ITouch recognized as camera

I know that everyone here is just going to redirect me to another post on the forum... I have already looked at the 15 most recent pages of posts and I have tried everything that might have anything to do with my problem.
Whenever I connect my iPod Touch to my PC it is not recognized by neither iTunes, nor Device Manager.
When I connect it to my iMac, it works just fine.
I have updated both XP and iTunes...
Please Help..

  • Help - Itouch 4th gen camera/photos

I have an Ipod touch 4th gen.  All functions were working properly until around a month ago.
When I take pictures from either side, the photo does save and I can open it in photos.  However, when I open the photo, it is very blurry.  When I press edit, the picture is clear, but I cannot save it this way.  When I press save, it saves back to blurry.  ALSO, after around an hour or so for ANY photo, when I go back into photos each picture is this white icon with a grey rectangle in the middle.  I basically can't take photos with the itouch.
Video camera functions like facetime and skype work perfectly fine.  Both my and the person I'm talking to's video resolution is fine.  Facebook/instagram works fine.
In ITunes, when you plug your ipod into a computer, there is a bar showing % of storage used by music, apps, other, etc.  Before these glitches, photos took a signifacant portion (It's bar colour is red).  However, now, even if I take say 100 pictures and within the hour they're still visible but blurry, it will not show that I have any storage used by photos on my ipod.
I have scoured the internet for solutions, and before I go into the apple store, I was wondering if anyone had the same problem.... it does seem kind of random.
    Thanks, I appreciate it!
Product: Ipod touch 32GB 4th gen

  • No luck importing from SonyHandycam DCR-DVD650?  I am using USB import to my MacBook that is running OSX 10.6.8. The MacBook is not recognizing the camera.  Any ideas what the issue could be?

I am not having any success in importing my videos from Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 650 to my mac book.  I am using the USB connection.  The macbook is not recognizing the camera.  The macbook is running OSX 10.6.8.  Any ideas on what the problem could be?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2361 There's a recommendation that when using this camera to record in the 'Standard' format instead of VR format. So if you know what the setting was you used to record the disk that's a starting point.
According to this website the camera should be compatible with iMovie '11
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US
So here's some steps to take to get the Mac to recognize your camera.
    1. Try it more than a few times, sometimes it can take 2-4 attempts to get iMovie to recognize a camera for the first time.
    2. Always get the power adapter for your camera out of the bag. Hook it to the wall outlet, then plug your camera into that. Don't run it off the battery.
    3. With the camera plugged into the wall, in DV playback mode. Hit play and just let it play video out continuously, then reboot the Mac. As soon as you see the desktop, launch iMovie. Go to File Menu > Import from Camera and see if the Capture window opens with your video playing through.
    4. Make sure iPhoto doesn't try to launch itself automatically when it detects your camera has been connected to the Mac. Sometimes it tries to steal the videos off of a camera and 'blocks' iMovie from seeing the camera when it's attached. So make sure iPhoto hasn't interecepted your camera and is not running at all when you launch iMovie
No guarantees, but some things to try

  • HELP PLEASE! Computer reads iTouch as a camera. Will not open in iTunes.

Could an expert please answer this question. I've browsed the discussion board looking for answers but everyone just seems to have a different problem.
I run Windows XP Pro. Everything was working fine until the new version of iTunes came out. Ok, so recently I updated my iTunes to version 7.7.1. When this happened, my iTunes no longer read my iTouch. Long story short, a couple of sytem restores later and an upgrade to the 2.0 applications program, and my iTouch was stuck in recovery mode. A couple hours ago I went to the Apple store and a genius fixed my iTouch back to factory mode. I reinstalled iTunes 7.7.1 and plugged my iTouch in, and my PC read the iTouch as a camera and had a list of 5 or so programs to open it with (not iTunes). So I opened iTunes manually and my iTouch is not being read. I checked to make sure I had the latest version and it says "This version of iTunes (7.7.1) is the current version". Then I try and do a diagnostics test and I get this message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". When I view more information, under "The following files will be included in this error report:" it says C:\DOCUME~1\ALANIB~1.ALA\LOCALS~1\Temp\636b_appcompat.txt So yeah.
I also don't have any pictures on my iTouch.
What in the world is going on. It was working fine until I updated. This is really starting to **** me off. Thanks!

