ITMS Podcast Not Updated

I added an
to my feed several hours ago. I still don't see my additional item in my Podcast area.
I used a link from a thread somewhere in this forum that outlined 2 URL methods for sending a "ping" to the iTMS so it updates. That has done nothing that I can detect.
Also.... there was an email, a review period, etc for my first Podcast. Will every episode I setup have to go thru this? I can't re-submit my feed, iTMS just says it's up already.
Ideas???
Beavis2084

okay.
i've gone ahead and made my ttl 1.
we shall see..
but apparently ppl are having problems with the feed in the iTMS.
here is the rss.xml file in it's entirety... perhaps i have something fouled up in there.. it's always something trivial.

• Issue with my podcast not updating to subscribers

Hi,
I recently took over podcast duties for our podcast. And around a month before I took over (mid-march) I began recieving complaints that the podcast wasn't updating to subscribers. It seems to be mostly from people using the IOS podcast ap. I am using it myself, and I can search for the podcast and find it, but as a subscriber the podcast will not update automatcially, or aknowledge that a new podcast has been uploaded. I am aware that it can take a few days to update from my feed, but it still should alert subscribers when a new podcast is uploaded.
my page https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/branches-a-christian-church/id512745759?mt=2
Thanks in advance for the help!

Your feed is at http://www.themim.com/podcasts/branches_podcasts.xml
The latest episode in it is 29 April, and this shows in the Store and when subscribing in iTunes on a Mac, so all this is normal.
I don't have an iOS device so I'm not in a position to check if there are any problems there. Your server does handle the required 'byte ramge requests' so it ought to work OK, but if it doesn't I can only advise asking in the iPhone forum - everything in the feed seems to be correct.

• Why is my podcast not updating correctly?

My podcast, the jaguar tapes: https://itunes.apple.com/nl/podcast/the-jaguar-tapes/id557617194?l=en&mt=2
It's not updating anymore! The new artwork isn't showing up. Also the new episode isn't in there on the correct date.
Can someone please help me out?
cheers Thom

Your feed is at http://www.mothermusic.nl/podcast/JaguarPodcast.xml
It has 13 episodes, all of which show in the iTunes Store. However episode 13 has no date and so appears out of order; the only possible reason I can see for this is that in your 'pubDate' tag you have a comma after 2014, which is strictly not correct.
The media file URL for this episode is
http://www.mothermusic.nl/podcast/Jaguar13.mp3
and there is no file at this address.
The Podcast Image appears correctly on the Store page, and the media file for episode 12 has an embedded image. There is of course no image for episode 13 when subscribing because there is no file there.
If you have a question about your own podcast (as opposed to playing other people's) it's best to ask in the Producing Podcasts forum.

• Podcasts not updating after 11.3 iTunes update

About half my podcasts wont update since the upgrade.
I attempted to refresh and no dice. Also, tried to resubscribe to problem subscriptions, and again, nothing.
What next?

I have the same problem. After having downloaded iTunes Version 11.3.0.54....if I dare to update podcasts, play an existing podcast, do ANYTHING with podcasts, the entire iTunes freezes and I can't even move my mouse. I then do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete....go to Task Manager....and it says that iTunes is not responding. I then close iTunes....but if I go anywhere near Podcasts....the whole process happens over again.
It's obvious that there is some sort of bug going on.
Does anyone know a workaround to this problem?
Does Apple know about this problem?
Any idea when it might be fixed or are we to have to have to wait for a new iTunes Version in the hopes that it is fixed?
Thanks for the question....BradEF!

• Help! Podcast not updating - how do I fix this?

I have been asked to look into why our podcast (Without Limits Christian Center) is not updating in iTunes. I am not familiar with iTunes at all and to be honest the specs are a little like reading Greek at this point. The web address where our podcast is located is http://wlcconline.com/index.php/?/media/podcasts/.
I know we switched servers a while back with out web host (GoDaddy) from a Windows server to a Linux. Is that the problem? Can anyone give me any guidance on what might be going on and how to fix it - preferably in English and not tech language if that is possible. Thanks!!

Roger,
Thank you so much for your help! It is beginning to make sense. I took a look at your site, and from what I'm reading there and in the technical specs for iTunes, it looks like I need to remove our podcast and resubmit it with your new URL, since our old one is no longer accessible at all.
Could you help me with one more thing? I believe our new URL would be the one below, does this look right to you? It goes to the page where our podcasts are now located. I checked with our web host, and they believe it is right, but they don't have any iTunes experience, so thought I'd check with you as well.
Also, would take any hints you have on removing the podcast and resubmitting for a new one. Our developer did it for us last time, but I'll be doing it this time so that part is new as well.
Thank you again for your assistance; GREATLY appreciated!!

