I fixed it!!
While not connected to any USB cable I put the iPad in recovery mode.
To do that turn the iPad completely off. Press and hold the home button while turning the iPad on, once you see the apple logo release the home button.
Turn on your OS X mac after it boots up connect the USB from iPod to Mac. iTunes should start. If not launch itunes.
Perform the factory restore process paying attention to all of the screen message windows. Then set up the ipad like it was new. -

There are three things you can do.
1) Type 0000. That is normally the standard passcode, or try 1234.
2) Do a reset by holding the on/off and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.

Go to System Preferences, Users & Groups, then Change Password to add a password for the account.
Even when you are using the default, out-of-the-box addount, which is an admin account, you must have a password set to do software updates. -
I've backuped my phone and then had it replaced as it was broken.
Went to retore my new phone Iphone 5 and it is asking for a encryption password. I didn't set one two days ago.
I have tried my itunes password, the computer password my iphone lock password everything.
I even looked into my keychains. HELPThere is no help, if you don't know the encryption password, then sorry you won't be able to use your backup.

There's no default 4 digit code.
You need to force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

Go to Solution.Thanks for the reply on the default code. I determined that the issue was with the Acura and not the phone. I went in and deleted all paired phones. I still had issues getting through the voice prompts because it kept kicking me out. However, I finally was able to get through the prompts, establish a passcode, and reestablish my bluetooth connection. Not a fun process, but I should be good to go.

Admin password is in the trash
I haven't found much about this in any forums, but basically my log files in my "private" folder which wasn't showing in the finder was taking up about 20 GB. I moved the whole thing to the trash, however the folder "VAR" cannot be deleted because it is in use. However the restrictions on this folder are such that it requires an admin password to restore it from the trash, at the same time, the admin password is currently in the "VAR" folder which is in the trash and the computer cannot recognize it. As a result there is a vicious loop where I can't do anything on my computer which requires an administrator password - one of which is activating time machine.
PLEASE HELP!!! I am a photographer and I have work I have t get done this week. To be honest, it seems absolutely RIDICULOUS that any computer would allow that log file to be moved to the trash in the first place. Looking around on the web it seems that it's a pretty common problem that log files begin to take up huge amounts of space, and thus pretty likely that this mistake would be made such as I did.
Any advice is much appreciated...I'm scared that restarting is going to just put me in a position where the whole OS crashes... I do not, however, have a login....but why would it automatically restore the log files?

Why can I not disable the guest user in the 10.8.2 update? I have never enabled the guest user, but after the update, it was automatically enabled with a "managed" tag. It is not selectable even after entering my admin password to unlock the options. I was able to select the account under "parental controls", but again, could not delete it. Why Apple? Why?!!????
SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.
