It loves me, it loves me not....

My clips seem to have a mind of their own. I imported a number of captured clips, all taken with the same camcorder. The first batch "accepts" the cross-dissolve transitions with no problem, the clips of the second batch (bin) have an adverse effect on the cross-dissolve: its duration is reduced to 0.01 seconds, hardly enough to be noticed.
It feels as if there is something "repellent" in the clips from the second bin that seems to reject the cross-dissolve (or any other transition).
I don't even know how to pursue this.
Please help.
Barry

Thanks for the response, guys.
I really need to understand these principles because:
a) I don't really understand the mechanics of handles,
and
b) I don't understand the mechanics of sub-clips in relation to the same problem.
First of all, I think I solved my immediate problem by adding a V2 track in the timeline and dragging the recalcitrant clips over and under each other to have their ends/beginnings overlap each other. Maybe a 2 second average overlap.
The cross-dissolve works perfectly when I do that but I can see a possible future problem along the Timeline if I decide later to cut a clip on one of the video tracks and then have to deal with the gap not on the same line as what follows (is there a fix for that too?). Anyway, is that the way I am supposed to deal with transitions?
I am more comfortable working with just one video track if possible.
OK, handles. I really don't understand how they are accounted for. I can well understand that if my clip is only 2 seconds in duration, and I want to add a transition that will overlap each clip by one second, there's not much left to work with. I don't suppose there's some way to insert "handles" now?
But my clips are 4 seconds or longer, and I still have this problem (other than overlapping to solve it). I noticed that in FCP5 User preferences Editing tab provides for handles, x number of frames. Is that where the handles are inserted? And if I change that now, it probably doesn't affect everything that was already imported? And if that is the answer, how many frames is enough for an average transition of, say, 1 or 2 seconds?
Also, sometimes I insert a slug to use with a title. Slugs don't have handles, do they? I had the same problem with the slug as with the clips.
About subclips: didn't think about them in relation to transitions. Yes, some of my subclips were created by using the DV Start/Stop detect feature that created many, many, many subclips. Does that affect transitions?
In other footage, I simply ran the original footage thru and placed an occasional marker to divide the content, creating large and few sub-clips of 10 - 20 minutes duration. What's the difference in the affect of either method on the use of transitions?
Lots of questions, sorry. Would appreciate some help on this very confusing topic.
Thanks in advance.

    Probably never : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus Adobe have never managed to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, and they have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it.
    Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, and there is the built-in YouTube app.

  • ADF LOV and Cascading LOV in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 Issue

    Hi,
    I have created business component ExpenseHdrView and added LOV and Cascaded LOV. If I run the application module I could see the LOV is working. It is displaying list of values and Return value(id value is not dispalyed as expected). But when I include the view in an ADF form then LOV is working but in the form when I select any value it is displaying the corresponding ID value. This is not in sync with business component.
    I am new to this ADF world. Am I doing anything wrong or missing something?
    Please help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Kalpesh,

  • LOV on an LOV

    In Forms, is it possible to have an LOV on an LOV? What I am trying to do is similar to the functionality in the browser
    menu. Take for example the File option in the browser menu. Click on File and a list displays, if you mouse-over the
    New option another list displays. Is this functionality possible with LOV's in forms? Perhaps another creative way to
    accomplish this result?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your responses.
    I have tried using tlist on a List Item and when I run the form I get a default value without a way to bring up a list.
    What I did:
    I created deptno on a form, I changed the Item Type to List Item. I changed the List Style to Tlist. I created a record
    group with a query that I want to use as my list. I created a when-new-form-instance trigger with the following
    DECLARE
    Error_Flag Number;
    BEGIN
    Error_Flag := POPULATE_GROUP('ListGroup');
    IF Error_Flag = 0 THEN
    POPULATE_LIST('DEPTNO', 'ListGroup');
    ELSE
    MESSAGE('Error while populating list group');
    END IF;
    END;
    I do this to build a dynamic list. When I run the form I get a default value (first item of the record group) in the deptno
    field without a way to pick another value. If I change the List Style to Poplist I can then pick from the list the department I
    want.
    I am still not sure how changing to a list item (tlist) is going to solve the problem. Now I need a list on a list.
    What I am trying to do is provide the user with two lists on one field similar to the File/New menu option in the browser
    menu. I have a field called CR_TYPE, when I click for list I want them to see a list of Types, when they bring the mouse
    over or highlight a type I want to bring up a list to the right of the current list with a list of the subtypes for that type.
    Is it possible with forms? Examples would be a tremendous help.
    Thanks

