It's possible to buy 2G iPhone these days?

My iPhone 2G bought in august 2007 is dead and I would like to buy another one, old version. Is it possible to find units in AT&T or Apple Stores in New York? Or it is totally out of stock?

Some stores will still have them in the back someplace. So all you can do is maybe look stores up. Dial. And ask if they have new iPhones still for sale. Might get lucky and find a store with a couple still in stock.
Otherwise wait till July 11th and you can get the new Generation for the new cost. Plus the iPhone might even be available in you're country by then. Check back soon if you are willing to wait.

Is it possible to buy an iphone to use in the US and the rest of the world without buying a monthly plan? I'd like to travel without two camera, two cell phones and use my iphone as a backup camera and phone for texting and short calls during international travel. Can an iphone take sim cards as some smart phones?

If you buy an unlocked phone from Apple you should be able to use it with any carrier. It'll be more expensive but you get the freedom to choose.

Is it possible to buy an iPhone 4s unlocked in the US, and then use it normally and completely into France with Freemobile (which provides micro-SIM) ?
I'm travelling to NYC tomorrow and that would be 100€ less than in France...

Thank you for the quick answer
Do you mean that I can't reserve and pick up my phone in the local apple store as it's explained on the site (http://www.apple.com/retail/iphone/) ?
What about the social security number asked in the formulary ? I've got a French one...

Is it possible to buy an iphone 5 in the states and take it back to another country for use?

Apple has not yet announced the availability of unlocked iPhones in
the US, but they are for sale in Canada, parts of Europe, and elsewhere.
Warranty is not international. Service and repair/replacement only in
country of original purchase. LTE/4G may or may not work in other
country depending on bands and frequencies used.

The T-mobile contract-free iPhone is already being sold, but it will take 7-10 business days to ship. And, as confirmed by Apple Specialists and also by people who have already bought it, it is factory unlocked.
Yes, there is a contract free T-Mobile phone, but it is not "the" unlocked phone which Apple will begin to sell usually 2 months or so from the release date. So my answer to that question is accurate. I specifically identified the T-Mobile phone, and a search of the forum would yield some responses identifying its inability to work in some locations. And again, it has to be the T-Mobile phone sold at the Apple store, not T-Mobile.

Regarding French LTE bands, they use 800, 1800 and 2600MHz, all of those supported by the iPhone 6.
While that statement is accurate, see Lawrence's response regarding how it works.

And finally, about the warranty, that is also something that should be checked country by country. Although Apple says its warranty won't cover products purchased abroad, some countries' laws require manufacturers to provided services under warranty to phones no matter where they were purchased. For example, since Apple has a branch in Brazil, justice here has repeatedly ruled in favor of customers  who needed service on iPhones purchased in other countries.
While that may be an example, the overall warranty statement by Apple is that warrant is specific to the country of purchase for the reasons that Lawrence states. Certain devices cannot be found in certain countries. Should I travel to Brazil and have a problem with my phone, they would have a very difficult time replacing a locked AT&T device. They would not have that stock.

  • Is it possible to buy an iphone from us and use it into france?

I all i would like to know if it possible to buy an unlocked iphone 4S from apple store(US), and use it into france?
    With french operator
    Thank you
    Max

You can buy unlocked GSM phones from the Apple store, but you will pay full retail price (no subsidy since they do not come with a plan and contract).  The prices are listed at $649/$749/$849 for the 16Gb/32Gb/64Gb models and they will be available in November sometime.
Just be sure to buy it from an Apple store (ie. NOT a cell service provider store - those will be carrier locked) and be sure to get the unlocked version.

  • Is it possible to buy an iPhone in the USA and use a brazilian chip?

    Hi guys,
I want to know if I buy an iPhone in the USA I can just put the brazilian chip (a chip from a brazilian telecommunications company) and it will work. Could somebody help me, please?
    Thanks.
P.s.: Hope you understand, my english is not the best one hahaha.

No. All iPhones sold in the US are carrier-locked to AT&T and cannot be used with other carriers' SIM cards.

  • Is it possible to buy an iPhone in the US and then take it to Israel, and set it up with an Israeli plan?

I am moving soon, and it's way cheaper to buy one in the US.

Keep in mind, warranty service is valid ONLY in the country of purchase.  If your phone needs warranty service, you will have to travel to the US to get it serviced, or send it to someone in the US who can bring it in to Apple.  You're much better off buying an iPhone in Israel.

  • Is it possible to buy an iphone without being locked to AT&T?

I'm currently living in Brazil and would like to buy an iphone from the states because it's a lot cheaper and use it with a local carrier, but I don't know if I can buy a iphone 4 that's not locked to AT&T. Anybody have any ideas?

If you have a non-US address, most likely. Please search also, as this has been asked.

please i would like to know if i can buy an iphone online that is locked from apple store and unlocked it here in Nigeria with any of the networks here in Nigeria please HELP

Apple does not have any presence in Nigeria not any approved carriers
If you were to purchase an unlocked iPhone from an Apple store in say the UK
purchasing from any other source would almost certainly not be an unlocked
iPhone there is no guarantee it would work in your country
and if it did not no-one can or will help you.
Apple On- line stores do not ship outside the county in which they are situated

  • HT4528 Is it possible to buy an iphone for yourself at the apple store when you're using an upgrade from a different phone number on your plan?

