It's possible to develop portlets with Jdev 10.1.3.0 ?

Hi all,
I'm currently using Jdev 10.1.3.0 and I need to develop a portal (and portlets) using AS Portal 10.1.4.
I tried to install the PDK on jdev 10.1.3.0, but that didn't work well.... do i need to upgrade my jdev version or there's another way to develop portlets for AS Portal 10.1.4 ?
Thanks,
Rui

Hi,
Use Jdevloper 10.1.3.2 version which comes up with portlet devlopment stuff.

    Hello Rui,
    I experience the same problem. PDK is not compatible with JDev 10.1.3. Actually I'm developing with the prevoius release of JDev, 10.1.2.2, with PDK extension and it works fine.
    Bye,

  • Portlets in JDev 10.1.3

    Hi,
    I need to create Portlets With JDeveloper Release 3 10.1.3 EA1 Version 10.1.3.0.3.3412 (Using Wizard).
    Before, With JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 and 10.1.2, I was installing one plug-in PDK.
    Now, with JDeveloper 10.1.3, I cannot generate Portles Using Wizard?
    - For that?
    - That lacking me?
    - Is it possible to create Portlets with the Wizard in 10.1.3 Jdeveloper Version?
    Regards
    Sergio

    Hi Justin,
    There is an option to create portlets in JDeveloper. But, for that you need either of these Versions JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 or JDeveloper 10.1.2. You need to add a patch of PDK software for developing portelts.
    For the download of above software you could follow up the link

  • Developing with JDev 10.1.3.0.1 for BPEL 10.1.2.0.2

    Hi,
    Does anyone knows if it is possible or adviseble to develop with JDev 10.1.3.0.1 to deploy the processes in OC4J BPEL 10.1.2.0.2?
    If it is, is there any issues involved?
    Tks

    in general you could develop bpel 10.1.2.02 compliant processes, but it would create a bunch of possible hazards you could run into - deployment structure, new services, workflow and so on .. add'ly you cannot deploy from jdev 10.1.3.1 to bpel 10.1.2.0.2 server -- all in all not really recommendable, and not really supported too :D

  • How to have one provider with multiple portlets in JDev 11g

    Hi,
    I am trying to create Oracle PDK Portlets using JDeveloper 11g but for each portlet JDeveloper is creating a provider. As In JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 we can have one provider with multiple portlets in it. But JDev 11g creates provider for each portlet. How can we have one provider with multiple portlets in JDev 11g. Is it something changed in 11g version or am I doing it wrong. As the Help says we can have multiple portlets in one provider but when creating portlets it does not do that. Any help is appreciated.

  • Announcing: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper

    Just Released: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper
    A supplemental developer's guide has been published to help guide WLP 10.x customers that wish to use JSF as the web framework for building portlets on WebLogic Portal. This is a sizable document (150 pages) that covers a large number of topics. It also coaches developers on best practices and common pitfalls.
    Important: It also clarifies the supported configuration of JSF within Portal Web Projects. Workshop for WebLogic by default configures a web project in a configuration that is not supported by WebLogic Portal. The guide explains how to address this:
    * Change from the unsupported MyFaces JSF implementation to the supported Sun Reference Implementation (RI)
    * Change from the unsupported "client" STATE_SAVING_METHOD to the supported "server"
    The guide can be downloaded here:
    http://download.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/portal/weblogic-portal-jsf-whitepaper.pdf

    Hi Peter!
    First, I wish to thank you for the great work.
    We followed your whitepaper and managed to deploy a JSF portlet on WLS.
    But we are not able to register it (consume it) as remote portlet in Oracle Portal 10.1.4. The error log is as follows:
    An error occurred while trying to refresh the provider. (WWC-43190)

  • The ANT comes with JDev 9.0.4 - is that for development build?

    The ANT comes with JDev, is it the latest version? Do I need to download latest and from somewhere and how do I integrate ANT with JDeveloper? Would it be just for the development build? If I integrate ANT with JDev, that wouldn't bge for release or production build - would it? In that case, I need to install ANT externally!

