Item Category Issue
Dear Experts,
While i create packaging in Handling unit ther is a tab of Additional Data in Sales and distribution.In that we have Item Category - Issue is i am inputing manual item category TAN but i want to pick automatically.
I am unable to find the setting for packaging Item category of Sales and distribution.
Plz provide your inputs.

Apart from what Jignesh suggested, follow the following steps for automatic packing:
1 In the Shipping screen choose Pack/load - Pack delivery. You see the Change outbound delivery screen.
2 Enter the number of the delivery that you want to pack, or select one using the matchcode function
3 Press ENTER. You see the overview screen Change Outbound Delivery: Overview - Quantities.
4 Choose Edit, then Pack. You see the screen Pack Items
If you want to pack all delivery items that are not packed, choose Edit - Automatic packing.
In this function, you do not need to select any items individually. All items and shipping units of the selected delivery that are not packed are automatically placed at the disposal of the user exits for automatic packing.
If you only wish to have certain items in the delivery packed, choose Edit then Autom.pack items
With this function, you must select the items and shipping elements to be packed. Then, only the selected unpacked items are placed into an internal table.
If you have set the supplied example to active, the program automatically searches, in both procedures, for the respective shipping materials for the items to be packed.

Issue while changing Item Category during Sales Order Creation
Hi,
Requirement:
Requirement is to change the item category of Sales Order item while creating the sales order.
Rule is: If item category is IRAT then it should be changed to IRLN.
For this, I am using the user exit "USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE" available in the include MV45AFZZ.
Issue:
Using the above mentioned exit, Item category is getting changed to the desired value in the created sales order BUT value of Billing Status (VBUP-FKSAA) which is supposed to get changed is blank.
For example, Sales order is created from VA01 and item category is changed manually to the value mentioned above, then for the sales order created we have VBUP-FKSAA = 'A'. But when value of Item category is not changed manually and it is changed from the exit, then value of VBUP-FKSAA is blank.
I have to find a solution which would change the value of Billing Status according to the change in the value of Item Category.
Please suggest a relevant solution.

I have a simmilar problem. In my case I am changing Reason of Rejection in the user-exit, but net value is not getting updated. Did you solve your problem? Any other way to change a field of a sales order item?

Unable to save the Sample Issues Doc for item category TAN
Hi,
Created one sales doc type for Sample Issues.In this sales order when i enter the material and give customer discount 100% then value will zero.Now when i try to save this sales order then the system is showing the incompletion log and asking to maintain Net Value for the sales order.
In OVA2 Net Value is maintained for the item category TAN.So i do not want to make any changes in OVA2 as it will affect other transaction material.
If i manually changes TAN to TANN then i can save it.
So what could be the other possible ways to solve this problem.

Tab: Business Data --> Field: Pricing
Maintain entry as "B Pricing for free goods (100% discount)" OR keep it Empty.
Now, try.

Note: Also, check the Incompletion Procedure, attached with Both the Item Categories, i.e. TAN and TANN
I think, with -
TAN, Incompletion Procedure would be 20, whereas
TAN, Incompletion Procedure would be 24
Now, go to T. Code: OVA2
Check for Both the Incompletion Procedures, i.e. 20 - Standard Item and 24 - Free of Charge Item (for Group: Sales - Item)
You will find settings:
VBAP NETWR Net value PKON 03 0
with 20 - Standard Item and not with 24 - Free of Charge Item

We have implemented scenario A settings for return orders to exchange and edit in both ECC and CRM systems. We are having a scenario where item category for an item in return order will be changed to the other in ECC system. In our case we have the status profile assigned to the item category which was initial and we dont have any status profile for the item category which is changed to in both ECC and CRM systems. We are gtting errors in CRM and the document is locked when the item category is changed in ECC and saved. The error is 'The status procedure could not be set from item category XXX'. Can you please suggest how can we fix this issue?

