How can an IT Manager Prevent IT Interns, who are temporary users, who are customizing their workstations in
appropriate ways, by changing their desktop appearance and computer sounds.  What tools are available thru Windows 7 to
do this.  My email address is {removed}@HOTMAIL.COM

I am trying to purchase Creative Suite CS6 Design Standard. I own a Max OSX. I live in Germany.  When I try to order for Germany, it gives me only an option for Windows, not Mac.  How can I order?

In Germany no telephone number nor web chat is available.  Searching on the Adobe site tells me that this forum is the only avialable means to ask consumer questions.  I am giving up and ordering from elsewhere.

  • Do not find the option for windows when I press the the option key during restart, since I downloaded Lion

I still do not find any option for windows when I restart my mac when pressing the option key.  It used to go to windows when I pressed the option key during a restart but since I have downloaded Lion, it always go to mac.  I do not want to make a permanent switch. ANy suggestions on how to get back to using the option key?

You probably need to reinstall your Windows machine.
I'm not certain, but I have a feeling the install of Lion wipes it out, going by the number of threads started along similar lines since Lion's release.

  • How do I get Windows XP onto my new mac running lion when boot camp only gives me the option for windows 7

Hi   I have been trying to partition my hard drive on my new Mac so that I can run some windows specific programs and I wanted to use Windows Xp because I beleive it to be suitable for my needs + becuase its now an older OS it's cheaper.
My version of Mac is running the Lion operating system and when I start up the boot camp assitant I only get the option to install windows 7. If I proceed and put in the XP installer disc I get a message "Installer disc not found- insert disc and wait a few moments".
The Xp disc is supposed to be a full version- at least thats what the guy who sold it to me claims, anyone any solutions on how to proceed or do I have to buy Windows 7?
    Chris

With OSX Lion Apple has removed support for Windows XP and Windows Vista from BootCamp.
That leasves only Windows 7 as a viable option to use.
You can however use Virtualization apps like the free VirtualBox to install and run XP on your Mac.
Commercial ones are Parallels and VMWare Fusion.

  • Local Database Options for Windows Store Apps

I am looking to create an application that will allow for entry of data from a user and write it to a database file system locally within the application.
I am new to Windows Store type app development and are a senior developer for ERP systems for the enterprise which have rich databases and client apps that are built with a MVC type configuration. The app communicates with the database which is on the DB
server (Oracle, IBM DB2, or SQL Server) and writes to the file system.
For my startup applications I would like to have a simple CRUD type interface that writes to a DB that is part of the application and does not require a connection to a file server or DB server.  Internally I would like something with a few tables,
etc.. that I can write to and then report from locally.
In the Windows 8x development world, what is the best method and technology to use for Store Apps for this scenario?  What is the best approach?

  • J3680 All in One says no scan options for Windows 8.1. Used Photo Smart on Windows Vista.

Prints, not scans with my 8.1.  Both HP products. Could I download Photo Smart?  Guy w/exact same printer had same problem & got no reply.  Any free HP info?  Can I take screen shot of photo and transfer to file?

    Hi @ahpaige,
I see by your post that you are able to print but not scan on Windows 8.1. I can help you with this.
Did you download and install the Full Feature Software?
HP Officejet J3680 All-in-One Printer Drivers.
The classic Windows driver is probably installed, which provides basic functionality.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

Thank you for the email regarding how to improve internet privacy.s however, as my new laptop OS is Windows 7, your infor was for XP - it was useless and wastded my time. Consider being more complete and accurate in your communications. ~~Wayne

Actually the articles linked in the newsletter all have instructions for Windows 7 with instructions for XP in parenthesis. Maybe that's looked confusing. If so, please let me know.

