Itouch apps appear on computer screen greyed out

When I plug my iTouch (4) into my (newly upgraded) iTunes program and click on "my iTouch" it shows the apps on the iTouch but they're greyed out and I have no access to them. The only option I had was to download new copies of my apps from the iTunes store directly onto the iTouch.
Why can't I control the iTouch apps from my computer?

I forgot to say that I just upgraded the iTouch to ver 4.something (the newest) and the Itunes to the newest version (10 something). Hopefully I won't have to go back to an older version to 'fix' this.

  • Since installing yosemite my computer/screen blacks out, but still running

Since installing yosemite last week, my computer/screen blacks out, but still running. I have since rebooted everything, started from scratch and utilizing my external drive transferred all files/apps back. Did not help, in fact it is getting worse. Computer screen blacks out every 5 min or so and have to power up again. Also, continue to get Java message updates even after all have been updated over and over again. Any suggestions? Thanks!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • MBP to TV using a cable - TV screen greys out after 10-15 mins

Hi there, I am looking for some assistance to solve the following issue that I cannot seem to resolve,
I have my Macbook Pro (OS 10.8.5) hooked up to my 42' Philips TV (Model 42PFL560AH) using Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable. I then go to displays settings on my Mac and mirror displays and I then have audio and video on the TV and everything is working fine.
The problem I have is if I stream video from the web, the TV screen  'greys out' every 10-15 mins or so and I then have to go to my display settings on my Macbook Pro and change the refresh rate. I change between PAL & NTSC or visa versa and I am then good for another 10-15mins.
I do not know if this problem is Mac or TV model related.
Any help or suggestion is appreciated as this is doing my head in.
    Regards,
    Celtictiger

Soundls like it is working. Try dragging a window on the MBP to the edge of the screen and see if it appears on the TV.
There are two ways to set up the TV one is to mirror the MBP display and the other is to be an extension of the MBP's screen.
You change the settings in System Preference->Display

  • IMac (Early 2008 Model) Screen Greys Out And Then Must Reboot

The iMac that we bought back in the summer of 2008 has been having issues over the past couple days. I was using Safari yesterday and then a grey "box" filled the screen and then told me to shut down the computer (by holding down the power button) and then restart it. I did that and I was back on my way. Then a few other people used the iMac (on their own accounts using Safari and iMovie) and had no problems. Just an hour ago I was exporting a video in iMovie and was using Safari at the same tiime and the screen greyed out again. I restarted it and this time I got 3 beeps with a 5 second pause in between over and over again while the screen was black. I held down the power button and it turned off; I waited a few minutes and turned it back on and now its working again. Any idea what's going on? I upgraded the RAM and upgraded to Lion last month. I have not reset the PRAM yet, I would like to know what the problem is and why this keeps randomly happening to what seems to only be my user account.

I've looked at that, I did try to link the discussion to the article but it failed too   Thank you though.
I just created an Ubuntu DVD to run - the graphics are distorted on that too so I'm guessing it's a fault with the graphics card.  I don't have the knowledge to confirm/deny it so a trip to an Apple Store is probably in order?

  • Grey App Icon Appears.  Reboot and apps appear on different screens

I've noticed a strange thing happening on my home screen.  Sometimes, and it seems when apps are automatically being updated, a gray app icon with a circle and an 'x' appears on my home screen.  It will not go away and you cannot select it.
My home screen consists of 14 app icons, the rest of the screen is empty.  I do this to declutter my home screen.
When I reboot my phone, the grey icon is gone, but it fills up my home screen with other app icons from a different page.  When I move them back over to the second page so that only 14 apps appear again and the rest is empty space, I reboot my phone again, and it fills up the home page with more apps (different ones).
Is anybody else experiencing this issue?  I tried to take a screen print of the grey icon to post here on my iphone, but when I looked at the photo, it wasn't there (very strange).
What does this grey app icon represent?
Is this a bug in the software?

  • How do I make previously downloaded apps appear on the screen? Now, I have to open them in the App Store.

I just upgraded to iOS 7. My downloaded apps no longer appear on the screen; I have to open them from wihtin the App Store. How do I get them out of there? The only option I see when I call them up in the App Store is "open."
    Thanks.

Did you update your iOS via iTunes and the computer? If so, did you transfer purchases? Your Apps that were purchased via the App store on the phone should still be on the phone. Have you checked all of the home pages? Try a reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, see if they are back. If they are on the computer, you can also connect to iTunes and sync them back.

  • Can't delete old apps from iTunes. 'Delete' greyed out

I would like to delete a number of old apps from my iTunes.  However, when I go to the 'Apps' tab and highlight the app it doesn't delete.  Also, when I go into 'Edit', the 'Delete' button is greyed out.  I have tried logging out of my iTunes account and logging back in, switching the computer on and off and also by trying with both plugging in both my iPhone and iPad.  Nothing works!  I would much appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks.

