It says my ipod cant play videos!!!!!

i have a 30GB white ipod. but whenever i try to put my videos on my ipod from itunes, it says my ipod cannot play videos. i thought if the video was already in itunes, it was already converted................somebody please help!!! thanks a million

The ability to play a file in iTunes means that is is QT compatible -- not neccessarily iPod compatible.
If the message states that a particular file is not playable on the iPod, then the file is either in the wrong format or one or more parameters does/do not meet iPod compatiblity restrictions. For instance, a DivX MPEG4 video file with MPEG layer-3 audio would not be playable. Normally, it is a simple problem associated with video data rate limitations or failure to use a specific required profile for the format you are employing. In addition, movie content can sometimes "trick" the encoder and cause a momentary "peak" in the data rate that triggers iTunes to reject the file during sync operations.
If the message states that the iPod "generically" cannot play videos, then you do not have an iPod model with video capabilities.