• Podcast not updating from RSS into iTunes

Hi,
I am having a problem with iTunes not updating the most recent iteration of the XML file.
URL for the file: http://strategiccoach.com/promotions/teamsuccess/team-success-rss.xml
Episodes 1-7 appear in iTunes, but any newer podcasts are not being picked up. It has been over a week since updating the XML and iTunes has yet to update.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Josh

Your episode of Mach 10th appear when subscribing, and the feed appears to be OK. Actually I'm surprised your episodes work as they have URLs beginning with https rather than http - this used to guarantee that it wouldn't work in the Store but perhaps they've changed that. I can't see any other problem, so it may just be that the Store is having a sticky patch - this does happen occasionally, and if this is the case there isn't really anything you can do about it except wait it out.

• Everything on iPod wiped out...now podcasts not updating

A couple days ago I had wanted to add an episode of a podcast to my iPod but wasn't on my XP account. It had downloaded to the XP account I was on, so I figured it would be easier to just update from there instead of logging off and waiting 5 minutes to log onto my account so all the antivirus stuff could load. So I plugged my iPod in and dragged the podcast episode to my iPod in the Source column (it's updated manually). Without warning, iTunes wiped out everything that had been on my iPod and started replacing it with everything on this particular iTunes library. I panicked and quickly unplugged my now empty iPod. I haven't been able to recover any of my songs except some of the podcasts. I downloaded Recover My Files, and it found a good number of the songs, but a) many have been overwritten (whatever that means) and b) it wanted me to pay 70 dollars for an activation code (first time is supposed to be free). Ever since my iPod was wiped out, iTunes has not updated the podcasts, so I manually downloaded the episodes I missed and added them to my library on my XP account. I dragged them to my iPod, and iTunes wiped out every podcast I had salvaged and left just the two I manually downloaded.
So,
1. Is there any hope for me to recover my songs?
2. Why is iTunes not updating my podcasts and wiping out my songs whenever I add new ones to iPod?
Thanks
ETA: No, I didn't back up my music, it was one of those things I meant to do.

Will the podcasts that can't be found actually play in iTunes on the computer? For the message I would say they will not play because iTunes can't find the actual file.

• Podcast Not Updating! Need Help Please!

Hey everyone--
I'm by no means an expert. I was able to use feedburner to get a podcast up and running. The feed is:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/BedNazPodcast
The latest three episodes will not update. I've tried everything I can find, including a comprehensive search of these very forums. I've pinged multiple times. I simply can't figure it out. Does anyone have any advice for me? I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks.

Your feed has 14 episodes in it, the last being dated November 15th and entitled BCN 11/14/10. All 14 appear in the Store and when subscribing.
Your feed links to a site at http://bednaz.tumblr.com/ . This shows three more recent episodes, added 1 day ago. These have not made it into the feed - hence their non-appearance in the Store. This is something you will have to investigate at Tumblr: it's not an iTunes problem.
Once you get the episodes into the feed and republish it, they will take around 2 days to appear in the Store, though they will appear immediately for subscribers.

• Many podcasts not updating on Mac and iPhone

Podcasts I'm subscribed to, do not update on the Mac or the iPhone.

Perhaps the authors are not updating them. Perhaps the authors have messed up the feeds in some way. Perhaps your firewall is blocking them. Perhaps your iTunes is corrupted in some way. How can anyone possibly know without being able to at least look at one or two and see whether they work? Perhaps you could post a couple of examples - give the iTunes Store page URL (control-click or right-click on the podcast image and choose 'Copy URL')

• ITunes Podcasts NOT Updated to Podcast Page

Since Nov 25, our new posted podcasts are NOT being updated to our main Podcast page. They ARE being updated to anyone who has subscribed, but they are NOT showing up on our Podcast home page.
Have been using the the iTunes Podcasts Page for our class in Sports Broadcasting and is really causing trouble for all as we approach final exams and projects for the semester.
Could someone please tell us how this can be fixed ASAP. Could it be because of some of the recent updates to iTunes?
Thx Much

sent this to Feedback today....
We continue to have issues with our podcast page not being updated. WE missed the last two weeks of the term and are very, very annoyed that our Podcast page on iTunes was not updated during the very important end of the semester.
All worked PERFECTLY for two years, then suddenly there are no updates to our Podcast page on iTunes Since November 25, 2008.

• Podcasts not updating since upgrade to 11.3.1

I have iTunes store and non-iTune store podcasts and they all stopped updating after the upgrade to 11.3.1. Occasionally some would get a new episode, but not all the ones missed. I tried unsubscribing and subscribing to some of them, but it doesn't seem to fix the issue. Unsubscribing, deleting all episodes from iTunes and subscribing again worked for only one of the few I tried.

