Itnues 10.1 update wom't convert MP3 files to ACC files

Grrr having a nightmare at the moment. I'm trying to convert some MP3 files to ACC format but the option has gone from the drop down menu. This has only been since I updated to 10.1. What is going on with Apple at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you manage to resolve it? I did try to go back a version but that is no good :0( woud really appreciate some advice
Thanks
Maria

could be a permissions problem. try this:
check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
the important part is to *apply to enclosed items* !
also try repairing permissions on your startup disk using *disk utility* (in applications/utilities). don't worry if you see strange errors ➠ _*permission repair messages you can safely ignore*_.
as long as you see +permissions repair complete+ @ the end, you're in the green.

  • Burn a mp3 disk with acc files

    I have a library full of ACC (mp4) files. In the old days I have chosen mp3 as my iTunes format but seduced by soundquality/filesize I converted all my CDs to ACC again.
    Now...i recently bought a mp3 capable cd player for the car. In the old days I could just choose a playlist up to 700mb and burn it to a cd. Is there an easy way (automator, applescript, toast) to burn a ACC file playlist into a mp3 CD without manually converting acc->mp3 and then deleting duplicates after etc. etc......
    I have Toast 7.
    thank you in advance for tips.
    pierre

    iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Importing > change "Import using" to mp3 encoder, and if required change the bitrate etc, in the "Setting" menu.
    Now, in the main library window, select and ctrl-click on the track(s) you want to convert and you will see a "Covert selection to mp3" option.
    The "Convert selection to ...." option will change depending on what format you have selected to import files as.
    A warning though: AAC files converted to mp3s probably won't sound very nice!

  • How can I convert m4p's or ACC files to MP3s so I can make a mp3 Disk?

    Trying to make a mp3 disk for my Bose Wave system with all my jazz tunes, figured it would be nice to have all the music on one disk instead of multiples. However, the files I have are not mp3 format. How can I make my Jazz playlist songs mp3 format so I can burn it to disk? I have a 20" imac G5 with the latest itunes.
    Thanks for your help!

    If they are Protected AAC's purchased from the iTunes Music Store it is against the Apple Licence to convert them, if you want help ask elsewhere. if they are AAC's imported onto your Mac using iTunes instead, then you can convert them using iTunes by going to preferences and the advanced tab, then choose the importing sub-tab and change the format to MP3 Encoder, then simply select the songs in your Jazz playlist you want to convert and Ctrl Click of them and choose the convert to MP3 option, you will then have MP3's you can put on an MP3 CD. - The only problem is the quality may be noticably worse. As you say you have a Bose Wave System which sounds quite good this may be a problem for you...
    The better solution (though unfortunately more expensive ) would be to buy an iPod of some sort and connect that up to the Bose Wave system, I know nothing about your stereo but you can buy an cable which plugs into the top of your ipod for less than £5 ($8-9) to connect up to your stereo either through the phono ports at the back or if it has a special MP3 player input you could connect the iPod up at the front. The iPod would also be able to play any protected AAC's you had downloaded from iTunes too.

  • Convert MP3 to a larger file size?

    Hello,
    I recently imported a CD into iTunes in MP3 format. I then changed my import settings to a higher quality. When I did "create MP3 version" of the song I just imported it created a LARGER file! How is this possible and what kind of "fluff" is iTunes putting into the MP3 when you try to convert a MP3 to a higher quality setting?

    Actually "fluff" is a pretty good description! It takes the compressed file that you started with and re-encodes the same audio information into more bits. Needless to say, that does not improve the quality.
    Once the MP3 (or AAC) compression has happened, padding it out to a higher bit rate does not add quality. The reference to "quality" in the bitrate means that if you rip from the source CD using a higher bitrate, less audio compression is needed and you get a higher quality result.
    If you want better quality audio files, re-import from the source CD using the higher bitrate.

  • How do I convert AIFF song files in iTunes to ACC files to fit iPod?

