It's goodbye from me to Apple I'm afraid. SN+Win7 -early MBP -projectors

I have had my Macbook Pro 15" for about 3 years and it has mostly been pretty good on the Mac and Windows side. In my work I need to present on many different projectors at client locations. Never the same client twice.
I have found that BC with Win XP SP3 works most of the time in conjunction with the ATI Catalyst Control Centre (ATI X1600 Driver v8.574.00).Connection to the projector or TV is always through the mini-dv to VGA connector cable originally supplied.
I have updated to Snow Leopard on the Mac side and recently took Windows easily up to Windows 7. ( Installed by booting from the Win 7 CD - so no horror stories I'm afraid!)
However Win7 has displayswitch.exe ( WIN Key + P) which handles projector cloning and display switching. I cannot install Cataylst Control Centre - it just won't go in.It works fairly well on XP.Most projectors seem to want VGA input. MBP only outputs digital hence the DV to VGA connector.Any time I have gone Dv to DV it has worked.
Apple has decided not to support my laptop with Windows 7 drivers for the ATI 1600. I don't suppose ATI will bother to make the driver work either.
SO I have downgraded the Windows side to a situation that does work - WinXP SP3. I have used Winclone on Mac to make images of the XP and Win7 systems and can switch between them. Admittedly it takes 45 mins to do this.
In a nut shell then Bootcamp seemed like a good idea at the time. It has mostly worked for me. But I have now hit a brick wall.
Hope this post helps the many of you trying to connect Win 7 to projectors. I managed this by starting Win7 in SAFE mode ( hold F8 at windows boot) and the signal was picked up by the projector easily using the Standard MS VGA driver. 1024 x 768 is enough resolution what what I need to show.
Sadly safe mode interefered with Adobe Licensing and the program would only run once before quitting ( InDesign) so not a soluton for me - but it might work for you.
I will not be replacing my laptop with another Apple - I am returning to the real world of business computers.
In summary then mac has been fun and stylish and pretty but at a price - a new laptop after 3 years. You have been warned.

So I tried Parallels 5.
It is too inconsistent when it boots the bootcamp Win 7.
Sometimes the task bar would appear at the top, then missing all together. Mouse zooming turned into a nightmare. And I did experiment for 2 whole days.
So Parllels is an amusing rather than a practical solution.
I tried again to install Catylist Control Centre in XP compatabilty mode as as Administrator. It will install but doesn't actually work in Win 7.
So I have bought a Dell Studio 15inch with 4gb ram , 500Gb HD (7,200) Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Mobile Processor (1.6GHz, turbo up to 2.8GHz, 6MB L3 Cache
Problem sorted.