    Hi bickyk,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below explains how to delete apps from your Mac, iPhone or iPad.  On your Mac, you should be able to click on the app to select it, and then press Delete on your keyboard.
If for some reason you are not able to delete the app from your computer, you can hide it instead.  Click on the link below for complete details.  I've highlighted the key points for you.
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5772
You can delete items that you bought from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store from your iOS device, Mac, or PC. Because Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) plays content from the cloud, you don't need to delete items from your Apple TV.
Before you delete an item, make sure you can download it again. If you can't or need to pay to download it again, back up the item before you delete it.
After you delete an item, it might still be visible if you can download it again from iTunes in the Cloud. The Download  icon will appear next to these items. You can hide items available in iCloud and purchases from the Mac App Store.
    Apps
Open the section below for the device you're using.
    iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Tap and hold the app you want to delete.
The apps will begin to jiggle.
Tap the X on the app.
    Mac or PC
    Open iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Apps.
Click the app you want to delete.
    Press Delete on your keyboard.
Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4928
    Hide your purchases
If you hide an item you purchased in the Mac App Store, you won't get update notifications for it, and you won't see it on your Purchases page. If you're using Family Sharing, hidden items will also be hidden from your family members.
Use these steps on OS X Mountain Lion or later:
    Open the Mac App Store.
Choose Store > Sign In, then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
Right-click the item that you want to hide and choose Hide Purchase. A prompt will ask if you're sure that you want to hide the item.
Click the Hide Purchase button. The item will fade. The item below it, if there is one, will replace it in the list.
Use these steps on OS X Lion:
    Open the Mac App Store.
Choose Store > Sign In, then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
Locate the item that you want to hide.
Click the X to the right of that item. The item will fade. The item below it, if there is one, will replace it in the list.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Moving purchased itouch apps back to computer?

I have Windows Vista. Recently, it crashed and I had to restore it back to factory settings, wiping out the hard drive.
I have some PURCHASED apps on my itouch, and I certainly don't want to have to pay for some of these again. Is there any way, when I plug my itouch back into my computer, that I can transfer these apps back?

  • App Updates Stuck.  Icons Greyed Out.

I'm experiencing this issue now on my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4.  My symptoms:
    - When I choose to update an app, the update download wheel spins for 1-2 seconds and then reverts back to the "update" or "download from iCloud" icons.  The app becomes greyed out and gets stuck on "Waiting".  The app is now a one legged man in a butt kicking contest.  Totally useless.
    - I cannot delete the apps with a long press/jiggle.
    - I CAN delete them through the Settings>General>Usage area.  This leaves a strange greyed out blueprint-y icon (this one actually: http://www.pixelresort.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/mygrid.png) that can then be deleted.  After deleting it, the app cannot be re-downloaded.  In fact, no new apps can be downloaded.  New apps only appear as that greyed out blueprint-y icon.
    - I have 1.0 GB available, so it is not a storage issue.
    - I have tried it on numerous wifi networks, so it is not a wifi issue.
    - I have no active downloads in my iTunes app.
    - I have tried numerous combinations of signing out of iTunes, hard resets, soft resets, deleting apps, ad infinitum...  The only thing I haven't done is plug it into my MB Pro.
I really wish I wouldn't have tried to upgrade my podcasts app.  It has killed my commutes.
This is the 2nd major issue I've had since updating to iOS7 (the wifi bug got me for over a month until I toggled my way out of it).  The whole thing has really shaken my confidence in all of my Apple products.  Help!

Fixed it.  I think it may have been a bug related to the Podcasts app.
    1) Backed up and restored from my MBP
    2) Started updating apps -- all seemed to work except the Podcasts app.
    3) Once I tried to update the podcasts app, the app store started getting buggy again with downloads.
    4) Deleted the podcasts app -- it actually let me!
    5) Re-restored the phone due to buggy-ness
    6) Did a clean download of the Podcasts app and haven't had a problem.
I have not turned on the "sync my podcasts" feature...too afraid.  I'm just hoping to limp into my next upgrade with no more issues.
The iPhone 5 has been the first Apple product to give me such issues...and they've all started after iOS7.  Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come.

    Hi ,
    You can opt for SAML.

  • Why is ask to share someone screen greyed out when on yosemite, sometimes it is greyed out, other times it's not

can someone tell me when I try to screen share and ask if she will let me see her screen, the option to ask to screen share is greyed out.  The weird thing, is, is sometimes, it's greyed out, and sometimes it's black.  Can not figure out why that would be.  Tried same thing with my Bro and the option was not greyed out.
Is there a glitch or what when its inconsistent about the option to ask to share their screen.

The quick answer is that certain Back to My Mac features are not working well in Yosemite.
Read some of the following to determine if there is anything you can do about it, otherwise we will just have to wait for Apple to fix it:
Setting up and using Back to My Mac with an AirPort base station or Time Capsule
OS X Yosemite: Share your screen using Back to My Mac

  • Apps in iTunes window are greyed out

When I sync my iPhone 4S, and I select my particular phone in iTunes, then open the Apps window, my apps are greyed out and I can't manage them, e.g. adding, deleting, repaging, etc. I used to be able to do it with ease. And then it stopped. Could it have anything to with the Cloud? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Mike,
According to your description, the error occurred when accessing app in SharePoint Store.
Did this issue occur in other sites?
I recommend to configure the farm to allow internet-facing end points, and turning on the Internet-facing endpoints feature in Central Administration will show the apps in the SharePoint Store.

  • Premier pro capture screen greyed out

I have been accustomed to using my Canon HDV 1080i for shooting video footage on tape and downloading to hard drive using Premier Pro capture.
I have recently had a new laptop and cannot get it set up as before. Probably there is some vital step I have forgotten, so would be very grateful for any help.
Here is what I have done
Installed Creative Suite CS3 Master edition onto my 64 bit windows HP laptop (very similar spec as before), and validated the licence etc
Connected the camcorder to the laptop with a firewire cable (cable firmly seated both ends - same cable as I used before)
Created a new project in Premier Pro
Powered on the camcorder and set to "play" (as opposed to "camera/record")
When I did this the first time I got the expected message to say the Canon device driver was being installed.
Selected "capture" from the Premier Pro menu
The capture window comes up, but here is the problem - all the controls are greyed out. I would have expected to be able to select "record" and/or to see the footage playing in the capture preview screen when I press play on the camera. But nothing.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please?
    Thanks very much.
