Itouch/iphone 2.0 software music, vid and photo resume problem

Hi all,
Not sure whether anyone else is getting the same problem or not but I seem to have problems resuming after I installed the 2.0 software upgrade.
For example if I am listening to music and I watch a video then return to listening music, the music does not resume from the last one I was playing. Instead it just goes back to my Song List. And same in reverse. If I was watching a movie halfway and then go back to the video list all it shows is the top of the list. In the old 1.1.4 software it used to go back to the same position on the list as I was previously at.
This issue also happens with Photos. For example if I was viewing a picture in the Photos page and then go to another option such as Music, Video etc. When I return to the Photo page all it does is go back to my Albums and not the last picture I was viewing.
This issue never happened with the old software and it is really frustrating when I watch a video and then try to listen the previous song I listened to but instead it just goes back to the default page.
I have just played around with it and it seems ok when I try to view photos when I am listening to music. When I go back to the music it still resumes from the current song I am listening to.
But it still does not do it when I listen to music, then watch video. Like I said, it just goes back to the Song List which means that I have to search again for the song that I was last playing and play that. And that also means that I have to start my playlist again from the start and it reshuffles again.
Is this how it's meant to be from now on? Or just a bug?
Please fix this as this is a really annoying problem when I try to resume the previous song I am listening to.
Thanks.

I am also experiencing the same issues, is there any fix or setting I can alter so that it doesn't reset my music playlist when I watch a video?

    I'm also having this problem
I believe that it should behave this way - the "remember playback position" should be enabled by default and then removed if necessary.
Why would they disable this feature? it doesn't make sense, for any reason.
    It can't be a resources issue - it's not really a multi-tasking device.
"remember playback position".. did NOT fix the problem - music still wont resume "where left off" even though i have selected the "remember playback position"..
it just plays the tracks that have already been played, and then skipped, from the position they were at before they were skipped - which is how THAT feature is meant to work.
so.. no, this is not the way the Touch is meant to work - they broke it with the
2.1 update - otherwise why would it have functioned that way up until the update?? Please restore this function?!
If you're watching these forums, Apple Support People - please include this as a bug report?? there doesn't seem to be a way to submit bug reports for iPods, only for iTunes itself - which doesn't make sense.. a 'free' product gets support and feedback options, whereas a product i have paid good money for does not!!

  • How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?

How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?  It says I don't have enough room to upgrade so I have deleted some of everything but do not see an improvement in my storage space. Help?

    No need to empty anything.
You can update by connecting your phone to iTunes on your computer. This way you bypass the space limitations.
    Good Luck

If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I download onto my new iPhone 6, just my music playlists and not my entire library? I have over 100 playlists and even more music not in playlists and I don't want to download all of it to my phone.

First read this: FAQ: Why iTunes Match Can Not Be Used as a Backup
So, before you sell your Mac make sure all your personal data is backed up to an external HDD then put that HDD in a safe place. When you return you will be able to use it to restore your data to the new Mac.
Before you sell your computer you must restore the original version OS X that was installed on it when you bought it. See this Apple KB article for how to prepare your Mac for sale: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5189.

I guess not? Might i have to jailbreak?

  • How do I find out which computer I sync music, videos and photos on?

I am about to update my iPhone to iOS 4.2 but it tells me that to preserve my media, I should apply this update on "the computer where you sync music, videos and photos". How do I find out what that computer is?

You should be regularly backing up then you can just move your library to a new computer and sync there.
If you don't have one then you will have to transfer purchases (grab a 3rd party program for non-purchased content) and then sync to the new computer

  • My start up disc is full i have a macbook air, i back everuthing up with time capsule and  have movies all my music libraries and photos onto that too so as i have free space, but my max still says my startup disc is full with "other"

my start up disc is full i have a macbook air, i back everuthing up with time capsule and  have movies all my music libraries and photos onto that too so as i have free space, but my max still says my startup disc is full with "other"

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the available space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as "Backups." The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • IPhone iOS 7 Music Playlist and Album Cover Problems

I have had problems with my iPhone 4 ever since the iOS 7 update, especially with music. I have tried making playlists for my music from my mac and syncing it with my phone and the playlists never sync correctly. I then tried it the other way and created the playlists on my phone and tried syncing it but it still doen't sync correctly. Another problem that may or may not be connected to this issue is that the pictures of the albums in my music, videos, and movies are all switched around between eachother and none of them are correct.

Very many thanks for a super fast and effective solution.
Music has gone but I am still left (in Music) with an unselected music video.  How do I rid myself of that?
    Your support is much appreciated.
    Thank you

  • How do i get music vids and movies onto ipod?

I've downloaded some music videos and movie clips etc onto my itunes library, but i cant get it off the library onto the ipod.
    How do i do this?
    I have a 30GB video Ipod.
    Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem... i have one downloaded tv show that transfers but three others that don't transfer from itunes to ipod. i can view them in itunes but they just don't transfer.
Furthermore, there are several *.mov files that I imported into itunes so that i could transfer them onto my ipod. Same problem... I can view them in itunes, but they don't transfer.
There is PLENTY of space on my ipod so I know that's not the problem.

  • IOS music library and iTunes syncing problems

    Hello,
Just wondering if the issues that have been bothering me for some time and with multiple recent iOS and iTunes versions are going to get fixed in the future?
Adding or removing music manually or automatically between iTunes and the iOS has resulted in the corruption of the music library on the iOS device several times and the solution to fix the problem is always to empty the device and to start over. For example today I noticed that the album art had disappeared from my music (a known issue) and I searched the forums for a solution. Well the solution is to empty all of the music from the device and upload it back again and the album art will be back. Great! Except the music got deleted and still the space in use is showing "other usage" for the exact size of my deleted music library. If I try to add some music it adds to the space of the mysterious occupied space and the device is soon full. Time to start from scratch again. The syncing is broken and the software is buggy and I'd like it to work flawlessly instead of starting from scratch every time I'm making any minor changes to my music library. I think the reliability of the software and the basic functions is more important than the ability for the phone to ring in the computer whenever I get a call. Which is pretty amazing in someone else's opinion I'm sure.
Oh yes and the iPad is not uploading updated apps to the iTunes automatically which it did some software versions ago (a known issue). This is annoying.

    Schpoiler,
I had the very same problem with you. I think the main reason for this happening is purchasing and downloading content with your phone. I don't know how it happens though, this seems the problem with me.
What I did is, I basically erased all content and settings from my iPhone and used my backup in my mac to install everything back again. After that, the "other usage" got really small in size and as I deleted all the songs by using syncing, I saw that music occupied no space in my phone. Then, I synchronized my music back again and now everything works just fine.

  • N8: Getting Really Sick of Music Player and Photo ...

Both Music Player and the Photo Gallery look at the entire device - main memory, mass memory, SD card, everything. This is an ENORMOUS pain. Is there some way I can change this, even if it means using 3rd party software?
    1. Music player looks at all audio files on your entire device, so if I hit play all on shuffle, I get all the sound effects for games that have their sounds stored as WAV or whatever data, I get any sound files from projects that I am working on that I've put on my phone to transfer them elsewhere (effectively using my phone as a memory stick - very useful). This is really annoying. Can I just tell the music player to just look in my Music folder and no where else?!?
    2. Photo Gallery does the same with images. All my contact photos I download using Face Contacts appear in my gallery. Same with games that use standard image files. All music cover art files appear in here. I just want it to only show what's under my Images folder!
Help! It's driving me bl**dy mad!

It looks like N8 default music player will scan all the audio files in your device & default photo gallery will scan all the image files in image folder. Hope this help to clear your doubt.

  • How do I transfer photos and videos from my iPhone to my PC using iCloud and Photo Stream?

I am quite confused with how iCloud and Photo Stream work to transfer photos and videos from my iPhone to my PC. I recently ran out of my space on iPhone so I need to delete all of my pictures and videos but I first want to confirm that they have all been transferred over to my PC. I have iCloud setup but here lately I have been getting the warning message that iCloud could not perform it's backup because I was out of space on iCloud. I had not worried about it since I figured that all of my pictures and videos were on my iPhone anyway and the only reason I would need them on iCloud would be for a backup. Anyway, how can I confirm that everything has been transferred over to my PC? Then, what is the quickest way to delete all of my exisiting photos and videos off of my iPhone? I found the Photo Stream folder on my PC... Is everything automatically added to this when I connect my iPhone to my PC? If I delete something off of my iPhone is it deleted from the Photo Stream folder on my PC? Please help and thank you! I just don't want to lose any of my stuff!

You don't move them to iTunes or an iTunes account.
You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
