It's only the pdf's..

I use the app Notability on my iPad to write all my notes in class, and then I open them in iBooks as a pdf, however I have to print from my MacBook Pro. I cannot get all of the pdf's to show up in my iBooks on my laptop to sync, only some show. How can I sync them so that they match? I went into iBooks on my MacBook and my iPad and checked sync collections and sync bookmarks, that did not do the trick.

I actually figured this out myself... You just have to back up the Ipad to the computer.

Print pdf in Acrobat 9 stopped working for all programs (only the pdf converter office add-in works)

To solve that nesting issue, I followed these instructions:
In order to accomplish the proper redirection, you need two junctions:
1) A Local Settings junction, that will forward programs going to
%userprofile%\Local Settings to the new folder.
2) An Application Data junctions *inside of the new folder* that points back on itself, to get programs accessing %userprofile%\LocalSettings\Application Data.
If you think about it, it makes sense ... when the program is accessing local settings, it will get forwarded to the folder it needs to be in, however, it is also accessing a folder named Application Data *inside of the correct folder it needs* (since it has already been redirected by the Local Settings junction), so the Application Data junction has to point back on itself for things to function properly.
I would suggest checking the security settings on your Application Data junction (C:\users\yourname\appdata\local) (you will need to select show operating system files from folder options in an explorer window).
Go to the security tab, click advanced, then edit, and make sure you see a deny permission for everyone on the list.
If there isn't one listed, create one for "Everyone" and check the box under Deny next to "read folder / list data".
Once I added "everyone" and "deny", I received 300 error messages, which I all clicked on "continue".
After each restart, no program worked, and hundreds of error messages popped up.
So, I removed the "everyone denied" entry again.
Now, all programs start normally.
But:
If I want to say "print to pdf", it goes through the motions, prints something, and opens the pdf dialogue, and at exactly half time of the progress bar says "stopped". No matter if I want to pront from internet explorer, windows explorer, acrobat, word, editor, ...
Why?

I can't open the Form Tools though is what I'm saying. When I open the document in Acrobat 9 Pro I have no form tools.
I have to go to [Forms] -> [Edit Forms in Designer] in order to open the form tools.
Only when I select to open in designer I do not get the Acrobat Pro Designer, it automatically opens the document in LiveCycle and I have no option or ability to change the document designer to Acrobat Pro.
Is there some way I can "Force" the docement to open in Acrobat 9 Pro designer JUST so I can add the print button?

Acrobat Pro / How to insert a jpg or a png in interactive pdf? (I can only insert pdfs)

Hi, I have created a placeholder for picture in an interactive pdf.
When I want to insert a picture the only format allowed is pdf.
I would like to be able to insert jpg or png.
I had a look online and it seems that I should be able to change the user preferences of Adobe to allow formats like jpg and png to be inserted.
I can't find the way to do that.
Any idea?

Thanks Sara, your suggestion is a very good alternative. By using the tools I can add pictures of any types.

When I want to insert a picture I have format options but only the pdfs are showing (see screenshot attached). As Bernd told use Acrobate Reader allows only PDFs to be inserted but Acrobate Pro should allow us more options I think... Anymore thoughts?

we came across an 'undocumented feature' of interactive form usage in WDA, that's the so called pdf only scenario.
This is how it works:
1. for the form form UI element , only the pdfsource is bound to a context node , datasource and template source are empty;
2. the pdfsource is generated from a DDIC based interactive form ,by calling FUNCTION 'FP_JOB_OPEN' and FP_JOB_CLOSE;
3. user input data will be stored and send back to the pdfsource as a document(xstring);
the advantages are :
1. DDIC based forms will be available interactively online(which is more friendly to abap developers and more powerful), no need to set to the legacy mode to make it work; (according to SAP LIBRARY, function module based forms are only available for printing);
2. the context of WDA application is simple, you can switch between forms without complex binding,there is only one binding between the forms and wda context: the pdfsource;
3. using ADS method , you can easily to extract xml data out of the pdfsource, and using ST or DOM you can manipulate it easily and send to user again;
4. ZCI DDIC forms work, no need to use ACF;
we have tested this on SP16 successfully.
Imagine you are building a WDA application,that will deal with different forms with different interfaces,you will realized the power of the pdf only scenario.
unfortunately, this funcitonality is not officially supported by sap, for ddic forms we have to follow

I'm currently working on, a such scenario . My forms is based on a DDIC interface and should be used with e-mail flow ( off-line ) and into a webdynpro Abap .
In my form i got dropdownlist box populated by DDIC value , also dynamic text and information such as user name, number of holidays etc...
I'll do all the code describe in the help, unfortunately when i set my forms as enable in the WD4A , all value pre-populated in the forms ( dropdown list box, user name etc... disapears ...
If i set the same forms as not enable , all value appears correctly .
I'll debug the code to see where is the problem, it's in a method where the forms is generated twice and all value disapears. I'll send a message to OSS for this, the answer was first it's because you use dynamic text then the answer was it's because you used DDIC interface please used XML .
I look at sample web dynpro given by sap but none of them are populated when it's appears (perhaps my ides value are not set ) .
So i'm currently trying to redevelop my forms based on a XML Interface and will try it . I let you know if it's works ....

How do I print only the first page of multiple PDF documents?

I have about 1,500 PDF files (scientific papers) that I need to print only the first page of... Any suggestions on how to do this as a single job or as a few jobs? The files are organized in a bunch of different folders, so if there was some way to do this folder by folder, that would be ok too. Thanks!

Make sure that in System Preferences Printing & Fax pane you set the default printer to the one you want to use, then put all of these PDF files into their own folder, then open terminal and type the following (without hitting return afterward):
lpr -o page-ranges="1-1"
Then drag one of the PDF files into the terminal window (it will add it's path to the end of your command) and replace the file name with *.pdf, so it will look like this:
lpr -o page-ranges="1-1" /Users/todd/Documents/My\ Folder/*.pdf
Then hit return.

11.0.10 Update Issue - Problem saving documents - getting message "This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (21)." The PDF documents are being created by Esker VSIFax and the problem is only occuring with updated vers

Our IBM Unix system uses a program called VSIFax (Esker) to create PDF documents such as invoices. Users that have updated to Acrobat version 11.0.10 can open the PDF but then when trying to save the document the get a message "This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (21)." The problem is only occuring with updated version 11.0.10 (11.0.9 works fine).

A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to your computer (that will copy PDFs and epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and you can then sync them to your iPhone. Or you might be able to open each PDF in iBooks on your iPad and use the share icon to email them to yourself and then use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPhone to copy them to its iBooks app (if the PDF is protected then you may not get the email option via the share icon).
The Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections setting doesn't copy items between devices, it just means that it a bookor PDF is on both devices and you move it into a collection on one device then it will be moved into the same collection on the other device

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please heck if the following reg key exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
Please check the following key:

I have indicated on the attached jpeg where the problem is, basically a line of text is missing at the top and part of the feeding diagram is missing. I created the artwork in different layer and then flattened. All text has been converted to outlines, however the areas being affected have no transparency, I have used solid fills or no fills. I get the same result when I export the file as a jpeg. Hope you can help.

Instead of printing it, try saving it as a pdf from the print menu, and then printing the pdf out.

Word documents don't have a fixed page layout; Word reflows freely if it wants. This isn't normally a problem unless things like typing page numbers is done; avoid that.