  • Recovery Backup Option for Windows 8

I have an HP Envy dv7 Notebook with Windows 8. This is probably going to be a silly question.
I am trying to find out what recovery media I need to create in case I need to recover my PC. There are 2 different places on my laptop where I created backup on a USB drive. The first one is under The Recovery Manager. Under The Recovery Manager and under "I'd like to take safety measueres, there is an option to Create Recovery Media Creation. That says it creates a set of media for your system. I went to that and created the media recovery on a US drive.
I then found another page located under the Control Panel.  Under the Control Panel, and then under All Control Panel Items, and then under recovery, there is an option that says "Create a Recovery Drive." Under that option it says Create a recovery drive to refresh or reset your PC, or to troubleshoot problems, even when it can't start. I clicked that and created it on a USB drive as well.
My question is are these both the same thing or are they 2 different ways to restore your PC. Do you need to create both of them to be used for 2 different ways to restore your PC or do they basically restore in the same way!
Also, even though I have Windows 8 I have a place under control panel, and under all control panel items, Windows 7 File Recovery. I'm not sure why I have that because my laptop came with Windows 8 installed. Do I need to do anything with it, or do I even need it at all. Theres options in there to create a system image or a system repair disk. I just dont get it becuase its under the Windows 7 File recovery and i dont have Windows 7. If anyone can kind of guide me what I need to do or any input on my questions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi markussukram,
You are wanting to get information on how to create a back up on your Windows 8 pc, is this correct?
Here are a couple of documents that will show you how to create Recovery Media as well as backing up your pc data.
This first link gives information on how to create Recovery Media in case the operating system becomes corrupt or unresponsive.
This link gives step-by-step instructions on how to back up data using on a Windows 8 pc.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium COA sticker illegible - Options for Windows 10 install?

My laptop's Window's sticker is very worn and I can maybe make out a character or two, but certainly not the full key to do the Windows 10 install. I have my recovery discs for re-installing my original system but that's not helpful for this upgrade. Microsoft chat was less than helpful. What are my options? Will the key that a program like Magical Jelly Bean Key work?

    Yes.
OEM just means that the Windows OS is dedicated to that computer only. If you sell, replace or throw away the computer you use it on, the Windows CD/DVD goes along with it. (According to the Licensing dialog)
Just do a Yahoo/Google search for prices is the only way to find it cheaper. Or keep an eye on your favorite web store for sales.
If you are in college and have an .edu e-mail account thru the college then Microsoft has it for about $30 US. And other deals also.

You don't need the key if You upgraded from Win 7 and want to do clean install. It is important that you  first upgrade from Win 7, not Win 10 clean install!  "If you upgraded to Windows 10 on this PC by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer and successfully activated Windows 10 on this PC in the past, you won't have a Windows 10 product key, and you can skip the product key page by selecting the Skip button. Your PC will activate online automatically so long as the same edition of Windows 10 was successfully activated on this PC by using the free Windows 10 upgrade offer."Source: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install

  • Netinstall DHCP Options for Windows DHCP server

    Hello,
We want to use Netinstall for imaging our Mac's. I don't want to add another DHCP server to support the Netinstall options. Can I add the Netinstall DHCP boot options to my existing Windows DHCP server? If it's possible, could you let me know what they are?
    Thanks for any help.
    All the best.
    Kevin

The NetBoot technology does not use the traditional method for discovering the TFTP and NFS servers (DHCP options), but instead uses BSDP (Boot Service Discovery Protocol). On Mac OS X Server, bootpd happens to handle both DHCP and BSDP, and is configured to provide one or both services as needed. Check out the man page for bootpd, which goes into great detail as to how NetBoot functions.
The short version is that you don't have to make any modifications to your existing DHCP server (it just has to provide a host IP address to the client, optionally with a router IP and DNS IPs). You just need to enable NetBoot on a Mac OS X Server system sitting on the same subnet as your clients.

  • Best option for Windows 7 64bit Sync?

    IRDA-USB adapter, Bluetooth-USB adapter, or WiFi-USB adapter.
We do not currently have WiFi in our house, and I do not have phone service on my Treo 650.
Would an adapter like these ( http://www.amazon.com/IOGear-Wireless-G-Speed-Adapter-GWU523/dp/B0009JR3SE ) work to do a WiFi sync? Note that I do not have phone service on the Treo.
Which option is the fastest? Which is the slowest? By how much? Which options are easier/harder to configure?
Any recommendations on brands/models of adapters?
    thanks for any help.

You cannot add a BlueTooth USB device to any PalmOS device.  Palms are all slave-only USB controllers...

Not real smart on all this technology. It needs to be user friendly.

I'm having the same problems, I've downloaded all new downloads for Kodak, it seems to be Quicktime? It's a shame to have a new computer and camera and cant use the programs
