Itouch questions

Hi,
I want to buy an Itouch, but I have a couple questions:
1) I currently have a Nano 2g and Itunes, so I'm wondering if I'll be able to have two devices hooked up to itunes or if that will be a problem.
2) I have the wall charger for the Nano 2g....will that work with the Itouch too? I don't really want to have to buy MORE acessories.
Thanks,
Kelly

1) yeah you can manage two different devices in itunes (although i'm not sure you can hook them up at the same time)
2) as long as you are using a USB charger. iPod touches no longer support firewire charging

  • Updating iTouch Question

I'm thinking hard about uninstalling iTunes because Vista and iTunes don't get along at all! (I have the most recent version of iTunes installed). So here's my question.
If I uninstall iTunes, is it at all possible to update the iTouch's firmware while using Windows Media Player?

is it at all possible to update the iTouch's firmware while using Windows Media Player?

  • A few itouch questions

Have the 2g itouch for about a week.
    A few questions.
    1. Is there any reason why itouch won't automatically begin sync when I plug it in? I have "manually manage music and videos" unchecked. The sync will begin normally once i click "Sync" button.
    2. Concerning battery life. Is battery life greatly reduced with WiFi enabled?

The Wi-Fi connection does drain the iPods battery, just like any other Wi-Fi enabled device.
This webpage: http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html provides tips that will help you increase the iPods battery life.
    +*Maximum Battery Life*+
+The new iPod touch can play music up to 36 hours, the new iPod nano can play up to 24 hours, the new iPod classic can play up to 36 hours, and the iPod shuffle can play up to 12 hours on a full charge at original capacity. Apple runs tests for battery life using songs encoded at 128-Kbps AAC and songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store (128-Kbps AAC). The songs are played continuously through a playlist without interruption, with backlight and equalizer off. For all iPod models, factory default settings were used except that iPod touch units were associated to a Wi-Fi network and Auto-Brightness was turned off.+

  • How do I "transfer app purchases to [my] itunes library" on a Windows machine?

I'm on Windows 8.1 and using iTunes 11.1.5.
I was just going to update my phone from iTunes and I got a messege saying, "There are apps on this phone that aren't in your iTunes library. You should transfer all app purchases to your iTunes library before continuing." I decided to just download without updating, but now I'm wondering, how do I transfer app purchases to my computer?
Supposedly (according to mac users who I've seen post this in this community) they get a dialog when they plug their phone in asking them if they want to transfer their app purchases or if they want to synch their phone. I only get the option to synch my phone. So, how can I transfer my app purchases into my iTunes library? (I know how to back the phone up, I don't think that's the same thing).
    Thanks!

    Hello iTouch questions,
This can be done by choosing the File menu in iTunes (if it doesn't appear, you may need to hit the 'Alt' button on your keyboard, it will appear at the top of the window), then Devices, then Transfer Purchases.
After connecting your device to the computer and its icon appears in iTunes, go to the File menu, then Devices, and choose Transfer Purchases from "(Your device name)".

  • Resume music playlist after power off?

Just graduated from a 3G iPod to a 32gb 2nd gen iTouch. On my old iPod, I could listen to a playlist, power off in the middle, and the iPod would resume playback from that exact point.
This isn't happening with the iTouch.
Am I missing a setting? I've seen the threads about "resume playback" checkbox in iTunes, but that doesn's seem to work for related iTouch questions...
    thx

This is how the Zen operates, more or less. Under the current firmware, your place will be saved if you turned the Zen off for less than about an hour or two. This is because the Zen goes into a "sleep" mode. You can tell the Zen was in sleep mode if, when you turn it on, all you see is "Zen" and the player turns on in a second or two.
If the Zen has been off for more than an hour or two, it turns off completely. You can tell this because the screen shows "Creative", then "Zen", and takes about 5-7 seconds to boot up. In this case, the Zen will lose your place.
I agree that this is far from ideal, to say the least. I find myself having to navigate back to the right folder to get to the next track in my audio book all the time.
I understand that things were different with earlier firmwares, before they had the "sleep" mode. Hopefully they can fix this problem in a future firmware release.

  • My itouch is asking me for answers to security questions that I never answered and it won't let me buy anything from the iTunes store.  I tried a hard reset to original settings but it still asks for answers.

My daughter's itouch (registered to my apple account) is asking for answers to security questions that I never answered and it won't let her buy anything from the iTunes store.  I tried a hard reset to original settings but it still asks for answers.  How do I reset the security questions or get rid of them appearing altogether?  I can purchase apps on my phone (same apple account) and it doesn't ask me for security questions.