    Apache has released several versions of Ant since JDeveloper 9.0.4 was released. I believe the version of Ant that shipped with JDeveloper 9.0.4 was Ant 1.5.1 (you can always verify the Ant version by using the echo task to print out the "${ant.version}" property).
    If you want to upgrade to the lastest version (currently, Ant 1.6.1), see the thread "New ant version" in this forum. We will also be shipping the latest release of Ant with future releases of JDeveloper.
    I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the Ant integration being for the development build versus release build. You can choose to configure Ant to be the default build mechanism for your JDeveloper project, in which case it will be used for all builds. Or you can simply open your buildfile in the project, and right click on it to run specific targets. In the latter case, the Ant integration would only be for specific builds.
    Hope that answers your questions.

  • ColdFusion and Portal Development (Portlet Toolkit)

    I realize the Portlet Toolkit released was just a proof of
    concept, but I was wondering if anyone has actually uses it for
    ongoing development. I was able to deploy and run the example
    Portlets on a IBM Portal v6 instance without any issues (since
    IBM's api's are only deprecated), but I can't figure out how the
    development process would work.
    To deploy the toolkit war you had to use an Ant script to
    merge it with the ColdFusion MX 7 war. Given this how would you
    ever hot deploy and develop in iterations as you normally do today
    with CF development alone? Would you manually deploy an extracted
    version of this merged WAR and edit the CFCs on the DEV server
    itself? Normal portlet development relies on the RAD tool to hot
    deploy changes in the portlet project to the Portal server so you
    can code and test with as little interruption as possible.
    If editing the cfcs on the DEV server itself is the only way
    to develop this seems to make development impractical with CF.
    Especially if you can't just map a drive out to the DEV server. I'm
    new to Portlet development but can't see a way to resolve this
    circumstance. Am I missing something? Any suggestions? Any other
    thoughts on the concept in general? We have large number of
    in-house CF developers which far exceed the number of Java Portlet
    developers and this might be a way to alleviate that problem (at
    least in the short run).
    -Tim

    I've been using the Portlet tool kit for quite a while. I run
    websphere test server right on my desk top and I manually deploy my
    cfc to there. When the devlopment is done, I place my new cfc in to
    cfportlet.war file and update the portlet through WS.

  • Building portlets with PL/SQl vs java

    Hi
    We are planing to use oracle 9iAS application server(Enterprise version)to build portal application.
    Can someone suggest me which one should i use, building portlets with j2ee or building portlets with PL/SQL.
    what are the advantages of web providers over database providers?which one is the best way of building portlets.

    Hello
    I've been using Portal for years now, and I'm still developping in PL/SQL. It's very simple and quick to developp. I'm even not using any database providers, I'm just invoking my procedures via their URLs with some Ajax hidden components, and I could developp some screens like employees vacations managements, trombinoscope, portal statistics, etc ...
    I learnt at Oracle how to developp some "true" portlets with DB providers but it's not usefull for me at this time as I don't need portlet customization etc.
    BUT
    if I had to developp a really big project with several developpers I would use DB providers.
    And maybe I would use Java but it takes rather long time to be efficient with this language and it needs to be a realy big project for I start using this language. And as explained above Java offers more compatibility with 3rd party products.
    And last but not least, one has to know what Oracle is more and more dealing with Java, the next 11g version that has just released is much more using Java than 10g does, and that's true for every Oracle products.
    So it's just a matter of skill and time.
    A.

  • Is it possible to develop the control charts in WAD.

