Itouch 2nd gen wont go past apple logo

I have a 2nd gen itouch that wont go past apple logo. I did a reset and restore as suggested by some posts but still not working. Itunes can detect the ipod but I cannot do anything with it. Please help. many thanks.

- Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restore.  For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- Next try DFU mode.

  • MBP wont go past apple logo/ wont reinstall ML via OS X utility HELP!!

I recently upgraded to ML a few days again and my MBP appeared to be operating just fine, never had a single issue with this machine until now, my laptop was on sleep mode I simply entered my password and it froze kept spinning loading for a while I restarted it and this is where it started it just wont go past the apple logo it just spins, I tried booting up from my HD and Recovery HD i started disk utility  did verify disk, repair disk, it says my HD appears to be ok, but when I verify disk/repair it did give me some type of error message, I tried reinstalling ML via OS X utility  i accepted the terms put in my apple ID + password hit ok and  I get an error message saying close this application and try again I've done that a few times and it's just not working I also tried restarting while holding the command+S and I typed fsck -fy  it ran a few prompts and said HD appears to be ok... what do I need to do here? I didn't back up any of my files.....
    its a 2009 Model
    2.53 GHz
    250GB
    Thanks in Advance !

I have a similar problem, when I start my MacBook (I bought it early 2009 and runs Mountain Lion) it gives me the option to select the user but even when the cursor moves I am not able to select any user to go on. So I am not able to log in. And my DVD drive doesn't work (this problem is not new).
So if you find and answer, please let me know.
    Thanks and good luck.

  • My phone wont go past apple logo!!

I had my phone on the couch and i went away and came back, and realized that it was turned off, i tried to turn it back on but it wouldnt go past the apple logo, i went to AT&T and the tech said it had water damage, and the water sensor was pink, but i dunno how it got water damage sitting on the couch plugged into my laptop.. Is there anything i can do to fix it?? Even my laptop or iTunes cant pick it up. Any ideas?

Just go into DFU mode by pressing the sleep and the home button at the same time for about 10 seconds or until your screen is black and after you do that yo keep pressing the home button.
(Before you press anything connect iphone to computer with itunes open it wont recognize it until you are in DFU)
After you are in DFU; in itunes press restore(this will delete all your data)
    hope it works

  • My ipod classic wont progress past apple logo

I currently have an ipod classic 20gb, for quite some time it hasn't been working correctly, it just will not progress past the apple logo screen, I keep resetting it as per the trouble shooting, all I keep getting is, the folder with the ! mark by it saying www.apple.com/support, been onto there and its saying do the steps i've already done, i've literally tried everything, what would you surgest?
    thanks

Hopefully you have charged it for at least 2 hours.
I'm not too sure if this will work for your old model, which is earlier than 5th Gen.
Try the DiskDiagnostic as posted by tt2, once you get the Apple logo screen, move your finger on the Menu button to the rewind button |<<

Anyway, it is  a troubleshooting step and does not fix your problem.

  • Froze and wont go past apple logo

ok my sister got her ipod mini from her friend last july, and it has worked fine until like a couple days ago and she just got like 500 new songs, and now whenever she trys to turn it on, it doesnt go past the apple logo, and i tried reseting it for her but her ipod mini just doesnt want to work, what is wrong with her ipod?

    See these.
iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
Only the Apple logo appears when turned on.

  • 2nd Gen Touch Hangs with Apple Logo & Status Indicator During Restore

Something is wrong with my ipod. It will not work at all or even boot up. I can get it to quit displaying the apple logo by following instructions to do a restore. In iTunes, i get a message saying it detected my ipod in restore mode and to click to begin. After I click, it runs thru some unpacking of software, and preparing my ipod. At this time, my ipod disappears from the left column in iTunes, the screen on my ipod turns white, then i get the apple logo, then an apple logo with a circular "working" indicator, then the apple logo with a blank progress bar. iTunes says its waiting for ipod. The status indicator on the ipod never moves even after hours of waiting. It hangs up in the same place in the process every time... about a dozen times.
    What is wrong?

I've been griping... but i kind of have a reason to gripe. What I have also been doing is providing additional information about my quest for getting this thing working: the things i've tried, the stages i've gotten past, and where it still hangs up. I was hoping that by providing some additional information, it might actually ring a bell with one of you Apple pros, because I'm sure you've heard it all, and seen it all. If the thing is broken, just tell me. That's all I want to know at this point. But since I get slightly different results depending on what i do, and what firmware version I use, I figured it must be fixable, and that someone knows how to do it... even if that advice is to take it in somewhere... or if I can mail it in.
So I get it. You gota pay for someone from actual Apple. And no one is gona tell me its broken on this forum cuz its bad for Apple business, and you guys will lose brownie points or something.
RIP OFF. This was my first ever Apple purchase... and it is my last, unless someone wants to go out on a limb and tell me what's up with this thing. I have a CD player from 1989 that cost half as much, was under water twice, and still works, and actually sounds better. It's not so easy to mow the yard while listening to it, but thats about it.

  • Wont boot past apple logo and no spinning wheel

My macbook a1181 wont go into safe mode and wont boot from cd. The hard drive is working perfectly in my other macbook but wont boot in this one. The only thing it will do is go to the apple screen and there is no spinning wheel under the apple.

Which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.

  • F apple! why isnt At Bat 12 avalible on itouch 2nd gen

its not fair that i bought my product knowing i can get access to mlb highlights and march madness only for apple to decide im not giving them enough business and make my itouch 2nd gen that i spent 260 dollars on "not capable" of having at bat and ncaa march madness on it! *** there is no reason at bat cant function on an itouch 2nd gen as it has in the past
    <Edited by Host>

That is likely beause the developer deceided to drop suport for the 2G iPod, not an Apple decision.

  • Wont tune on past apple logo and wont update due to password?

hi, i am trying to fix my sisters Iphone (i have never any hassle with mine) anyways, it wont turn on past apple logo, i have followed steps on here to update software and it downloads ok but when it trys to flash it to phone it says could not connect to IPhone as it is protected by a passwork, please enter password on screen of pone but on the screen it still only show apple logo with loading symbol but wont go past it? has the phone passed its sell by date?

Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click Restore button of iTunes.

  • Itouch 2nd gen not functioning

I still have the itouch 2nd gen .
its not working properly , it doesnt let me slide to unlock it everytime and it doens sensor your finger at all .
and i cant download any app anymore

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    CAUTION
Before you restore the iPod make sure that your iTunes library has the version of apps that are presently installed on your iPod. Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them to your iTunes library. See:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

As i was using my itouch(2nd gen)there was a sudden and drastic increase in temperature on the rear portion(metal portion) and since then it is not working.Has anyone come across a similar problem?Any Suggestions?

Sounds to me like the battery has failed.
You can take it to an Apple Store.  They MAY be able to do something..  Or, you can find parts and "How-To" repair guides on the internet.  eBay and Google are your friends...

  • My ipod nano 2nd gen is showing the apple?support sceen...What do i do?

my ipod nano 2nd gen is showing the apple?support sceen...What do i do?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
