  • Itouch crashed when updating ios6 and now won't restore

My itouch crashed when updating to ios6 and now won't restore! Getting an error code (14). Any ideas?

    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • Itouch freezes when updating apps

Why does my itouch freeze up when updating apps? How do I fix this?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings.iTunes and App store and sign out and sing back in
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can my itouch 3rd gen update to iOS 5?

Can itouch 3rd generation 4.2.1 update to ios 5 ?

  • Slow itouch after latest update: click on app, tries to delete.

After update 4.3.2 last week, itouch is extremely slow, unresponsive.  When I click on an app, all the apps wiggle with the black X like to delete an app.  I want to restore it, but I am afraid of losing all my apps.

    - If all the apps are in your iTunes library then no since they will sync back to the iPod as part of the restore from backup.
    - I would get all the app in your iTunes library, then backup your iPod and then restore the iPod from backup.
    - If problem persists then you need to restore to factory defaults/new iPod since you may have corruption that is now in your backup.

  • 2nd generation iTouch won't update to iOS 4. currently running 3.1.3

Help, I want to update my older iTouch for my kids to play on (and leave my iPhone alone), but most of the games in the app store require iOS 4+ and when I sync with iTunes, it tells me that I am running the most up-to-date verson. Is this true?

That sounds like it is a 1st generation iPod. Does it have external volume controls? If no, it is a first gen, and can not be upgraded beyond iOS 3.1.3.

  • ITouch 3rd gen updating to iOS6, stuck due to unknown error

Hi I got a iTouch 3rd generation (still running iOS4.x), tried to update to iOS6 through iTune, got this "Unknown Error Occurred while updating" error,
Now it only shows the USB plug pointing to iTune icon, like this:
I browsed this forum, found a few tips, like this one, then tried to get it into DFU mode by pressing power + home button for 10 sec, then home button alone, but no luck. Neither my computer nor the iTune could recognize it now.
What should I do? Any advice is appreciated!
    Thanks!

    - Try restoring/DFU mode on another computer

  • Itouch 2nd generation+update ios 4= FROZEN

this is a brand new itouch..i plugged it in itunes it recognized it..it was fine until itunes opt to update to ios 4..28 mins to dwnld and now my itouch is completely frozen with the usb and itunes on screen..I did every trick of the trade; a hard reset and updating my windows and now my pc is asking for a driver software disk and itunes isn't picking up my itouch...sooo maybe I shouldn't have updated it in the first place..help!!

I realize that it is the constant upgraded technology that makes the previous obsolete. Even though the app developers may be to blame, I still blame Apple as a whole. I bought my iPod when it was new and now that they have something better, I feel they are doing a poor job at keeping customers with technology only made a couple years ago happy. Those who snicker at this now will understand in a year or so when the iPod Touch 6th generation comes out.
This can all be solved easily if they would just release something that would sort updates in the 'App Store' based on the generation of the iPod Touch being used by the user. (Hint, hint, Apple)
Since that's way to easy to solve, it probably won't happen. So this then begs the question:
(This is also the TL;DR part) Is there still no workaround? If not, is there some way I can trade in my old iPod Touch for a discount or something on a newer one? Because they have by no means lost a user. They have just made a user very unhappy at the moment.

  • Itouch won't update

Every time I try to update to iOS 5, it says that the network connection has timed out.
The internet is up and runnnng and I don't know what else to try.
I have an iTouch 4g and I'm using Windows 7

Try disabling the security software on the computer during the download and update.

  • IPod Touch/ iTouch won't update correctly to iOS 4.3.1

After syncing my iTouch, I attempted to update the software. After waiting, a message came up saying "Connection has been timed out", or something of that sort. I am currently on iOS ver. 4.2.1, and my iTouch is the 4th generation, aand have the latest version of iTunes. Any help?