    Hi Gurus and Experts
    We need your suggestions to go futhure with our requirement.
    Right now KPI's are currently displayed in graphical form with the
    ability to drill down into WO's( Work orders) from the graph page. our
    new requirement is to get exactly the same set of information captured
    and presented in control chart form. This is to be an adjunct. to, not
    replace, the existing graphical set of data. Upper and lower control
    limits will be set initially by the business, and the same drill down
    functionality should be available from the control chart. The charts
    can be displayed seperately from the exisiting set of charts if this
    makes it easier.
    Can you please suggest us whether is it possible to develop the control
    charts and also have the functoinalities of the existing dashboards
    (example drill down of WO's using the control charts) in WAD or through
    viusal composer
    Waiting for your responses..
    Thanks

    Hello dj_page!
    Thanks for the answer, but I know this already.
    My problem is, that the small picture in the side panel and the histogram in LR5 are bigger than in LR4.
    The two pictures are showing the difference between the versions.
    On the left hand (LR4) you can see a smaller preview and histogram than on the right hand (LR5).
    In each version you can change the size of the side panel only as small as the preview-window is.
    The pictures are also showing the smallest size of the side panel in each version.

  • Bug or feature : Using portlets with edit mode on a page in the portal

    Hi,
    i am using Workshop 8.1 (GA release july) and i have discovered a bug (or a
    feature) with respect to the beta version.
    i have created a simple portlet with a view mode and an edit mode. When i
    place the portlet on the very first page of a one book portal, it works
    perfectly. However, i have a book with three pages and placed the portlet on
    the second page. Now when i put the portlet in edit mode, by clicking the
    edit button, i am directed to the first page of the portal and the portlet
    will not show.
    Inspection learned that the URL generated for the edit button, didn't
    contain the _pagelabel parameter. When i added the parameter manually it
    works fine.
    A final remark is that the buttons in the titlebar have no icons the browser
    can load.
    hope someone can help me out,

    Can you please post this question to weblogic.developer.interest.portal

  • How to use VPD in Java/Struts JSP portlet with SSO

    DB = 10.1.0 (Standard Edition)
    Portal = 9.0.4.1
    10gAS = 9.4.0.1 (EE)
    I am in the beginning stages of developing some portlets that will be Java/Struts JSP based. We use SSO and have implemented some VPD security in our DB by creating some views that use SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','CURRENT_USERID').
    These Java portlets connect to the DB using a defined JDBC connection for the OC4J container they are deployed in. The problem I'm having is that the call to SYS_CONTEXT is returning the user of the JDBC connection and not the SSO user. So far I have been unable to find any documentation that will point me in the right direction to get this configured properly.
    Deployment and configuration are as follows. Deploy war file to custom container on app server. In the configuration of the OC4J contain the app used the containers default JDBC connection using the oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource class. Max and Min open connections are blank.
    In the portal configuration under Navigator - Providers tab we defined a new Registered Provider. In the Connections tab for the provider we Specify the URL Http://hpsrv02.simsol.com:7777/discovery-portlets/providers. Under "Specify how the user's identity will be set by the Portal..." the "The user has the same identity in the Web providers application as in the Single Sign-On identity" is selected. Under "User/Session Information" User is selected and Login Frequency is set to "Once per user session". Then we created a new portal page and created a new portlet with the new provider.
    Just an FYI I do have Discoverer working with VPD and any report portlet, dynamic page portlet and any other type of portlet I created all work correctly with VPD it is just the java/struts one that is not working.
    So does any one have any insight into what configuration steps I have missed?
    Any help is much appreciated,
    Ed Klinger

    Ed,
    Your java code must get the SSO username (it's just a HTTP header variable) :
    ie: code sample...
    Enumeration e = request.getHeaderNames();
    while (e.hasMoreElements()) {
    String name = (String)e.nextElement();
    String value = request.getHeader(name);
    out.println("<br> "+name + " = " + value);
    if (name.toUpperCase().trim().equals("OSSO-USER-DN")){
    dn_user=value;
    out.println("<br>******** USER DN = "+dn_user);
    Then, the SSO username can be used in the VPD policy.
    Note that there is a difference between the sso username and the database username . SSO username is not known by database (CURRENT_USERID will return a database username)
