Items on desktop won't allow me to move them.

I work in real estate and constantly drag documents onto my desktop. This feature works fine. What doesn't work is for me to move these items around once they are there. I can drag and drop them into a folder but if I want to rearrange them, it will not allow it. Any suggestions?

Assuming you did this with a Fill Layer, double-click the thumbnail in the Layers panel to bring up the Gradient Fill dialog, see to it that the [ ] Align with layer checkbox is set, and (while the Gradient Fill dialog is still up) try dragging the gradient to where you want it on the main display. Then [ OK ] out of the Gradient Fill dialog.

Songs in the cloud that are not downloaed are grayed out and won't allow me to download them

basically any song that has not been downloaded from the cloud is grayed out..how do I restore them...it was fine just the other day

My phone won't allow me to delete them off. I don't know how all these pictues and movies moved onto my phone in the first place.
Have you synced your iPhone with iTunes? Then you may have enabled the syncing of Pictures in iTunes. All iPhoto or Aperture albums and events will appear as albums on your iPhone, if you enabled this. To delete the synced photos you need to sync your iPhone again. You change the sync settings for photos in iTunes in the device’s Photo pane.

Do you get any specific error messages? Double-check the following:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize this computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
When everything looks correct, sync your phone.

I don't do a lot of dragging to custom arrange my images. But the custom order is right at the bottom of the list of sort orders on my computer.
Added later: But don't worry about the custom order. It doesn't make any difference on my system. Are you sure you are dragging the image itself, and not the border around the image?

Remote Desktop won't allow me to observe computers

The title basically says it: Remote Desktop will not allow me to see some of the computers on the network, for whatever reason. I have more than five computer labs, and the majority of the computers are completely accessible. However, for a select few, when I try to "Observe" or "Control" a message comes up saying, "Connecting to '(computer name)'," and it will never be able to connect: "Connection failed to '(computer name)'."
I have tried upgrading the client and both computers (this and the client) have every apple update so far.
It seems that even though I cannot control or observe them, I can still use Remote Desktop to install things, however.

The problem is, they are all connected to the same subnet, and they're all attached to the same switch and router; the controlling computer is also on the same subnet. The exact situation is we have a lab full of old eMacs (read: 700 MHz PowerPCs, less than 500 GB of ram) running Tiger 10.4.11. There are 24 of them; 6-24 all work properly, but 1-5 don't. I can still update them using Remote Desktop, but I can't "control" them.
I thought it could have been an issue with the switch (as in, things plugged into the wrong sockets, or even the wrong switch), but everything was in order. To make it worse, in another lab, this one with 12 computers, it's 1, 2, 5, 7, and 12 that are having the problem. Earlier, when I was working on a teacher's laptop, I couldn't get it to work on that, either. And I have tried running Remote Desktop from two different computers, and the same computers have the same problems on each.
I hope that didn't muddy the waters too badly.

Do you want to copy some pictures to the external drive, or do you want to move your whole iPhoto library? The latter will free up hard drive space on your start up disk; the procedure is explained here:

Note this is not the same as a Time Machine backup.
If on the other hand you want to copy some photos from one drive to another, you can just drag and drop them from one location to another. This is a true copy, the originals will remain intact.

Playlist just scrolls through tunes at top of screen but won't allow me to play them

my playist just scrolls through each title in the list but won't allow me to stop it nor will it play anything from playlists. installed iOS6 and it worked fine until today (about a week). Also turned on iTunes match and it continued to work for about 3 weeks. Still works on my other iphone4, but not on my 4s. I haven't ever seen this happen, but if quitting apps and hard resets don't do it you might want to start clean. Are you able to run a backup of your iPad mini? If I was in your shoes, I would back up the iPad, erase the iPad and then restore the data to see if that fixes it.
Step 1 would be to back up the data (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).
Step 2 would be to restore the iPad to factory settings (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414).
Step 3 would be to restore the backup (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

When I go to select the photos then hit the arrow to add to existing album it brings up my albums but they are blacked out and won't allow me to select the album I need the photos to go. How do I make it so the photos can go into an album?

Which albums are you trying to add them to ? You should be able to add them to new albums that you've created directly on the iPad, but you can't add photos to albums that were synced from a computer.

Mail unable to send 3 items but won't allow me to delete them

I tried to send out 3 separate photos. The emails keep trying to go out but don't make it. Mail has not put them into drafts and I can't delete them so it will stop trying to send them. So it always say "3 unsent messages" down at the bottom and constantly tries to send them out. How do I delete them???

Do you have a wi-fi network at home and if so, the same when connected to your wi-fi network - the messages can't be sent?
Who is the email account provider for the account such as Yahoo, Gmail, etc.?

That is correct... I know the Admin password but the password for my keychain is not correct and I can't seem to remember what the last password would have been. Any ideas how to reset it? Maybe delete and recreate? I know I may lose some info. Thanks!

I found I could not open my email within hotmail. Hotmail itself works in IE and Google Chrome so I know it is FF. I can open the account but not individual emails nor can I delete junk mail. Nothing within the hotmail window seems to work.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

My Ipad mini keeps going through various applications all by itself and won't allow me to close them

My Ipad keeps going through my contacts, e-mail, ITunes, types by itself and will go through these apps over and over again. I can close them while in the process but just as I close them with the home button it starts right up again. I have tried closing all the open apps by double clicking the home button, which it will show the screen of all the apps but when I try to hold them down to delete them it doesn't respond. I have tried hard reset twice by holding the home button and the top button until the apple logo appears but this hasn't worked.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
