Now I cannot access google at all. I cannot access google search engine, my business web sight, or my gmail on my laptop. I can acces one gmail acct on my iPad. I can see mail notifications for the other acct, but cannot access it.

Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?
The NEW macbook Pro and Air are EXTREMELY close in form factor
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics.
....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"
Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc. Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros

Looks like I can no longer transfer my iTunes music library directly to my iPhone (iOS6.1)?
I just upgraded my iPhone to iOS6.1 and now it looks like I can only transfer music from my iTunes on my laptop using the cloud. I do not want to sync my music autonatically, I manually manage my music. Help. Can anyone tell me how to do what I want or do I have to revert my OS back to the previous version?

Okay lets check few things. Tell me what you can see that is similar to mine. I'll be travelling today so I have soem time now and later tonight ... just so you don't thing I've "gone awol".
1. In iTunes, Preferences > Device Preferences if you want manual then you should set the iPhone from syncing automatically
2. Also check you have music in your iTunes Library
3. Then on your device tab =Music you select Sync Music, slect your playlists annd then select apply in the lower right corner.

Win 8.1 converting to look like 7 ? why?
I bought a laptop with win 8.1 on it, got used to the new operating system, and love it, but now microsoft has put out a critical update in wich make it look like win 7 by adding a minimize and close option on all windows. Im losing interest in 8.1
nowsince that update, how much further is microsoft going to go with the reverting of 8.1 to win 7 look. people have the choice to buy win 7 or 8 or 8.1. You had a great thing going, a whole new look. let poeple get angry, they will get used to

Also every time I visit a new page it makes it really small so that I have to zoom in to see it which is annoying because before I downloaded 5.0 it was fine.
My computer is a toshiba laptop and I am using windows vista.Your original had tabs on top, the current one does not. Also I note a dark background, is that some none default theme or persona, or a side effect of system display changes ?
I have noted others comment about pages needing zooming, no idea why that happens on some sytems, possibly something to do with the font changes.
I do not notice much difference between versions screenshot attached Firefox 4 and Firefox 6.0a2 open adjacent to each other. -
Looks like there is a problem with your recording ...
When I turned on my laptop today, I noticed that I was unable to use the webcam in skype. When looking within the video settings, there is a message that states "Skype could not find a webcam...". When trying to use Skype Metro App, it detects the webcam, however when trying to do a video call, the webcam does not turn on, and when trying to send a video message, there is the message "Looks like there is a probelm with your recording".
This problem impacts all applications except for the Camera Metro App (Which works without problem).
I've confirmed that the webcam is in the device manager under imaging devices and I've tried to use both the default microsoft drivers, as well as the manufaturers drivers with no avail. There is no error under device manger for the webcam. I also tried a system restore to a date before the issue took place which also did not work.

Display has low luminosity - looks like as burn backlight
Hello at all,
I have many days this problem with my laptop, I try to fix it but I can't.
Please guys help me to solve this problem with my laptop.
First of all, the problem is when I start my laptop, the laptop start and boot normally but the screen has low luminosity.
I think that looks like a clasical problem withn invert.
I change the invert in my laptop but the problem remains...
The next step which I try is the display, I change and the display from my laptop and I try it with new (and old invert) again the problem remains.
The third step which I try to do is to change the motherboard.
I change the motherboard and I try again but now with my old display because I send back the new display which I had bought from ebay. (new motherboard,new invert,old display--- the problem remains).
After all that tries, I try to change and the cable from the display but again I have the same problem.
My laptop begin normally, boot normally but the display has low luminosity.
In this point, I want to tell you that when I connect my laptop with external screen HDMI Monitor, it works great!
Do you something to suggest guys?

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.
Even though this is a Commercial product, here is a link to resolving issues and check the display settings in the Notebook settings. This shows you how to calibrate your screen.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.

Qosmio F10: Monitor screen looks like an Andy Warhol picture
I am currently having problems with my monitor screen looking like an Andy Warhol picture. I have resorted to going through the Product Recovery DVD-ROM for my Qosmio F10/G10 Laptop in the hope that reverting it back to the factory settings would solve the problem but it hasn't.
The screen breaks down after the Windows welcome screen, leaving me with my desktop all Andy Warhol like (i.e. blocks of pixilated colour at the edges of the graphics). I have tried to reset the resolution which solves the problem to an almost acceptable level but on a temporary basis, because the problem re-appears again when I re-boot the laptop.
I think that it is something to do with the Windows Multimedia Operating system that was preinstalled on my computer (so no recovery disc). The reasoning behind this assumption is that I put a DVD film into the Multimedia that is part of Windows XP and the film is a moving Andy Warhol video.
I put the same DVD into the WinDVD that came as a Toshiba additional content and the DVD is perfect! My reasoning is, that if there was something wrong with the hardware of the Laptop, then all DVD reading programs would react the same way, but as they do not, it must be a programming (or operating system problem).
Am I on the right lines? Is there a way to solve the problem via a downloadable file?Thanks guys for your replies, sorry if my question is confusing, but I couldn't think of any other way of describing it without the use of a screen dump to show you.
At the moment I haven't got another monitor to try, even though this looks as though it would have been the easiest option. I shall start asking round to see if I can borrow one to eliminate that variable.
However I will try to reinstall and to update "Graphic Drivers" to get rid out of this display problem.
