ITouch will not shuffle songs

My itouch will not shuffle any albums or playlists but rather repeats the first song played endlessly. Even when I select an album, the itouch will play the first song over and over.
I did a restore when this happened before (about 2-3 weeks ago), and the shuffle option worked again, but this time, the restore did not fix the problem with the shuffle option or with the songs playing moving to the next selection.
I have the latest ipod software.
Perhaps there is an ipod setting that I do not know about.
Help will be much appreciated!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Make sure you haven't got repeat set. Tap the repeat button on the left hand side under the time elapsed until it's either blue for repeat playlist or white for no repeat. If it's blue with a 1 it'll just repeat the same song.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    Hi Nannohelp,
If you are having interface issues with your iPod nano (won't shuffle), a reset has not resolved it, and you have all your music available in iTunes, you may want to try restoring your iPod to factory settings, reloading the music from iTunes, then testing the shuffle function. • IPod Classic 120 will not shuffle songs

I  have a classic that has decided it will not shuffle through a play lis automatically and manually?
    Any thoughts are welcome

What happens when you try? If you start a song playing, what happens when the first one ends?
How did you turn on the shuffle feature?
Did you set it to shuffle songs or albums?
Are the songs in the Playlist set to Skip when shuffling?
What do you mean it will not shuffle through a play lis automatically and manually ? What is automatic shuffle; what is manual shuffle?

  • Itunes will not shuffle songs

I can't shuffle songs in a playlist anymore. I used to be able to do it, then one day it just stopped. I clicked the icon, went to "control-shuffle songs", held down the alt button and clicked the icon, and even hit F5 as stated in the trouble shooting guide. Still no shuffle. Any suggestions? This isn't an idpo issue, its an itunes issue.

Thank you for posting this problem and solution. I had the same problem and couldn't find much help elsewhere. I tried your solutions and would offer a slight change that made it worked for me.
I completed steps 1 through 6. Then iTunes tried to sync with my ipod shuffle. It wasn't communicating with the ipod so the software was frozen for several minutes. I switched to Device Manager window to "Scan for hardware changes" and the iPod showed up under Storage volumes, but with a yellow circle with an exclamation mark in it. Clicking on the device properties showed that it was not working properly. After iTunes finally gave up trying to synce and reported the "Required disk cannot be found" message I returned to Device Manager and uninstalled the device (ipod). Then I followed the directions in step 7. to "Scan for hardware changes". Windows automatically installed the hardware, but then wanted me to reboot. The first time I pressed "Yes". That was the wrong choice. The second time I pressed "No". Then I followed step 8. and returned to iTunes and the ipod was working again. I deselected "disk use", switched to the content tab and clicked on Autofill and it worked.
    Thanks again for your solution.

  • Iphone 4s will no shuffle songs but instead keeps repeating whatever one starts playing first. How do I fix this?

Recently my iphone 4s will not shuffle songs. I go to songs and then click shuffle and it randomly picks a song, but instead of shuffling to another random song when it is done it repeats the song over and over. What do I do to fix this?

You must have repeat turned on.  To turn it off, while the song is playing, tap the cover art to reveal the additional controls (see photo below).  Then tap Repeat until it turns white (white is off, blue is on).

  • My iPod touch will not shuffle or move on to the next song on an album/ playlist. Is there anything I can do. It has had very little use even though I've had it for 2years.

Can anyone help with an iPod touch that will not shuffle or move on to the next song on an album/playlist?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I am using iOS 8.1 on the iPhone 6 and my music will not shuffle.  It will play one or two songs then go to the home screen and stop playing music.

I updated my iPhone 6 to the latest iOS 8.1 and now my music will not shuffle.  It will play one or two songs but then shut off and return to the home screen.
Anyone else having the same issue?

Then back it up and do a restore.  If that does not work and if you are still under warranty, call Apple tech support or take the iPod to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

  • Touch - songs will not shuffle

My songs will not shuffle even tho I touch "shuffle" in the playlist. Keeps playing the same song over and over. It has worked previously but it seems like it stopped shuffling the last time I upgraded software.

This is the fourth time I have answered this ... and the other day it happened to me...
When the song is playing, there are 3 icons showing. (See ipodtouchscr.jpg.)
I bet you hit the first one -- the repeat song icon -- by accident. If it is blue instead of white, it has been engaged. Touch it again to turn that off!

  • I've updated to iOS 5 and now my itouch will not sync.

    Hi There:
My hard drive crashed and has recently been replaced.  I've downloaded some new songs from iTunes but now my itouch will not sync.  It states something about, "sync failed to start" but doesn't state why it failed.  I would really appreciate any ideas of what to check for.  I'm not really good at this.

My iTouch will not show movies, but they are showing on my iTunes.  When I try and play them through my iTunes it freezes on me and does not work.  This problem only occurs whenever I am using my netbook.  It doesn't happen when I use a different computer.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and am not sure what else to do from here.

You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.
