Items could not be found

i transferred (or tried) my library to our new PC but when I sync i get a message stating a number of items were not copied to my ipod because they could not be found. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Yeah, it's likely you moved the iTunes library improperly. Unfortunately, its not just as easy as dragging the media files to a new computer and running the new iTunes.
It's a complicated situation, and varies greatly on how you've managed your media in your past, and where you are moving your media too.
If you're willing to dedicate some time to sit down and read this rather lengthy article, it does a great job of explaining how iTunes works, and what you need to do to transfer media properly (and also says how people commonly do it incorrectly)

  • The item could not be found? Moved/renamed - TURN OFF?

So often I get this error message when using the Favorites panel in Adobe Bridge CS4:
"The item could not be found. It may have been moved or renamed."
Sometimes it's a misclick, sometimes I forget my external isn't plugged in and am clicking on a folder on an unavailable drive, either way that message pops up then it deletes that entry!
Is there any way to avoid this? Sure I can readd the item later, but it's a pain to have to remember where it was, and put it back in the favorites (when the drive is reconnected, etc)
In Mac OS X if you remove the original and have a shortcut/favorite left for it, it doesn't delete it, just puts a question mark - if you should re-insert the drive/folder etc - the ? disappears and your original Shortcut is restored - why doesn't Bridge operate like that? I'm constantly re-adding things to the Favorites panel, why?
If there isn't a way to avoid it, I'll repost in Feature Requests.. Thanks!

    Hi Ramon-
I get that same message all the time and the folders in my favorites are always the same and on my internal HDD... yet every time I reopen Bridge and click any favorite, I get this message.
I wind up using Favorites as a one time use only feature... but even then, it's a PITA since I have to delete all the "moved" ones the next time I open Bridge.
I thought this was a pref issue and have deleted plist files and recreated them but that hasn't helped.
    any ideas?
running imac 10.6.1 and mbp 10.6.1 and CS4 (updated)
    thanks,
    tom

  • The requested item could not be found...

My phone is one of the tested for Firefox Mobile (Xperia X10), and yet I keep getting the "The requested item could not be found" when trying to download it...

If you have a compatible device, you can download Firefox 4 Beta for Android by clicking the "apk" file on this page, using your phone's web browser:
    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/latest-beta/android-r7/multi/
    Short URL: http://bit.ly/fxmobilebeta
Note: While the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is compatible with Firefox for Android, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro are not. For details, see: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements

  • I keep getting the "some items could not be found" error.

I keep getting the some items could not be found error for some podcasts I downloaded then deleted. Unfortunately, now, I can't get rid of the error message. So I'm trying to search for said podcast to re-delete the entry. And it's not there. And I can't find it anywhere else. How can I fix this?

Another user named Springbk posted a fix that worked for me as I was having the same problem today:
I Changed my DNS settings to OpenDNS
On a Mac go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES>NETWORK>ADVACED>DNS
    change DNS by adding ( + )
    208.67.222.222
    then
    208.67.220.220
click okay/apply after. then try the update. after the update, just delete the two open DNS server numbers. should revert back to your old one.

  • Selected file system item could not be found

I have an issue with a volume that seems unrelated to the other post to which I replied here. This particular volume is an extra slice/partition on the primary software RAID drive (simply made up of two internal drives).
When I select the Volume from the Volumes tab/list in Server Admin I receive an exclamation mark at the bottom with the error: "The Selected file system item could not be found"
Each time that I try to press the Share button and actually set the properties for it and Save and then refresh the shares, that volume is never shared. Seems like an odd issue as there do not appear to be any problems with the volume otherwise.
    I

I am getting the same error message, but only on my Xserve RAID volume. I'm able to adjust permissions on anything else. I currently do not have the option of reformatting the RAID volume right now.
What my initial assumption is that this RAID used some complicated permissions and was connected to a OS X 10.4 Server. I did not do an upgrade to the server but a full format and reinstall of OS X 10.5 Server. My workaround to date has been to change he permissions in the Finder but that's a real pain.
I've tried renaming the volume and a few other tricks.
I'm not sure what to do next to get the OS X 10.5 Server Admin to work with the permissions on my RAID.

  • When I tap the "download for Android" on my Android phone, I receive a "requested item could not be found" error message.

I am attempting to install Firefox mobile on my Android phone. When I tap "download for Android" on my current browser, I receive a "requested item could not be found" error message.

Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
On some supported devices, a bug prevents Firefox from appearing in the Market. This may be related to the recent Market update. You can go to Settings/Applications and uninstall the Market update, then find and install Firefox.
Or, if you have a supported phone, you can download the app directly from here:
    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/4.0b3/android-r7/multi/
(Note: To download the app directly for an AT&T phone, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.)

  • I have an Epic 4G. When I try to download Firefox for Mobile I get a message the requested item could not be found. Help?

When I try to download Firefox for Android on my Epic 4G I get a message saying the item could not be found.

    An update to quote mbrubeck:
Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.
Or, if you have a supported phone, you can download the app directly by typing this address into your phone's browser: http://bit.ly/fxbeta3
(Note: To download the app directly for an AT&T phone, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.)

  • Getting error message "the requested item could not be found" when trying to install Firefox on my android.

I had to uninstall Firefox for Android because I was having problems logging in to sync. I got a support e-mail to uninstall and reinstall because the sync issue had been fixed. I uninstalled the Firefox app and then when I tried to reinstall it I get the error message on my phone "the requested item could not be found." HELP!

Some supported phones are not displaying Firefox in the Market for some reason. We're still investigating this. You can check if your phone is supported here:

  • When I click the link to install Firefox to my Android phone I recieve the error: The requested item could not be found.

My phone is an LG Optimus, presumable of the type necessary to install Firefox. The download does not appear when I click the link.
    Duplicate of https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/781287

Sorry but this phone is not compatible with the current mobile Firefox releases due to the ARMv6 (ARM11) CPU it uses when release work on ARMv7 cpu's.
Also it needs the Android 2.1 update if you are still running 1.6
You can perhaps try the experimental ARMv6 nightlies (Fennec).

  • Alias could not be found....problem related to Windows login

a couple of days ago, i was trying to get my new MBP setup to print to a printer attached to a Windows PC. I still don't have that working, but tried different things i read about on these discussions. One of these methods included designating a user account on the Windows PC. Since i couldn't get the printer to work, i disabled the Windows user account. After that, whenever i tried to connect to the Windows PC on my wireless network, i would get popup asking for authentication. The popup already had the network workgroup and name info filled in. All i had to do was provide a password. This name was the one i used in the past to access this computer so i used the corresponding PW. That resulted in another message that said something like 'the alias for the drive could not be opened cause the original item could not be found'. I researched these discussions & tried a couple of things, none of which worked. Finally, i thought about the user account on the Windows PC that i had setup & wondered if that had something to do with it. I re-enabled the account and the login worked!!! Actually, as long as i use the PW for the account, it works....regardless of the user name i use!
How do I get rid of this 'tie' i've got to the user account on the PC?? There's another PC on my network that i didnt try to install a printer with and i can connect to it without having an account on it for MAC access.
    thanx, mike

i was able to share with the pc in question without a user account before i messed with a printer setup & i can share info on the other pc & have no user acct there.

Everytime I try to sync my iPhone4 to my PC, a notification pops up saying that some of the items (ringtones) cannot be copied because they could not be found. I tried syncing it about 5 times and the same thing happened.

    Problem solved.