  • Basing an LOV on another LOV

    In a HTML web form, how can I have a LOV (Drop-Down list) based on DEPT, that populates another LOV with all the employees from EMP in the department selected in the first LOV.
    I can do it in Javascript but I need to derive my values from tables.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I dont think you can pass on the table values to a javascript function.
    You can definitely use the HTP cartridge functions to display table
    data in HTML. There would be a specific HTP or HTF function to build
    a form drop down list. I think it's a combination of htp.formSelectOpen
    and htp.formSelectOption. Check the documentation here:
    http://kontti.helsinki.fi:8889/ows-adoc/psqlwtl9.htm
    Populating the EMP LOV should be straight forward unless you are
    not looking to change the EMP LOV and DEPT LOV dynamically.

  • LOV usage -- Can LOV used as key-value pair?

    Post Author: phoenix
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hello,
    I am using BO XI R2 and I come to an issue with LOV. Can LOV be used as a key-value list?
    Say I have a key-value list as below:
    A --> 1
    B --> 2
    Can LOV just list 'A, B.. ' and return 1 if user choose A and 2 if user choose B?
    Many thanks.
    phoenix

    It is possible only if you know all possible KEY values:
    with t as (
               select 1 id,'STATUS' key,'TRUE' val from dual union all
               select 1,'AGE GROUP','10' from dual union all
               select 1,'TRAVEL','Y' from dual union all
               select 2,'STATUS','FALSE' from dual union all
               select 2,'AGE GROUP','20' from dual union all
               select 2,'TRAVEL','N' from dual
    select  id,
            max(case key when 'STATUS' then val end) status,
            max(case key when 'AGE' then val end) age,
            max(case key when 'AGE GROUP' then val end) "AGE GROUP",
            max(case key when 'TRAVEL' then val end) travel
      from  t
      group by id
            ID STATUS AGE   AGE GROUP TRAVEL
             1 TRUE         10        Y
             2 FALSE        20        N
    SQL> If you are on 11g, you can use PIVOT construct, but again you need to know resulting columns upfront.
    Another thing you could do is to return a CSV list of key all values in one column using STRAGG (or LISTAGG if you are on 11.2), hierarchical queries, XML or undocumented WM_CONCAT.

    hi all,
    i am using form6i.
    i have two fields called p_code,p_doc.
    p_code is optional and p_doc is mandatory. Both the fields is having LOV. Based on the p_code, p_doc should be filtered.
    both fileds i have given validate_from_list true.
    if user entered some values and processed after that without clearing the fields(p_doc) if user enters the data p_code the values in the LOV for p_doc is filtering(refreshing) but the value is not validate against the LOV.
    that means
    p_code p_doc
    aa 123
    bb 456
    first time for the code 'aa' the p_doc value was 123. now again user entered bb so that in the lov p_doc 456 is present but in the item still 123 is there. If user press the ENTER or TAB the cursor is going to next field with out valudating the value in the p_doc(old value is 123 but it should replace by 456) but is not showing any error also.

  • LOV single selection list is not working in my JDeveloper 10.1.2.3

    Hi!
    I'm stumped with this. I'm also new to JDeveloper. I used the sample tutorial from the OTN website entitled "JSPDataBoundLists.jws" to learn how to create drop-down lists in JDeveloper.
    My problem is I created a single selection list LOV from DepartmentListView Data Control and pasted it into an EmployeesView Input form. This is so I can just select the Department names to populate the DepartmentID field in Employees table. I setup the data binding in the UI Model of my jsp using the "List Binding Editor". I checked the UIModel file and it looks as follows:
    <DCControl
    id="DepartmentId2"
    SubType="DCListSingleSel"
    IterBinding="EmployeesViewIterator"
    DTClass="oracle.adf.dt.objects.JUDTCtrlListLOV"
    ApplyValidation="false"
    isDynamic="false"
    ListOperMode="0"
    ListIter="DepartmentsListViewIterator" >
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="DepartmentId" />
    </AttrNames>
    <ListAttrNames>
    <Item Value="DepartmentId" />
    </ListAttrNames>
    <ListDisplayAttrNames>
    <Item Value="DepartmentName" />
    </ListDisplayAttrNames>
    </DCControl>
    I run the jsp, selected a value from the drop-down list, do a submit and do a commit, but the DepartmentId from the DepartmentsListView was not stored in Employees. What is wierd here is that there is an exact same single selection list defined a row above mine which is working fine. How come that one is working and mine is not?

