  • Ipod Nano 4th Gen not recognised in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Itunes and screen blank

    Hello,
I have a quite old (3-4 years old) iPod Nano 4th Gen.
The screen is blank, which means it needs charging. When I plug it into my laptop/computer then it doesn't show up which im assuming is because it needs charging.
When I plug it into my plug charger (plugged into a wall) nothing happens.
I think this is because the cables (I have 3- 2 computer USB cables and one plug charger cable) being too lose and not connecting to the iPhone fully.
I have looked at all the articles, I have done the R's, I have tried to restore it, I have pressed the clickwheel and centre button together and I have toggled the hold switch.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated! (And please save the "take it to apple support" etc... comments for if you can't think of anything else- not being rude but I know this)
    Thanks

Hey, I hear ya and can sympathize. I have the same
issue. The difference is that my computer can "see"
    my ipod but it refuses to show up in itunes itself;
therefore, I can't put anything on the ipod (from the
computer) and vice-versa. Apple support is clueless.
This is very frustrating to say the least. Itunes
keeps telling me that my ipod is synced to a
"different" computer, which isn't true. It's the
same computer. The difference is that when I first
got the 'pod and used it with this computer (and
everything worked fine), I was running XP. I
installed Vista and after that, all the problems
started. If I ever get this resolved, believe me,
    I'll post something here.
I'm guessing that somehow, itunes "sees" what
computer it's hooked to by "looking" at something in
the OS. Change the OS and it "thinks" it's seeing a
    "different" computer.
    Try reformatting it.

  • IPod shuffle 2nd Gen not appearing in Windows Vista

    Dear All:
I have a 2nd Gen shuffle that will not show up in iTunes or Windows on a Vista Home Basic machine. Vista finds an unrecognized USB device and cannot find a driver. The orange light on the shuffle blinks, and the Vista device manager keeps detecting an unknown USB device, but it goes no further. I am not receiving the "-50" error; the shuffle never shows up in either Vista or iTunes.
I have contacted Apple tech support and searched these forums with no results.
    I have also:
-Run a different iPod (30GB video) on the same Vista computer. The 30GB video iPod works fine.
-Run the iTunes diagnostics on the same Vista computer on both the 30GB video (30GB iPod works fine) and the shuffle (shuffle not detected).
-Reinstalled iTunes from scratch on the Vista computer (3 different times) as described in
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305042
    shuffle not detected.
-Restarted the iPod service on the Vista computer as suggested by
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
    shuffle not detected.
-Reset the shuffle and plugged back into the same Vista computer. shuffle not detected.
-Tested on a different USB port on the same Vista computer. shuffle not detected.
-Tested on a MacBook Pro in the same shuffle cradle. shuffle works fine.
-Tested on a Windows XP box in a different cradle. shuffle works fine.
-Searched the mother board manufacturer for updated Vista drivers. None available.
Is there another step that I am missing, or is iTunes, the iPod service, and Vista just not talking on this particular computer?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello everyone
I have been unable to use itunes for a good while now because my computer will not recognise my ipod touch. My laptop makes a noise like it is configuring when I plug my ipod into it but then absolutely nothing happens. I am completely out of solutions, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd Gen- Not Recognised by Windows 8.1 Laptop

    Hi All,
I have HP Laptop with .... Windows 8.1 / 4gb RAM / Intel i3 / 64-bit, i am trying to connect my Ipod shuffle  (2nd gen) to laptop but its failed in Itunes (i got updated one) as well as in Windows..
at the same time, the same ipod i can connect and use at windows XP computer.
is anyone there to help me out.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Rahul

Unfortunately, I use a Mac; I'm not a day-to-day Windows user...  When you connect your USB flash drive, it should appear as a device in a Windows view, like the one you provided as a screenshot.  When you connect your shuffle, if things are working normally, the shuffle should similarly appears as a device.  Whether it is recognized as an iPod or not, it should appear as a device.  If it does not, that means the USB (3.0) port (on your laptop) does not see that you have connected the shuffle.  If it does (appear in Windows), that's good news.  You may be able to trouble-shoot and fix the problem, using this document
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes - Apple Support
I suggested trying a self-powered USB 2.0 hub (if you have one), because the hub should be recognized as a device by Windows.  In the screenshot, it looks like there are two hubs already connected ("Generic USB Hub"), unless that is something internal that is identified as a "hub."  If a hub is older and works with the shuffle, then your laptop may be able to connect to the shuffle through the hub.
Here are two other things you can try.
    (1) You said the shuffle still works with your older PC.  Connect it to iTunes on that computer, and go to the shuffle's Settings screen (select shuffle in iTunes).  There is a checkbox for Enable disk use.  Check that box and Apply.  With this setting enabled, the shuffle acts like a USB flash drive (to Windows).  Maybe that will let Windows see it, and then iTunes will also see it (as an iPod).  NOTE:  When disk use is enabled, you need to Eject the iPod in iTunes before physically disconnecting it, because the iPod's disk is continuously mounted by the system.
    (2) If the above does not help, connect it to iTunes on the older PC, and do a Restore on the shuffle.  This will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
It's a long shot, but maybe there is some kind of odd data corruption on the shuffle's storage that is causing the laptop to not see it (even though the old PC can see it fine).  After doing the Restore on the older PC, connect it to the laptop.

