IT.TMP files

Hello all,
I have a friend who wanted to help me out with movies off his Ipod so that I may be able to watch them while I am deployed to Iraq. Unfortunately, I do not know how to open these files to get them to play in itunes. Does anyone know what these files are and or how to open them in itunes?
Thank you all.

Aloha Katrina,
Ah Ha ! I must be slow late at night! The .tmp files are the iTunes Music Library.xml as it gets bigger!
I moved the .dll file for Uplayme into a backup folder, then launched iTunes and imported two cds..actually three..Sun Kil Moon's "April" has a short bonus disk. I only got two iT.tmp files, instead of one per track...a great improvement! I'll have to try it again when Ihave a bunch of new ones -- after my next Honolulu business trip. I may try fully uninstalling Uplayme and see what happens then, because it doesn't happen, as I said, on my other laptop with only iConcert Cal as a plugin.
I had thought the Uplayme plugin would be fun because it suppossedly links you to others who share your like sin Music but..alas..I just don't have the time for that sort of thing!
Thanks for your help,

  • Excel automatically create .tmp file when open after close Excel, tmp file still there

Anytime I save a change to one of my Excel files, the TMP file appears in the destination folder and remains.  The "main" Excel file
saves the retains the changes that I made and after each subsequent change, a new TMP file is created...old TMP files are not deleted.  This is only happening with Excel files.

  • Acrobat 8 professional causing recovered tmp files in trash

I have recently done a clean install of CS3 including Acrobat Pro. I'm getting an occasional bouncing of the Acrobat program icon in the application doc. It acts as if it wants attention, but when you click on it its just open and has no warnings. This is really annoying having to baby sit the app by clicking on the app icon.
Anyway, I'm also getting strange system performance issues. I'll restart and there will be recovered files in the trash. They are all acr1234567.tmp files. They look like Acrobat temp files.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Mac/IntelDuo2.4/2GB/10.5.5
    Much appreciated!
    Evan

Upgrade to 8.1.1 the 8.1.2 should stop the bounce.

  • Why does Flashplayer for Firefox create 1000's of FAP####.tmp files and never cleans then up?

    Version Info
FlashPlayer Plugin version: 11.9.900.117 (and many version before)
Firefox version                   : 24.0 (and many versions before)
    Windows Version               : Windows 7-SP1
    Directory of Files               :  C:\Windows\Temp
    Details
I noticed this started all of a sudden over the last year or so, when my virus scans started taking longer and longer and more and more files were being scanned even though no windows updates were done to the computer and regular windows cleanups (Administrative tools->Free Up disk space app) were performed. Before that it was fine.
It doesn't happen right away. It happens after many web browsing sessions (may take several hours to reproduce) of opening and closing the Firefox web browser and browsing a lot of Flash based websites. Once it starts every single website that contains a flash player object cause the files to occur (In other words, it's fine for a while and then all of a sudden it starts, even if you restart Firefox).
There is 1 file for every flashplayer object on the page (example: 2 flashplayer items cause 2 FAP####.tmp files to be generated). The only way to stop this (temporarily) is to reboot the computer (I only reboot about once a week and use hibernate during the week).
I had over 3500 of the randomly numbered files in the windows temp dir and the windows cleanup doesn't recognize these files as candidates to remove (I guess because they are application specific files). So I have to keep a Windows Explorer session open in Win Temp dir to periodically remove the files.
I did google this and found this has been going on here and there for a few years. There were various discussions about uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox and the flashplayer and then people claim it didn't work and started again after some period of time.
I also found a website that said this was caused by some protected mode the flash player is running now. They gave instructions on how to turn off the protected mode, but I've been hesitant to do this, due to some of the protections that were described and was afraid I'd be leaving myself open to viruses or other attack.
Why is the flashplayer generating these files?
Why isn't flashplayer cleaning up after iteself and forcing me to clean up thousands of files manually?
why doesn't Adobe manage this properly once and for all, considering how long it's been going on?
I would appreciate any thoughts on this issue.
    Thanks.

Can you post back here a screenshot from this issue?

