  • Itunes 7.02 not working with 4gb nano

I have a 2ND generration Nano that Itunes 7.0.2.16 refuses to see. I have the issue on multiple computers, including a brand new unit I installed Itunes on only for testing this
When connecting, Itunes will auto start as if it recognized the Nano was connected, but it never shows up as a device in Itunes.
If I put it in Disk mode, Itunes will see it as a device and immediately connect to it, giving mw the option to update or restore. I did this updating the Nano to version 1.3 of the firmaware AND did a full restore, but the problems still exists.
Windows see's it as a drive and can access it.
I have tried the 5R's and a new synch cable.
I have tried changing the Drive letter to no avail.
I can format it and Itunes will briefly see it, telling me a restore is in progress.
Everything is fine on the screen (no sad faces etc)
    Any Suggestions?
I have slo tried the 5R's and a new synch cable

I would assume that this is an iTunes bug and not a
problem with the ipod. If the ipod were faulty then
it would seem that it would not be seen by the
computer or iTunes regardless of what mode you had it
    in. Have you tried this?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716+
I had tried some of those, but not all. Since the unit exhibited the same behavior on 3 PC's and a mac, I was sure it was a IPOD problem
I took it to the Apple store and they replaced it. Hooked it up to her computer. Said "It doesn't work here either" and gave me a replacement. The new one worked great.
Even if it doesn't do WMA files or work with Windows media player (hint hint), this policy makes the Ipod better than any other competitor!

  • HELP ... TROUBLE WITH 4GB NANO

Hi, I got an ipod nano 4 xmas and has worked fine till recently. It didn't work, and when I tried to reset it (menu+select) it comes up with the apple logo and then it fades out with lots of white, fuzzy lines ... and now, it doesn't even do that anymore sometimes ... HELP !!!

All the 600 odd songs on my "broken" iPod are from my old computer which I don't have anymore. If I restore the iPod, I will lose all these songs so should I restore it or am I better off giving it back and getting a brand new one?

  • Which itrip works best with the nano 7th generation?

Which itrip works best with the nano 7th generation?

If you have a budget over the 90$, i schould go for bose "in ears", they seems to produce a really good sound quality (even the basses) and they filtering the noise around you.

  • Wich one of these or any FM Transmitter's work with a NANO?

I am looking for a good FM Transmitter and i saw this Monster iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter for Apple iPod with Dock Connection at Best Buy and i was woundering if it will work with a NANO, this transmitter is Ipod Mini compatible.
If not then there's also the iCarPlay without the Dock Connection, then there's also a Griffin iTrip mini FM Transmitter for Apple iPod mini and Belkin TuneBase FM Transmitter for Apple® iPod mini.
So which one of these would you reccomend and are they even compatible with the NANO?
If they are compatible then i would like one from the 3 i have listed above since i can get a really good price on them at my work.
    Thanks in advance.

Whoa, nelly! Hold up. The iTrip will NOT work. If the transmitter uses the remote port then it will not work with the nano. The nano does not have this port. The iTrip uses this port - it's how the iTrip gets power.
The other transmitters do not use this port. They should work. If you have questions and want a definitive answer email the companies. In my experience the people at Griffin are REALLY nice and sort of amusing. I don't know about monster or belkin but I'd bet they'll answer your questions, too.
I'm waiting for griffin to make an FM transmitter for the nano, too.
The monster one looks like it will work.

  • Will IPOD 4th generation Charger work with IPOD Nano

    Hi
My son has a 4th generation IPOD (20GB) which came with the standard IPOD charger. My wife has just bought an IPOD Nano (4GB). I just want to check whether I can use my son's charger to charge my wife's IPOD Nano. I don't want to risk damaging my wife's IPOD Nano in case the IPOD and IPOD Nano are rated differently and require different chargers.
    Thanks

Yes, you can use that charger with the Nano.
    It will work just fine.

