Itouch will not complete step 1 of sync process

iTunes comes up and it recongizes the iTouch and starts the sync process but never completes (not even overnight) step 1 (backing up) of the sync process. We have this set for a manual manage music and videos.
The other iTouch we have (same model and set up to manual manage also) has no issues with the sync.
Looking for how to 'fix' the first iTouch so we can complete a sync.

Welcome to the discussions,
your saved backup for this ipod touch maybe damaged and iTunes can not read it anymore. Go to iTunes/settings/devices and delete the backup, but make sure you select the right one
Making a copy of the backup folder is also a good idea, in case you'll have to use it again.
The location for the folder is here: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • HT204406 My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. Many songs are "waiting"

My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. I have over 700 "items" designated as "waiting." I have restarted multiple times but it stalls at this point.

I've been reading all these comments about how match is not working and people are having problems uploading all their songs.  My problem is more basic than that.  When I open iTunes I immediately get the spinning color disc of death and I can't do anything at all.  I can't go to the store.  I can't listen to a song. I can't do anything.  I just tried to sync my iPod.  I pugged it into my computer, iTunes started up, looked like it was going to sync, then the spinning disc again.  So forget match; I can't do anything, nada, nothing.   I even tried to send my iTunes application to trash, but I got a message saying I couldn't do that because it was needed for OS X.  Talk about a do loop, this is unbelievable.
Is anyone else having the problem I am having?

  • HT1386 My iPhone 4S will not complete the sync process with iTunes. The sync process will not complete Step 3 of 6 (Preparing to Sync).

My iPhone 4S will not complete the sync process with iTunes. It hangs up on Step 3 of 6 (preparing to sync). Prior to trying to sync the iPhone I updated iTunes. Any suggestions?

I've already tried unplugging the iPhone and restarting my computer - twice.

  • My ipad 2 will not complete it's sync.

First of all, I've had complications for a while, (I haven't synced for probably six months) but I'm tired of not having the music that I want on my ipad 2.  I have the latest updates, and I don't receive an error message when I attempt to sync but it does not sync my music.
Also when I go to "Transfer Purchases from 'my iPad'" I receive this message:  The iPad "my iPad" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish.
I've rebooted my computer.  I've rebooted my ipad.  I've reset my sync history under Edit -> Preferences->Devices (as recommended in a previous feed that I read) to no avail.
This complication arose around (I believe) when the ipad came out with a new update a long while back.  I just haven't dealt with it until now. I was afraid to update the software because it said I needed to transfer my purchases (or risk losing them) prior to the update.  However, I couln't transfer the purchases because, as I mentioned above, it wouldn't transfer because the sync session would not complete its sync session.
    Please help...anyone.
    Thanks.

Nobody is dying to restore a device, but I've done it several times and I never had to reorganize my apps or folder structure. I'm not saying that the folder structure will not blow up on you if you restore, but it hasn't happened to me....yet anyway.
You restarted the iPad but did you reset the iPad? I would also close all apps on the iPad, then reset the device, restart the Mac again and then try to sync again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Iphone 4 will not complete sync, stuck on last step

Updated iPhone to iOS 5.1 the other day, now iPhone 4 will not complete the sync cycle.   It gets stuck on step 7 of 7, waiting for artwork to sync.  I am running this on a Windows-based machine, and while I have synced daily in the past, I have NOT synced my contacts list and the like.  I do NOT want to Restore my phone at this point; I'd like to see if there's a fix out there for this problem first as I don't want to have to rekey in all my contacts.   Restore is last resort.  I have tried everything that has been suggested (that I can find), but I am not technologically inclined and many of the answers have to do with Mac rather than Windows. Can anyone out there help?

My iPhone is recognized by iTunes.  The issue is that it will not complete its sync cycle.  I have tried searching for other resolutions, but I haven't found anything similar for a Windows system, only Mac.

  • My iTunes library will not completely sync to neither my iPad nor my iPhone -- both are completely updated with the latest software. What do I have to do?? When I try to do the "autofill" option when connected to iTunes it says "no songs can be copied"

My iTunes library will not completely sync to neither my iPad nor my iPhone -- both are completely updated with the latest software. What do I have to do?? When I try to do the "autofill" option when connected to iTunes it says "no songs can be copied"...I literally bought some of these songs yesterday on my iPhone and now I can't sync them to my iPad. What is this issue? Usually I would just have to plug either device into iTunes and everything would sync, now nothing new syncs.

On your iPad tap Settings > Store
Switch Books off then back on then reset your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • My MacBookPro (mid 2012) will not complete the boot process. Yosemite's progress widget gets about 1/3 to 1/2 way across when the logo disappears and the screen goes all white for 10-15 secs or so, then the machine shuts down and restarts.

My MacBookPro (mid 2012) will not complete the boot process. Yosemite's progress widget gets about 1/3 to 1/2 way across when the logo disappears and the screen goes all white for 10-15 secs, then the machine shuts down and restarts. This sequence will repeat seemingly forever unless I shut it down manually.
I upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion a couple months ago, skipping Maverick completely, and I've done any associated updates that Apple told me about. I don't recall which version of Yosemite I have, but I'm sure it is the "latest and greatest".
I've tried re-starting in Safe Mode / Safe Boot and that does the same thing as described above except without the endless restarts. Instead of restarting at some point, SafeBoot proceeds to the white screen and then it hangs until I restart it manually. (I've waited as long os 20-30 minutes with no response).
When I tried the option-command-p-r key combo I never get any chimes or other noises besides the original 1 time boot sound that you would expect to get when starting up a macbook pro.
I was using the mac quite normally (meaning I was doing work I normally do on it and there was no indication of anything wrong) immediately prior to this happening.
The machine is BootCamp(ed) with Windows 8.1 which I use from a VMWare virtual machine instead of natively so that I can have both OSes running at the same time. I also think this is unrelated to my problem. I have been using this setup for more than 2 years.
My upgrade to Yosemite was uneventful and I thought it went well and was very smooth. I don't want to lead attention away from Yosemite, but at this point my problem does not seem related to the upgrade.
    Any help is appreciated.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I've updated to iOS 5 and now my itouch will not sync.

    Hi There:
My hard drive crashed and has recently been replaced.  I've downloaded some new songs from iTunes but now my itouch will not sync.  It states something about, "sync failed to start" but doesn't state why it failed.  I would really appreciate any ideas of what to check for.  I'm not really good at this.

  • File exports stuck at 95% will not complete exporting process in Final Cut  X or Compressor.  Is there a fix?

In Final Cut X and Compressor 4 when outputting files the processing stops at 95%, and will not complete the job.  This happens with all of various export options except export media to a QuickTime file.  Anyone have an idea what could be causing this problem?
I have the most current iMac running the latest version of Lion.

I have tried everything, including starting threads here on the Apple Discussion Boards and on Creative Cow, etc. The 95% STALL is a bug.  What I have done is to create a hard drive with LION on it, then, when I want to use Compressor I reboot from that hard drive in Lion and then Compressor works fine.  It is a Mountain Lion issue, that is when it all started for me.
I thought the new update to Compressor, 4.0.5, would solve this and was really bummed when it didn't.
It would be great if someone (APPLE????) could figure this out......!!!!!
