  • Everytime I close firefox it loses my passwords and settings

    everytime I close firefox it loses my passwords and settings, I went and took the tick out of the box so that when I clean my cache they should not be deleted. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, and it still will not remember passwords etc. I am running windows 7, plenty of ram and gigs to spare. This time I installed mozilla firefox yahoo!7 edition yahooauk-1.8 it says it is up to date

    After I close Firefox I am unable to reopen, I get a message that I can't reopen until I close it, but it is already closed. This is happening almost every time I close Firefox. I have to restart my computer in order to open Firefox.

    Same problem here thinking to move away from firefox now

  • I keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get it when I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon.

    I've just installed Firefox on my laptop and keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get this message whenever I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon. I've never gotten it to work and even uninstalled it and then redownloaded it and still cannot get it to open. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Are you installing from the official site? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
    If you use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to check that path, is the Mozilla Firefox folder there? That is the normal installation location, but I think it's worth checking.
    If the folder isn't there or firefox.exe is not in it, I wonder whether some other software might be interfering. You might want to run some supplemental security scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

  • Everytime I close firefox, sync forgets that I used it

    I have used sync on two different computers. It works perfectly while the browser is open, but as soon as I close it and reopen the browser, Firefox asks me to setup Sync all over again.
    I do use pretty secure settings, and Firefox is set to delete all of my personal data everytime I close the browser, but this shouldn't affect sync. I want to use sync primarily for open tabs on other computers and for bookmark transfers.
    Hope someone can help. This is pretty frustrating, considering I've setup sync on these same two computers about 10 times.

    The password for the Sync server and the Sync key are both stored in the Password Manager, so if you clear the passwords then that data is lost and you will have to re-enter it.

  • I love app tabs but everytime I close firefox they are not there when I open it, help

    I just discovered app tabs and found it really easy to set them up but each time I close Firefox and then reopen, all the app tabs I have set no longer exist. How do I get them to save?

    App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox profile folder.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore
    Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.
    *App Tab Initializer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/app-tab-initializer/

  • Everytime i close firefox, i get an error message about quicktime not working. 6 times.

    browsing normally, close firefox, i get an error message about quicktime not working. i click ok. then another comes up. i click ok. 6 times total this error message comes up, every time i close firefox. really annoying.

    If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    *Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
    *Install the new version that you have downloaded
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_Firefox#Mac_OS_X
    Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    You can also try to repair the disk permissions:

    I close firefox with the X like I close all of my applications but every time I close it I get a popup box saying that firefox has crashed do you want to send a crash report and I can type in what happened. Then I can choose to close firefox or restart it.

    Note that Firefox 3.6.x is not officially supported with Flash 11.3

  • Everytime I close Firefox, "Remember passwords option gets unchecked"

    I recently noticed that Firefox is NOT remembering my passwords. When I go to Options->Security-> and check "Remember Passwords," the options stays checked ONLY FOR THAT SESSION. When I close Firefox, and then reopen it, the check box is always "unchecked."

    If that line is missing then that means that the pref has the default "true" value and in that case the box should be checked on the next start.
    You did try Save mode to see if an extension is changing that setting?

  • Everytime i close firefox and re-open the browser it forgets my passwords to my websites, like it has amnesia. why?

    its only my account on my laptop that does this.
    my boyfriend's account allows him to open firefox browser and it goes right to his facebook without him having to sign in everytime.
    not just that website, hotmail, google, they all work for his and not mine. all of the system settings are exactly the same. I've examined every setting I have access to and I can't tell what's wrong.

    Try changing your startup option to your home page or a blank tab here:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > General > "When Firefox starts"

  • My Firefox would not connect to Internet--had to use IE explorer to get on Internet. What's wrong with Firefox?

    I have downloaded Firefox again--Firefox Setup Stub 26.0 and tried to install but received message that I had to close Firefox first. I did not have Firefox open. When I do try to open it Firefox appears on my desktop monitor but it will not do anything after that. I can't even close it and have to go into my task manager to get it to close. Thanks be to God I didn't uninstall IE because that is what I have to use now to get on the Internet. Is there any solution to this problem I am having? This happens to me quite often and I have been considering returning to IE as my browser instead of continuing with Firefox.

    Sometimes Firefox will hang during startup or shutdown, and still be running invisibly in the background. Usually in that case, you need to "kill" it either by restarting Windows or using the Windows Task Manager. It sounds as though you are familiar with opening the Processes tab, finding firefox.exe, and using End Process.
    If you use an advanced firewall or other security software that tracks which programs are permitted to use the internet, please see these articles:
    * [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]
    * [[Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet]]
    A couple of other suggestions:
    (1) Can you start Firefox in its Safe Mode? Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. You should get a two-button dialog. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset). Any difference?
    (2) In case your regular software missed something that is interfering with Firefox, try the scanning and clean-up tools listed in this article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]

  • I recently installed 7.0.1 on two Windows 7 Enterprise x64 systems. Now everytime I close Firefox I receive an error "Firefox has stopped working" and I have to click close. Works fine on a Windows XP SP3 x86 machine.

    "Firefox has stopped working"
    "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."
    I tried installing two ways; clean and upgrading from 6.0.2. I receive the same error message upon exit.

    I followed the troubleshooting guide for extensions and themes, and still have the issue.
    I modify the package to redistribute with SCCM, and I like to modify Firefox manually. This process has worked fine until 7.0 or 7.0.1. I extract the files from firefox setup 7.0.1.exe, then I extract the files from omni.jar, so I can modify settings in firefox.js to remove updates, setting firefox as the default browser, etc.. I run setup.exe and include a setup.ini as part of my installation command line to remove icons.
    I tried just extracting .exe, and the files from omin.jar but not modifying anything and left out the .ini file and it still fails to close properly.
    Like I said the above process works fine on XP.
    If I install 7.0.1 via the download .exe on Win7 Enterprise x64 it works fine. I'm still looking into it.