    How do I convert AIFF song files in iTunes to ACC files to fit iPod? My AIFF files are appartently bigger per song than ACC files. How do I convert an AIFF song or playlist in iTunes to ACC files so they take up less room. Right now I can only fit 50 songs as opposed to 500 songs. The songs are already in iTunes as AIFF files. Most of the songs I inport are original songs from CD's that are already AIFF files. How do I convert them when going into my iPod?
    g-5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod Nano

    Thank you so much! I now know how to convert AIFF audio files to ACC files, and I can keep the original AIFF file! One other concern though -- how do I tell which is the bigger AIFF file and which is the new smaller ACC file? iTunes doesn't have an obvious place/window that tells me the audio file size. Is there a way to tell the two apart. It looks like it creates an identical file name, not even a "copy" extension or anything -- so it's impossible to tell them apart. Is there another secret here?

  • How can I convert MP3 to AWB or AMR format

    How can I convert MP3 to AWB, AMR format?

    Because I faced the same issue today and although the Nokia Multimedia Converter was last updated in the year 2003, it did the trick for me. Instead of giving the setup.exe your Nokia Account, go back one step, and use this to ‘register’ that product.
    In that converter, as audio, select AMR Wideband (WB AMR) which creates .awb files. Those have a sampling rate of 16 000 Hz which is great for HD-Voice like audio books. Actually for voice-only media, I went for a bit-rate of just 12.2 kbps, still great as explained by Wikipedia. With that bit-rate only go for standard AMR if your phone does not support the wideband variant, because there is not difference in size.

  • Converting mp3 to podcast iTunes 11.1.2.31, iPhone 7.0.3

    I would like to convert mp3's to podcasts. In the past if I dragged the mp3 into music, then right clicked the file>options and changed media kind to podcast it would move that file into podcasts and when I synced it would move the file onto my iPhone as a podcast. This procedure no longer works. The new update to 7.0.3 no longer has podcasts in Music so I downloaded the Apple Podcast App. Does anyone have a solution?

    I am experiencing the same issue. I regularly change mp3 to podcasts within iTunes (change type to podcast and remember position).
    Immediately following my update to 11.1.3 (Mac, Mavericks), the files that are created no longer function on my iPhone. iTunes says that they are transferring, but when I open the podcast app, they are not there. All of my downloaded podcasts work fine, but the converted ones are no longer visible or playable.
    When I do a spotlight search on the phone, the files show, but the official podcast app and a few other podcast apps that I downloaded cannot see them. These files worked fine after the latest iOS update. It wasn't until getting iTunes 11.1.3 that this problem surface.

  • ITunes 11 convert mp3 to podcast

    Not bashing (yet!)  I have learned to give software changes a few days to win me over.
    However, I have not been able to convert mp3 to podcast since the update.  I like to listen at double speed and I do seem to be able to convert to audiobook so that could be a workaround.  I'd rather use podcast.
    I've tried converting multiple files at the same time and one at a time using "Get Info"
    Any ideas?

    And it appears we have a winner!

    Sorry – I didn't mean to suggest that my solution was a good solution, just that it might be a temporary fix for some of you until Apple fixes the bug (if indeed they consider it a bug).
    skirsman: I'm not sure why you say ID3 Editor needs to be compiled. Go tohttp://www.pa-software.com/downloads.php and look for the download options under ID3 Editor. However, you're right about it being trial software. For me this wasn't a problem, because I'm not looking for a long-term solution, and I was able to change the metadata for 140 MP3s. If you're interested in this approach, it'd be worth searching for other apps that do this – ID3 Editor was simply the first thing I found, and its trial period was sufficient for my needs. I believe it's also possible to write AppleScripts or Python code (or whatever) to do this automatically, and I might attempt something like that if this problem sticks around.
    7smcb: Sorry I didn't give more detailed instructions. Here are instructions for the Mac version (Windows version is probably similar):
    Run ID3 Editor.
    It will ask you to open a file. Choose the MP3 you want to modify.
    Go to the Podcast tab (see screenshot).
    Enable the "podcast tag" by checking the box (see screenshot).
    Give an identifier, feed location (optional), and description (optional). See info further below.
    Click Update.
    Import the file into iTunes.
    As far as I can tell, you don't need to give both an identifier and a feed (just one is sufficient), but I gave both. I also added a description as well, but this seems to be optional. If you leave all the fields blank iTunes will not accept the file as a podcast.
    If you want to do this with a whole bunch of files at once, go to File > Open Group in ID3 Editor, which allows you to modify the metadata for many files at once.
    As far as I know, the identifier should be set to something unique for each file, so that iTunes can treat it as a separate episode or whatever. I didn't experiment with giving loads of files the same identifier – not sure what iTunes will do in this case.
    The location should point to the RSS feed where new episodes can be downloaded. For many of you, you won't need to bother setting this.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks to you JohnWilliamCarr for a simple, if not cumbersome, solution.
    This worked for my files and I was even able to do groups of files (separate file for each hour of the show)