  • ITouch Javascript and Voip Questions

I'd like to get an IPod Touch or an HP iPAQ 211.
I need to be able to transfer some small html files that utilize javascript and rely on a small directory structure. I'd be glad to post the files or send them to anyone who requests them.
Basically I have several construction calculators that are coded in html and utilize javascript to compute the answer. The directory structure is simple just a single folder that contains two folders. One of the folders has the javascript and the other folder has the html calculators.
Just open the html calculator and populate the fields and press calculate then the javascript populates the answer fields. I'd be glad to send a pair of files for testing as i'd like to take the device with me when I leave for Afghanistan.
That leads to my next question does the iTouch 3g support Voip and some sort of instant messaging platform if utilized over a wi-fi connection?

I've seen youtube vids where files are transfered to the touch. I've read it supports javascript. Apple has a no refund policy so I'd like to have two files both under 60k transfered and set up in folders in the root directory to test if the html file can be opened from within the device and if the calculator will function properly to populate the answer when the javascript is ran via the compute button on the html page.
    Thx for the tips/info.

  • Questions about iTouch

I currently have my Nano earbuds as semi-permanent fixtures except during downloads but am considering an iTouch but have the following questions
    1. Will the iTouch work well in Europe? I'm traveling for 6-7 weeks in Hungary and Croatia and would like a wifi alternative to internet cafes. Is wifi an international standard and readily available there?
    2. I'd still like to used my Nano for listening with its smaller footprint. How will iTunes handle updating two devices?
    3. Is there a way to set up "batch" downloads of podcasts without iTunes with a wifi connection?
    4. Can I load iTunes to a USB Flash Drive to plug in at an internet cafe to download podcasts?
    5. The feature I look forward to is GPS on the iTouch. Is GPS software based or require another chip in the iTouch. Any ideas?
    Thanks for any help. Michael

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    1. WiFi is a standard so will work wherever you can get access to a hot spot. Remember hot spot size is measured in a few tens of metres so it's availablity varies wildy whereever you are in the world. You should get the website of the place you will be accomodated in or a more general site like this:
    http://www.wifinder.com/advanced/results/country/croatia_hrvatska/1/0/0/0/html/
    2. On a Windows machine you can only connect one iPod at a time but iTunes will handle each iPod seperately exactly as it does for a single iPod.
    3. You can't download podcasts over the iTunes WiFi Store although there are a few sites you can listen to podcasts when you are in a WiFi zone AFAIK they can't be saved to the iPod.
    4. Not sure. Syncing your additional applications might be a problem if you bought these from the iTS rather than them being bundled.
    5. There is no GPS on the +iPod touch+ only a Maps application that with some hot spots can tell you where you are within a few tens of metres by knowing the address of the router you're connected too. I doubt you'll find that many that work as you travel around and again you'll need to be in a WiFi area.

  • Old iTouch & Apple ID security Questions

I currently own a iTouch 4th Generation still running ios5. I recently tried to buy a song on iTunes, and forgot my password. Continued to follow reset password procedures. I entered in my new password and it asked me to answer security questions. I bought this iTouch in Dec 2011 and do not recall the need to set up security questions. Failed to answer the questions and even added an alternate email address. However, when I go to the Manage Apple ID-->Password and Security, it again asks the questions, and does not have the option to send to my alternate(rescue) email address. Is there another way to fix this problem other than calling Apple Supp?

    1. Click here and fill out the form.
    2. An alternate email isn't the same as a rescue email.

  • Warrenty Question: Itouch 2nd Generation

Back in November 2008, I bought the Itouch 2nd Generation for $399.99 and I also bought with it a two year warranty. Now two years later i noticed the receipt but i bought the Itouch on 11/28/08 so it ends today, or since its 12:15 now, yesterday. Now my question is i heard that you can extend warranties after you got it in the first place so I'm wondering if i can still get my warranty extended and if so would i be able to exchange my now probably discontinued 2nd generation itouch for the 4th generation one?

BTW, even if it was still in effect, there would have to be something wrong with it, and it would be sent out for Rapid Exchange, which gets you a refurb in 7-10 business days. The refurb would be a 2G.

  • Watching itouch on a TV screen - follow-up question

Have now got the right cable (and thanks very much for the responses) to watch my itouch on a television
When I watch a film on a TV, the picture on the itouch screen doesn't move, as it would if I was watching via the itouch, or go blank after a minute or two, as it does when I listen to music
Is this normal, and could it damage the screen, if it stays with one unmoving image for too long?
    Thanks again for your help

thats whats its supposed to do
you can't watch video on the ipod touch and the connected tv at the same time
and why don't you just press the sleep/wake button if you don't want to risk screen damage

or another iOs device, which option do I choose? *Set up as a new iPod or *Restore from the backup of (myself or son's itouch) I have done this before but cannot remember what I did and I do not want to lose what I have.

  • ITouch Mail Question

How do I create a folder on my iTouch while in email, so I can save the email to a different folder(s)? Or is this possible?

You need to create the folder on your computer first then go into your mail on the touch, this is how i did it for me. Works fine for my .mac account