  • Resetting The Volume Limit On A 4GB Nano

The iPod history in my family goes like this: when my daughter was 12, I bought her a Shuffle for Christmas. She loved it, used it often and I saw her with it more than twice over that year, which to that point was a miracle for ANYthing I bought her for Christmas, birthday, etc...
So, the next year, I bought her this 4GB Nano for Christmas. As a side deal, I gave her $20 for her Shuffle and I became a subscriber to the iPod culture.
Last week, I won an iPod Touch, and looked at this prize not as mine but as my stepping stone to my Nano, planning to give the Touch to my now-14-year-old daughter.
This transaction happened and yesterday as I downloaded my tunes into my new Nano, I noticed that there is a volume lock. Being a fan of The Who (the band which I believe still holds the record for loudest rock concert), I had to reset that to the highest level possible. When doing so, I found there is a lock code, a four-digit security setting. Great, I thought . . .
So I asked my daughter for the combination and she said that that was something she had been trying for a long time to remember. She then said it is the combination to her seventh-grade locker. I asked what that is and she said she couldn't remember. I got a little miffed and complained to her about the bad deal I was getting in this (you know, this is the acting job part of parenting where the kid is supposed to learn).
Anyway, the big question is, is there a way to re-set that combination without knowing the combination? Thank you for any insight; you are my only hope!

To reset the combo, you will need to select the iPod in iTunes and click Restore.
This will format the iPod and reinstall the iPod OS.
Then just sync the music back to it.
Being a fan of The Who (the band which I believe still holds the record for loudest rock concert), I had to reset that to the highest level possible.
Ask Pete Townshend about that but you better speak *L O U D L Y* because he's pretty much deaf from that.

  • Just got new 4gb nano-where can I get dl for 7.4 version of itunes?

I just bought the 4gb nano, we already have the 30gb classic with 7.3 version of itunes but I need 7.4 or higher for the new nano. I checked the forums and I noticed all of the problems people are having with 7.5 so I want to dl the 7.4 version but I can't find the 7.4 version in the apple downloads. I have a Windows xp and I'm not sure if I have a service pack requires for 7.431 or whatever the one before 7.5 is. Can anyone give me a link to dl 7.4 and let me know if there were any problems with this version? I'm not even sure how it works after I dl 7.4. Will I have to remove the older version and re-install or will it automatically upgrade? I am nervous about losing all of my songs in my library or having problems since I am not that comp savvy. Can anyone help?

  • 4gb nano will only accept 285 songs

My daughter was helping me set up and download songs from my itunes library on my computer to my new 4gb nano. The screen says 285 songs from my computer are over 5 gigs. What's the scoop? New nano and just downloaded software. Should hold up to 1,000 +/-. Is there a way to scroll through the library to check the file size on each song? How do I solve this problem?
    thank you, new iPod user

it also depends what format you copy the songs into iTunes. If they're copied in Lossless format(specifically Apple Lossless) they take up like 15 to 35Mb per song!!. I had same problem with same iPod Nano 4G and tht was the problem. the best format is MPeg audio files.

  • 4GB Nano, cannot get 1000 songs

I have a 4gb nano, currently 73 songs are taking up 1.81GB of memory. Most of my songs are imported through iTunes from my personal CD's. What am I doing wrong?

Your songs might not be in a correct format, taking up more space on your iPod than usual.
    See this for details:
My song files are too big for my small iPod
If everything seem to be appering okay with how the file format and encoding is, etc., then try restoring your iPod.

  • 4GB nano repeatedly killing Monster iCar, Griffin, now iFusion?

I bought a 4GB iPod nano in september with the Monster iCar am/fm stereo adapter off the apple website. I set everything up per the instructions and it worked fairly nice for roughly 3 weeks and then one day the iCar adapter stopped transmitting anything, the ipod continued to recieve a charge through it and the stereo went from static to silence when the ipod was plugged in, just no music, no matter any volume.. ok, return - replace. Also, tested friends iPod with it and got same behavior - he has had his own monster iCar for an ipod mini going on over a year now no problem.
While waiting for the Monster iCar stereo adapter to be replaced I ended up picking myself up a Griffin stereo adapter which I liked better with the telescoping arm.. again, 3-4 weeks of flawless playback and then suddenly one day exact same behavior - silence, no sound no matter volume. replaced the griffen easily at target and the new one worked.. now the second one stopped working one day. worked the next day and then hasnt worked since. its dead all over again.
At this point I'm beginning to believe I have extremely bad luck with my car stereo adapters. However, for Xmas I also recieved an iFusion portable speaker system to use while im at work. in the past several days it has become flakey, sometimes it will not work once the nano is plugged in and I have to wait awhile before trying again and its fine.
I've reset my ipod nano a few times during all this, yes i'm positive i've checked my volume settings, i've tried other ipods with the same devices and once the device is dead, its dead for everyone. I cannot see any damage to the connectors. in every case, the ipod continues to recieve a charge from the device, just no music. with the stereo transmitters(griffin/monster), the device is clearly transmitting since turning it on results in static to nothing and yes, i've tried changing the stations it transmits on.
has anyone else seen this? are all these accessory devices for ipod truly flakey? is the nano really killing things? perhaps a voltage problem? I realize the Griffin did not specify it was compatible with the Nano explicitly but the Monster was sold on Apples website as a nano accessory and the iFusion advertises compatibility... but still, any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

I got A 4GB nano for x-mas and bought a monster icar for it and it worked for one week. After that it does the same exact thing you are going through. If you find out anything please let me know. I also went and swapped mine out for a new one and it has never worked so I am screwed. Please HELP!!!!!

  • Video issues with new Nano, can anyone help?

I recently bought 'South Park' from the i-tunes store to play on my 3rd generation Nano. Unfortunately when i try to sync it with my nano it says 'video format not supported', other downloads work fine but i-tunes have provided no information when downloading tv shows. It feels like i am flying blind when downloading, is there anything i am doing wrong?

Did you by any chance try to convert video within itunes? There is a choice to do this. Also, you can also contact itunes customer service.

  • I have just pre ordered the new iphone 5 it didn't give me an option to tell them what carrier im with? will it come with a nano sim?

I pre ordered an iphone 5 this morning, (first time i have ordered from apple) it didn't give me an option to select a carrier? is this normal? will it come with a nano sim if it didn't let me tell them what carrier im with? i dont want to get my new phone and not be able to use it
    thank you.

They've created a new SIM for this phone--the micro-SIM.  Different SIM tray and all.  If you ordered from Apple.com selecting the carrier was step two of the process.
iPhone 5 confirmed to use nano-SIM, current SIMs not compatible.
The "Micro SIM" is too large to fit in the iPhone 5.

  • IPod Click Wheel games compatible with ipod nano 5th Generation

I've found the iPod Click Wheel Games by clicking the triangle that appears next to the "App Store" tab and clicking the third option, "iPod Click Wheel Games." But when I look at the details of any of the games it says they are compatible with:
"This game is compatible with iPod nano (3rd and 4th generation), iPod classic, and iPod (5th generation) only. It cannot be played on your computer, nor is it compatible with other iPod models or iPhone."
Does this mean that I cannot use them on my iPod nano 5th generation? or is the iPod nano being referred to as "iPod (5th generation)"
I guess it just seems silly that a game is only compatible with older versions or that the newest iPod nano can NOT operate older games.
Can anyone explain this? or has anyone tried to download one of these iPod Click Wheel Games and found that it actually Does work for an iPod nano 5th generation?

    Can anyone explain this?
I can't but Apple should be able too - U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

  • Please help me with my Nano P

I recently purchased a Zen Nano Plus and am having difficulty getting my laptop to recognize it. When I connect it via the USB it takes an ungodly long time for it to appear in my Windows Explorer (although I get notification in the lower right of my screen that it's connected). After say 30 minutes of waiting, it finally appears but I can't transfer music or anything. I was finally able to get the firmware update (which I saved to the desktop) to connect with it. Then I got some sort of error message in the process, but it did appear as if the firmware was updated. Last thing I did was reboot and try to connect it again. Nothing appears on the little display panel, I cant even turn it on now and it's not being recognized by my IBM Thinkpad at all. I'm using a USB hub, but I even tried connecting to a USB card and no success at all. I just purchased a Vision:M at few weeks ago and had no problems whatsoever. I initially installed both softwares on the same dri've but put the Nano plus onto another hard dri've in case there was a conflict. But the only conflict I'm having is w/ the Nano plus.

Looks like there are a lot of us experiencing this kind of trouble with the Nano Plus. I've noticed that when I uninstall the USB 2.0 drivers for my motherboard (Intel 865PE chipset), the Nano Plus works perfectly (although painstakingly slower because it reverts back to USB .). Install it, and the problem occurs. I read somewhere in the knowledge base that certain chipsets from VIA, ALI, Intel and Nvidia have problems working with the Nano Plus. Whether it's the fault of the Nano Plus or the chpset, Creative isn't sure (but that's too many chipset makes against one device... makes it kinda obvious, doesn't it's) Looks like this thing will give you a good time only if you have the right PC for it. Otherwise, might as well get another player.