  • Need to convert MP3 in URL to play it in myspace

    Hello
    Help ! I need to convert MP3 into URL? (I have a flashfetish player on Myspace they only read url for a dj mix)
    which sites or witch converter?
    Hope to speak soon !

    there is no such thing as "converting an mp3 to a URL." a URL is a pointer to where the file resides online. iow, you have to "upload" the mp3 somewhere (typically a web site that you own), and then use that URL to point to the file.
    for example this:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/BBPages/History/BBMp3s/01Real%20World.mp3
    points to a file located on the bulletsandbones web site

  • Office for Mac 2004 update or docx converter download killed my Office?

    On my work computer, an old desktop Mac, with 10.4.11, I download the docx converter today to open a docx attachment i had received in an email (a doc I expected, from a friend). After the converter downloaded, the email attachment opened fine, then the microsoft updater opened saying it needed to update the converter. I started it, but it looked like the same window as installing the converter, so i stopped the update. I then realized what it was trying to do and in the dock saw an icon for Microsoft Updater, opened it, and asked it to look for updates. It came up with 11.6 update. I downloaded that, when it finished, went to install and when it said it was installing 1039 items I thought that was crazy, not what I was looking for, so I stopped that as well. After that, I tried to open Word using the icon in my dock, nothing happened, same with Entourage and Excel, none of them worked. The icons are there, but you click on them and nothing happens. I searched in the Microsoft folder and all other files are there, border art, etc but in the Startup folder in Microsoft, the Word and Excel folders are empty, no .exe file or Icons. I thought it got screwed up with me stopping the update installs, so I reinstalled both updates, they installed fine, even the 11.6 Office update "found" the software it needed to update said it was successful, no errors in either install. I restarted the computer and still, nothing. I called Microsoft for Mac tech support, they did not know where they went, suggested I reinstall from the CD. Problem is, our CD drive doesn't work. And I understand I can't do a system restore because we have 10.4.11 and time machine (or whatever it is called) is avail in 10.5 on. I was wondering if I uninstall both updates, would I get the exe files back? I did a search of the whole computer for the files with tech support, they aren't there. I was thinking maybe something in the docx converter disabled the 2004 exe files because maybe it is for 2008 and so now the apps are looking for 2008 exe? I don't know, I'm no expert, just trying to figure out which thing screwed everything up and how to get it all back. Help!

    Since our disk drive doesn't work, I was thinking of installing the software onto an external hard drive using another computer, and then plugging external hide drive into that computer and grabbing it from there, do you think I can install that way?
    I do not think this would work with M$ Office. MS places the software all over the startup disk. You never know with M$ software, they avoid mac os conventions & invent their own.
    There is a way of creating a virtual cd/dvd.

