It shut down & wont power back up?

Today My iPhone I do believe has gone belly up like a gold fish in the sun. It just went down and I cannot get it back on. It wont even appear to be recharging. Even though it had almost a full battery. Does anyone here know why this is happening and then how to fix the problem?
Thanks for your input,
Lisa

It's likely that its a hardware failure, but some things to try are;
Plug it into your wall charger - do you get anything on the screen?
Plug into you computer - do you get anything on the screen? Does itunes detect that it's plugged in? If you have photos in the camera roll, does image capture detect the phone and show previews photos available for importing?
Can you put the phone into recovery mode for itunes to restore it? (beware, this mode will restore the phone's firmware and you may loose information off the phone) See here for instruction of how to do it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If none of these work, you will probably need to take it to Apple or their representative in your area for it to be checked.
Hope this helps

    Hi degirolamo,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to back up to iCloud your iPhone needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network.  To troubleshoot the issue of connecting to a Wi-Fi network, please follow the steps in the article linked to below.

  • ITunes crashed now Mac mini wont power back on

iTunes crashed now Mac mini wont power back on

You have not provided any information on which to base troubleshooting. Minimal information would include the Model Mac mini you have for example Mid 2010 Mac mini, exactly what happened when iTunes crashed, and what -- if anything -- happens when you try to restart. It is unlikely iTunes has anything to do with the failure to reboot but instead iTunes crashed because of what even caused your Man mini to fail.
Just as a starting point, be sure and check all your connections, power, monitor, keyboard, mouse, everything. You would not be the first to have a plug come adrift unexpectedly.

How do I know if my phone is charging when it just powered off and wont power back up?

Hold the power button and it should show a red battery icon with a lightning bolt symbol. That symbol indicates charging.

  • My iMac wont boot up properly. Stops at background pic, no dock, only little apple show up top and cursor sticks on little spinning wheel. Have to shut down manually in back and reboot to get it to work. Any ideas why this sometimes happens?

    I'm running OSX 10.9.1 (13B42)
My problem is that occasionally my Mac wont boot properly. It gets to the background picture where the dock should open but it freezes there. The little apple shows up top left but nothing else and the cursor shows as the little spinning wheel that wont do anything. I can't click on the apple to restart, I have to switch off in back and then start up again. It usally boots all the way after that but I'm worried there's something up since this seems to be happeneing more frequently. Also I'm worried that having to manually shut down like that will somehow damage the software in time?
I tried a disk verify but there were no repairs needed. I repaired disk permissions too just in case but it still seems to happen every once in a while.
I've noticed recently that it happens the next reboot after I've been streaming movies online if that helps. Is there any reason for this and anything i can do to stop it in the future?

Thanks Paul, just ran the etrecheck you recommended and got this:

  • Our Mini IPad shows a window box that states we have not backed up our I cloud in 9 weeks. Plug in with internet service.  That screen is froze. When you hit connect it does nothing. I tired to shut down, but power off button is greyed out so not an optio

Our I-Pad has never connected with our wireless internet from since we got it. Our laptop connects just fine and we have a strong signal.  We now have a locked screen stated that I-cloud has not been backed up in 9 weeks. Plug into internet?  However when you click the button to try to get to the internet it does nothing. The power off button is greyed out so not an option to shut down. Just froze on that screen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)
    Thank you in advance.

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Ipad wont shut down or power up?

Shut my IPad off this morning and closed the cover & plugged in to charge - 7 hours later it still has the little spinning circle spinning and will not shut down or awaken either.  Any ideas?

    As stated... Try a Reset...
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • K8N NEO2 shut down/wont post

Long story short. I cleaned my case, put it back together. System ran for a few minutes then shut down. It did that a few times then all it would do was turn on for a few seconds. Now it wont post at all. Any ideas? Thanks. SIK.

put components out one by one until it posts
also try to swap memory/power supply/ cpu and see if it post again
I know it is a long and hard process but it is the most effective way of solving the problem.

  • Satellite L40 won't shut down with power connected, and won't go in standby

Hi everybody. I hope someone can help me. Basically, there are two problems: one with shutting the laptop (Satellite L40-17U (Vista 32-bit Home Premium SP1) ) down when the power is connected, and one with closing the lid and putting it to sleep.
    1. Since a few weeks, it suddenly doesn't want to shut down, whenever the power is connected. When it is on battery, it will shut down. When the power is connected and I try shutting it down, it seems like it shuts down (all activity ceases and the LEDs go off) for about 1 or 2 seconds, and then it goes back on.
    2. When I close the lid (all settings in Vista are set to put the laptop in 'sleep' status when the lid is closed) the laptop goes into a state from which it can only be recovered by shutting it down by pressing the on/off button for about 10 seconds to completely shut it down. When closing the lid, only the battery LED keeps blinking orange (the way it should be), but apparently the laptop keeps consuming power, because when I reboot it later (first having to shut it down as described above) the battery tends to be quite a emptier than it was before rebooting it (like going from 100% to 65% in 30 minutes, while being in 'sleep' state). Also, when I open the lid, the other LEDs do go on again (green), but nothing happens.
After rebooting by first pressing the on/off button for 10 seconds to shut it down, I frequently get a message that Windows could not be started, and have to run System Repair.
I've just done a completely clean installation with the product recovery CD (didn't install SP1 yet), upgraded the BIOS to v1.90, but the problem remains.
I'm afraid my only option will be to bring it away for a warranty repair, but knowing that these repairs can take weeks, I'd prefer to try a solution anyone here could recommend me first. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Daniel Breslauer