    SWEET I FIXED IT.
So I went to control panel, add/remove programs, and removed the "Apple Mobile Device Support". Then I restarted my computer. I then went to add/remove programs again and this time removed iTunes. I restarted my computer again. Next I installed the latest version of iTunes and restarted my computer immediatly after. Everything worked fine after that.

  • Onlocation is not recognizing my camera

I have a Panasonic HPX300 and im shooting on dvcprohd connected via firewire, and when i turn OL on it reads "no video input found. connect a camera to your computer, or check your cameras connection and power"  I have my camera on PC Mode.  any help would be appreciated.

It's not that FMLE is not recognizing your camera.... FMLE is not recognizing your capture device (the iGrabber).
Just because a capture device can capture video as a file onto your computer doesn't mean that the device is made to deliver throughput video as a "live camera" source.  There is a big difference between recording to a file, and passing video through as a source.
An inexpensive caputre device that FMLE can see is the Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD.  If you have a FireWire connection on your computer I would strongly suggest using the Canopus ADVC110 capture device (works like a champ -- no issues or errors).
If you change your capture device out to one that allows other software (like FMLE, XSplit, Wirecast, etc.) to see the video as a "source" then you'll be in luck.  iGrabber simply does not have that capability.  This isn't the fault of Adobe, it simply wasn't designed by iGrabber to be used in this manner.

  • Mac is not recognizing my camera AGAIN

Can someone, PLEASE, give me an answer?
Image Capture, iPhoto and Aperture stopped recognizing my camera. The camera blinks while connected as always, I can see it in the System Profiler. In About This Mac, under the USB section, I can see that Canon Digital Camera is showing.
The curious thing is that when I turn off my camera, then quickly turn in on I can see it flashing in Image Capture for like 1 second and then "no camera connected" appears again.
What could cause this problem? I once had the same problem, formatting my camera solved it, but this time I tried it a few times and it didn't work.

"when I turn off my camera, then quickly turn in on I can see it flashing in Image
Capture for like 1 second and then "no camera connected" appears"
Once ejected, a disk/camera has to be replugged in.
But this doesn't seem to be the problem. When connected properly
the cam is showing up in Finder and ATMac. I believe the three
apps aren't seeing your pics because possibly the correct camera
storage setting may not be selected in the Finder - although device
itself is connected and present. When my camera connects to the
Mac I always need to select one of several options - I select DCIM
and that turns out to be my pics. Good luck.

    (apologies for barging in, lllass.)
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • IMovie 09 stopped recognizing my cameras

I've been using iMovie 09 with my two cameras Panasonic GF1 and Sony TX10. Recently iMovie stopped recognizing both cameras which it used to recognize properly. The problem occurs to both my iMac and MBP so I suspect that it was caused by some recent updates. As these cameras are shooting AVCHD which is not supported directly by iMovie, there is no way to import the MTS clips unless they are detected and imported from the camera.
Anyone has similar experiences and knows how to fix it?
    Louis

Very strange - the problems occured a few days ago and I tried reformatting different cards, the problems persist. However, it started to work again for my Panasonic (both from the card directly or from the image I created previously for the undetectable card. I have not done anything and not even rebooted my Mac). It still doesn't work for my Sony thought (neither from the card nor the disk image). Will buy a blank new card then try again.
I'm thinking otherwise I would try out other softwares like Adobe Premiere Element which supports AVCHD editing and I don't need to maintain a large uncompressed video database.
Any comments on using Premiere Element 10?
    Thanks for the tips anyway!

  • GOES Utility not recognizing 60D camera

Does anyone have any idea why the EOS Utility is not recognizing the camera when connected to PC. All functionality are greyed out.

