logic the program we all shelled out at least 2 bills for,
I know one (logic) is more pro, but does that mean it has to be
so hard to use?
The idea was to spend for time on creating music no?

The only way is to make a level advance (i.e. to STUDY...).
GB is made to be used without any knowledge but when you begin to climb higher you need some knowledge.
It's the same with any other software from text to viedo and photo editors, design, illustration etc.
You can buy Illustrator but if you don't know how to design and which are the features that permits to you to make a pro work that's remain just a game.
And about music, if you want to play a guitar you have to know how to play, how to change the strings, how to obtain bendings, tapping, fingerpicking etc.
So my advice is: *don't give up, you'll see (or better hear) the results*.

I am an Apple Powerbook, iBook, iMac and 3rd Gen iPod user. All these products have performed exceptionally well. In terms of OS both OS9 and OSx have been excellent. I started from 0 knowledge and soon found that the Apple designers had already worked out the problems that I would have had before I even new I had any. In other words, provided I used common sense and patience I found that I could work through the harder to understand areas with positive results. What great products.
In terms of hardware I have had all the usual problems (mother boards, hard drive, track pad and super drive failure) all of which, as I understand come down to the component manufactures and not Apple.
As I understand the first iPod products were designed to play MP3 music and by the 3rd Gen these products had been refined in a manner that made them a world leader. Then came the 4th Gen iPod, again an even better MP3 player with the bonus of Photo ability or is it. On reading Apple Discussions iPod with colour display there appears to be no end to the problems that people are experiencing with reference to the Photo ability, it goes on and on!.
I am therefore interested to know if the 2nd Gen of the Photo ability has been refined to that of the now MP3 ability and ease of use within the new 5th Gen iPod Video as very little has been mentioned within the Apple Discussions iPod with video. If it has then 2/3rds of the product is worth having MP3 / Photo ability with a ? over video ability that can only improve with time. However if the Photo ability still has the problems as mentioned in Apple Discussions iPod with colour display then something is wrong; 1/3rd of the product is worth having MP3 and 2/3rd not with a ? now over Photo ability and a ? over Video ability.
If this is so, then am I right in saying that as consumers we are rushing into Video ability on a false foundation as Apple are turning these iPod products out with added features that are no longer working in a user friendly manner or are we consumers all a bit thick?.
I am not afraid of hearing the truth!.

I have a color iPod 4th gen, and I'm also interested in knowing what the big deal is! My 4G works perfectly, except when I occasionally overload the HD with commands. The only trouble I had was upgrading to iTunes 5 on my XP SP1, which destroyed its iPod software for good. But that's normal, because SP1 is too old for the iPod.
Any big problems with the 5G, spill 'em, I can't wait to hear the truth.

It seems like there are a lot of issues with the 3GS on iOS 5.1, should I stay with 4.3.5? Part of what worries me is that my business is completely reliant on this phone and the billing and job tracking software I use, so if something were to happen I would be in trouble. Also, myself not being all that tech savy I am wondering if by hooking my iphone up to itunes once every couple of weeks, is it creating a backup file? If I had to replace my phone could I just plug the new one into itunes and have all of my apps and data transferred onto the new phone? I want to get proactive about this so at the very least I'm not tempting fate.

Looking around here, what you are going to see is problems. People don't come to forums like this to talk about how smoothly their phone is working.
Backing up every couple of weeks is OK, if you can afford to lose several weeks worth of data.
That's one of the huge advantages of iOS5. Wireless backups to iCloud. Plug your phone in to charge at night, and if you have WiFi, it will back up without the need for you to do anything. If it gets run over by a truck, you get a new one, restore from iCloud, and off you go.
if you don't update, you're going to start running into problems soon as new versions of many apps REQUIRE iOS 5.

Email does not and has never synced between the iPhone and the computer. It sounds like you may have had your PC set up to use POP3 for e-mail, which will download e-mail from the server and delete it, causing it to vanish from your phone if the phone was set up for IMAP. IMAP provides full synchronization between the server and clients. What you delete on one will vanish from the others. This is the preferred method of managing e-mail as it prevents e-mail from being downloaded, for example, on a PC and making it inaccessible on your phone.

Do you have the original installation disc(s) that shipped with your MacBook? You're just going to have to start from scratch - as I doubt that you can recover any files without paying a fortune. Insert the installations disc, reformat your hard drive and then install the OS that came with your computer. Continue updating to 10.6.8 and then redownload and reinstall Mountain Lion again.
That's really the only way you're going to get your machine up and running again. I would also consider buying an inexpensive external drive to use as a backup in case your brother decides to do something stupid again.

Contact your "friend." Have him set up the MBP for your with your own account, settings and passwords. You are not running IOS 5.1. That is for iPhone and iPad users. What OS are you running? Did he give you the OS installer disks?

It also takes time for the photos to be transferred out of your iPhone and into Photo stream on Apple's iCloud servers.
Note that this can't happen if your iPhone is not connected to a WiFi network:

After upgrading to IOS 7.0.3 the problems gone.
There is no mention of this being a bug or a fix so im thinking a software glitch was the issue.
When I look at a message in my inbox and it says "To: JB Manz" - I click my name and it shows my contact info including my 4 email addresses and the address the message was addressed to is highlighted blue, others all black.

I'm overwhelmed by the number of available programs, all the things that each program can do and perplexed by the arguments for and against each feature in each program.
My needs are relatively simple for my small business: 1) I need to be able to import years worth of Quicken data into the new program 2) I need to easily print checks 3) I need to easily reconcile my checking account each month and 4) I need to generate basic reports for my accountant (e.g. P & L statements, category summaries).
I have been a FileMaker user since 1.0 so I don't need (or want) A/R, A/P, inventory management, invoicing, etc.
I just need a solid, dependable electronic checkbook per above.
Suggestions?

I would recommend you continue with Quicken Essentials. As noted by others, it performs well on Yosemite.
My personal experience is Quicken 2007 for Mac also on 10.7.5 (with many reports of it both updated and successfully running on Yosemite) and I personally would not touch Quicken Essentials with a 10 foot pole -- BUT, if it ain't broke for you, don't fix it!

The qualifying product is the older version that you owned before you purchased the upgrade to version. It is what qualifies you to use the less expensive upgrade version. So you need to select the older version and provide its serial number to prove that you qualify for using the upgrade.
