Item being modified?

Ok so today I went to buy the third volume of the TV show "Invader Zim" I have enough money on my account so I click to purchase the season and I get an alert telling me that the purchase of this item is not currently available and that the item is being modified and I should try again later.
How long does this typically last so that I can buy the volume?

This happened to me too. I bought this yesterday to install on my 2011 macbook pro, 7,1 (I also have snow leopard 10.6.8). I tried to redeem the code and it keeps saying the item is being modified try again later. I did read a post somewhere that said have a friend with a mac log into your app store account on their mac and try it. I'm afraid to do that just yet. Maybe we need to wait a little longer? Someone said it shows that message because they are updating the software?

I believe the developer/publisher is doing changes on the APP.

Why is it that when I try to download a movie most times I get the message "item currently being modified try again later" This is usually (but not always)a rental and I can buy the movie. This happens about 80% of the time the other 20% it works ok. I'm using windows vista and itunes 10.0

I've had the same problem. I've had my 2nd gen apple tv for about 8 mo now and have yet to sucesfully purchase a rental on it. i always get the "item is currently being modified." i've tried the same items at different times, completely resored my box, checked the network and so on. can't get it to work. i've even attempted to get in touch with apple however since i'm overseas (military) they will only "support" me through a phone call. said phone call puts me on hold for ages and is simply not worth it.
Long story short, just download the movies online (torrents are great) and if they aren't already in itunes-friendly mp4 format simply convert them over (i use quicktime 7 pro) and drag them into your itunes where they will usually play quite well.

Download Error - "Item Being Modified"

Curious if anyone has any insight on an error I'm receiving while trying to download a book. It reads: "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later." Trouble is, that I've been getting the error for a few days. I was able to download a sample of the book, but not the rest. Any insight would be appreciated - very frustrating!

This is an old thread, but the problem is happening now to me, too. For me, it all started in the last month or so. A real pain. Most apps download fine, but a significant minority do not, ever.

My question is....again...I cannot buy anything on ITunes. A message comes up "Purchase of this item is not currently available. The item is being modified. Please try again later,"
It's not just 1 item...it's all items. How long do I have to put up with this? There is no point wasting money with you if you can't supply the product.

Can't Download (Item being modified)

How long does it take to modify something? I've been trying to download an album for the last 2 hours. Is there a way to report this to I-tunes besides the "Request Music" feedback?

It's been known to take upwards of a few weeks, depending on the problem.

Can't copy Aperature Library to external. Get this error "The operation can't be completed because an item is being modified."

I have been trying to find a solution to this problem by browsing this forum but I can't seem to find a solution.
As many others have decided to do I want to copy my Aperature library to an external FW 800 drive as my laptop space is dwindling. It seems all you need to do is copy the Library from the finder which can also be revealed in the preference if Aperature. When copying it seems to transfer for a few seconds but then I get this error "The operation can’t be completed because an item is being modified." I have formatted the drive correctly and there is no issues with Aperature itself so why do you think I am having this error? What can I do to copy this Library to my external?

Reboot your machine make sure Aperture doesn't start (as Lion is liable to do) and try it.

I'm trying to buy Dhafer Youssef album "Digital Prophecy" from finnish iTMS. When i click "Buy Now" in my shopping cart, iTunes will give me various error messages,
"Item is being modified",
"Your shopping cart's contents have changed." or
"We could not complete your Music Store request. The server was not found."
I've bought several albums from iTMS before with no problems. I know for sure that there is no problems in my credit card or so. Also "the item" i am trying to buy, has been "being modified" for more than week already, so the problem must be somewhere else than just that it's price is being changed or so.
Anyone with a fix for this problem? I am running the latest version of Tiger, and all the latest updates from Software Update, both Quicktime and iTunes are as up-to-date as they can be.

They've been having problems with various albums. it's listed at two different prices but appears to be the same album. Others who have had this problem have clicked on the review page and downloaded their selection from there. I don't see that for this selection.
Try to purchase the $7.92 version.

It likely means just that. The item is currently being modified in the iTunes Store and you will have to try downloading it again later. Usually this type of thing is done in 72 hours.

PS. The reason I'm downloading directly from the iPod is because the laptop that had my iPod synched to it crashed and the recovery disk didn't fix it. I don't wanna lose all my songs. :/

If it says it is temporarily being modified than you should wait until tomorrow or later tonight. If it keeps happening, try downloading something else. If it has the same message, it is probably a problem with iTunes on your iPod. If it downloads regularly, there must just be a problem with the album.

Hi, I actually have the same problem but with Apps for the iPhone... I've got 2 of them showing there's an update available but when I try to update I first get a message staating I can't update unless I have bought the previous version (why is it then offering an update???) and then a second message stating "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later." and it's been stuck like this for a couple days now... I think this might have to do with some internal Apple database thing because I changed my contact email for iTunes recently therefore my iTunes name changed as well and the Apple iTunes databse is probably having problems updating the purchase records witht he new name...

Sorry, but which part of that do you not understand?
Perhaps they're changing the price, so while they are doing that, you cannot buy it. It'll save you moaning later that you bought it and then the price went down. Or perhaps they've found that the album is faulty and so it has been removed until they can upload a non-faulty version. In either case, it will be available when Apple are ready to make it available. No one here knows when that will be.
Wait 24 hours and try again. If no luck, wait another 24 hours and try again. Obviously, Apple would prefer you to buy the song from them, so that's why it's still listed. But it's up to you how long you wait before deciding that you've waited long enough and you simply buy the album from another store. You have that choice, it's not compulsory to buy from Apple you know.

I have tried to purchase albums by Muse dated 2003 and earlier from the iTunes Store in Denmark.
For all of these I am getting the response:
"Purchase of this item is currently not available. This item is being modified. Please try again later.".
Well its been like this for one week now.
Is it still "being modified" or is it an access error that should not be there and that I am getting a misleading error message?

HT1849 "Complete Album" Problem - "Purchase of this Item is not currently Available. This item is being modified. Please try again later."

I am trying to complete an album of which I bought 3 singles and every time I hit "Complete Album" for $4.83, it says "Purchase of this Item is not currently Available. This item is being modified. Please try again later." Ive tried multiple times over the past week and get the same error every time. Can anyone help? Thx