  • Python / Audio Conversion - I want to convert mp3 to wav

    Hi, Ive dabbled very little in actual coding, wrote one python app that these forums really helped me make, and Ive programmed in VBScript and SQL Server, but all academic, nothing for my own uses.  I need a program to convert mp3's to .wav's that can then be burned in 'Recorder' to burn the audio disc.  I know there are many scripts like this floating around, but I want to do my own, problem is, im lost.  I seem to have 2 main problems, getting the file names into a list or tuple,  and then actually running the commands to convert using a for loop using lame or mpg321.
    this bash script uses mpg321 and sox,
    #!/bin/bash
    # allmp3wav
    for i in *.mp3; do
    echo "$i"
    tgt=$(echo "$i" | sed -e "s/mp3/wav/")
    mpg123 -b 10000 -s -r 44100 "$i" | sox -t raw -r 44100 -s -w -c2 - /var/cdrom/"$tgt"
    done
    This works fine and I understand the code.  Its saying for every file that ends in .mp3, run these commands, which do the coding.  The only problem is, this doesnt work in python, since its not pythong   Can someone give me a little bit of help?  Dont give me the program, or give me to much info, links would be great.
    1 - Need to Get Directory
    2 - Loop through all the .mp3 files and add them to an array.
    3 - create a sub directory named "wav"
    mkdir ~/wav
    4 - copy all the mp3's to "wav"
    cp ARRAy to wav/
    5 - convert all .mp3's to wav
    6 - delete the copied mp3's from .wav directory
    for .mp3
    rm
    7 - tell me how many wavs were created.
    for .wav
    count + 1
    That is just a rough flow chart of what I need to do, and as you can see its pretty bare as of now.  Also, I imagine to run mpg321 or lame commands, I need some sort of lame or mpg321 module?  Ive read the python wiki for for loops and lists and tuples, but I need more info.  Thanks, Justin.

    Alright that helped alot, its almost working now, I am using Popen wrong still I assume, here is what I got.
    import os
    import subprocess
    here = os.getcwd()
    ctr = 0
    for file in os.listdir(here):
        name, ext = os.path.splitext(file)
        if ext == ".mp3":
                    p = subprocess.Popen("mpg123 -w " + name + ".wav " + name + ext , stdout=subprocess.PIPE, shell=True)
                    ctr = ctr + 1
    print ctr
    That executes, but gives this error,

    If i remove the subprocess popen, and just print name + ext and use the counter, it prints out both file name together, and how many mp3's it processed, 2.  So i know the program is doing what I want, im just converting wrong.  Thanks again.
    here is whats in the directory, there is more then mp3's, so I know it is filtering the files properly thanks to your splittext.

  • ABAP code in update rules to convert the date

    Hi,
    Could any one send me the ABAP code that is written in the update rules to convert the date (DD/MM/YYYY  -- lenght 10) to YYYYMMDD ---  length 8  format.
    Also please let me know where I should write this code; while creating update rules or while creating infosource.
    Thanks,

    Hi Bharath,
    Hi Bharath,
    I suggest you do the conversion of dates in the transfer rules. Here is the correct code you need:
    * Assuming the source data field is called MYDATE
    * Place the ff. in the routine in the transfer rules:
    concatenate tran_structure-mydate+6(4) tran_structure-mydate+3(2) tran_structure-mydate(2) into result.
    replace MYDATE with the name of the source field (10 chars) in the transfer structure. Hope this helps.

  • Why does Logic Convert MP3 to Aif and store them on Desktop?

    Gentlemen please bear with me on this probably elementary question here - (you are dealing with someone who until recently refused to stop using Logic 6 on an old but very stable G4 tower OS 9 because it worked so perfectly and still does)...
    I have found that when importing audio files( ie CD tracks or MP3s) from an external hard drive into the audio window (via Control F) , there is some sort of preference which does not simple use the original file but copies it to my desktop into a new fold called "Audio".
    In the actual song document, looking at the song path and recording path etc, everything points to my faithful La Cie external hard drive. There is obviously some extra step or song managing process included in Logic 7 which does this and which I have yet to figure out...
    Could this be something to do with the Project Manager preferences ( I never use this feature except for Save as Project when backing up a song at the end of the process when it is done and dusted)
    Any explanations gratefullly accepted
    Powerbook 5,8   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   G4 Powerbook

    I'm not sure I can help. Compressed audio files must be converted to work in Logic version prior to 7.2. Otherwise, audio files should remain in their original locations unless you've specified in you project settings to copy external files into your project folder. It gets messy working on a seesion for which there is no project folder created, in my opinion. You might just want to save your new sessions as projects, but don't check the "copy external audio..." box until you're ready to archive. That way, at least your converted mp3s will land in a tidy location.
    I partly responded to give this post a bump, becuse I'm not sure I have the answer.

    For to get mp3 saved as multichannel audio, you need to record while playing the mp3 file using Creative Media Source (play mp3 file w/ another software, on Media Source set the recording format to "WAV multichannel" and recording source to "What U Hear". You also need to set the CMSS 3D by the instructions behind the above link).