    Hi mate,
I'm having exactly the same problem (I receive the same error msg as you). Have gone through the Apple help pages, run diagnostics (found no problems) and tried using a USB connection at the back of my computer as suggested, but I still can't update my iPod touch with the 4.3.1 software update. Really frustrating, as it's taking the fun off what should be a great product. Appreciate this doesn't help you but please do provide any updates, workarounds that work for you. Cheers

  • Itouch trashed from update- Apple shafts me on top of it all

Hey wonderful! The update crashed my Itouch. I spend all day trying to fix it. when it finally was up and running again all the apps were gone. I log in and re-download the apps only to find an email saying I have been CHARGED FOR DOWNLOADING APPS I ALREADY BOUGHT!!!! So is there something I can do about this or is this the time to say good bye to Apple products and services from here on out? I will not pay for these apps again and if this is the business model they are now following they will lose my business. And to think I was almost going to get one of their crappy laptops too.

Did you follow the following kb article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
    Re-download of apps are free.
If this did not resolve your problem you will need to contact the iTunes Store. You can do so here:

  • 3 WEEK old itouch will not update/restore!!!

I have a fairly new itouch.
As I was on itunes and apparently had an update for my itouch software i clicked this to update.
It then went into recovery mode and I cannot get this to restore now.
I have the latest version of itunes, i have restarted the laptop, i have followed lots of advice and nothing has worked!
    PLEASE could anyone help me?
The error half way through the restore is error code no 14. When I click more info it takes me to a page which describes my problem exactly but none of the advice works :'(
If I take this into Apple will they charge me to have it fixed even though this is their recognised problem???

As you are still under warranty, there should be no charges to fix your ipod.
Did you try to connect in recovery mode and see if you can restore it? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • ITouch cannot be updated because it was disconnected, also some extraordinarily long backup problems.

I have a 4th gen ipod touch and i've been having this problem for a while. I'm on 4.3.3 and I don't jailbreak, I buy all my apps etc, but whenever I sync, it won't properly do it. It will start the sync by backing up. Now, I don't actually have a single back up meaning this is technically my 'first' backup. I know that 'first' backups are supposed to take longer, but it either a) takes over 3 hours (i've left it on for this long then gave up) or b) will go through and just before completing, say that the ipod was disconnected and thus was unable to backup. Occasionally, it will go through with the backup when i right click on my iPod in iTunes and select 'back up' but when I go to check everything, including my preferences > devices > backups, nothing has changed. I don't have a single backup on that list, its white and bare.
I don't have a single backup because although I managed to get this iPod fine, new from the apple store and backup for the first time then, after a while it stopped properly syncing, aka this problem. I was then recommended by some random site that I can't recall to delete backups and backup for the 'first' time again. I've also tried clearing some apps to see if that was the problem, as well as emptying some of my photos, but although i've not cleared all the apps nor all the photos, it doesn't seem to make a difference.
When I try to update to 4.3.5, it will extract information, proceed to Back up (step 1 of 5) and somewhere in the backing up process my iPod Touch will reboot and the apple logo plus a loading logo (the white lines arranged in a circular motion, when things are 'loading') ontop will appear. From then on, regularily will my iPod Touch beep with a high pitched noise that I can't put my finger on, but is familiar, until the backup ultimately fails with the message "iTunes could not back up the iPod because it was disconnected."
I've tried different USB ports, I do NOT use a hub. It also does not sync songs as when I try to put more songs on my iPod, it requires to back up. I've also tried clicking the (x) to stop the backup but clicking it doesn't even do anything.
I've wanted to try to restore, but apparently I can't even do that because it TOO requires to back up right after restoration, it will fail the backup and revert my iPod to what it was before.
Please tell me that this is a problem I can fix easily, it's a fairly new iPod Touch.

  • Itouch 2.2 update doubt

I have an ipod touch, but the older version, and I have just tried for the first time to download an application, and a sign popped saying I must first download the 2.2 update. My doubt is, is this update for the old version of ipod touch or just for the new one?

for now, all updates work for both old and new.
