If you have the first gen ipod touch as your information shows, then you would have to buy a software update:

  • Apps will not update in iTunes

Recently bought new laptop w/Windows 7 (Win7 required for work.)  Downloaded/installed latest ver of iTunes to sync my iPhone 4S and iPad. I can update apps in iTunes but they will not update on devices during sync. On the device menu in iTunes I can click the Update radio button and it will change to "Will Update" but when sync is started it changes back to "Update".  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Did you copy the ENTIRE iTunes library from the old computer to the new computer?  If not, the link between the library and device is broken.

  • Windows 7 64 Bit system will not update to iTunes 7 - Help please!

    Hello -
I've been trying to update my iTunes since July and have been unable to do so. I think the last time I installed a version of iTunes was in May. I've tried everything and anything I could find on the web but nothing works!
    I have a Windows 7 PC 64 bit laptop.
Everytime I try to update I get the error message "the installer encountered errors before the installation could be completed".
    I've already tried:
    - Downloading directly from apple site
    - Downloading the update only then installing
    - Made a new user account on my computer to try install
    - Uninstalled everything and started fresh
    - Disk Clean up's
    - Turned off Anti-Virus
    - Restarting computer and more...
Does anybody have any suggestions!? It's driving me crazy not being able to sync my iphone 4! I'm starting to think it's just not compatable...
PS - I am able to install older version of iTunes, but my iphone 4 is not compatable since i've upgraded to iOS6

    Hi rrfhp,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand none of the HP drivers will fully install.
I will be happy to help you.
Are you signed in as the Administrator of the computer?
I would turn off all start up programs to make sure there isn't something blocking the printer.
Click on start, in the search box type in run, enter, then type in msconfig, click OK.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
Then click on the start up tab at the top.
    Click on disable all.
    Reboot the computer.
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
Then run the installation again by right clicking on the setup and selecting run as Admininstrator.
Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    Try printing now.
Then go back into msconfig and enable the All Microsoft Services and enable all on the start up tab.
Turn the Antivirus software back on again.
Please let me know the results if you are still having issues.
Are you getting any error messages?
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • IPod will not update in iTunes with Windows Vista

Every time I connect my ipod to my computer, my computer locks up and it does not update. The only way I can even connect my ipod is to use manual update.

iTunes does not yet support Windows Vista. There are numerous problems running iTunes on it. The latest release of iTuens 7.1 fixed some of them but not all.

  • Podcast Will Not Update in iTunes

I have a podcast that was working and updating perfectly up until the 5th episode. The feed is working properly: (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fppadv.com%2Fnewsletters% 2Fpodcast%2Fpodcast.xml)
and I am able to download all the episodes onto my computer if I subscribe. Any ideas on how I can update the podcast listing in itunes?
    Here's the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/potratz-think-tank-tuesday/id275218965
    feed:
    http://ppadv.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
    Thanks

Yes, there is a feed at that address: but it's not the address registered with iTunes. You need to place the feed at that URL:
    http://exclusivelyautomotive.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
If you can do that you can place the redirection tag in that feed to redirect iTunes to the new URTL, as detailed here. If you no longer have access to that URL you are, to use the technical term, stuffed.
In that event you have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • IPod will not update in iTunes

I plugged my iPod into my computer and iTunes recognizes it but it never signals ok to disconnect my iPod just has the Do not disconnect thing on it. I did download a new version of the software for my mini before it started doing this. Does it take a few minutes to get the iPod fully updated? Thanks!

If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. There is also an iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • Playlist will not update from Itunes to IPOD Mini

I updated my Ipod mini (v1.4) and Itunes (v6.0.1). Since that time, i cannot update a play list on my Ipod. I added a song that was on a playlist prior to the update that is in the M4P format to Ipod. It lists it under my artists but refuses to accept any updated playlists. I receive the circle symbol with the line through it. Is there a setting that has changed in itunes not allowing to change my playlists?

did you have the ipod mini connected to the computer when running a windows xp update??
if so your ipod will have to be serviced
sorry but the ipod now contains a hard drive update that isn't compatible for the ipod so if you had the ipod connected while updating windows xp you now need to get your ipod serviced
i had the samething happen to me on my mac with the last system update that came though

  • Another Podcast will not update in itunes

I am able to see and download my latest podcast if I use the "show all available episodes" function but it is not seen when the Refresh button or Update Podcast functions are used. All current episodes do appear on the itunes preview page however.
I use Libsyn as an RSS host and they claim this is an itunes 'problem' but it does not seem to effect the other casters that I follow. It could well be a 'finger' problem on my part so if there is anyone with more than my rudimentary knowledge of RSS/XML perhaps you could take a look?
My feed address is http://djdavidmyles.libsyn.com/rss and my itunes is http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/david-myles-podcast/id389699126
I have checked the feed in Feed Validator and I'm getting 2 unknown namespace messages in line one but I do not know if this would is significant with regards to the update issue??
I not that the ping address I was given recently only connects to the itunes store now, though it never seemed to help with previous episodes anyway!
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for looking in to this for me.
The more I consider this the more I am beginning to wander if it is something to do with my itunes and specifically on my Macbook Pro. Since the last 2 itunes updates there have been problems with transferring some mp3's between itunes and my iphone.
I have just checked the 'update' question on my PC and it works ok but with the same setting on my mac the problem still exists whereby as a subscriber I am not notified when a new podcast is available via the auto or manual Refresh actions, only if I right click the the podcast and use the "Show All..." facility. Both mac and pc are using itunes 10.1.2.
lets hope all my fans are using PC's...something I never thought I would advocate!

  • First Generation Shuffle will Not Update Through iTunes

When I connect to iTunes a box comes up that states I do not have latest update for Shuffle. When I click to update, it states that it cannot connect to server because I am not connected to the internet. I checked my firewall, and iTunes has access rights. So I am stumped. It seems that those who have updated are having problems so maybe it's a good thing if I don't update. Thoughts? TIA

Given that the ONLY perceived effect of firware version 1.1.5 (the update) is being able to play SOME iTunes Music Store tracks that were sold beginning in November, IF that doesn't affect you, then you can safely ignore the suggestion by iTunes to update your Shuffle.

  • My MAC will not update to iTunes 12

  • My ipod mini will not update from itunes.

I recieve a message saying the ipod is linked to another library and do i want to replace all the songs on my ipod with the current library. How do i transfer the songs in my ipod to my computer?

This is the message you see when you connect the iPod to a computer that it's not normally associated with. Clicking 'yes' will do exactly what it says and the songs on your iPod will be replaced with the songs in the iTunes library you are now connected to.
This is how the iPod works. Makes it that much harder to share copyrighted material.
Do you intend to use the iPod with more than one computer?

  • My iPod will not update on iTunes. A error message pops up

I have been trying to update my ipod and it has really been making me upset. I try it at least every week, to see if it will work, but it doesn't. I can't even get the apps I want, because my ipod needs to be updated to a iOS 4.3. Everytime I try to update it, I go to devices, then I press update to 4.3 or something like that, and then it's about 30 seconds, and then a message pops up and say,"There is a problem with your connection, try contacting a server, reconnecting the internet, or try again later." The message is related something to that. I try to reconnect, come back later, and it still does the same thing. I am getting very tired of this. I need somebody to PLEASE tell me how to fix this, PPPPPPPLLLLLLEEEEEAASSEEE!!!!! Thank you!

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update.