I read some articles about issues like this when having an iPod connected to the computer, so I tried with the iPod connected and disconnected, but the problem persists. I started watching the Podcasts on VLC now and I can see all new chapters and updates no problem there. I might switch to another podcast manager, anybody has any suggestions?
Thanks,

• Podcast not updating

Hello,
For some reason yesterday the podcast I added never showed up:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/team-beachbody-coach-podcast/id455078215
This is updated weekly every Monday but yesterday's Podcast never showed up. Here is the xml used:

NWC: 2014: Ignite Your Business

<itunes:author>Beachbody</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>2014: Ignite Your Business</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>If there's one person who knows how to set goals then blast past them, it's Beachbody Co-Founder and CEO, Carl Daikeler. On Monday's call, Carl will be kicking off 2014 with expert advice on how to make this year the best one yet–with an important call-to-action for every Coach. Plus, this week's National Wakeup Call doubles as an exciting intro to our LIVE January Surge event from 9am–5pm PST immediately following. Don't miss it!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:keywords>Team Beachbody Coach podcast, National Coach Call, Tools, Training, Carl Daikeler</itunes:keywords>

I've been doing these every week without a hitch for a while, any idea what's wrong?

Please don't post the actual feed contents - the URL is what one needs, which for reference is
http://images.beachbody.com/podcasts/beachbodycoach.xml
The latest episode, January 6, appears in the Store's Web page linked to above, and when subscribing, but so far the Store hasn't caught up. It was posted only yesterday so this isn't at all unusual - it's quite normal for the Store to take 1-2 days to catch up and it can sometimes be longer.
Your feed is OK, though your media file URLs have spaces in them (the folder called 'Coach Call') - spaces are not allowed in a URL but as the feed has correctly substituted the code %20 it's not actually a problem but it's not good practice and I would advise avoiding it - the usual workaround is to substitute an underscore as you have done elsewhere.

• Podcast not updating in iTunes application

My podcast shows up fine in my RSS feed on my server. It shows up fine in the iTune Store.
My podcast is NOT showing up in my iTunes Application feed and shows the like there is a broken link somewhere when I try to "Update Podcast".
My RSS feed:
feed://www.nathan-russell.com/ovs/ovs.xml
iTunes preview:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-overnight-variety-show/id420386052
I recently updated my feed with 2 new episodes on August 22nd, 2011. Normally it doesn't take 4 days to update in my iTunes Application. I've previously used the email that Apple sent upon approval of my podcast to ping my server and "update" my iTunes Application to show the most recent additions but the link they provided in that email ( https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=420386052 ) has stopped working as well.
Please help me determine why my updated RSS feed is not showing up in the subscription to my own podcast within the iTunes Application itself.
Thank you kindly!

You have rendered your feed invalid. 'Episode 16 - promo' contains two unescaped ampersands, one in the 'itunes:summary' tag and once in the 'description' tag"
'A.J. Finney, Dallas Orbiter & Jesse Joyce.'
An ampersand by itself indicates the start of a code sequence which is never terminated, thus rendering the entire feed unreadable.
Oddly enough, this text appears successfully in the iTunes Store page: did you change it to the uncoded ampersand at a later stage? Usually this mistake stops the Store page updating as soon as it's in the feed.
You need to replace both ampersands with the code & or the word 'and'. Once you do this the feed will work.
The 'ping' facility has been withdrawn from the iTunes Store for some time now (I'm not convinced that it ever worked anyway) - you just have to wait for the Store to update in its own time (usually 1-2 days).

• Podcast not updating episodes in iTunes store

Hi,
I have a podcast that is not showing newer episodes. My feed appears to be fine because I can subscribe to it and see the new episodes. I've also updated iTunes artwork and the store updated that within a day. Is there something wrong with my feed?
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/mojo-in-the-morning-podcast/id257739576
source: http://www.mojointhemorning.com/podcast/MojointheMorningPodcast.xml
thanks

The Store shows only the seven episodes posted on 2 December, whereas the large number both before and since then are visible when subscribing.
This is rather weird - it would be more usual for episodes after a given date not to show because of an error, and earlier ones shouldn't be affected.
However, there are a number of minor errors in the feed and I would refer you to the FeedValidator report. There is one which struck me as a possible cause for problems. The title tag of one of the episodes for 18 December reads

Already Opened My GiftsÔøΩ

The characters after 'Gifts' show up as a '?' in most readers but from what you see above it looks as if you've managed to insert something odd, probably by initially writing in a word processor (never a good idea). You should delete whatever you see after 'Gifts' and if you want a question mark type it directly in a plain text editor.

• Podcast not updating after receiving approval notification from iTunes

Subscription via the iWeb created page works fine
last 8 podcast updates not posted in iTunes
When subscribing to the podcast through iTunes the message "there was a problem downloading...the URL could not be found on the server" appears
What should i do?
http://web.me.com/fulltank/www.fulltank.com/Dr.HofmannsPrescription/rss.xml
http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/dr-hofmanns-prescription/id415225811

Since having the podcast accepted you've changed its name in iWeb from 'Dr.HofmannsPrescription' to 'Dr.Hofmanns_PrescriptionPodcast' and this has messed up the feed URL. Your feed is now at
http://web.me.com/fulltank/www.fulltank.com/Dr.Hofmanns_PrescriptionPodcast/rss.xml
You need to change the name back in iWeb and republish.
