ITouch Notes

I've had no problem syncing iTouch Notes until I upgraded to the 2.0. Now my notes are gone. Any idea where I can retrieve them?

How were you syncing notes before the 2.0 upgrade? I didn't think that any version of the iPod Touch firmware, past or present, allowed for syncing of notes.
If your iPod backed up during your upgrade to 2.0, and the upgrade used that backup when it restored, all of your notes should have been saved and brought back. Were your other settings retained? Bookmarks, mail, etc? Are you missing anything other than the notes?

That's the problem. You keep restoring corrupt software. Restore as NEW and don't use the backup at all. Set the phone up from scratch.

Re Text messaging. I have noticed that a lot of the phone numbers are not phone numbers but just a random set of numbers. 0000265060, 0032665115, 0000032665, 0032665114. These are people my son is texting to and receiving texts from. Does this mean the person has a blocked phone number???

Itouch not responding in computer

Hi, My Itouch does not show up in itunes in any computer(I've tried three different ones), and will not show a charge icon when just being charged in the wall (but somehow charges). The last time it showed in the computer I think I pulled it out of the port before ejecting it but I can't remember. It works fine, all the music and videos play fine, but I can't update it, charge it, adjust the playlists on my computer or more importantly add music. The only thing I can think of to do is to update the touch manually through wireless but I am not sure if this can be done? Any ideas besides restoring the touch?

With iOS 6 on my 4th gen iTouch I am finding I no have to delete the playlist from my iTouch, not the when I sync. Now the paylist is being deleted from my library as well. What am I doing wrong?

With the new iOS 6 I have to use on my old iTouch (4th gen) instead of deleting a playlist thru the sync, I was instructed to delete it on the device. Now when I sync I am finding the playlist has been deleted from the library as well. I just want it off teh device, not erased. What am I doing wrong?

New Itouch not recognized by windows or itunes.

I got the itouch today for XMAS. I have attempet to activate it on two different laptops and my home computer, none of which recognize it in windows or on itunes. The only thing I can consistently get from the itouch screen is the picture to conncet to itunes. WHich obviously doesn't work.
I have reinstalled itunes several times, verified the usb ports (which are multiple) are working. I have reset the itouch, even though I haven't even used it.
Any logical suggestions on how to activate this thing?

I was really frustrated this morning when I expected to plug in my new ipod touch and it did not work...
I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with it.
I called apple support on the phone this morning and none of the troubleshooting ideas worked so I made an appt with customer service on SATURDAY! ahhhhh i seriously do not want to wait....i kind of want to smash it on the ground....
i read everyones thread and the exact same problems are happening to me...
when i pluggled it in it said "This Ipod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started." so i went into services and the program refused to start....goody...then on some weird spur of the moment click, it worked but even then my ipod didnt even show up in itunes...made that annoying little noise
im going to see if i can exchange this defective ipod touch for another, but i just hope there arent 5 million people there...(day after christmas)

Pleas has to anyone, just updated itunes and all of the sudden ipad not to bein seen by itunes at all! same for my old itouch ipod but at the same time my new nano ipod and the very old classic ipod is seen and syncronized with no problems what shoud I do?

1st Gen iTouch not recognized by iTunes on Laptop

I have a 1st Gen iTouch that I cannot seem to get iTunes to recognize.
About a week ago I re-named it in iTunes, cleaned it up, and performed a sync.
Used it until the battery was low, and re-charged using my wall charger. Now, when I connect to the laptop, is is not recognized at all...
I have tried the following to no avail:
Re-install iTunes
Stop/Start the Apple Mobile Device
Try a different USB cable
Re-boot the laptop with USB devices not plugged in
Force the iTouch into recovery mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808)
Try to connect using a different laptop
It still charges when connected to my wall charger. I have a 2nd gen iTouch that connects just fine (charges & connects to iTunes). I don't what the problem could be?! This iTouch is 1.5 years old and work great apart from this issue. Can anyone help?

ITouch not recognized on any PC anymore - Defect USB port the cause?

Hey guys,
I'm posting here because I've been to the closest Genius Bar twice and they couldn't even tell me what was my problem. I'm kinda desperate right now...
The same problem occurred on my three iPod Touch first gen so far; for some reason they simply stop being recognized by ANY computers. I try different cables, reset, recovery mode, reinstall iTunes, restart the AMDS, update every hardware drivers of my PC... The only thing I haven't done right now is reformatting my PC, which won't happen.
I went to the Apple's Genius Bar and they couldn't find my problem; it wasn't the pins, the cable nor an application problem (I have latest firmware 2.1 by the way). So they gave me another Touch which was also defect. Yesterday, I return and they gave me a third one which worked correctly at the store and on my job's computer.
However, when I got back home I connect it on my own PC (using the same cable et setup) and for some reason, now the same problem reappeared. Doesn't matter what I try, it is not recognized anywhere anymore. When I connect it to a PC, the recharge window never shows; it continue working normally though.
As I said, I updated every hardware drivers and I'm a little tired of going to the store everyday. Could it be caused by a defect USB port? Anyone ever seen something like this?
Some help would be really appreciate.