  • .tmp file is created by NI Report generation toolkit for logging data to MS Excel

    Hi,
I am getting ".tmp" file while logging data to MS Excel by NI Report generation toolkit. Instead of assigned file name, toolkit is generating a junk value with .tmp extension, but I can able to open this .tmp file with MS Excel.
Can anyone help to solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Thirumala

    Hi Thirumala,
You may experience issues when you try to save a Microsoft Excel file if one or more of the following conditions are true:
    1. You save an Excel file to a network drive where you have restricted permissions.
    2. You save an Excel file to a location that does not have sufficient drive space.
    3. The connection to the Excel file has been lost.
    4. There is a conflict with an antivirus software program.
    5. You save an Excel file that is shared.
    6. The 218-character path limitation has been exceeded when you save an Excel file.
    7. The Transition Formula Evaluation feature is turned on in Excel.
    8. The file was created from a template that contains embedded objects.
Hope this will help to solve your problem.
    Thanks,

  • Recover .TMP files on offline folders in Windows 7 Synch

    Hello.
I have a user with Windows 7 Pro and we set him up for offline folder synchronization.
Somehow several of his office docs disappeared and seem to have been replaced by several
.TMP files with similar sizes and dates.
We only keep 7 days worth of offline folder directory backups and when he told me his problem
it was too late to get them from the backup tapes.
Is there a way or a process to recover anything useful from these TMP files?
    Thanks
    -Joe
    [email protected]

Have you restored your mistakenly deleted files back? I hope my answer is not too late.
In fact, after deleting something off from a drive or PC, the lost files are still recoverable, as long as they are not overwritten by anything new in the same place.
Therefore, if you really have not got your data back, you can also take chances with some data recovery tool like
Recuva, 4Card Recovery, iCare Data Recovery Free and more to restore your wanted files back.
No matter which tool you choose, you’d better not save all restored data on the same PC drive in case of any data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important all the time.

  • Submit pdf form as HTML will attach a tmp file to email

    I all,
I'm just trying to submit a simple pdf form as HTML but I always get a "RandomFileName.tmp" file as attachment to the resulting email.
If I open the tmp file with a text editor I see it contains my form fields name and their related values.
But I think the end-user has not all the knowledge to open a strange file name with a tmp extension.
Why do this happen? is it a bug?
I'm using Acrobat X and Thunderbird 24.0 as email client.
Is there a simple way (I don't know javascript) to get all fields/values in the email body?
This task should be really simple but I cannot find any usefull info on adobe website.
TIA for any help or suggestion.
    tony

Is there a simple way (I don't know javascript) to get all fields/values in the email body?
This can be done with JS, and it's not too complicated, but you can't generate an email from Reader without any attachments (well, actually you can, but then the amount of data you can put in it is very limited), it has to have either the entire PDF, or a file with the form data, attached to it.

  • Smart Objects without tmp files

I am trying to place/ import a .psd as a smart object into a composite and have Photoshop keep referenceing that same psd witout it creating a local tmp file.
does anyone know fi this can be done?
    Thanks!

Embedded objects are independent of any original file. Embedded objects are a copy of whatever (file, layer, group, etc)  anything supported by Photoshop.  You can have smart object layers in a document that share a common object.  If you replace that common shared object all the smart object layers that share that the object pixels will change and be transformed by the smart object layer's associated transform.  This is often used for  creating picture packages. However the replacement object must be the same size as the original object for all the transforms to work correctly.
In fact when you update a smart object layer by double clicking on a layer's smart icon in the layers palette.  Photoshop copies the object into a unique file in your user id temp space the first time you double click on a layers smart icon as a work file. This file will remain there till the document containing the object the temp file was created for is closed in Photoshop. If you make more the a single edit  to a smart object  layer in an edit session the same file will be use only a single temp file is used any given object. Photoshop will delete any temp files it created for a document when the document is closed in Photoshop. When users commit changes to the temp work file Photoshop will update the documents embedded object. The work file may be updated  by Photoshop or a Plug-in like ACR.
There have been threads about creating  metadata links for Smart Object layer to help user try to keep things in sync.  I don't know if its possible or that is that desirable not to have versions of objects

  • Tmp file missing from root

    Hello,
I need to create a bootable backup of my hard drive, but my cloning solftware says it can't because a required system file (tmp) does not exist at the root of the source volume. I don't remember intentionally removing it. Is there a way to reinstall it where it belongs.
    Thanks in advance,
    josearturo

First, use Disk Utility to repair permissions. If the "real" /private/tmp/ folder is missing this will replace it. Next recreate the symbolic link in the root:
If your /tmp file is suddenly missing, various action such as starting Classic, printing, software update, file sharing, and burnings discs will not function. To fix this, open up the Terminal and type:
    sudo ln -s /private/tmp /tmp
Hit return, enter your admin password, and hit return again.

  • 1000'S OF iT.TMP FILES IN ItUNES DIRECTORY! ???

    Re: iTunes 7.6.1 & 7.6.2.. Windows XP, SP3
    Aloha,
After having spent months adding my CD collection to iTunes--over 41 GB worth-- I discovered in the \My Documents\My Music\iTunes folder, right below the iTunes library files were 1000's of IT.tmp files totaling over 7 GB! I only saw this because I was sitting at my computer when it did a backup one night instead of leaving it alone.
I talked with iTunes Tech by phone..they hadn't a clue and just said to delete them, which I did. But iTunes is still doing it and does not delete them when the program closes!
Has anyone else had the same experience? Does anyone know why iTunes is doing this and...maybe...have a fix?
Thanks and Mahalo for your resposnes.

