ITS 620 Multiple Agate

I have installed ITS Version 6.20 Patch 16 on Windows 2003 as a dual host installation therefore have the Wgate instance on 1 server and the Agate server on a separate server. For load balancing and redundancy purposes I would like to create another Agate instance on a separate server. I know that this functionality can be achieved however not sure how it is configured as I can not find anything within the ITS 620 Installation guide or the Trouble shooting guide, it just mentions that this functionality can be achieved.
From what I have read (Oss notes 352136, 740404, 375065, 505241) and other related information I believe that I just complete the Agate installation on the new server, however keep the same Instance and Virtual ITS Instance name, then ensure that my ITS service file entries for the system are the same as the Wgate. Is there any additional configuration which is required on the Agate server?
My point of confusion is when initially installing the Wgate, it asks if you would like to have multiple Agates, however only asks once for the Agate server. As I now have 2 Agate instance on different hosts where do I put the information for my second Agate server? I have read notes however these are specific to ITS 4.6D and it suggests that I have to edit the wgate.conf file, on ITS version 6.20 this file just points to C:\Program Files\SAP\ITS\6.20\config, within the config directory I have several xml files. Am I to edit the ItsRegistryWGATE.xml on the Wgate server and add the additional agate? Currently I have :-

Thanks for your help, this seems to resolve my issue, however I have a related problem which I wonder if you can shed some light.
I have server A which initially had 2 ITS single host installations. The ITS instance was for my R3 connection, the second is my Admin client for ITS, so the Agate and Wgate are on the same server. On server B I have created a new Agate instance with the help of your advise. This is currently only for UAT, in Production the setup will be different, however I have a small problem now. Both Agates are running on server A and Server B, however when I go to my URL for ITS admin
I can see that I have Agate loadbalancing and I can see that I have 2 active Agate instances, 1 one server A and one on server B. I can see all my configuration via ITS admin and stats, however when I select to view the config, stats for server B I get under server b (Go to Native Adm), when I click the link I get "The page can not be displayed HTTP 500 (I can see on the URL I get:-
http://servera:85/scripts/wgate/admin/!?~agate_routing=serverb
I have found Oss note 584695, but this problem is only for ITS 610 and resolved in patch 23, I am on ITS 620 Patch 16.
Do you have any ideas ?

ITS 6.20 - Multiple AGATES

Hi,
Could someone please send me a sample copy of 'ITSRegistryWgate.xml which has multiple Agates.
I have setup 2 Agate servers and a seperate Wgate server.
I did modify the Wgate.xml to include both Agates & Wgate.
When I check the Loadbalance via the ADM, it displays both
the Agates, but the 1 Agate has the status 'polled'.
(obviously connection problems)
I have check the etc/services file and it does contain
the correct ports on both the Agate servers.
Am i missing something in my Wgate.xml file ??
Do i also need to set the Multiprocess to 'yes' to cater for the second Agate ??

Please check the wgate traces for any problems:
Most common problems are:
DNS could not be resolved
(Agate MM) Ports on wgate are incorrect
Port mix-up

NO, this is when you use "multiple process" Agates i.e. loadbalancing on process-level at the agate side.
Did you run a couple of sessions (with renewal of the browser) before looking at the "wgate-status"?
There is a trick to test if wgate loadbalancing is working in general; just semi LB on the same agate.
Just use the agate hostname as logical name and as an IP address. Afterwards you can replace the correct values (host, ports) for the other (foreign) agate.

ITS 620 Template Cache - unlimited memory consumption

Hi,
   We have patched standalone ITS 620 to 23 to resolve some issues we have with
the display of ITS screens via the Mozilla browser. However, we are now encountering memory issues where the Agate process is consuming much more than is allocated via the threads and sessions values.
   With patch 23 we can now see the template cache value and it consumes all the free physical memory on the machine. The 'Cachesize' parameter is set to a much lower value than this:
   Can anyone tell me:
1. Is this behaviour correct for this cache?
2. How do we disable the cache?
3. How do we restrict the size of the cache?

Hi Conor,
ITS development is not aware of memory issues with PL 23.
The memory the template cache allocates does not depend on the "Cachesize" parameter. This parameter is for RFC connections of flowlogic services.
If after PL 23 you have Mozilla user you haven't before this would explain the increase of the template cache memory consumption. For each browser and language the amount of memory in the templates cache increases.
You surely could disable the templates cache but this would hit performance (switch parameter StaticTemplates to 0 in ITS Admin - <Your_Instance> Configuration - Performance). On each template access the template would have to be parsed again. This switch is intended for a development environment only.
The best you can do is to setup ITS server on 64-Bit OS and 64-Bit ITS 6.20 executables. On 64-Bit you can forget about memory issues due 32-Bit address space limitations.
If you this is not possible you have to reduce the memory by
- forwarding requests with specific languages to specific ITS instances
- forwarding request from Browsers like Mozilla to a specific ITS instances
- checking peak values in ITS Admin Overview and tune parameters MaxSessions, MaxWorkthreads accordingly. Be carefull!!
SAP note 720428 gives you advise about the most important ITS 6.20 parameters.

