ITour says missing fonts?

Running iWork 2.02, tried to open the iWork Tour doc. Got the error message of Missing Fonts:
GillSans
HelveticaNeue
Cochin
HelveticaNeue-Bold
Optima-Bold
GillSans-Bold
Optima-Regular
Didot
Palatino-Bold
GillSans was already on the HD, so I used FontBook to install the (Adobe) others, but couldn't find Didot. At any rate. These should have been installed with iWork, but even after a FontBook install, quitting and reopening Keynote to run the iTour I get the same message. What's going on?
G5 Dual   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Kyn, unfortunately clearing the ATS did not solve the problem. The iWork Tour still claims the missing fonts. I am a single user running 10.3.9, so not sure if the ATS fix was Tiger only. At any rate, sure would like to find the answer!
As an example, using spotlight to find Gill Sans (which iTour says is missing,) it is there under Library/Fonts folder. The fonts menu in Keynote also shows all the GillSans fonts (Adobe Open Type). When a new slide is opened up, and the text tool used to identify what type is on the Master, Keynote does not identify the type. Yet of course I can change it to "Gill Sans" or any of the type listed in the Font window.
This means that whatever kind of Gill Sans and Helvetica Neue or whatever fonts are supposed to be part of Keynote either did not install, or perhaps have a conflict with fonts already part of the Library? Keynote just doesn't see them, or can identify it's native master slide fonts.

  • Newly installed font but document still says 'missing font'

    Hi!
When I opened a Pages template that was sent to me for work, it said the font Dakota was missing. So I proceeded to download the font and it is now in my Font Book. However, when I tried opening the document again, it still said the font is missing. Whats weird is that when making edits, I see the font Dakota under the list of fonts and am able to choose it. How do I fix it such that when I open the file, the font Dakota will be used automatically?
Appreciate any help on this. Thanks!!

Have a feeling the alphabetical order may strange like mine on that font. Did they tag the menu name to have Adobe bur invisible, not sure.  Also Check for the calssic menu name not matching font name of "ITC New Century Schoollbook".

  • Missing font in iweb "seville"

Trying to edit iweb from 2nd mac, I transferred domain.site2 from original mac (where everything looks fine and is editable)to a thumbdrive, then dragged to corresponding folder on my second mac. When iweb opens the "seville" font is missing.  I looked in the font folders and it is nowhere to be found

    Thank you for your help.
I understand it "should be on that machine too".
That is the problem.  It's not.
Yes, the font shows up on other computers as well.  Because I used "seville" and it is NOT a web safe font I had to use the trick where you apply shadow to the text and basically make it a picture file in iweb.
At home I have the last gen mac mini.  I used to keep my G5 tower at work and edit the iweb page between the two by transferring the domain.site2 file with a usb stick.  Had no issues.
I sold the G5 and have replaced it with the newest generation iMac.  This is the machine that is not locating the "seville" font.
When opening iWeb the page loads but as soon as I click on one of the pages to edit it says "Missing Font" "Seville".  "To include missing fonts, add them to your fonts folder, then quit and reopen iWeb".
I have 30+ pages and use the Seville font as a link on EVERY page.  It is NOT an option to use another font.  Can't I just download the font from apple and put it in the folder?  This seems like it should be really easy...
Is the Seville font incompatible on new iMacs?  That doesn't seem likely.  By the way, my page loads accurately when I open it on the internet from the new iMac
    Thanks in advance

  • Missing fonts in CS4 – how to install?

    Hi all,
Apologies for asking a question that I've seen posted and answered, but I'm wondering if there is a simpler solution than the plug-in suggested.
I have lost a few of the fonts I regularly use. They appear in Font Book and are enabled, but they are not available in InDesign. The missing fonts are available to me in other programs (e.g Word) so they are definitely on the system.
I was given advice to check in Home > Library > Application Support > Adobe > InDesign > Fonts, but there is no folder called "InDesign" within the Adobe folder of that path, so I don't know if that was good advice.
Of course (always the way, isn't it?) I've noticed this problem one week out from my deadline to the printer, so would really appreciate resolving it quickly.
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrew

Well, if your goal is to make the problem go away without
understanding it, thus reducing the liklihood you'll understand the
cause and prevent it from recurring in the future...
"Sometimes they get sleepy" is an attitude that really bothers me at a
deep level. Programs shouldn't break. And when they do, we should make
the effort to understand why they do. And report those problems back
to the manufacturers, who should be given the opportunity to fix
them. Even if we think they won't.
Programs break for reasons. Sometimes complicated and tricky
reasons. Sometimes reasons we can't actually figure out. But sometimes
reasons that we can. And we need to take the effort to figure out
why. Or at least try to a reasonable effort.
It is our moral duty. Otherwise the programmers who author the
software will have no opportunity to fix the problems, and thousands
of user across this green earth will be forced to deal with the same
problems we deal with regularly, for years and years, all because no
one was willing to take the minimal effort to figure out what was
    broken and why.
Don't lie down and say "oh, it just broken again, I accept that i have
to jump through this hoop to fix it periodically." That's just not the
way it should work, and it doesn't have to be that way.

  • Missing fonts in InDesign CS4 - even when 'open' in Suitcase Fusion 3

Hi all, I'm running InDesign CS4 on a Intel Mac Pro (tower), about 4 years old, running OSX Snow Leopard (all updates applied).
Using Suitcase Fusion V3 for font management.
I have a document that previously had no font issues at all.  Now when I open it InDesign throws up a 'Missing font' error.
I have the correct fonts installed and 'open' in Suitcase Fusion.
The font is available in Simpletext and Pages, but not InDesign and Illustrator.
The troublesome font was OK the other day and has been since it was installed.
I've not changed anything that I'm aware of... but now InDesign won't 'see' the font.
In the 'Find Font' dialogue box the 'Path' says it's 'Unkown or missing'.
InDesign can see the other weights in the font family (bold, italic etc) but not regular.  And yet the entire font family is in the same folder on my hard drive.
I've tried deleting all the' Adobe.lst' files.  No Joy.
I've run Font Doctor on the whole font family, its says it's OK.
    I've tried re-installing the font from a back-up.  Nada.
If anyone has any suggestions..... feel free to let rip!
As ever, I await your expertise and unstinting knowledge in these matters   And, needless to say, I'll be mighty appreciative for it!
    RP

Hi Bob, strangely... I've put the troublesome font, Dax (T1) Regular, in the Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Fonts folder and it seems to be working.
Never had to do that before.
Would be great to get back to 'normal'.  If possible.
Although I have many duplicates spread across back-up drives and collected artwork folders, I've also tried to eliminate any duplicate 'open' versions.  But the above solution is the only one that works at the moment.
    RP
p.s. I also tried removing any AdobeFNT**.lst files, (where ** is a number) before the above work around.  That didn't work either.

  • Missing fonts in cs4

    Hello All,
I have installed CS4 on my XP desktop after uninstalling CS2 completely and I am now having some font missings from the applictation.
Although the font name like "Arial Black" already exist on the PC but its not finding it. When I open an existing Indesign CS2 file( I am getting an error message saying few fonts are missing and then a find a font box coming up with missing font names marked with yellow !.
I dont know how to add these fonts back into the CS4.
Someone advised me to delete all "adobefnt*.LST" files but this did not work either for me.
Please can you advise how to do this?
    Thanks
    S

Fonts are never unloaded when installing software. In the case of Arial Black, go to Arial, and see if Black has been added to the Arial family (where you see Bold, Italic, etc.). As well, Adobe software will sometimes sort files differently than other applications, so look carefully though the list to see if the ones you are missing are sorted somewhere else.
Fonts are often loaded with software, and probably this has happened with CS4 (I am on CS3). You might have gotten new versions of some of your old fonts. This could cause the problems you are seeing in ID. I think you can just tell the files to update to the new versions, if this is the case.