    Hello E092176,
We are glad to assist you with downloading images from your camera to the computer using EOS Utility.  Windows XP is used as an example, but the procedures are mostly the same if you use Windows Vista,or Mac OS X.
Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable supplied with the camera.
    - Set the camera's Auto Power Off settings to [Off] before making the connection.
    - Please see the related information for how to connect a camera to a computer.
Set the camera's power switch to <ON>.
    EOS Utility starts automatically.
    - If EOS Utility does not start automatically, click the [Start] button, then select [All Programs] , [Canon Utilities] , [EOS Utility] and then [EOS Utility].
    - If you use Mac OS X, click the [EOS Utility] icon registered in the Dock. When the [Welcome to iPhoto!] dialog box appears, click the [Decide Later] button. If the iPhoto starts at this time, quit iPhoto.
    - If a screen for selecting the program (application) appears, select [Canon EOS Utility] and then click [OK].
[start the operation for downloading images.]
    - To download all images saved in the memory card, click [Starts to download images] in the EOS Utility window.
    - By default, the downloaded images are sorted into folders by their shooting date, and are saved in the [My Pictures] folder on the computer. If you wish to change the destination for the downloaded images, click [Preferences] and specify the settings in the dialog box.
    - If you click [Lets you select and download images], the images saved in the memory card will be displayed in the EOS Utility window so that you can select the images to be downloaded. For the details, please see the "Downloading selected images" section below.
The images are downloaded to the computer.

  • Cannon EOS 40D and a MacBook Pro OS X Yosemite. My Mac is not recognizing my camera anymore

My Mac recognized the camera last night and imported the pictures I took. This morning, I cannot upload new photos. (I did drop my camera, but it works fine -THANKFULLY - so I am not sure why that would make a difference). My Mac is not even recognizing that the camera is plugged into it. I went into ulitities and my camera is not showing under the USB when it is plugged in. I have put in a new battery in my camera and rebooted my Mac and nothing is working. I appreciate any idea you have on how to fix this!

The cameras are fairly rugged and can take a few knocks (they're not that fragile)... but obviously there are limits.  So if the knock or drop was hard enough, I suppose it's possible that you've damaged the camera.  Does the body show signs of physical damage (did it fall hard enough to damage the body?) If you are using the Mac's "System Information" utility to check the devices connected via USB then it is important that you connect the camera BEFORE you start the "System Information" utility. This is because that utility only scans the connected devices when it is started and does not re-scan if devices are connected after starting.   There is a menu option under "File" -> "Refresh Information" (or press Command+R) to refresh if the camera was connected after starting. If the utility does not show the device then something is wrong with the connection (e.g. loose or bad cable, bad port, bad hub etc.).  I have gone through a number of external USB hubs with my own Macs.  It took a while before I finally found a hub that worked reliably.  I would frequently have devices that would show up in the device list when DIRECTLY connected to my Mac, but would NOT show up if connected to a hub (even "powered" hubs).  For this reason, if you are having any connectivity issues, please make sure that you are connected the camera directly to the computer. Remember, there are no drivers needed for the device to show up -- so if it doesn't show up it is not a software problem. As a backup plan, it is possible to directly import the images from the computer into the computer without using the camera.  I think the 40D uses Compact Flash, but you can get an inexpensive Compact Flash reader (I have a Lexar USB 3.0 reader that has both a CF card slot as well as an SD card slot.)  This is actually my preferred method to perform imports because direct reading from the card is faster than transfering via the camera's USB connection.

Don't be! Keep in mind that these forums are analogous to an emergency room - there's a much higher proportion of sick people...ummm, I mean computers/iPods...in here compared to the general population. The millions of users without problems simply don't post "it works great!".

  • Compaq PC running XP Pro SP3 see my new iTouch as a camera, not an itouch

Does anyone have a solution to my problem? I have completed all of the standard troubleshooting tips but my iTouch is being recognized as a camera/scanner device.

No problem. It looks like we may be getting somewhere. First, check to make sure the *Apple Mobile Device Service* is installed and running on your system as described in this Apple support document.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567?viewlocale=en_US
Otherwise, I would work through each of the recommended troubleshooting steps provided in this article. I know you have already uninstalled and re-installed, but make sure you follow the steps provide to do it completely.
