It says my pod is sync with another itunes but it isnt??
Please help as i am having this with my sons ipod and my iphone. If i sync it i will loose all data. Any ideas?
Back up manually both devices and use the manual created backup to restore from after your devices have been wiped during the first sync.
To back up manually do this:
Make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes, right click on the device in the device list, choose transfer purchases.
All purchased media will be copied to the computer.
Right click again and choose "backup" to perform a backup without the sync process.
Make sure that at least one event and contact is listed on the computer before you sync, to be able to merge contacts and calendar data.
Your devices will be erased during the first setup, but you can restore them from the manual backup you made before.

I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library. However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.
I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over. Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over? I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another. Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

As far as I am aware I only have one itunes library on the computer. Does anyone know how to fix this error please?

My computer crashed and I downloaded Itunes on a new computer and I'm trying to get new music and it says my Ipod is synced with another itunes library {my dead computer} and I can either erase and sync or transfer itunes purchases. Is there any way possible I dont have to erase my music? So frustrating.
Yes. I have no personal experience with this, but it is possible to recover your music from an iPod. See this link: http://guides.macrumors.com/Recovering_Songs_from_an_iPod

Iphone says it is already synced with another library, but it's not
My iphone says it is already synced with another library, but it's not.
I have the exact situation and it is frustrating me. All I want is my original iTunes Library back!
I have not synced to another computer what so ever. Does anyone know how to set my iTunes library to my original? I don't want to erase everything and start from new.
Please let me know! -
When I connect my shuffle (2nd gen.) to my computer, it says that my ipod is synced with another itunes librar. And that an ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time. My shuffle is only synced with the library on this computer. What should I do? I can't play my ipod on the computer, or sync it, charge it....
If you moved your iTunes library by simply copying it to another drive, you may not be able to access your music even if you reconnect to that library, you may get a lot of "not found" errors because the music is not where the library thinks it should be. First thing to do is put it back where it was. Then reconnect it. Then follow the steps in this link:

Hi,
I just bought an I-Phone 5S. When plugging it to my Macbook for the 1st time to copy music from my I-Tunes, this message comes up: "The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library on “localhost". Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?"
Pls help. I'm always so scared I can loose all my contacts if i am to answer "yes". Also, why am I being told the IPhone is synced with another ITunes Library when it's litterally not been connected to any at all? I dont get it.
What shall I do?
Thanks for your help,

This would indicate that you bought a Used iPhone and/or have Connected it to another iTunes Library.
By design an iPhone can only sync to One iTunes Library at a time. -

I am trying to sync my iphone 4s with my new macbook pro and it says that i need to erase the content because i am connected to another itunes store, which i am but i dont know if i want to erase my content.... any sugustions???
"would it work if i backed up or restored my iphone on my macbook? "
No.
"The computer it is synced to is a dell"
So, copy everything from the Dell to the Mac.
Your iphone will be erased and the content replaced with the content from the new computer. You need to amke sure that everything is on the new computer.

How to Use Multiple iDevices with One Computer -
So my Mac got wiped, obviously all my iTunes bought songs and stuff are rested but in lost most of my Garage band Productions, now the ones that had luckily gone to my phone won't transfer to ituens?
No, it is just saying it is a different iTunes library. If your computer was wiped then the original one is gone and the phone does not recognize the library there.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a wiped or new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer. Your Garageband creations are obviously not iTunes Store purchases and should be restored from the backup you make for just this kind of situation.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
Someone please help
There isn't a seamless solution unless you fall asleep and wake up when computers have reached the Star Trek level of development.
iTunes does not actively scan for additions to the media folder. The only way a library knows something has been added its if that particular library did the adding. If you add with one library and then start another using the same media folder it won't see the addition unless you also add it to that one.
You could split your media storage with a single library, keeping some on the external and some on the internal. If the external is not attached and you try to play a song iTunes will present you with a ! saying the link is broken, but if you quit iTunes, attach the drive and restart the links should fix themselves again. There isn't a way to get one iTunes library to automatically update another except what might be possible with Home Sharing and I don't know if this extends to your particular application. I believe it might also end up duplicating media like crazy. I can't run Home Sharing so I can't test it to see exactly what is possible. It may require you be running the libraries from different user accounts.
You could search on the web for third party tools that might synchronize multiple libraries. -
I have an iPhone 3GS and have never added any music to the device as I had an iPod. The iPhone and iPod are hooked up to the same computer and same iTunes account. My iPod recently broke and now I am trying to add some of my music to the iPhone but I get a message that says: The iphone is synced with another iTunes Library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTune's library?
I have never had the iPhone hooked up to another iTunes account. I don't want to accept and say yes and lose all the info on my iPhone.
Any tips or recommeI'm having the same problem after upgrading my iPhone 3Gs to iOS 5 (and upgrading iTunes to 10.5). I noticed after doing this the ring tone I was using for incoming calls was no longer on the phone. Before the upgrade I was syncing ringtones with iTunes without problems. My contacts and apps still still sync as before, but when I try to enable syncing for ring tones in iTunes, I get the message reported at the beginning of this thread. Any risk of losing anything if I go ahead and enable ring tone syncing? The message is definitely misleading.