  • Burnt ISO image not recognised by Windows Vista

Can somebody please help me with my ISO problem.
I have some windows software stored as an ISO file. I've burnt the file to a DVD using Magic ISO and according to magic ISO the burn completed fine. If I then view the contents of the DVD using OS X then it looks as I'd expect, as a DVD containing windows software including the autorun file.
However whenever I boot up my virtual Windows Vista maching via Parallels desktop and then insert the disk, Vista informs me that the disk is blank and if I view the contents of the DVD using windows explorer then again the disk is Blank.
I've tried burning the ISO image 3 times, twice with Magic ISO and once with some free ISO shareware (I forget the name) each time the burn is successful and OS X recognises it but Windows thinks the DVD is blank. I've also tried the disk on a friends PC running XP and the disk appears blank there also.
This problem is driving me crazy, any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Good morning,
What type of disc are you trying to burn, data or movie?
If you already have an ISO you might consider using Disk Utility to make your DVD, it has rarely failed me! You can do this by going to Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility, drag and drop the ISO onto a blank area of the left hand panel and then select the image and 'Burn' from the top left icon.
    Hope this helps! 

  • New iPod Classic not recognised by Windows 8.1 or latest iTunes

I have a brand new iPod classic and have just made several playlists on iTunes.
As a sidenote, I am due to have a baby in one week and bought the iPod just for the hospital stay so I am getting extremely frustrated!
My computer is running Windows 8.1and recognises my iPhone and iPad Air but will not connect the iPod Classic.
When plugged in, it makes that little musical sound to say an item has been connected then nothing.
It does not register in 'My Computer' or on iTunes.
The iPod says "Connected. Eject before disconnecting". I don't get the iPod sad face or the exclamatuion mark.
I have reinstalled iTunes, the one time it registered the iPod was when I plugged in the iPad Air (iPod was no longer plugged in) and wanted me to restore the iPod, which it was still attempting to do 7 hours later (I did plug the iPod back in for this)!
Any suggestions would be super as I have now spent about 5 hours more on this than I would have liked to and about 10 hours more on this than I should have.
    Thanks

  • ITouch 3rd Gen 64GB(3.1.3) won't sync using iTunes 9.2. Unknown error (-20)

I downloaded and isntalled iTunes 9.2 on my laptop from the apple site and updated my entire music library (25GB) to it. Connected my iTouch and it recognised it without a hitch along with all the installed apps and the music which was already there (which I had synced from my cousin's laptop without a hitch. I had anticipated deleting all this music so as to be able to put mine, no problem. But as soon as i start the sync the display bar goes to about 50% and gets stuck and after a few minutes displays 2 dialogs with one saying 'unable to connect to iPod disk unkown error(-20).
What am I doing wrong/ what's happening here and how do I fix this?
    Steps I've already taken:
    1. Restored iTouch to factory settings through the iTouch itself so all the downloaded apps and music is already deleted. Fresh start didn't help.
    2. Repaired and reinstalled iTunes but the error stays the same.

    SOLVED (somewhat)
The problem is with iTunes 9.2 only. I just succesfully synced my pod on my mom's laptop using iTunes 9.0 .
Apple had better come out with a fix for this cuz I'm not allowed to install iTunes 9.0 on m computer becase it gives an error saying theres a file created by a newer iTunes. So. I still need iTunes 9.2 to work or a later upgrade which works.APPLE ARE YOU LISTENING?

  • HT1923 ipod touch not recgonized by windows 7 but does in itunes

Windows 7 64bit does not recgonize iPod touch 5th generation but it does show up in iTunes. If I check "computer" it isn't there and I don't get that little usb thing in my taskbar. What gives? I also have a Nano 7th generation installed on iTunes too.The nano shows up in windows and iTunes. Is there some conflict with two iPod's running together on one computer, not running together just seperate? They both work in iTunes but only the iPod touch doesn't show up in windows.

try a different usb port and cable.  try to unplug all other usb drives.  update itunes to 11.0.5.  restart the pc. temporarily disable firewall and all security software.  if still not resolved completely remove itunes and apple software search HT1923 at apple.com/support
    next download itunes at itunes.com

  • IPhone not recognised in My Computer, but is in itunes

About a week ago my iPhone just stopped being recognised in My Computer. Before this it was fine, it would recognise and I could move ohotos from my phone to an external hardrive. All of a sudden its not showing up there though?
It is recognised in iTunes and charges when attached. It even has the 'beep' sound it usually does when it is recognised.
I have tried a different cable, different usb port, enablibng and reabling the driver as per Apple site.
I have the latest updates on iTunes and my iPhone 4.
I tried it on an old computer I have and it is recognised there and I can transfer photos on that for now until I can get this issue sorted.
    Any ideas?

I have the same problem too. My phone wont show on my pc that's why I can't move my photos. But it does show on itunes.
Then I went to device manager and this is what I found. I dont know what to do though.

  • My iPhone 4 is not recognized by Windows 7 but syncs with iTunes.

Driver fails to load. Device manager considers my iPhone a MTP USB.
I have deleted and re-installed iTunes with no resolution.
I have read several strings regarding Autoplay. Nothing seems to work.

See this tip: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. If you didn't use all of these steps to remove and reinstall iTunes you should do it this way. Note that the installation requires Administrator privileges to remove and install.
Also, if you are using a USB hub for the iPhone connection, try a USB port directly on the computer.
