I haven't used my iPod touch 4g in a while and now it won't turn on or connect to my computer to charge. holding power+home isn't working either. i've had it plugged in for a while, but i'm pretty sure that's pointless if it won't even connect....help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

  • IPod Touch 2nd Gen Won't Turn On

A few days ago i did a system restore on my ipod touch. I did it on the ipod touch and at first it was going well. The loading bar showed and it loaded all the way and then the apple symbol popped up. Unfortunately, it has had the same apple symbol for 5 days. I Let the battery die, and it shows the empty battery symbol, but when i attempt to charge it, the apple symbol only shows. I tried plugging it into the computer, but computer won't recognize it. Tried restarting it a hundred times, doesn't work. I don't know how to fix this. I haven't called apple support yet, but that will be my last resort. anybody help?!?!?!!

    - After being connect to a charging source for half an hour, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so yu can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next see if DFU mode will allow a restore.

  • My ipod touch 5th gen won't turn on or reset and my computer won't recognise it. It's 1 day old and all I did was try to plug it into the speaker system

My ipod touch 5th generation was purchased brand new yesterday. After charging it and loading my music i went to plug it into my icoustic dock which I got as a bundle with the ipod only to have my ipod screen go blank and now it refuses to turn on, reset or get recognised by my computer or itunes. I have the latests software as it was only uploaded last night. Should I be taking it back to the shop? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HELP!!!!!! MY IPOD TOUCH WON'T TURN ON OR CONNECT TO THE COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!

boxa little bit of My ipod's backlight has been going off at random moments. If I locked it for a few moments then unlicked it then it would be fine, or sometimes I would have to charge it. Recently, when this happened, after locking it, it did not fix itself, so after locking it a second time, I tried to unlock it but nothing happened. I tried to charge it and nothing has worked. It doesn't even connect to my computer (Windows XP). It is a very old iPod touch. 2nd Gen, 8gb. iOS is I think less than 4, although it could be iOS 4.2.1 because it wouldn't let me update. It's been dropped quite a few times but that never really did much damage except for a dent in the outer shell. I had no case, it was my friend's old one, and I could not buy one because it was too outdated. The only liquid that has gotten on it is hairspray, and it was just  spray from when I was doing my hair. I don't know what to do, and I had no warranty, I don't have the origional box, and I don't have the reciept. Also, I do not want to have to send it in and pay any money, because I don't even have enough money to get a phone plan, and that comes first.

  • My iTouch 4th Gen won't turn on. It won't charge. I tried doing the "home" + "power/sleep" button. And before my itouch shuts off, it's battery power level is low.

My itouch won't turn on, i tried the "home" +  "power button and still no response from the itouch. also i know that my battery was low when it turned off. I tried charging it on my desktop or in my usb charger. still no response from my itouch. it is 4th Gen, it has the latest software and it is only two months old.

Try letting it charge for a little while longer.  Then try another hard reset.  Only this time hold those two buttons together anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute.  Any luck there?
Otherwise, see the Will not power on section of this Apple support document.

  • Ipod toch 2nd gen won't turn on?

    Hi there,
Probably a stupid question but my ipod touch (2nd gen 8gb) won't turn on all of a sudden.
I tunes doesn't see it and the screen is black, nothing doing at all.
I know it's probably the logic board or something but i thought i'd ask and see if anyone has a wnder fix!
    Thanks

Lithium-ion batteries, if left in a completely discharged state for an extended period, can become unable to hold a charge.  That 2nd gen shuffle has been sitting in its unopened box for about five or six years.  If that's the case here, it  operates fine while getting power from the USB port, and appears to charge, but it is unable to hold that charge when disconnected from power.  Therefore, nothing happens when you move the power switch.  Here is a document from Apple about batteries

You can try doing a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes, in case the problem is related to software.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Settings screen, when it is selected in iTunes.

  • Ipod Shuffle 2nd Gen won't turn on

    Hey,
Just recently found my mom's unused Ipod Shuffle 2nd Gen, sealed, not opened and still in the box. So i wanted to check it out see if it works, it connected to the computer just fine, put all the music on, charged fully and the green light was on while it was connected to the computer, the problem is as soon as i unplugged the ipod from the computer it wont respond the the on and off switch, its suppose to give out a green light when its on right? i dont see any.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is here?
    Thanks

  • IPod 2nd gen won't turn on!

My buddy of mine has been having trouble with his iPod.
The main thing is that it just doesn't turn on or respond when I plug it in while having it try to charge. It just doesn't work at all.
I tried pressing home & start button at the same time for a long time but it still won't turn on.
I believe its on the 4.1 iOS.
Iv'ed tried almost everything to try to fix it.It just won't turn on!Please I need help.

    There are two possiblities here.
Either; the iPod's battery is (was) fully drained and that's why it doesn't turn on. In this situation, once it's plugged into power, it will not show any signs of life, possibly for thirty minutes or so. When it does show life, it needs to be left on charge so that it has enough power to run once it's unplugged.
Or; the iPod is "stuck" doing something and cannot move on until it has finished. (I have no experience of this with my iPod Touch, but it has happened on my Classic.) This "stuck doing something" may mean that the iPod cannot turn the screen on to let you know what it's doing! So by plugging it into power, it has enough power to keep trying to finish what it cannot finish! (Are you still following this?) The solution in this case is to unplug the iPod and leave it alone until it has run out of power. Once that happens, the iPod cannot continue to "try and finish" the task - because it has no power. And when it does get power back, the very first thing it should do is set every switch, ciruit and thingy (a non-technical term, you will notice!) to a known condition, which means it should then work again.
*To summarise:* if leaving it on charge does nothing, leave it unplugged for a few days (so that the battery drains down fully) and then plug it in to power, wait, and see if it springs into life.

Ah yeah I guess I have no choice but to go into an Apple store, calling Apple support didn't help.

  • My ipod touch won't turn sideways and I already have unlocked the portrait orientation lock. Any suggestions?

I Really need a solution, and if you could tell me the cause, that would be awesome too.

Try this... Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen won't turn on.  It's fully charged, but it is stuck with a spinning wheel.

Occasionally it lights up (slowly, with a flash of bright light) to the apple screen, and then reverts to the wheel. I've tried pressing the home and power buttons for 20 seconds, which won't work.  It does connect to iTunes, and I'm trying to restore it at the moment, but it keeps saying "network connection timed out". (The operating system is iOS 5.1.1 because I haven't had the space on my iPod to update the software). Thanks for any help you can give!

  • My 4th gen Ipod Touch won't turn on/charge?

I have the 4th Gen Ipod touch. I was using it after it had been saying 20% battery remaining for awhile. I locked the screen, then I tryed to press the power button again to unlock it but it wouldn't work. I automatically assumed it had died completely so I tried plugging it in to charge. Even after letting it sit for a while it will not charge or turn on. I tried plugging it into a computer to charge as well, but my computer still wouldn't pick up on it. I tried the usual "hold down power button and home button at the same time for a few seconds" thing, but that was useless because my home button barely works. I cannot plug the ipod into a computer to restore it anyway, because my stuff isn't backed up and I am on iOS 4.something (as the original computer i had my iTunes on stopped working, so I havent been able to update it) so I will lose all my photos and music (I didn't purchase all my music from the itunes store). Does anybody have any suggestions? I tried calling Apple but Im out of warranty so they wouldn't help me, and theres only one Apple store in my state (and its nearly 4 hours away) so I'm basically screwed, right?