SSO between ITS 620 R/3 and EP

Hi,
I need to use ITS 620 for R/3 4.7 and EP 6.0 for ess/mss implementation
I have to configure SSO between R/3 and EP.
Do I also need to configure SSO between ITS and R/3 , ITS and EP also for this?
If yes can any one tell me the steps in configuring SSO between ITS and R/3, ITS and EP ?

UPDATE:
I have installed a portal (SAp netweaver 7.0 Java stack) and have connected it to a ECC6.0 SR3 backend and I needed only to configure the SSO between portal and backend abap instance, and all worked fine. There was no need to configure the SSO between the integrated ITS and abap instance.
About the error message mentioned in my previous forum entry:
I did not only do the steps for SSO between portal and backend as described in the blog "Configuring the Business Package for Employee Self-Service (ESS)", but I also did all the additional steps as mentioned in "10 golden rules of SSO".
After that the error message "SSO logon not possible; logon tickets not activated on the server" did not appear anymore. (Instead a screen that asks for username and password always appears with the warning "No switch to HTTPS occurred, so it is not secure to send a password". But I think that's ok.)

ITS 620 - how to create a service file for SAPGUI for HTML option

We have the following configuration :
ITS 620 installed
IIS webserver
NTLM Authentication on webserver
SAP 46C
We have some reports that use the IACs option of creating ITS reports and we are able to create the service files using webstudio where we can save a service id and password so that when the ITS page is called, it logs on the user directly into the system.
Now, we are trying to create a new ITS page for a custom Z transaction and would like to use the SAPGUI for HTML option so that we do not have to use Webstudio to create and modify the HTML pages.
When I call the ITS page for the new transaction, it brings up the logon screen for the user, which we want to avoid. If I create a new service file for this Z transaction without any HTML pages then I get an error.
Is there a way to copy the WEBGUI.SRVC file to a custome SRVC file, I tried to create to copy it to a test file called ZTEST.SRVC for my test transaction called ZTEST and now I get an error.

You can create a service file, like ZSERVICE.SRVC. The parameters should be:
~webgui 1
~transaction ztransaction
~client 001
~login username
~password password
~language EN
The "~webgui 1" allows the ITS to use the Webgui to dynamically generate the page (no IAC needed.)
The "~transaction" is the transaction code of your service.
The "~client" is the client number.
The "~login" is the username.
The "~password" is the user's password.
the "~language" is the language for the users.
Note that the last four are required for automatic logon. If end users use a variety of languages though the ~language can be prepended to the URL to support different languages. (Leave it blank in the srvc file then.)

Tree Control - Performace - ITS 620

Hi,
Am using a tree control in our web application created using
class - CL_GUI_LIST_TREE with checkbox items.
When a user checks the item , it went to hourglass for 2 to 3 mins.
Can you please let me know, is there any fine tuning is required
at code level or is there any parameter setting at ITS Level.
We are in ITS 620 and R3 4.7.

ITS 620 Installation

I need to Install ITS 620 in W2K machine. Need to remove older version i.e., ITS610.
I executed ITS 610 uninstall.exe. But I found that there is still ITS610 files...
How to clean these files...Kindly any one help me out at here.

It has been a while since I had to touch our ITS machine but, when I did, I did a full format and reinstall of Win 2000 SP4. I think there were some old registry entries in there and rather than take time to find them all I just built it up from the bottom up. That was about 3 years ago.

Problems installing ITS 620 patch level 23

I'm new here and my question is probably silly.
I'm going to install another istance of ITS, we have already installed an ITS with SP19, but now we are using a Windows 2003 WebEdition server SP1.
When I launch SAPinst for the first time, it ask me for LABEL.ASC files location for the "ITS SP14 CD FOLDER (ITS_SOFT)".
I tried with the current one of the installation package that I'm using but dosen't work.
I tried with original CD from SAP package (it contains a ITS_SOFT folder), but it hanswerd that:
You entered: C:\50083078_6\ITS_SOFT\LABEL.ASC Found the label ITS:ITS:ITS Software:620:: but need the label ITS:ITS:ITS Software:620SP14::
The problem is that I can't find on service portal that ITS version he'i askin for.
Please anybody have same problem, or better a good solution?

did you already try to run 'Prepare new installation' it's an item in the
start->programs->SAPInst menu.
After running that, the installation should work.