    Hi guys
Never had such issue on my notebook but regarding to another users here in the forum the BIOS might help to solve such strange notebook behavior
To be honest the shut down issue is not known to me I noticed an standby issue on my notebook but the BIOS update helped.
Therefore I recommend updating the BIOS firstly.
If the issue will still appear, then the ASP should take a look into the notebook.
    Good luck

  • T410i shuts down when power unplugged

My T410i battery indicator shows 96%+, but if I unplug the power supply it will shut down within 4 seconds, and will not power back on unless I unplug the battery for a few seconds first. In addition, the fingerprint reader stopped working at all.
I ran the Lenovo hardware diagnostics, which gave the computer a clean bill of health.
For about a week after this phenomena began I had no issues as long as I did not unplug power while the computer was on. Today it turned off for no apparent reason while I was away from the computer and will not power on no matter what I do.
    Any suggested course of action??

    got warranty still?

  • Powerbook shuts down when power adaptor isn't plugged

I bought my powerbook G4 about 3 years ago and I've been having alot of problem with it in the past few months (yeah I know it's old lol).
When I first got it my friend told me not to use the battery while I'm working with the laptop, instead use the power adapter by removing the battery from the laptop and use the adapter instead. I tried to do that, and it didn't work.
Even now when I tried to remove the battery and just use the adapter, it's just doesn't want to start up.
I also got this problem whenever I'm using my laptop I always have to have the adapter plugged in or else it will shut down without any warning.
I checked the battery level with the button on the battery cover, it's always on 100% charged. BUT it won't turn up unless I plug the adapter in back.
I can't afford a new macbook pro so yeah =(
    thank you!

There is another battery involved: the backup battery or PRAM battery. It resides to the right and under the optical drive (see image from iFixit.com guide) and remembers startup configurations when there is no AC or main battery power connected.
My PB's backup battery is dead and, If I let the main battery run down, I have to reset the computer to get a valid restart even after reattaching the AC power adaptor. If the backup battery is dead, then what little life is left in your main battery will be doing the work to hold the system parameters when you are off AC power.
The backup battery looks like this:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Parts/images/products/155/155035s.jpg
It's a difficult install unless you are familiar with the inner workings of the Powerbook and how to get to them. It's also hard to find these that are new. And who wants a "Used" battery.

  • MacBook Pro 17inch shuts down after power is pressed

    Hello,
My MBP shuts down after I press power button.
It the boot process it goes as far as:
    chime
    grey screen
    grey screen with apple logo
then shuts down completely  (sometimes only chime etc.).
If it gets to the login screen, it works normally.
I did SMC and PRAM reset. I removed battery and tried to start it on power connected.
I reinstalled operating system and nothing seams to solve the problem.
I have read number of posts and tried all of the suggestions.
The most common suggested sources of the problem:
    battery
    graphics card
    hard drive
Please let me know if someone was able to solve similar problem.
    Thanks, T

The whole story doesn't make sense as anything but a hardware fault.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Why has my iBook started to completely shuts down when power runs out?

I purchased my iBook G4 in early 2006 (OSX 10.4.11)
Until last week, I would regularly use my laptop until the battery charge was used up. I would get a low charge warning and it would automatically sleep. I could then plug it in to charge. When it was plugged in, I could touch the track pad or power button and all of the programs that were open when the power ran out would be there, just as I left them.
This has recently changed. Now when the power runs out, I receive the same low charge message, but instead of sleeping, my computer completely shuts down. When I press the power button to reboot, everything starts back up fine, but I get a message that my date and time are off and need to be reset. I then go to the Date and Time menu, which automatically updates through my wireless connection.
    My questions are:
    1. Why is it shutting down instead of sleeping?
    2. Why is my date and time reseting to an incorrect date and time?

The difference is that in the past, your battery shut the computer down when their was enough juice to safely sleep the machine. Now it thinks it has enough juice, but it's truly running out. The battery is necessary to maintain the date and time in the computer.
Your battery needs to be calibrated. You should follow the instructions at:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1959.html
This will allow the battery to truly know how much juice it has left.