  • Can I delete the .tmp files?

In "My Adobe Captivate Projects" folder I have noticed a
large number of .tmp files. Is it safe to delete these? They are
not in a specific project folder and some are very large.
I have about 22 projects and about 15 .tmp files. Example
    names are Ado1AC.tmp; ADo1AF.tmp; Ado51D.tmp.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to our community, ameurope2
They should be safe to delete. However, it's worth noting
that under certain circumstances, Captivate projects sometimes
perform a disappearing act. And often, you may simply rename the
ADO??.TMP to ProjectName.CP and you can be back in business.
    Cheers... Rick

  • ITunes .tmp files -- Over 8.5 Gb of them

I've got over 8.5 Gb .tmp files in my My Music/iTunes folder. This is comprised of over 175 .tmp files. It doesn't appear that most of these files have been accessed anytime recently. My music files are stored on another (internal hard drive), not within My Docs.
Needless to say, this seems to be a pretty big waste of HD space. Which, if any of these files can I delete and how will it impact iTunes? Is there anyway to keep these files from being created over and over again?

Yates, are the .tmp files showing up on the same level in your itunes folder as your itunes library .itl and .xml files?
if so, that's usually associated with security software interfering with itunes writes to your library files:
What are the iTunes Library files?
(it's actually more common on a Mac than on Windows PCs, but i've seen it reported every now and then on Windows PCs dating back to the itunes 4.9 days.)
what makes and models of antivirus and/or antispyware packages are you running? by any chance, is it nod32?
(i don't have a good feel for which packages are more likely to cause this, but we had an example of this show up in itunes 6.0.5.20 that turned out to be associated with nod32.)

  • Error in *.tmp file  how to find the real source

    -- FM 8, structured --
So ... cautiously (but enthusiastically) exploring the delights of DITA, I've taken an existing unstructured book and exploded the content into DITA topics in an XLM editor; even, made a ditamap to hold all the topics together in the right order and at the right level.
No protest from the editor, which validates on the fly; but when I run the FrameMaker utility to generate a .book from the .ditamap, I get the fairly readable messages that follow:
    XML Parser Messages (Document instance)
Error at file c:\docume~1\grundt~1.bru\locals~1\Temp\FMT3C9.tmp, line 2312, char 191, Message: The value for attribute 'id' must be names or name tokens.
Error at line 2312, char 191, Message: The value for attribute 'id' must be names or name tokens.
My question: looks as though there's an id somewhere in my 112 dita files that FM isn't happy with. Is there an easy way to find out which file is causing the problem?
    Thanks in advance if you can save me from scrutinising (at most) 112 files and looking et every id =8-}
    N

ymmd, but with a modicum of ingenuity I got there!
    1. start utility to generate .book from .ditamap
    2. observe error in XML Parser log and leave log open
    3. track down and open the .tmp file
    4. read guilty line in .tmp file
And voilà - I hadn't paid enough attention to the editor's discreet warning, and there was a section without an id. I corrected the dita file, ran the utility again and generated a .book without any errors.

  • How FND_FILE.PUT_LINE create tmp file in app tier and move it to db tier?

i have a concurrent program runs in application tier which uses FND_FILE.PUT_LINE... does anyone know whether is that true that when the concurrent program runs, it will create a temp file in the database tier ($APPLTMP), and once the program finished/done, it will copy the output to application tier ($APPLCSF/$APPLOUT and $APPLCSF/$APPLLOG - out file and log file)? if it is true, how does Oracle copy the file from database tier to application tier?
    here is my current setting:
    - concurrent program runs in application tier
    - mount $APPLTMP (set it as first entry in utl_file_dir) in database tier on applicate tier
    - tmp file creates in $APPLTMP (database tier)
    - out file creates in $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT (application tier)
    - log file creates in $APPLCSF/$APPLLOG (application tier)
we occasionally run into problem creating tmp file. so, am wondering is there any best practice for concurrent program? should we run it in application tier or database tier?
    help is highly appreciated. thanks.

    Hi, Hussien.
Our problem is... occasionally we run into "ORA-20100: File lxxx.tmp creation for FND_FILE failed" error. 0 bytes temporary file created, but out/log files created with data/output. That's why we don't know what did we do wrong.
We followed metalink 261693.1, tried all the possiblities... still no luck on temporary files (created with 0 bytes).
The problem (ORA-20100) comes and goes. Very inconsistent. Created simple package to test FND_FILE.PUT_LINE, it looks like nothing is wrong with that. So, not sure did we miss something.
    Thanks.
