It takes 8 hours for my iPad 4 (64 GB) to charge. Is that normal?

I got this iPad less than 2 weeks ago so its pretty new. I am using the original 12w apple charger, but with the amazon lightning cable (the cheap apple lightning cable broke on me less than 10 days after using it). I know the cable wouldn't be affecting it though, because it would take as long to charge with the original apple lightning cable. I just want to know if its normal to take that long. I was at 13% at 6:00 PM, now it's 12:30 AM and only at 64% in 6.5 hrs. Thats a long time to me considering it wasn't in use during that time... simply WiFi was turned on.

25 Watt-Hours - iPad 2
42.5 Watt-Hours - iPad 3 and 4
My iPad 2 takes about 5 hours to charge to 100%; so 8 hours for a battery that is 70% larger seems normal to me.

No. The iPad's port won't put out enough power. You could probably plug your keyboard into your iPad charger and charge it that way, but it won't charge off the iPad.

Rendering 1280x720 takes 27 hours for 30 minutes of footage.

I am trying to edit footage from a Kodak Zi6. I converted it using MPEG Streamclip. I can open it in FCP but am having trouble finding an import setting which will allow me to not have to take 27 hours to render the clips once they are in FCP. Help Please!

The material is probably originally some version of h.264, which QT7 should understand.< </div>
Your issue is more about working the camera and making it work with FCP than it is about FCP. Don't forget to pop open the manual for the camera and to go hang out on whatever user forums are available for that camera model. It may shoot a nice high def picture but where are you going with your video? Do you expect to play from a computer? Standard DVD? Blu-ray? KNowing your output destination will make a lot of difference with the workflow we might suggest.

IPod Touch fully charge after only 2 hours of charging, is that normal?

I bought an iPod Touch 4g recently and since I bought it, I noticed that my battery only takes 2 hours to be fully charged (even though the battery is completely drained). I remember the tech specs of the product said that it takes up to 4 hours to fully charge and 2 hours for a 80% fast charge.
Is there a difference in charge time if I charge my iPod through my computer via USB, and with an iPad charger?
Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with my iPod's battery?

I've been using my iPod Touch to read books and a fully charged battery basically lasts me approximately 10 hours of continuous reading. I have yet to test out the battery life as suggested by Apple, whereby I'm supposed to take note of the music layback that I can get on a fully charged battery. I was planning to do it after you first replied but I found it too much of a hassle and therefore, have not gotten myself to do it.

Have you reset you iPad,or tried deleting the apps that are crashing and then opening them again. Or closing them and reopening them. Also clear Safari and see it that helps. There have been a few other posts like yours , and I can't figure out why it happens to some ipads and not others. I have not even seen what happens with a "crash" occurs and I use mine all the time. I usually use my iPad 2 Wi-Fi 3G on wifi only. When I do take it on the road and turn on the 3G, it takes several hours for it to pick up the 3G network.

Once it does pick up the 3G, it switches between wifi and cellular pretty much seamlessly until I go home and switch off the 3G for several weeks. This pattern has repeated several times in different cities across the US. It doesn't sound like a reception problem or something wrong with the sim.

Compressor takes 15 hours for 2 hour video

Is this normal? Compressor is taking a really long time to compress video from FCP so I ca burn it onto DVD. This is 2 hours of simple DV video. There are no effects and the sound is extremely simple. There aren't even transistion in the video. I'm really new to this whole process. You don't necessarily need 2-pass VBR Best quality for your encode (the 90 min DVD Best setting). The VBR settings are related to motion, and assign more data to areas of high motion (quick pans, action sequences, etc) and less data to areas of low motion (e.g. talking heads) but if your content is pretty consistent, you will get acceptable results at 1-pass VBR or CBR. Take small segments of your movie and try exporting with 1-pass and CBR and see whether the quality is acceptable.

That all depends on your internet service. 6 Mbps or better is recommended for HD rental content. 2.5 Mbps for SD. You can check your actual internet speed at speedtest.net.
If you'd rather download SD content to avoid waits, you can change the type of content available by default in settings.

That really is extremely slow. But at this point, I would hate to see you stop the download in fear of messing something up. I know it kind of bites - but wait it out and maybe it won't take as long as it is showing.
But if the time starts increasing on the counter, them I would assume that something is really wrong.

Compressor takes two hours for iPhone setting??

I have never had much success using Compressor and so simply use the export settings in FCP.
I would like to use Compressor, but admittedly, have not learned the ins and outs...however, this evening I sent a 5 minute video to Compressor, chose the iPhone setting - the first pass failed after about 10 minutes and I stopped the 2nd try after it was taking just too long - it said it had an hour and 48 minutes left when I stopped the export.
Within FCP - I chose the Quicktime with Conversion option and then the iPhone setting - and it took 7 minutes to export.
Is this normal for Compressor? And would I really get better quality using Compressor vs. FCP?? Does the time difference sound normal??

Recreate the job and start it. While it's running launch Activity Monitor and check to see if any resources are bottomed out- CPU, RAM. Is Page Outs zero?
Then export the file straight out of FCP, but at the native sequence settings. Same codec, everything. Should be a big file. Run that file through Compressor and compare the results.

The update file is around 700 megs so if you're on a slow connection it does time out. You can also look into your anti virus software or firewall, it might be blocking the file. Also if you're trying to download it over 3G it won't work. There's a 20 meg cap on all 3G downloads.
