Items on iPod showing as other?

On iTunes, my iPod is showing everything like my music, photos, videos, etc., as other. I can't sync it and I don't know what to do. It's done this before, but I don't know how I fixed it. Any help here?

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

Music on iPod is showing as other & will not sync or restore

Can someone please help??
I turned on my iPod & noticed that all the music was gone. I seen the same amount of space was being used but instead of showing as music storage it is showing as other storage. I didn't think this would be such a problem since all my songs are on my iTunes library. I restored my iPod & tried to re-sync it using iTunes. It will sync a couple hundred songs & just freeze iTunes. It isn't until I disconnect the iPod that iTunes will unfreeze. I have tried this multiple times both manually syncing the songs & automatically syncing once conected.
Also everytime i connect it to my laptop a window box pops up saying that there is a disk error & scan to fix. I press to scan & fix & sometimes it will not go & gives me an error & other times it does the whole scan & says the problems were corrected. Even after the disk problems are "corrected" it still freezes during syncing.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this & what steps in what order I need to take to get my music library back on my iPod?

If the iPod is under one year old (or covered by AppleCare), you should have it looked at by a tech at an Apple Store or authorized repair business and repaired/replaced if necessary.
If not, I would try reformatting the iPod's hard drive in Windows. Quit iTunes if running. You can format it by showing the iPod's hard drive in a Windows Explorer window, and right-clicking it to select the format command. Do a full format instead of a quick format. If formatting completes successfully, run iTunes. Decline any offers to sync. When iTunes opens, select the iPod in the sidebar under DEVICES and do a Restore. Then attempt to do a sync.
If it still fails or the Windows format process fails, it is possible that your iPod's hard drive has become faulty.

At the time of MIRO for Raw material, When we select Goods services+planned delivery cost tab, then for material system shows Migo no. & reference no. But for Freight line item it doesnu2019t show Migo no.& any other references.
For this can we solve by any other method?

Pay freight amount as unplanned delivery cost (in that case you need not have freight line item at the time of GR).

Why won't my iPod work on iTunes or my computer? It shows up (not on iTunes) and the iPod shows connected but it has to be "formatted." And why are half my songs unable to play on it anymore? It just skips them!

I've read through several discussions and I've seen a lot of similar issues but none that were quite like mine. Every time I plug my 3rd gen. iPod nano in it shows it connected on the iPod screen and iTunes opens up but the device does not show up in iTunes. The icon on the iPod shows connected and gives the arrows circling showing syncing even though it still says connected. But it won’t show up in iTunes. It shows up on my windows computer but I can’t click it or make it do anything. It keeps saying “You need to format the disk before you can do anything.” And when I hit cancel it beeps and says "Location not available. Dara error (cyclic redundancy check)." As if I know what that means!! And I have 800 songs on it but they aren’t all on my computer and some are on my parents’ computer but I can’t get to that one. It shows it is a “FAT32” which I have no clue what that means but I’ve never noticed that before.
Windows "can't access the disk" and I don't know why. It gives me that notification if I try to check the drive or disk or device for problems. And if you click it on Windows it pops up a screen with formatting things (which I don't know anything about). And then it closes and says that it CANNOT format the device.
The iPod works almost okay when it isn’t plugged in, but I’ve noticed that half my songs won’t play. You click on it and it plays the next one in the album. And it isn’t always the first song in an album but random songs. And songs I listen to a lot. You can’t go back (you can only go forward and you can’t skip over the ‘missing’ song) or even click to select those songs. But other songs play normal, just not half of them that are on the iPod but all of a sudden no longer work. And I don’t know why. I have another 3rd gen. iPod nano that doesn’t have ANY of these problems. It hooks up, it doesn’t need formatting, and all its songs play. I don’t know what is wrong or what to do. I’ve tried re-downloading iTunes and everything. I don’t want to have to reset my iPod and lose everything.
I’ve tried locating the device in iTunes and it shows the iPod but it gives this weird symbol and I can’t select it. It’s like a white box with a box that is outlined in blue with six random icons in the middle. I’ve seen it before and it always means something is wrong or a file (which is where I have seen it before) is corrupted. And like I said I have a second iPod nano of the same generation and it does not give this weird symbol. Plus it connects just fine. It’s this one iPod.
I don’t understand what is going on. It worked just fine and then all of a sudden I noticed songs wouldn’t play so I went to plug it into iTunes and nothing has worked. I’ve searched discussions and none of the tips help. But I want my songs to play again and I want my iPod back.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

IPod shows up in "My Computer" but not iTunes...please help!

Ok so I have a 8gb iPod nano 5g and my computer is Windows XP running Service Pack 3. I have iTunes fully updated, I know this is so because I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled everything related to iTunes 3 times now. I have looked all over Apples support pages, scoured every possible solution to my problem, but nothing is working. Every time I connect my iPod to my computer, a message in iTunes pops up saying "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect iPod and try again." Yes I have googled that exact phrase and looked at every website that offers solutions that don't work for me.
I know that the problem is not the cable, I have tried 3 different cables and none of them work. When I connect it to my parent's Toshiba laptop running XP SP3 and up to date iTunes, the iPod syncs and works perfectly. In addition, the iPod shows up in "My Compter" but when iTunes then pops up, it no longer appears...I am really at wits end and if I can't figure out what to do the next option is probably snapping this thing in half, because I don't want to pay the money to send it to Apple. Thank you for any help.

Look in Troubleshooting in the iPod 4th Gen User Manual pdf and follow the 5 R's. That should replace whatever in the iPod doesn't permit iTunes to see it.

This is correct. It will not show in finder. It is not an external storage device.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases. Open itunes connect ipod, do not sync, click File>Transfer Purchases

Copy the music from Nano to computer by:

Let me start out by saying I've never had any itunes + ipod probems before. Everything has run smoothly up until now.
Last week I upgraded my OS to 10.4.7 because I had been running on 10.2.8 since 2001 and itunes wouldn't let me download albums containing music videos. So I decided it was time for the upgrade. I also upgraded to itunes 7 and had been previously using itunes 6. This is when the problems started. Now whenever I plug my ipod into my computer with my firewire cord, my ipod shows up on my desktop, but not in itunes and I am completely clueless on what to do. No error messages pop up or anything. My ipod charges and that's about it. I tried doing the 5 R's, but none of that helps. I have a feeling it's itunes's problem and not my ipod's. I was thinking that maybe if I uninstall itunes 7 and re-install 6, everyting would work again; but I don't know how to uninstall itunes and I don't want to risk losing my library. I'd just like for itunes 7 to recognise my ipod and update it. Can anyone help me?

My iPod is a click wheel...I think that's fifth generation?
I've always used my firewire cable to update my iPod. I've tried using USB in the past but for some reason it always says that my iPod has low battery and won't let me update it, so I just use firewire. Can I not use firewire with itunes 7?
I'll try using the USB again. It's laying around here somewhere. Just gotta find it.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup
