  • IPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs

iPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs. I have about 1400 songs and just got 40 more, and before I bought those 40 my iTunes was wiped out. I still had the files so my iTunes was filled up again. Now, when I connect my iPod to the computer it is recognized and then it says "do not disconnect" then after a few seconds it says "ipod update is complete- ok to disconnect". but it did not upload any songs. How can I make it work?

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
Then restore your iPod to factory settings.

  • ITunes will not sync songs onto iPhone, troubleshooting methods not working

Simply put, songs will not download onto my iPhone.  I have tried every method that I could think of to solve this:
    -restarting phone and mac
    -updating iTunes
-taking off all the music from the phone and redownloading
-rechecking the little check thing that says I want that song
    -restoring my phone
-going onto the individual tab to sync and syncing from there(which leads to a whole other problem, because that deletes songs(story for another thread))
-manually dragging songs onto my phone icon dropbox thingy
-making sure the songs are the proper files
... and still nothing has worked.
When I go on my phone menu when its plugged into iTunes, and then go to the 'On Device' section, it shows that the songs are there, but they are faded out with this little circle thing next to them(I don't know if this is significant).
I'm at my wits end, I just don't know what to do.  I don't understand why iTunes is refusing to do something as simple as sync songs.
Any ideas? Thank you for any help you can provide!

    UPDATE:
I finally figured it out (though I'm not sure this counts as 'figuring it out').
So, what worked for me was unchecking the check box thing next to the song and syncing the phone.  After the sync--behold!--, the songs were in my phone.  I don't know if this is another glitch or not, but I'm running with it.
I wanted to post the answer so that other people who may have had this issue can hopefully resolve it.

  • Ipod Will not Sync - Songs skip wont play

    Hi,
I am using windows vista 64 and ITunes 8.
Whenever I attempt to sync my music (especially LARGE play lists) iTunes will pause wait ages, even tho the ipod is already attached it will reattach itself (ie windows will ask again if I would like to use it for ready boost) then it will start to sync. Everything appears fine but the music will not play. When I attempt to play a a song it will skip around and play 1 second of the start of the song then the a bit from the middle then the start again then either crash the iPod or just skip to the next song.
    - I have tried this on 4 different ipods (all 4'th gen) all of which I know work
    - My music is currently being stored on a windows home server and I access it over a network.
I have reinstalled iTunes 5 times. It used to work fine with itunes 7.7 this only has happened since I upgraded, and yes I know the first release of iTunes 8 was faulty...
Any Ideas? I have been trying to sort this for 3 weeks now....

Same here. At time I will end up with a message saying ITunes cannot read the Ipdo please restore...Between those episode, the only way i have found to sync & read complete songs was to sync song by group of 3 or 4...if i try to sync larger group, i will end with song that stops on the Ipdod after 30-40 sec...This problem has occured for more then a year and Imn very tired to reload my 60G 3 songs at the time...:(

  • IPod Touch 2 not syncing, songs disappearing

Hi!  My daughter's iPod Touch 2 stopped syncing Nov. 12.  Being a very alert mother, I finally got to trying to fix it this weekend!  The iPod will not sync.  At first, it would freeze at step 1 of 5.  After much trying, and uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, I finally got it to 5 of 5, but just when it was about done, I'd get an error that it could not sync.  I tried running diagnostics, and after I place check marks next to what I'd like to have diagnosed, iTunes just freezes, not allowing me to pursue diagnostics.  Finally, on the main screen for her touch, I checked 'manually manage music' instead of 'auto sync'.  When we open her iPod file on iTunes, over 200 of her songs are gone from the iPod (still in library).  So we tried to manually drag songs to the iPod.  It takes over an hour for EACH song!!  We are a very computer illeterate family and don't do anything 'questionable', just upload CD's and purchase songs from iTunes, so I don't know how it could have been corrupted or anything.  The only thing I can think of is that she started using an iPod alarm clock by Phillips where it charges the iPod and plays it as a speaker.
I scoured this community, and I think I tried all the suggestions I could find.  Should I just click the 'restore iPod' and just try to add the music that way?  Do you think the alarm clock could have ruined the iPod some how?  I think the songs came off when it sat 'syncing' for hours!  The only songs left are the first ones she uploaded a year ago.  THANK YOU!!!

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • ITunes Match will not sync songs in a playlist to iPhone

iTunes Match will not sync all songs in a playlist to my iPhone. All songs have iCloud status of matched, uploaded or purchased, and are 128k bitrate or higher. How can I get iTunes match to sync this playlist properly?

I rang applecare with this issue and the way it was resolved was as follows:
To make sure iCloud is up to date:
    1. In iTunes on the computer select "Update iTunes Match" from the Store menu and wait until it finishes.
To refresh the data on the iPhone:
    2. Power the iPhone down and back up again
    3. Settings > iTunes & App Store > iTunes Match > Off
    4. Launch the Music app to verify Match is off
    5. Power the iPhone down and back up again
    6. Settings > iTunes & App Store > iTunes Match > On
    7. Launch the Music app and givit it time to update (probably best done when you have a Wifi connection).
    Hope this helps

  • Ipad will not sync songs from imported CD's

I have updated my ipad 2 with the latest IOS and now, as of yesterday, it will not sync the songs from my computer that were imported from CDs (kind=MPEG audio file). All other itunes (Kind=puchased AAC) songs will sync. I have turned it on and off, restored it, restarted itunes, restarted my computer, etc. Nothing seems to work. These songs do show up in the itunes library on my ipad in light grey with a red circle beside it with a red square in the middle, but they will not play. Nothing happens when I click on this red circle/square. Yes my PC is authorized. I sync new songs almost every day so I know this just started with this newest IOS release.
I have tried Wi Fi syncing. Nothing. I tried manually syncing and dragging the song from my library to the ipad. Nothing.