I been having the same problem as you, except I haven't tried it in a different computer. For a while, iTunes is recognizing my iTouch as a digital canon camera. Now its not recognizing it as anything.
This problem started started when I downloaded the iTouch 2.0.2 update. When iTunes is open it asked me to update. When I click yes to update the iTunes, it only updates the safari and it won't update the iTunes. Apple support by phone was not able to help me fix this problem. The tech said that the USB port hardware needs to be updated on my computer. It took me almost 5 hours to find out this could be the solution to my problem.
Now, I'm trying to find the USB update thru Microsoft and I'm having difficult time finding this too. I had this iTouch for only 3 months and cost me almost $400 and I'm not able to use it. I have at least 14GB available in this iTouch and I don't know If I will be able to use all this space, it I dont find the solution to this problem.
If you find the solution to this problem, PLEASE reply to this post. If anyone else reading this, your answers are welcome and appreciated. If I cant find a solution to this problem, I will never buy an Apple product again.

Itouch not recognized by Windows XP

I have both an itouch and iphone. The iphone syncs just fine. The itouch doesn't even show up anywhere (i get the camera thing at the beginning)
I have reinstalled itunes 8. My itouch has the 2.2 upgrade already.
I have tried everything on this forum and other sites and got nada.
Please help.

Do you have Windows XP "Media Center Edition"? Because if you do, the Touch is not compatible with that. It took us about 6 phone calls and 5 hours on the phone for someone to tell us that.
The Touch later worked perfectly on another computer with Vista.

The same problem with Windows Vista 64bit-iTouch not recognized by iTunes

Happy Holidays, all. I was just hoping that someone had come up with a fix to the problem with iTouch and Windows Vista Premium (64bit). All I get is a picture of the plug pointing to the iTunes image on my iTouch, can't even see the regular icons yet. The device is not picked up by iTunes, either. Tried reinstalling iTunes, the whole bit. Thought I'd try one more time to get a fix before returning the product. By the way, if you ever finally do get through to Apple Tech Support, they'll act like they have never heard of the problem (at least the guy I spoke with did. He wasn't very nice or very helpful). Anyway, good luck and thanks.

I have I think the same issue. iTunes can see a Nano but not an iTouch. Vista see the device when I plug it in, but no luch with iTunes. I ended up using a old laptop with XP which is slow and out of hard drive space, so I need a fix.

Itouch not charging on my Macbook & not being displayed in Itunes

I have a 3rd Gen 32G Ipod Touch with iOS 4.1 that I'm using on my macbook (10.4.11) and Itunes (9.2.1).
Until a week ago it was working fine, syncing correctly and so on. Unfortunately it's not working properly anymore and I really don't know why.
The USB cable works, my USB ports work too. I've restarted my computer/ itunes/ itouch but I don't want to reboot my itouch and lose all my data if I can avoid it. I haven't done any upgrade in the past few weeks, it really stopped working for no apparent reason.
I think it's being "recognized" though because when I plug the Itouch to my macbook it will turn on (if it was turned off), will display the Apple sign, tell me the battery is low and needs to be plugged in. And that's all it does...
Right now I'm using my boyfriend's PC to charge it but my music is on my laptop so it's not a real solution.
I hope it doesn't mean I have to upgrade to 10.5 to download itunes 10 just to be able to use my Itouch as usual. This would be a major rip-off!

Alright so my itouch is now fully charged (thanks to a PC) but it's still not detected by my macbook or itunes. I did check the link you gave me lllaass but there's nothing there I haven't tried.
They mention that there could be a conflict but how would I know? Should I just uninstall and install all of my softwares? And I have no firewall or anti-virus so it can't be that...
What I really don't like is to read on the first page "If your computer does not meet these requirements, you may need to upgrade your computer before using iPod touch." I don't have OS 10.5.8 and I don't plan on buying it just to use my itouch! Especially since it was working perfectly until a few days ago... What a headache!

Help: Itouch not responding

One of my friends 'borrowed' my IPod Touch. He said he tried to update something on it from his PC and it came unplugged in the middle of it. I have no clue what he was doing or what he was trying to install, and I dont think he knows either. ****, I didnt know he had my itouch until afterward.
As of right now, the iTouch does not boot so the resets in the manual are unable to be used. When I boot it, strings of white text scroll up quickly and then it sits there with ":/ root#" at the bottom of the screen. Tried to go into it via iTunes, but it is not popping up as a device.
Does anyone know what he did (Im so hoping for his sake he didnt wipe the root directory)? Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Have you done a 'restore' to the iPod?
