ITMS podcast categories - down

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this? I go to ITMS - Podcasts, and when I want to access a particular category, say, "Travel" or "International" - I am taken to the various categories found in the Music section instead. If I type in the podcast category in the search field , it seems to work fine, but clicking on the categories on the lefthand menu is presently disabled - at least for me.
Anybody else find this?

That will be because the Podcast's producer have not completed the Category field when he/she wrote the tags for the epsiode. They have to complete that field for each epsiode, not just the for the page in the Store.
The majority of the Podcasts I download do not show a category and when they do, it's usuallly complete rubbish! I have Podcasts with some episodes showing a category, but other episodes (from the same series) do not. I also have a Podcast which states "Visual Arts" in the Header (title) category but every episode displays (my favourite!) "Podcast" as the category!
In practice, the category is no use because of the way the Podcasters use and abuse it.

Some websites have a link for an international version that allows to select the language, so you can look for that (it may appear as a flag icon).
Local Google sites have a link at the bottom of the page to go to the [http://www.gooogle.com/ncr "Google.com in English"] site.
You may need to hover that local Google page with the mouse to make extra content appear.
You can set Google preferences on the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] page (click the gear icon at the top right).
Such settings are stored in a cookie on your computer that you need to allow.

Podcast Shuts Down iPod

Since upgrading my 60gb iPod and to iTunes 7, nearly all my podcasts shut down my iPod and cause it to reboot. Weird, huh? It happens with all but one of the 15 or so podcasts I subscribe to (most from KCRW). I tried deleting them and resubscribing, but no luck? Any ideas? Very frustrating!

I'm having the same problem with the one podcast I download from KCRW. I've resorted to playing it on my computer and capturing it to an mp3 file that I transfer to the iPod. Sad, isn't it?

As a producer of podcasts, we have received thankful feedback from all over the world! People traveling, residents of other countries, even people aboard ship have written to express their appreciation. And as an end user, I myself have been delighted to find some very helpful podcasts.
Admiration: It takes guts to open the iTMS to the world! In doing so, you have allowed wonderful podcasts to easily find their way to people. And since it's open to all, you wade through the garbage and low end as well. For your courage, you have my admiration.
And an apology: Now that I see the content of some podcasts, I regret that I helped. My admiration for what you have to go through rises.

RSS Feed and Podcast Categories Issue

Hey everyone,
I'm having a lot of problems publishing my podcasts with iweb. I create them on Garageband and then send to iWeb where they're part of a larger site. Anyway, they were working at one stage, but now seem not to be at all.
I ran the RSS feed through fee validator and it's telling me the categories chosen are not longer valid itunes categories. I want them in video games, but there's no choice for this when I'm going through iWeb.
The issue is that I don't know how to get to the RSS feed to edit it. I only see the iWeb format, but I want the actual source code etc to go in and change that around if possible. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks for the help, that is much appreciated. Sadly I'm still having the same issue. The two old dead feeds are still on iTunes after weeks of me asking for them to be removed and also after me putting the block tag into the rss feed. My new one still hasn't shown up even though it was updated on Saturday... it's really a nightmare.

Updating podcasts shuts down itunes - HELP!

For the past two days I've tried to open itunes to listen to my podcasts. It will stay open until it reaches a certain point in the updating of my podcasts and then shuts down. The software is updated and I've tried restarting a few times...any other suggestions?

ITMS Podcast Not Updated

I added an <item> to my feed several hours ago. I still don't see my additional item in my Podcast area.
I used a link from a thread somewhere in this forum that outlined 2 URL methods for sending a "ping" to the iTMS so it updates. That has done nothing that I can detect.
Also.... there was an email, a review period, etc for my first Podcast. Will every episode I setup have to go thru this? I can't re-submit my feed, iTMS just says it's up already.
Ideas???

Australian Apple Store missing More... option on podcast categories

In the Australian iTunes Store there is a problem when you browse podcasts.
Previously, when you browsed a top-level category like 'Religion and Spirituality', there would always be a box called 'More Religion and Spirituality' which would allow you to browse the sub categories like Hinduism, Buddhism, Spirituality etc.
This box has recently disappeared. I am trying to understand whether this was deliberate or just a mistake nobody has picked up.
This makes it very difficult for people to browse to find new podcasts in their given category, as only the most popular podcasts are available to browse.
I note that this is not the case with other iTunes Stores around the world which still have the More option appearing.