  • Missing fonts in PDF placed in InDesign

I was sent a PDF to make slight changes to it. Since the changes were so minor and relatively few, I thought it would be easiest to just place the pages of the PDF into an InDesign document and put white boxes over what needs to change.
I just noticed the Preflight panel says I'm missing Arial and Times New Roman which I know I have. I tried doing "Find Font" to replace the missing Arial with my Arial, but "Change" is grayed out so I'm thinking the fonts must not be properly embedded in the PDF.
I'm not sure if they have the original document the PDF came from (and if they do, it might be in Word). Is there a way I can fix this either in InDesign or with Acrobat?
Or, if I don't fix it, do you think that the missing fonts will not print properly?

You might be able to embed these fonts properly in the PDF. It isn't always successful, but in Preflight, open the fixups section and use the selection as in the screen shot. Then relink/replace the PDF in ID.

  • Missing Fonts in PDF rush print job!

    Question:
Have a brochure supplied by client that has missing fonts, I do not have these fonts.  I have to open the brochure in Illustrator to do alteration as no bleed was included in artwork.
Illustrator is going to use a substitue font which is of no use at all. Customer is unavailble for a few days, they have gone bush, and the brochure needs to be printed by the time they get back.
Job has to be done no if's or but's what do you do??
    Please help!

What you don't do is use Illustrator!  Hard to say without seeing the job but what I'd do is place it in Indesign and try and add the bleeds from there.  Mostly you can place it on a page the same size, copy, paste in place, crop it to a sliver of the edge of the page and then stretch that sliver to give you fake bleed.  Even on pictures!  Try it and see!
If it is a picture my next step would be to open it in Acrobat and try and make two PDFs, one with the background, one with the rest.  Then combine them again in Indesign, leaving the rest the same size but enlarging the background.  Much easier if you have Enfocus Pitstop Pro, but maybe possible with the Acrobat Object Touchup tool.

  • Missing fonts in PDF or not?

I have an InDesign document that has a linked and placed PDF in it.  When I go to export the InDesign document, it gives me the error "Missing Fonts: The following fonts aren't currently available."  It then lists the PDF document, and the fonts missing.  It then exports the PDF anyways, and the PDF looks fine.
The strange thing is that when I go to Package in InDesign, it says that no fonts are missing, and that all are embedded.
So which is it?  Are the fonts embedded or not?

    Two additional potential font gotchas:
    1) It's changed location in the menus from version to version of Acrobat Pro, but there's a setting "Use Local Fonts" that can trip you up. If it's checked, and you have a PDF that uses (for example) Garamond Premier Pro, but that font is not embedded, then Acrobat will use your installed copies of Garamond Premier Pro to display the PDF "correctly." If you take it to a computer that doesn't have that font installed, the PDF won't "look fine" as you say in your initial post.
    2) If a font is used in the source document and is not embedded in the PDF, Acrobat will try to fake up the font using the fonts that are directly installed in Acrobat. (At least it used to work this way, I don't know if it has changed recently.) So, when you go and look at your PDF and decide it looks fine, take a really
    close look.
The strange thing is that when I go to Package in InDesign, it says that no fonts are missing, and that all are embedded.
The font check when you package only looks at fonts used in the InDesign document itself; it doesn't go looking for the fonts used in placed PDFs, AIs, etc.  Also, when I try an experiment with a test document with a placed PDF with a font that is neither embedded in the PDF nor present on my system, InDesign complains when I place the PDF that the font is not embedded in the PDF, but there is no notice when packaging the file. What's more, the packaging process doesn't say a word about whether or not fonts are embedded in placed documents, so when you tell us that Package tells you that all fonts are embedded, I wonder where you're seeing that.

  • Missing fonts warning when adding pages to a book

I have a book with 13 documents added and 105 total pages. I have 10 master pages set up, and each time I add (or delete) pages to a document, I get warning: "The document <doc>.indd needs to be updated but has missing fonts. It may recompose with a default substitute font and result in inacurate page numbers. Do you want to continue updating numbering?"  If I click OK to continue updating the numbering, sometimes an extra page gets added somewhere else in the document. Preflight Book is not showing any errors and I also tried looking at the preflight panel in each of the 13 documents. Neither says anything about a missing font. How else can I find it? Thanks!

It could be in overset text (though preflight should see that) or in a style not currently in use. Are you sure the priflight profile is looking for missing fonts, bucasue is really does sound like there is substitution ocurring. Also, have you looked in Type > Find Font.
If none of that is fruitful, I'd try exporting each of the documents to .inx or .idml, then opening those and saving as new .indd docs. Add the new docs to a new book and see if you still get errors.