Item category customizing issue(The item category 'SRTT' is not permitted

I got a material product, the caterory of the product is created by myself.
I trid to add the product to my service order item, but the error message said ,"
<b>The item category 'SRTT' is not permitted for product 'BO_3000000018'.
Message no. CRM_ORDERADM_I507
Diagnosis
The item category SRTT is not allowed in Customizing for item category determination of the specified transaction type, or in the item category group of the product BO_3000000018.
System Response
The system does not allow the item to be processed further.
u can display the specified input options. Place the cursor in the document on the field Item category and choose F4 = input options</b>
I tried many item category but the same error kept jumping out.

You nay have to set the item category determination properly.
Fileds are you chould have an entry which should be something like this
Trans type -
Item cat group---The item cat that has to appear in your doc.
for example:
TA -
Standard Group-----TAN
The Item category group field is in the one you have given in your material master.

Please tell me the usage of Item category G2N and L2N supplementary order.
In Supplementary sale order standard the item category G2N is showing -value, if it shows +value what is the impact in sales.

When you go for creation of "Invoice correction request"(RK) with reference to the "Incorrect Invoice", each item is duplicated in the Invoice correction request document as Credit memo items with Item category G2N and Debit memo items with Item category L2N having opposite sign. You can change in the debit memo items only here.
You will find G2N with -ve sign beacuse it is payable/going out and L2N with +ve sign beacuse it is receiveable type and you should not change those.

Issue in updating item category
Hi gurus,
I need to update the item category of the line item while saving a refund order.When a user manually enters an iitem and saves teh refund order,the item category should be updated say set to ZTR1.
I have used set property as follows
lv_entity_save->set_property( EXPORTING iv_attr_name = 'ITM_TYPE' iv_value = lv_itemcat ).
But when i check teh orderadm_i table the item category doesnt get updated.If i click 'save' omce again from the ic web and then check teh table , the item category gets updated.
That means on hoitting the save button twice,my item category gets updated.

Once you set the property, you need to create an instance of the core and modify it.
data: lv_core TYPE REF TO cl_crm_bol_core.
lv_core = cl_crm_bol_core=>get_instance( ).
lv_core->modify( ).
This should solve the problem.

but this category set assigning with the wrong category code. How we can stop this , so that after i create i can assign the category set with required category code combination as per my requirment . please help me on this.

RGAfter creating an item in item master..you can go to tools and in there item categories and you can assign the categories there...Mostly my guess is if the item is a purchased item..it will be assigned to default purchasing category and it should also be assigned to inventory category too..as it is also a inventory item..

Here I am facing a problem that, I have created an item category which will be used in Quotation creation.
And Maintained Preceding Ref. Object type as 'Opportunity', made its as mandatory.
But while I am creating Quotation, its not showing any error even though there is no any preceding reference document.

Go to IMG SD > Basic Functions > Partner Determination > Set Up Partner Determination > Set Up Partner Determination for Sales Document Item.
There create a new Partner Det.Procedure say Z, by copying standard N. Next click on Partner Functions in Procedure. Now, against this new Z procedure, you can see that special stock partner. Against that partner, select the box Mandatory.
Next click on Partner Determination Procedure Assignment and select Item Category KEN and assign Z.
Finally, assign this Z to your item category in VOV7
Now try the process and update the forum.

Let me try to explain in detail.
When document split is activated, the document type is assigned to a business transaction variant. Since you said the error message is in MIRO, the document type should be RE. For RE document type we need to check what business transaction variant has been assigned. In standard it should be 0300 which is vendor invoice. Under this 0300 the item category for Asset 7000 is already assigned in the standard. Hence if you check for document type RE and check for the transaction variant, currently it should be 1010 whereas it has to be 0300.
The path for checking this is already given.