ITS 620 Patch 19 - ESS iviews (PZ13 etc) show initial WebGui screen

We have EP6 SP12 with the ESS Business Package. All the ESS iviews were working until I upgraded the ITS 6.20 to patch 19 (I think this is when the problems began). Now, any ESS iview that does not have an IAC service in the R/3 system (for example PZ13 - Personal Data, PZ02 - Addresses), the iview shows the WebGui start screen (the one with the "Start SAP Easy Access" button) rather than the IAC screen.
If I access the IAC through ITS directly (i.e. using the http://itsserver:port/scripts/wgate/pz13/! URL) I can access the transaction, but the IAC iviews do not work.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Did you restart the ITS Instance? The setting i mentioned is correct, it worked for us. Here is the SAP note number, Sorry i don't have the note number,just saved the text.
Symptom
After installing ITS 6.20 patch level 19, some enterprise portal iviews of type WebGui are connected successfully to the backend system, but show SAP easy access menu, instead of an appropriate start transaction screen.
Reason and Prerequisites
A defined ITS start transaction (~transaction) is not processed when using SSO ticket to logon to a backend system.
Other logon methods like User/Password, do not show this behavior.
Solution
Problem is fixed with ITS 6.20 patch level 20.
To curcumvent the problem in ITS 6.20 patch level 19, please set
~popupsduringlogon 0
in the ITS global servcie file and restart the system

Does ITS support multiple sessions ?

I am unable to get another session in ITS through typing '/o' in the transaction code field.
Is this is a limitation of ITS ?
I can open another browser window and log into ITS. But this creates another user login which is against SAP licensing policy.
Can some one please suggest a work around this problem ? Thanks.

in the accesslog i can see the service the session-id but not the userid
i have in the accesslog any entries with user-ids behind the services but
the most service entries have no user-id
now my question:
why gives there entries with and without user-ids ?
give another way to find out which user have which session id

sorry the title performence.log is wrong the right log is diagnostics.log
i have 2 its in different landscapes with the same patchlevel, configuration and so on. in the access.log in landscape 1 i see the userid and then i know the sessionid
and i can search for errors in the diagnostics.log with the sessionid (s02F98328)
in the lanscape 2 i can't see the userid and i don't know which session has which userid.
exist there a problem ?
have i make a mistake in the config?
can i find out the userid in a other way?

Single ITS server, multiple ERP

Hi Guys,
After a little advice as to wether a standalone ITS (on 6.40) can link to mulitiple (3 in this case) ERP 4.7 instances. The scenario is I need to look at a way to get WEBGUI access to all three system... is this possible or do i need three ITS servers for for each instance (or run three ITS instances on one physical machine?)

the three possible methods are:
- three different physical machines (makes sense with a high number of concurrent users)
- three different instances on same machine and each ITS instance name should be the same as the ERP's instance name. (this is the most common setup with lower numbers of concurrent users)
- three different copies of service file webgui.srvc, e.g. webgui_SID1.srvc, webgui_SID2.srvc, webgui_SID3.srvc. But you would need to copy all the different connection parameters from global.srvc into those service files too.
Method 3 is OK in test or development environments. For production environments you want to monitor and optimize instances separately and then methods 1 or 2 can be used only.
As soon as you are using a Portal you should also use methods 1 or 2.

Dear Gurus
Does anyone know of any reason the above would not work? It is an intermediate stage of a larger migration and would reduce the number of phases in the project.
Later on we can upgrade ESS to the latest version along with the R3 backend.

To ensure a smooth transition from "standalone ITS" to "integrated ITS". SAP ITS 6.20 is also compatible for connecting SAP Systems based on SAP Web Application Server 6.40. SAP ITS 6.20 can NOT be used for connecting
SAP Systems based on SAP Web Application Server 7.00. Attempts to log on to such a system with an ITS 6.20 will be rejected (see note 905135 for more information).
However it is possible to integrate applications driven via an ITS 6.20 Installation into an SAP Enterprise Portal which is based on NetWeaver 2004s or higher (as long as the SAP System the ITS 6.20 connects to is
based on SAP NetWeaver 2004 or earlier releases).

SAP Internet Transaction Server (SAP ITS) is integrated into the kernel of the SAP Web Application Server 6.40 as an Internet Communication Framework (ICF) service called the integrated ITS. If we are using SAP WAS 6.20 we need to configure this externally.the integrated ITS is accessed through the Internet Communication Manager (ICM).