I broke my old phone a few days ago, and my phone number doesn't have an upgrade until the summer of next year. My dad offered me his upgrade, since he doesn't need a new phone and it would save me a few hundred dollars. Is it possible for me to go into the Apple store and purchase a new iPhone when I'm using an upgrade from a different phone number? I already cleared it over with the people at Verizon, who told me I could switch the upgrade over online.

    There are 2 issues here.
Some carriers REQUIRE a data plan in order to use an iPhone on their network. This requirement will vary from carrier to carrier. The iPhone is designed to be constantly connected. If you do not manually go in and turn off cellular data (not just 3G) The phone will attempt to connect to the Internet over the cellular data network. If you have your carrier specifically block these requests, you shouldn't be charged for them. If not, it could end up costing you lots of money you didn't expect. The other thing that will happen is things like visual voicemail will not work (if the carrier supports it to begin with) and you will get lots of messages about not being able to connect to cellular data if you're not in range of WiFi you can connect to. MMS messaging also will not work.
The second issue surrounds the statement: "use the iphone 4 with a standard cdma phone plan".
It is NOT possible to purchase an unlocked CDMA iPhone. ALL CDMA iPhones are locked to Verizon.

  • Is it possible to buy an iPhone in one country and then get a contract in another country to go online in the latter country?

In my case I bought one in China, could surf the internet in China with my Chinese contract, but when I returned to Germany and started a German contract, I couldn't use the intrernet anymore outside of Wi-Fi. I've already been to a shop of my phone supporter (Base), but they couldn't help me no matter how often they re-entered the APB-stuff and turned the phone on and off.

  • Is it worth buying an iBook these days?

    Hi!
I will in all likelihood make a MAC laptop my own in a few weeks and am torn between the MacBook Pro and the iBook. The MacBook is obviously much more powerful but plagued by many problems that I would rather stay away from. In light of that, is it work buying an iBook then? I like performance and want this Laptop to take me through Grad School. I am running applications such as MATLAB or LabVIEW which are fairly power hungry. A maxed out iBook is still $1000 cheaper than the MacBook configuration that I would desire, but how is its performance? Should I perhaps stick around and wait out until the MacBook Pro issues are resolved?
Thanks for all and any input.
    Regards,
    Christian

I think it boils down to what you are using the computer for. If you are using photoshop and do not want something slow then Ibook or Powerbook. If you need software that is not available to run native on a intel mac then I would buy the power pc.
If it is a matter of reliability the new revisions of the macbook pro seem to be fine. It is a beautiful machine. And intel is the future of macs. However, this is a transition period. We do not know what new products will be coming out and it seems as though there is a lot of development going on right now at Apple and Intel. Designed obsilesence. Buy the latest and greatest today and tomorrow something better will come out.
So my suggestion is to go to the apple store and try the models you are interested in. Get a feel for each machine. See how fast they open programs and work. See which one will have the software you need to run. Check out Apple on-line. There are great re-furbished models of powerbooks and ibooks available for a great price. My iBook was refurbished. It had a few barely noticible scratches but other than that is just as a new one for $250 less!
Personally I like to get a good deal. I chose the power pc because it is a known variable. Everything works well. The powerpc architecture is really rather amazing and I do not regret for a second my choice. Realize that only the iBook and PowerMac have not been released with an intel chip. So before the end of the year they will. Do you want more expensive but new or less expensive but old. Both are 100 times better than any pc alternative in terms of form and function so you really have nothing to lose either way!!

  • Still possible to buy iPhone 3gs at full retail price?

Just wondering, now that the 4 is out, is it still possible to go to one of the apple stores in Boston (travelling there soon) and buy iPhone 3gs 16gb at full retail price?
Is it also possible to buy the iphone 4 at full retail and what are the prices for either of these phones?
Because my mate once bought it in Best Buy and now (almost 3 years later I think) he could not buy it (at full retail price).
    Thanks in advance.

Only if there's stock left. The current 3GS is 8GB only. But apart from that I don't see why not.

  • Is it possible to buy iPhone 4 without a simlock

    Hi
I am from Turkey and will be visiting USA. Im thinking of buying an iPhone 4 without a contract as its much cheaper there(about 1/3 of the price of here). But as far as i read on the internet even if you buy without a contract the phones come with an at&t simlock. Is it possible to buy an iPhone 4 without a simlock in the USA?
    Thanks

Hi Cagri, Yes good for you doing some research before you buy. As stated the US iPhone is simlocked and cannot be officially unlocked. If you are going to be close to Canada you can buy a unlocked phone from an Apple Retail Store. If you do so, please bring a micro sim from your carrier to ensure it will work before you head home. Also note that is you buy an iPhone from another country, if any warranty issues you will need to ship the phone to someone you know in that country, Canada or UK, and have them bring it to Apple for service. All at your expense. While you may be initially saving 1/3 of the cost, it could cost you much more down the road.
Hope this info will help you.
    Good Luck.