Issue with purchase requisition for third party order (Item category S)
Hello Experts,
When I am trying to create purchase requisition with document type NB , item category S (third party) , I am nokt able to assign source of supply as contracts.
That means when I click on the assign source of supply button , I am seeing only info records although I have contracts cretated for that vendor/material combination.
How can I assign contract as a source of supply instead of infor records ?

use ME01 transaciton to assign the contract in the source list

Return of Free goods item - Problem in item category
I am trying to create return order of Free sample billing
(ZFDP). The return order type for the free sample is ZFDR.
We have specified Item category for the ZFDR is RENN (Free good item) in IMG Activity -> Assign Item categories.
When I create order and save it, it prompts me to enter G/L Account.
This material is free. It should not prompt G/L Account for it. There is no revenue recognition specified for the item category. I tried changing item category to ZKLN i.e Free of charge item. This item category does not prompt for G/L Account while creating order. but I can not use this item category because it prompts me for Avialability. I can not remove the Avaialabilty check for it because the same item category is used in the Free sample order where availability check is required
In ZFDP order type, we are issuing 100% discount by using R100
discount condition. Please let me know how can I solve this problem.
I think there is some problem in my item category itself. .
My setting for Item category in IMG - Define item category is
same for both ZKLN and RENN. Only difference is RENN has returns
tick and pricing field is blank. In ZKLN pricing is defined as B- 100%
discount. I also tried changing the pricing option of RENN to B.
But still it is asking for G/L Account.
I can not use ZKLN instead of RENN because my ZKLN is used in the
Free item Sales order.
Please help.

I got answer to my query. YOu need to specify the bill type while defining sales document type. This bill type should not have account assignment mentioned in it.
I changed the bill type, which does not have Account assignment procedure attached to it.

How to restrict free goods determination based on item category

We have a process where when goods for a sales order are returned , we add a line item to same sales order with a return item category.
The issue is we have free goods determination activated for this document type and it works even for the returns item added to this order latter, whereas we don't want free goods determination to work for the returns item.

I can think of one of the probable solution for your requirement.
Your need to create new condition table with item Category as one of the key combination. I think you need to update the item category in field catalog as well as in Doc Structures. Then maintain free goods condition record all the item categories except for the Return item category. This way you can exclude free goods activation for return items.
Note : If the number of active item categories are more then it may be difficult to maintain condition records for the item categories.

Unable to change the item category in existing Scheduling Agreement

I have a schedule agreement where there are already list of line items but saved without the appropriate item category field in all of the line items. Now I see that the Item category column is greyed out & unable to edit or change thru ME32 T.code.
I am already aware that deleting the item codes & adding again with resolve the issue. But when try to delete, those codes shows that they have GR & PO not completed one.
My question is :
Is there a way to edit/change the Item category field without deleting the item?
Whethere is it possible to do it in bulk update for group of items in SA?
If it is possible, pls provide how to do it with steps.

Its a direct table update where you can select the Table Item and Field Item category and input the document number to change the value os item category and try with one sample data then do it in mass.
Before cahngin the item categry Please make sure all the dependancies are met then nly the system will allow you to save.

Authorization check based on item category on sales order (VA01 or VA02)
I want to be able to restrict authorization of users based on item category. We only want certain users to be able to select a certain item category. I know I'm going to have to check one of the userexits in MV45AFZZ. The issue I'm having is the authorization object .
The item category is field VBAP-PSTYV.
What we are going is having a item category for emergency orders. But this requires more manual steps to associate with the original order. We already have the emergency item categories defined and working (no credit check etc) so there's no reason not to have them added to the original order. The issue is its use has to be restricted so when the user selects an alternative item category it checks whether they have the authority.

You can achieve this through authorization objects.
Transaction
SU20 - Authorization Fields
SU21 - Authorization Objects
Create the field PSTYV in the Authorization Fields.
Then Create the authorization object and include this field along with the standard field ACTVT (which determines what activities can be performed by a certain user i.e. Create, Change or Display) & user-name
In your your-exit, you can either use the ABAP command AUTHORITY-CHECK or the function-module AUTHORITY_CHECK and pass the values for these fields. The system can perform the test based on this values & based on the sy-subrc value you can restrict the users that are not having the authorization to select item-categories for emergency orders.