I have the exact same problem as described: red square in red circle.  It appears to be only for songs that I imported from CDs.  I have tried restoring, etc. but they still appear.  The songs are in iTunes and play in iTunes but they will not play on iPhone.  In addition, when I sync, the process never completes - step 5 of 5 continues and does not end (Waiting for Items to Copy).  I have latest ios and iTunes versions. I do not back up to the cloud but do have local backup.  Would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Cant not sync songs and ive tried almost everything

I bought an iphone a couple of days ago and it will not sync my songs. I have a new macbook. It transfered my apps on to my computer but it will not transfer my songs on to my phone. I tried switching usb ports, restarting computer, not opening itunes, letting the iphone open it. I have 8.0 i tunes. I says its syncing but nothing shows up. I never get any error messages or anything just no results. Please help. I bought this mainly because my old ipod will not respond to my new mac.

Connect your phone and open iTunes. Click on your phone in the left column under "Devices". At the top of the main window, click the "Music" tab. Be sure "Sync Music" is checked and select one of the buttons below that.

  • Itunes will not sync songs incorrectly "they cannot be played on this ipod"

Recently I had a loptop crash, this required a rebuild and a reinstall of itunes.
I resynced the ipod touch and promtly lost most songs! Now I am unable to sync all the songs back even after restoring them to the playlist (from backups); some songs fail to sync and I am presented with the message "some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to the ipod because they cannot be played on this ipod"
Does anyone know the cause and solution; I had bought the CD's and used this laptop to place them on the ipod. I am hoping to not need to import all the CD's again just to get the music back.
Also I have effectively 1 lost "authorised" PC - it crashed so I could not deauthorise before the rebuild. I suppose there is a risk the crash coulod have been caused by a hardware issue that may not have made it's only appearance. Is there anyway to reset this count or have the full list of authorsied cleared to start again?
    Thanks Cheers

What is the format of the songs that won't copy. Some of the earlier iPods would not play Lossless or other types of files.

  • Icloud errors not syncing songs ripped from CDs

I've been an iCloud customer since November 2011. However, since converting to iCloud the songs I've ripped from my CD collection nor songs (.aac) that were purchased from Amazon no longer sync.   iCloud errors out each morning, I'm asked to log off then back on (which I do dutifully) but the error continues. My music is flagged "Waiting" and so it does! Everything else works, which is totally aggravating since the problem is obviously itunes or a server side issues.
I've contacted support multiple times and the last "genius" stated that "I do not have the training or tools to assist you". That's about the nicest bugger off line I've ever heard!
Well months later and still no fix,  and the issue lingers.
I was hoping soeone out there could direct me to a solution, contact, or a trueiTunes genius that could help..  Ill pay, I just want iCloud to work as it's designed to I'd be happy if it did that much!

  • New iPod will not sync song ratings with iTunes

A few months ago I bought an iPhone (my first Apple MP3 player) and loaded it up with some music and everything worked fine between it and iTunes. I would rate some songs on the iPhone and synced it up with iTunes and it transferred those song ratings over with no problems.
I later got rid of the iPhone and bought an iPod 4GB Nano and loaded it up with music but when I rated some songs and synced it up with iTunes it would not transfer the ratings over. It would transfer over the ratings fine from iTunes to the iPod but not the other way around. I removed and reinstalled iTunes and deleted the iTunes folder within the My Music folder on my computer and reloaded iTunes and imported all my music again. Restored and reset my iPod and tried again, it still will not transfer over the song ratings from iPod to iTunes.
So I figured I got a screwed up iPod (it was a refurb) and decided to go ahead and upgrade. Bought a brand new iPod 8GB Nano and the same thing is happening again. Although it's not absolutely critical to be able to rate songs it helps in getting my music library sorted in deciding what to keep or not.
Any idea what to do short of reinstalling Vista or moving my music library over to another computer to sync with?

Hi, I just sorted out this problem for my ipod touch. Jose9550 and Chris in CA did not explain very well how it is to be sorted - their posts helped me but iI sort of discovered it by accident. My main problem was that the ipod did not update itunes with my track ratings made direct with the touch screen whilst listening to tracks.
Here is how I found out how to sort it:
Step 1: Click on the option in the summary screen to manually manage the music on you Ipod. Back up any tracks/playlists that you don't want to lose.
Step 2: Create a few playlists with music that you want on Ipod
Step 3: Click on your Ipod name in Itunes side bar and then select the Music tab on the main panel on the right. Now click on the check box "Sync Music". This will bring up a prompt that all your music /playlists currently on the Ipod may be erased. Accept this message and then click on check box "Selected playlists". Now pick the playlists/playfolders you want synced. Click apply.
Step 4: Go into the menu bar in itunes and select Edit>Preferences>Devices> and uncheck box beside "Disable Automatic syncing for IPhones and IPods"
Now any changes made to the playlists/tracks etc on the desktop or IPod will be transferred in both directions.

  • My iPod touch 3rd gen will not sync songs.

There is no error message, just whited out songs.  The files are not corrupt on my computer (running windows 7x64).  Everything seems to run smooth on iTunes, except for the ipod.
It just says it's done syncing and then there's none of the new songs, just whited out songs as if they were corrupt or something.  I've reset the thing, I've reinstalled itunes, I've been trying to solve this for a year.
    Help!

I've gotten the iPod to sync after restoring it and not changing ANY of the music sync settings.  I didn't even click "sync music", I just have it on manual and clicked autofill.
After it synced all of the music successfully, I tried to sync a playlist (my recently added), and it's gone bonkers again, it won't sync the playlist's music, or any new music now.
