It's starts, task manager lists it, but nothing shows up - what's going on?
I have Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for Windows Vista. It has been working fine until recently. Now when I click to start it, nothing happens. If I open task manager, it says that it's running, but there's no welcome screen, nothing. The icon doesn't show up on the taskbar.

Premiere Elements 12 on Windows Vista (is that 32 or 64 bit)? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Updates? If not, please do so.
Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 12 and are you running the program as administrator?
Is your computer's video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
When you find the program running in the Task Manager/Processes, do you right click its listing and select End Task and then try to start the program by double clicking the desktop icon? Are you working with a dual monitor set up?
With your Windows Vista computer, can you find the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file, right click it and select Run As Administrator, and then then double click Adobe Premiere Elements.exe to open it?
Please review and consider and then we can decide on troubleshooting strategy.

I have similar issue, with the last update , the email icons have changed and for my Optimum account they do not offer an icon, it just lists Other to select. Once the account is activated I got flooded with over 7000 emails! This never happened before the update. I went to manage the amount of email for that account and found that function is not longer available for this account yet it's available for my gmail and my exchange accounts. Tried speaking with an actual Apple rep who took my number in case we got disconnected and low and behold mid stream of him telling me he had to escalate this to a superior I got disconnected and he never called me back. No resolution and to get anyone at support is ridiculous. The only reason I have an iPad is because is was a gift otherwise I would not own an Apple product if you paid me. Can't wait to get rid of this and go with Surface. So now I have no resolution to me email situation other than turning the account off or deleting it. Very unhappy with Apple. When they do these updates they should thoroughly research before they give to out to consumers and screw up their systems. So done with them!

When I close Firefox, then later want to start up again, I get I message that Firefox is still running. With "START TASK MANAGER", I need to close Firefox in order to start again.
I have the same problem. Firefox won't unload regardless of how long I wait. Literally hours ... I must go in and 'end the process'. This has been a real hassle for a while now. Even considered giving up on firefox. Please look into this! An additional problem; I have to run firefox to get the updates, but I can't get the updates to take because I can't get firefox to unload so I can restart it.

Why Do I Get An UAC Prompt When I Start Task Manager From The Desktop?

In Windows 7 Ultimate x64 if I start Task Manager by right clicking on the taskbar and selecting it it starts without any UAC prompt running in my security context. It is only if I click on show processes from all users that I get an UAC
prompt for an administrator password.

http://www.saberman.comI think I see why we were having a disconnect earlier when discussing this. I had some time so I did some more testing and found the following.
Fresh Windows 8 install with a normal user account (non-admin) has NO UAC PROMPT for taskmgr, regedit, etc. It just opens under the current user context, same as Windows 7 did.
Upgraded Windows 8 from Windows 7 install gives a UAC prompt for taskmgr, etc. under the same situation. I made sure they were in the same OU with the same policies and the same UAC level. No prompts! That's the part that never made sense
to me. If you can run an app and then use your non-admin credentials at the UAC prompt and it still runs, why did it prompt in the first place? Makes no sense. And it turns out that it doesn't look like this is default behavior but something
messed up on the 7-to-8 computers I'm dealing with.
So am I missing some setting or something for Windows 7 to 8 upgrade or is this a bug?
I just started seeing that behavior on a computer that has a fresh installation of windows 8. For a few weeks after installation, it worked as expected. Then it started prompting for user credentials when running task manager as a non-admin user.
If I enter the credentials of the user who started it (the non-admin user I'm logged on as) it opens and works as expected. -
Sry for disturbing, but i would to ask that how to overcome the problem of synchronising ? Itune showing me that the sync session is failed to start with my Ipad mini. Any ideas about what is going on ?

I also had upgraded my iPad Mini to ios 7 & then the 1st time I tried to open a Numbers file that was set up to sync w my MacBookPro, I got a warning that I would not be able to sync it any more w my Mac until I upgraded to Mavericks.
So if you are trying to sync Numbers, Pages or Keynote files between your iPad mini in ios 7 and a Mac that hasn't been upgraded to Mavericks that could be the problem.
I was very shocked to get that message since I bought Numbers on the iPad so that I could have a particular file on both devices & keep them synced. I had no clue when I upgraded to ios 7 on the iPad Mini that it would make it so the files in the iWorks apps woudln't sync any more.
So I finally decided to go ahead & upgrade to Mavericks after carefully preparing & updating other software so that it would work w Mavericks. But I got error messages so haven't even been able to download Mavericks & now having 2nd thoughts about doing so.

Earlier today my bookmarks were there. Later tonight, not there.
I've tried the whole restore bookmarks process, I've copied the folder and deleted the places file thing. None of that has worked.
What's weird is if I type something in in the URL box that I know is in my bookmarks, it will show up like it's in the history. But nothing shows up in my bookmarks folder at all.
I need some help on this as I've tried almost every way I've read and nothing has brought them up. And like I said in the title, I have over 800 bookmarks and a lot of them are work related.Another user had a similar problem a couple of days ago, but was fortunate to have a backup of places.sqlite to restore. When you deleted places.sqlite file and Firefox regenerated your database, it presumably used the most recent backup. I wonder whether the most recent backup contains the same mysterious corruption. Do you want to try recovering from the next older one?
In your profile folder, after exiting Firefox, open the bookmarkbackups folder and move the most recent JSON backup file(s), anything from today, to a safe location (e.g., your Documents folder). Then go back up a level and rename places.sqlite to something like places.wtf.

When you start Firefox, it should rebuild the places database again, this time with that older backup. Any difference? -
I tried to sync my iphone4 to my pc (not mac) and the following message went out: I tunescould not back up the iphone because an error occurred I restore my phone but nothing happened. What shall I do? (my ipad is working perfectly when i sync it)
I dont know why this happens.Unfortunately, "because and error occured" doesn't give you much to go on. Some general things I would try if you haven't already:
Use Disk Utility on your mac to repair disk permissions, then reboot and try backing up again.
Use Finder to go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/, then control-click on the Backup folder and select Get Info, then check Sharing & Permissions at the bottom and make sure your username has read & write priviledges
Try closing all apps, then reset your phone: double-tap the home button, tap and hold the apps at the bottom until they wiggle, tap the minus sign on all apps to close them. Then reset your phone: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), and release
Try a different usb to dock connector cable; ensure that your case isn't interfering with a good connection to the dock connector at the bottom of your phone; clean the dock connector at the bottom of your phone (e.g., with a dry toothbrush); troubleshoot your usb connection (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286)
I know this looks like a laundry list, but unfortunately it's hard to isolate the problem without a clear error message. If the problem persists, you might try posting in the iMac or iTunes forums for other ideas. -

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

When I power up my Envy the green light comes on, everything sounds the way it normally does, but nothing appears on the screen. This has happened before but I didn't address it at the moment, went out of town and returned with it working just fine. Not sure what the problem can be. Please help!

When user clicks on "Like Button," the counter increases but nothing shows up showing the user recommends my site to their friends. What did I do wrong?
I used the iframe code from Facebook's "Like Button" site; and inserted the code in the html widget popup box, then positioned it where I wanted it on my page and published. It looks fine (though I had to add "http" before my url to get it to show up).
So, when a user clicks on button, a pop-up opens asking for Facebook password. When I (the user) enter a password, nothing happens after that. I thought the idea was that a user would be able to show their friends that they like my website. After I entered my password in pop-up after clicking on "Like" I went to my facebook page (a company page) to see if it showed that I (the user that clicked on "Like" on iweb) recommended the website. But nothing showed up. I thought maybe it was because Facebook associated my password as the admin for the Facebook page so didn't count it. But a friend tried it and same thing happened. I went back and on one page I put in another facebook code for a combo Like/Send button. It shows up but acted the same as the regular Like button.
Questions:
1. Is this the way the Like Button is suppose to work? Only benefit of Like button being that it just counts the clicks on the Like button and does NOT let users share their recommendation with their friends?
2. If it's suppose to let users share their "Likes" with their friends, what did I do wrong? There were three types of code but in reading discussions, they all say to use iframe. (I used the first choice which I think was html for Javascript SDK and put that in my HTML Snippit box and the Like/Share button showed up on my iweb page next to the facebook icon and the words "likes this" but when I click it, I don't see instructions that it's sending my recommendation to my friends.)
I must have done something wrong, but can't figure out what. Does anyone know? If the only benefit of the Like Button is the counter, it doesn't seem worthwhile.

They recieve a message in the inbox.
There's no post on a page.
If they want that, then they should share the link themselves.
Perhaps it's best to study what facebook has to offer and how it works instead of guessing what it is supposed to do and be disappointed. -

Yesterday i synced my music to my ipod touch from iTunes. the musice went on but nothing showed up on the ipod in the 'recently added' folder. now today i went to connect it to the laptop and neither my computer or iTunes recognized the ipod. 1st a message showed up saying an ipod was detected but cuddn't be identified so reconnect and when i did nothing showed up again. i have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and restarted the computer a number of times but the ipod still wont show up. I just purchased a new mac mini and would like to use my old dell monitor. I tried a HD to VGA adapter converter,it plugs in, but nothing shows on the monitor. Any suggestions?
What do you mean by "HD to VGA adapter converter"?
Do you mean have an HDMI to VGA adapter connected the the Mini's HDMI port?
Or maybe you plugged n the the included HDMI to DVI adapter and then connected a DVI to DVI adapter?
In either case that will not work since VGA is analog and the Mini's HDMI port is digital only.
You need to purchase a mini displayport to VGA adapter. It plugs into the Mini's Thunderbolt port.