To access the Chat feature, you need to first go to the Apple Store section of apple.com. Next, click on the iMac. This will then take you to the iMac section of the Apple Store. After several seconds, you should see a chat button appear in the upper left of the page near the 1-800-MY-APPLE number.
Simply click this button and you will be connected to a live person that can help answer your questions. Hope this helps!

Itunes 7 podcasts not down loading

if i click on the"get" button in the podcast section of the library i get a exclamation point i unsubscribed and resubscribed still will not work,

That's odd because I have no blue dots next to four podcasts that I haven't listened to yet, and I have two blue dots next to podcasts that I have listened to already. That's why the blue dots threw me. They didn't correspond to whether or not I had listened to the podcasts.
The podcasts are now syncing to my iPod, though, so that's an improvement. I deleted all of the podcasts that wouldn't sync (which seemed to correspond to the ones downloaded on 9/12 or 9/13), then reloaded them, then shut down iTunes and opened it up again. When I connected my iPod, all of the "new" podcasts synced perfectly.

Podcasts shut down iPod

When I download a podcast from iTunes, it will play for about 20 seconds then my iPod shuts down, restarts and goes to the menu. I have tried converting the podcast to AAC but the same thing happens. I have a 5th gen. iPod and the software is 1.1. Any ideas as to the problem or solution?

Altering ITMS discription of my podcast.

I got my ITMS podcast listing up. Woohoo! But, I am not satisfied with what it looks like in ITMS. Can any one tell me how to alter what appears in the ITMS?

I am using Wordpress 1.5.2 to publish my blog and podcast. (So far this seems to work great.) The only downside that I have run into so far is that I don't see any way to alter what is in the ITMS through the Wordpress Web interface. I seem to recall having greater flexibility in this area when I was using Movable Type as my blogging software.
So If any one know a thing about this let me know. I am not sure if this is a limitation of my software, my knowledge on how to use it, or if I am just moving a bit to fast because it has been all so easy so far.

To alter the description in the iTMS, you would have to change the XML for the iTunes Summary tag. I believe it should look like this:
<itunes:summary>Nio TV is a video podcast that chronicles the journeys and adventures of this baby superstar. Videos are shot on a MiniDV camcorder, edited on iMovie, and exported through Quicktime. Videos are saved in the video iPod-friendly MPEG-4 format with the .m4v file extension. It is highly recommended that you view them through iTunes 6.</itunes:summary>
Just be aware that iTunes doesn't update it right away. It might take a day or two for you to see your changes.

Podcast Subcategories not displaying correctly in store - Anyone else?

Currently when drilling down into the iTunes store into podcast categories the browsable view is missing. I'm getting an "old fashioned" category style view rather than the nice browsable view with "New" and "Featured" and "Top Podcasts" etc. Is this problem unique to me or are others experiencing it as well.

I'm having this problem again. It started last night and is still doing it this morning. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Apple Support - please note I am not just describing the new look of the subcategories. I produce top 100 podcasts and am very familiar with how the subcategories should look.

Podcasts in a playlist only play one at a time instead of in seq

I just got a 6G nano iPod.
I have smart playlists that include my favorite podcasts in reverse time sequence.
When I play from this list, only one episode at a time will play. After the episode completes then the iPod goes back to the playlist where you can manually select the next podcast.
This works fine on my 3 or 4 G (I don't know which it is) nano.
I want to play all the podcasts in the playlist one-after-the-other without stopping playback.

I have smart playlists which have Media type "Podcast" and Play Count = 0. These playlists were only playing one song at a time.
The solution that I found to the problem was to
connect ipod
goto ipod in devices
select podcasts
select sync podcasts
DON'T SELECT AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE ALL EPISODES OF ALL PODCASTS
Scroll down to Include Episodes from Playlists
Then select all the smart playlists that include ipod episodes.
This means those playlists are copied to the ipod and they play in order.
It doesn't seem to matter whether or not the playlist is selected as well under the Music tab.