    Eureka! I finally found the answer to my own question!
    This simple problem of adding a drop-down list into a jsp page cost me 3 whole days (around 24 full working hours) to find the answer. Normally it only takes me a few minutes with the other web app languages I've learned. And I just stumbled into the answer just a few minutes ago (maybe all thanks should be given to God whom let me stumble into the answer since me and my wife have been praying for several weeks now ever since I started trying to learn Oracle JDeveloper. It is really very very difficult and time consuming to learn compared to other web app languages and tools).
    Anyway, the reason why my LOV does not work in my jsps using JDeveloper 10.1.2.3 is because JDeveloper 10.1.2.3 seems to allow only one input-form-element for the same field of the input table!
    For example, what happened to me was I had an input form created for the Employees table in the HR schema. I did this simply by drag-and-drop from the "Data Control Palette". This feature I like very much with JDeveloper. It is really easy and works instantly. And then, I drag-and-drop the departmentname field from the Departments table as a "single selection list" into the jsp and setup its bindings. So when I run the jsp, viola! The drop-down list does not populate the DepartmentId field of the Employees table. IT DOES NOT WORK! I've tried reinstalling both JDev and Oracle db and JDKs to no avail! I tried posting in this forum to no avail! I tried experimenting with newly created jsps to no avail! Then suddenly after repeatedly experimenting on this on different tutorials, guides and my own web app, it works! Why did it work? It was because I tried to add an LOV-single-selection-list on another sample tutorial with a READ-ONLY FORM on the jsp! Thus only the LOV is the input-form-element in the jsp for the table's field.
    So why can't you find such a simple and basic fact anywhere in the web, the tutorials, guides or the forum? I do not know. Maybe only I am using such an old version of JDev? But what about the users who used it when it just got out a couple of years ago? Didn't they have the same problem? Anyway, it seems like the answer to a lot of my simple basic questions about JDeveloper is not documented, or is buried very deep beneath all the other words of all these documents. Hopefully JDeveloper's documentations would get a lot easier to use very very soon!

  • Cascading LOV in af:table will not refresh correctly

    Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0
    I have spent quite a bit of time trying to understand why 2-level cascading LOV won't work in a particular situaion. I still haven't been able to fix it and so I turn to the ADF gurus on this forum.
    Here's the scenario:
    1. I have a ViewObject called AdjustDeltaValuesView. This VO contains attributes from its entity. It also has transient attributes called CategoryId and CodeId.
    2. There is LOV defined for CategoryId for VO CodeCategoryMasterView
    3. There is LOV defined for CodeId for LimitedCodeMasterView.
    3. View Criteria is created for LimitedCodeMasterView which sets a bind variable value from CodeCategoryMasterView.CodeCategoryId.
    4. I have wired all the LOVs correctly and it is working properly in ADF BC tester.
    5. In the UI, I have dropped AdjustDeltaValuesView data control as ADF Table where CategoryId and CodeId are displaying as af:selectOneChoice.
    6. CategoryId has autoSubmit=true and CodeId has partialTrigger set to component ID of CategoryId.
    7. The LOV inside editable af:table is working fine except one scenario that when user selects same categoryId from the category LOV in the second row, the CodeId LOV will not populate.
    Here's the code snippet of jspx:
            <af:table value="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.collectionModel}"
                      var="row" rows="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.rangeSize}"
                      emptyText="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
                      fetchSize="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.rangeSize}"
                      rowBandingInterval="0"
                      selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
                      selectionListener="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
                      rowSelection="single" id="t1" editingMode="editAll"
                      rendered="false">
              <af:column sortProperty="CategoryId" sortable="false"
                         headerText="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CategoryId.label}"
                         id="c25">
                <af:selectOneChoice value="#{row.bindings.CategoryId.inputValue}"
                                    label="#{row.bindings.CategoryId.label}"
                                    required="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CategoryId.mandatory}"
                                    shortDesc="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CategoryId.tooltip}"
                                    id="soc3" autoSubmit="true">
                  <f:selectItems value="#{row.bindings.CategoryId.items}" id="si3"/>
                </af:selectOneChoice>
              </af:column>
              <af:column sortProperty="CodeId" sortable="false"
                         headerText="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CodeId.label}"
                         id="c27">
                <af:selectOneChoice value="#{row.bindings.CodeId.inputValue}"
                                    label="#{row.bindings.CodeId.label}"
                                    required="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CodeId.mandatory}"
                                    shortDesc="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CodeId.tooltip}"
                                    id="soc4" partialTriggers="soc3">
                  <f:selectItems value="#{row.bindings.CodeId.items}" id="si4"/>
                </af:selectOneChoice>
              </af:column>For example, where it DOES NOT Work
    1. User selects Category A from dropdown from the first row.
    2. code Id dropdown populates with corresponding values in the list based on CategoryId user selected.
    3. user selects Code X from the dropdown.
    4. User selects Category A from the dropdown from the second row.
    5. PROBLEM: In the second row, Code Id dropdown does not populate. Code dropdown is empty.
    Where it works:
    1. User selects Category A from dropdown from the first row.
    2. code Id dropdown populates with corresponding values in the list based on CategoryId user selected.
    3. User selects Category A from the dropdown from the second row.
    4. In the second row, Code Id dropdown populates correctly.
    Where it works:
    1. User selects Category A from dropdown from the first row.
    2. code Id dropdown populates with corresponding values in the list based on CategoryId user selected.
    3. user selects Code X from the dropdown.
    4. User selects Category B from the dropdown from the second row.
    5. In the second row, Code Id dropdown populates correctly.
    Has anyone come across this scenario? It's a very weird problem.
    I hope I have explained this well. If it's not clear please let me know.

    Hi
    I have recently migrated UIX project from the Jdeveoper 9i to Jdev10g version 1.0.1.2, everything work without any issue, however when I try to create a LOV or any component that are ADF-UIX based, but it does not work I don't even get any error, it just does not work based on the ADF-UIX (Expression base component),
    Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appericated
    Thanks

    I too have problems with LOVs in UIX pages. I have
    some that you have to run twice to get back a value.To solve this problem,
    1) open your UIX page where you create a new row
    2) in the Structure window, click third tab "UI Model"
    3) double-click the control action binding corresponding to Create
    4) select CreateInsert from the list
    The problem is related to the fix we introduced for the "Blank Row Issue" (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/blankrow/index.html).

    Hello
    I have this problem: I'm making a form that is not based on view object. From the Data Controls I can drag a view as a combo box, but I cannot drag a view as a ListOfValues ...
    So I must create a non-SQL-based View and create attributes of my form and attach the LOV to one of the attributes ?
    Is there another solution ?
    Thanks
    agruev

    Yes, input list of values must be model driven.
    What we do is :
    Create Dummy view as:
    Select 1 as id,
    null as code
    from dual;
    and we bind code with list of values view object.

  • Update of static LOV data display condition is not reflected in comp export

    Hi team,
    here is another possible little bug in 4.0.1.
    I updated the conditional display for one entry in a static LOV.
    This change is correctly reported in page 4000:4111 in the last updated column, but it is not reflected in the more general last updated column for the entire LOV component (page 4000:4110).
    This affects also the component export where the updated static LOV does not appear in the first places if i sort the report by the most recently updated column (page 4000:688).

    Suda,
    1. I am currently on SBO 2005A PL 20, I've checked the issue of the "last purchase price" not being refreshed in the BOM on PL 36 .... Incidentally, the system behaves in the exact same fashion. I heard I can force the data refresh by using a format search, do you know how to do it?
    2. If I don't use "last purchase price", instead using "My price list", thus I can use "Update parent items globally" to update the BOM. To achieve this goal, you suggest to use DTW, which I am still trying to figure out, meanwhile I've checked the SAP SDK and found the table ITT1 contains a column "PriceList" , which flags the certain price list being used. Can I reset this field to flag my price list without affecting data integrity?
    Thanks...
