ITouch Classic firmware upgrade - I now have a dead iTouch, help!

Tried to upgrade the OS etc at recommended by iTunes but whole thing died. Rang Apple support and tried their solution (below) but didnt even get any life on the iTouch. Any suggestions?

Apple suggested
- create new macbook account with new iTunes download
- log off/on
- into iTunes, connect USB cable (but not to iTouch)
- hold iTouch top button down till it turns off (already off, didnt do anything!)
- hold bottom button and plug in cable
at this point Apple said it would go into recovery mode but I just got Error 11, log as follows:

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost      
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings                            
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:                                               
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes      
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.                       
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    I made the mistake of doing the firmware flash while the MBP was docked. I don't thing it was successful although it shows the right number. My startup time is about two minutes which is unusual as it used to be super fast (using an SSD). Any ideas?

    Very sorry it took so long to get back, I have tiger,leopard,snow leopard and lion still on the machine although i can't seem to find exactly where. I am sure that I don't need them all and they are just taking up disc space as it where. I thought that it would be good to clear some out but it is never a good idea to delete OS's when you are not sure what you are doing.  thanks

  • 6220 Classic Firmware upgrade - stuck / any ideas ...

    Am trying to use Nokia Software Updates to do a firmware upgrade to my 6220 Classic from v 03.06 to v 03.46.
    All going smoothly until the stage when the updater tells me : Updating the Software, please wait... Estimated time left : 15 mins.
    This has now been reading like this for about half an hour - clearly it's stuck.
    Any ideas ? Lots of grim warning about "Don't disconnect etc etc".

    I ended up solving this myself simply through persisting. Dull and clunky process, but I ended up ignoring the "do not disconnect..." warnings. disconnecting it, and starting all over again.
    Strangely, and I hope it's different for you, I now have a phone that confirms that it has the new firmware loaded up, but I see no discernible difference in performance, battery life etc etc. Close to a waste of time, if Nokia cares (which I don't think it does).

  • 6500 classic firmware upgrade

    Hi,
    I've tried to upgrade the firmware of my nokia 6500 classic phone with the help of the installed Nokia Software Updater(v.1.4.70en) but it shows there's no new update available (Current ver.: 3.21, Update ver.: 3.21)
    I'd checked the "Can I update" section in nokia site beforehand and found the latest available software for nokia 6500 classic version number of which is 06.61.
    There is any way to get Nokia Software Updater to recognise a newer version of firmware.

    is it a provider issued phone? if it is, it is possible that your provider had not approved yet of the latest firmware version, so you may have to wait or contact your provider. sometimes a provider may unlock your phone so that you could get the latest firmware but there is no guarantee and it is always the providers call what they are willing to do

  • Upgraded one iPad to 8.1 about 10 days ago since then have to restart wireless hub each day to use, other iPad on previous os no problem until upgraded yesterday now have the same problem although both devices show wireless connection.

    we have two iPads (ipad2 and an iPad mini). The ipad 2 was upgraded to os 8.1 about 10 days ago, since then I have to restart my wireless hub every day to use the ipad. I have however been able to use the iPad mini running on the previous os without any problem. Last night I upgraded the mini to os 8.1 and this now suffers the same problem. Both iPads display a strong wireless signal to my hub but don't want to seem to connect.  I have had BT check my broadband connection and they found no problem, whatever is causing it has happened since upgrading from 8.0.2 to 8.1

    Do you have an updated version for your AirPort?

  • Upgraded and now have lost songs

    I upgraded my intunes and now only the purchased songs show up. All the songs I imported from cds show as lost links and I cannot locate them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    The same thing just happened to me. The computer restarts and I'm given the option of chosing "previous Itunes Library" so I clicked on one and now all my 577 songs are gone and I have just the ones I purchased. It synched my Iphone none of my CDs that I imported are there.

    Totally jerky and almost unusable from Youtube.
    Playback was fine till I upgraded to Firefox 4.

    everything is updated and the problem still persists.
    It's not download speed, it is playback speed.
    Safari still works normally and gives smooth video playback.

    I was prompted to upgrade my library when I tried to open aperature, so I did.  Now there are no images in it.  Is it still updating? Please help.

    I have a similar issue - though i apologise if im hikjackin gtyour thread. Upgraded both iphoto and aperture to enable the library sharing. opened each library with the updated apps then merged the 2 libraries. All ok but as of yesterday aperture opens and no images show except for a preview image when highlighting "Projects". Also a load of new phantom projects have been creted with name 14 july 2012, the date of the merge or upgrade i think.
    Ive completed the 3 steps in aperture library first aid to no avail.

    You have done everything correctly so far. Try charging again with the wall charger for at least 30 minutes. Maybe the iPhone will turn on itself. If not then try the Reset again, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone restarts, keep holding for at least 30 seconds if necessary. If still nothing, make appointment with Apple Genius and have them fix or replace your iPhone under Warranty coverage.

  • Syncing on new PC and I now have a new iPhone, help!!

    The issue I have is that the iPhone 3GS I use at the moment was first synced on an old PC.  That PC died and I have been syncing to a new PC.  However, when connect to iTunes, it will keep a copy of any new Apps and updates. It will also update the iSO software. However, If I click on my phone (listed on the left side of the iTunes screen and then choose movies or music etc..  The sync option brings up a window saying that the phone was not synced to this PC. to do so will remove all data from my phone. 
    Is there anything I can do?  I still have the old hard drive that I could link to my new PC and get off any itunes files?  Will that help? 
    The other issue I have is that I have just upgraded my phone contract as was able to get a new iPhone 4s .  I want to give my old 3gs to my wife.  Is it as simple as taking out my old sim card and putting hers in?   Also, how will itune behave if I not have two iphones syncing to the same PC?

    Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
    Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
    Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
    When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
    Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
    Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

    As for the second phone, iTunes will recognize each device as a separate phones and remember all settings for each one.
    Switching the SIM will work if your phone is not locked to a provider anymore and your wife has a dataplan as well. If the phone is officially unlocked by your provider, she can use it with her SIM, but make sure to set up a dataplan for the phone, using mobile data without a contract can be very expensive.
    To prevent from mixing the contacts and events for each one, you can create a new Windows user.

    Try disabling the computer's security software during the download and update.

    I hated itunes version 11...found another couple postings that told how to uninstall it and reinstall 10.7 on my Windows 7.  Tried to follow them...didn't work.  It opened the old version, but only found a few songs in my computer.  Most of my songs are in an external Lacie hard drive.  So...I uninstalled and tried to reload the version 11 again.  That gave me the same results...just a few songs in the library!  Help!!  I obviously am very clueless and if it sounds like I know what I'm talking about with any of this....I really don't.  Keep it as simple as you can?  Thank you so much in advance!!

    It helps to include links to the instructions you followed.  I don't know if they are the same as the ones I have.
