It still won't convert a simple .doc file

Hello,
I've been desperately trying to convert a 94 page .doc file into .pdf by uploading it using my monthly subscription "Create Adobe PDF Online". However, I've tried numerous times and I always get an email that states: "Conversion for this document failed"
I've emailed tech support previously and, instead of trying to solve the problem, I was given instructions to download something to my printer so I can print it out.
I don't want to download anything; I just want to convert a .doc file into a .pdf by uploading to Adobe's system and then having them email me back the finished .pdf document.
Can any of you help?
Thanks.

Adobe Reader is a free product that is unable to produce PDF files from any kind of source file.
If you bought Adobe Reader, you were scammed. If in fact you are talking about Adobe Acrobat, then you're posting in the wrong forum.
Post in one of the Acrobat forums (for example http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/creating__editing_%26_exporting_pdfs), but provide more information, like your OS, exact version of Office (I highly doubt it's 3, since that was released in the early 90's) and Acrobat. Also be aware that you can't just open a Word file in Acrobat, you have to convert it first to a PDF, either from within Word or from Acrobat itself.

If I understand you correctly, you need to Scale and Position each clip.  These are part of the inherent Motion effect attached to every clip, found in the Effects Control Panel.

  • Converting docx to doc files using wordconv.exe

    Hello,
I have a requirement wherein I need to convert the docx files to doc files. I looked around and found the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File
Formats" ("http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en"). Installing this would place a bunch of files in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ directory. This folder also contains an executable named "Wordconv.exe" which according to http://www.oooninja.com/2008/02/office-compatibility-pack-review.html converts the docx files to doc files if you use the execute something like the following in the command prompt:-
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\wordconv.exe" -oice -nme <input file> <output file>
I downloaded the compatibility pack and tried the above command. Nothing happens. No error message,no output, nothing. I wonder what is the problem. In the above link, some guys have suggested to download the latest windows updates from Windows.
Well,I tried this in my Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) and only thing I am left to install in service pack 3. Is that required? This WIndows XP machine does not have the Office 2007 installed. Is it required?
Also,I tried this on a Windows server 2003 machine which also has the compatibility pack and result is same. This machine does have the Office 2007 installed.
Am I missing anything? If yes, please let me know as I am kinda stuck in this. I dont want to use a commercial product like "Aspose.Words" for this.
Is there any other tool available from Microsoft to convert docx to doc files? Please let me know.
I am cuurently looking into the Office tools.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ashish

  • How do I convert a Simple Sound file to a .WAV file?

    Since I have a Mac Mini (w/Intel CPU) I don't have a built-in microphone.
I do, however, have an OS 9.1 Wall Street Powerbook with a built-in mike.
I'd like to send voicemail to friends who use Windows XP
I used Simple Sound to record a message on the Powerbook and e-mailed
it to myself. Now what? IMovieHD will apparently (according to Pogue) convert the sound portion of a movie to .WAV but when I open a New Project in IMovieHD my sound file is ghosted.
Is there an app in Tiger that will convert the sound (voice) file? Or perhaps some freeware app out there?

    Hi, gwgoldb.
USB microphones are very inexpensive. I'd suggest getting one of those and simply doing the recording on your new Mac Mini.
    For recording:
    • You could use the previously-suggested freeware Audacity to record and save the recording as .wav. Note Audacity isn't a Universal Binary at this time, so it would run under Rosetta.
    •  Use QuickTime Pro for recording and converting (export) the recording to .wav. Some people balk at paying US$ 29.99 for a QuickTime Pro key, but I find it does a nice job in basic recording, converting audio/video, and basic A/V editing, all with the simplicity of the QuickTime interface.
    Good luck!

  • Convert from word .doc file to pages and pages to .doc.

When I save a pages document in word the formatting is hopelessly changed. I am writing a book and reformatting 400+ pages is not fun. PDF save is not appropriate because I send bits to folks using word. When the formatting is messed up, they have no idea what it actually looks like.
And of course the reverse is true. When I edit a piece created in word, pages changes the formatting creating hours of work. Are there any solutions to this?
If I had windows resident w/word would I still have the same issue? No reason to have windows on the Mac otherwise.
PS: Open office has the same issue.

Thanks for the input. I spoke to Apple about the issue and they said if I need to share documents with non-Pages using people, and wanted them to see what I see, my only choice is Word. They stated there is and will never be any 'fix' for the issue and I said, well, guess I have to stop using Pages.
PDFs are great for the finished product but you can't make changes to them and I need my editor to see what I see and make appropriate changes. This is not a font issue, it is about spacing, indentations, images and margins.
It is worse for my career coaching clients. A simple example: Their Word created Two page Resumes opened in Pages scroll to three or four even when they use Arial or other common font.
And why Pages crashes 15 times in an hour? No idea... Reload the application. Of course I did. That's not a fix. Well, it must be your documents then. And the finger points where?
For book writing purposes, Pages offers wonderful layout and easy formatting solutions. They just don't translate to Word making Pages useless except for stand-alone documents I can send as PDFs. And readers, be clear, when I purchased the MacBook Pro and Pages, I clarified how I would use it and that I needed to work between the two products. "Oh, yes, that's simple," said the eager sales dupe.
What a waste. I am now stuck editing my books myself which any author can tell you is a fool's errand. Back to the keyboard....

  • Converting .pdf and .doc files into .txt file

Can anyone here please tell me (a humble programmer) if there's anything in Java to help me accomplish the above, i.e. to strip the markup of these files.
Or perhaps someone might know if there are programs already out there that can?
Any pointers or advice would be great, thanks

PDF: iText (www.lowagie.org or .com) and FOP (at apache.org, or maybe jakarta.apache.org) are the de facto standards for writing PDF in Java, but I don't think either of them will help you with reading it. You might check out etymon. I think that reads PDF. Or you could google for java pdf reader
Doc: Check out POI, again at either jakarta or apache.

  • F380 printer won't print PDF or Doc files

My printer won't print Docx files sent through email.  It also has trouble printing PDF documents.  It quits after the first page, and no matter what I do won't print the other pages. I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows Vista. I tried HP print doctor, but it couldn't find the problem.  I went to the HP site but found no new drivers for my exact printer, and a warning that if I uninstalled my current driver and installed one of theirs, they wouldn't provide any support, since my OS is older than Windows7.   I noticed that the person sending me these files has windows 10 installed on his computer.  (For what it's worth.) Printer works fine otherwise. Thanks!

  • Adobe Reader 9 converted all my doc files to Adobe?? Now they don't open

    How do
    I reverse this?

Windows™ has "associated" everything with Adobe Reader 9 since it's the newest piece of software installed.
Start>Default Programs (Vista or 7) or Set Program Access and Defaults (XP)
In the Control Panel, you can set default programs back to what they should be for different file types.
This is a Windows™ thing. It doesn't just happen with Adobe. I've seen it with Quicken, EA Games, Firefox, and several others.

  • How to convert doc files to pdf files

how do I convert a microsoft doc file into pages and then into a pdf to send out to others?

    Several ways:
In Word or in Pages, you can Print and choose to "print to PDF" instead of a printer.  This applies to all applications that have the ability to print (I think it is all but I don't have all applications to test that assertion against). It will be like a printout, no embedded links will work.
In Pages, you can Export or Share as a PDF. In Word you can Save As a PDF. In this method, embedded links should still work.