  • InDesign CS6 + Yosemite + Copy/Paste = Missing font

We use ITC Franklin Gothic throughout all of our pieces; it's installed and it's the default font setup. New and existing files have opened without issue until now. I opened an advertisement that needed to be resized, from our shared server and copied the contents. In a new document, I pasted the contents suddenly the font says it's missing. The images retained their links to the packaged folder on the server, the fonts just stopped working. I closed InDesign, then disconnected from the server in case there was some kind of conflict between the local font and the server font override from the packaged fonts folder (packaged from the local font installed, I made the source ad this same way). Loaded the new file, and got the expected missing links dialogue, but unexpectedly the fonts were still missing. I reviewed the missing fonts, and it was the entire family. I opened Suitcase, verified the fonts are active. Still no fonts in InDesign. Okay, disactivated font in Suitcase (maybe it needs an update), installed the font in Fontbook, need to get the ad done and I don't have time for this. Verified font works by opening a different file, making a new document, but as soon as I opened the ad with the missing the fonts, fonts go missing. I then changed the fonts to a different family, and tried changing them back, but the font doesn't even show in the list of fonts. I can't figure out why this particular method of copy and paste breaks the font. I've opened and created other files with this font family active, while this copy/paste file is open at the same time in another tab while it still says "no". The only work around I could use was to copy the entire packaged folder from the server to my desktop and just change the document properties to the size I need, then adjust the artwork to fit.
I'd like to find a resolution as to why copying and pasting broke this font even though the same missing font works fine simultaneously in a different document. Any suggestions/questions/thoughts/solutions would be very welcome.
    System specs:
    27" iMac (Mid-2011) 3.1 GHz i5
    32 GB RAM
    1 GB Video
    10.10.2
    Adobe InDesign CS6 8.1
Update: Looking through the font list, Franklin is being listed as a different font. Though the character palette, the font selected is ITC Franklin Gothic Std Book; the font listed in the Type drop-down menu is Myriad Pro, and once that was deactivated, Helvetica.

i don't see how that could be the case because I originally installed the font, created and packaged the ad, and the font is available for typesetting in a new document while this problematic document is open without being connected to the server.
I upgraded to creative cloud 2014 and this particular document is still a problem. This font issue is limited to this sole document. I'm guessing it has something to do with the copy and pasting. Tomorrow, I'll try replacing the font to something else and then copy/pasting it in the same way if it recreates the same problem with a different font.

  • Missing fonts/printing files

    Hi there,
Does anyone can give some advise? About why I am getting a messages on my screen when I am saving a Illustrator file, saying that I am missing two fonts.
    - I have tried to convert the text into outlines, but even though, is still showing me the messages of the missing fonts.
-In the other hand, the printer in order to avoid the same problem, is asking for the next information:
Please, send us the printing files (this is to say, all the information that our supplier needs to print the packs)
Since we have got a part of this information (pdf attached), our supplier needs a file with the types to prepare the printing  process.
The fonts required are : FrutigerLTCom-BoldCn and RilloHeavy
    Any ideas?

well the font is not allow to be embedded unfortunately
    - I am using the CS6
    - My type fo file is Adobe Illustrator Artwork 16.0
    - I am missing the fonts when I am saving as a PDF file.I have been told that for them is easy to check the file in this way. Do you think I should change the way that I am saving it?
    Thanks

  • Placed Pdf in illustrator missing fonts no warning

I have placed a pdf in illustrator that has embedded subset fonts. In illustrator the fonts display wrong but I get no warning that fonts are missing. When I click on the substituted font the type panel shows it as the correct font name. Are there any cases of a file with missing fonts not displaying a warning? If I save the file and reopen it I do get the font warning.

Possibly there are different versions of the font. The name may be the same, but the document could refer to an older/ different version and only when you save does that info get updated. Hard to tell without actually seeing the Doc. What does Acrobat say exactly about the font? Is there a doifference in that info when you re-create the text locally from within AI and save a PDF with the same options?
