Its a bummer, but what can i do now?
So I received my new macbook over the holidays, and it has been working perfectly. Up until now.
The optical drive has decided to quit on me! I had literally just put on Microsoft office mac on my laptop, and then went to add some music to my library, and the drive isn't working. It loads it fine, then spins the disc at a high speed, then stops, then starts to spin it again. It repeats this until i press the eject button enough times to have the disc finally eject. I tested it out with many discs, and it does the same to all of them, with difficulty ejecting. Once and a while it will read a disc, but for the majority of the time.... nothing.
Looking at some of the other entries, most people have gone to the apple store to get the drive replaced. I was wondering if I have the same issue as these people, or if there is an easier fix than going down to my local apple store?
Before you give up and take it back try one of those cleaner CDs you can buy at Stapples. It sounds like your laser lens may have gotten dirty and can't read the disks most of the time.

What can i use now instead of iweb?
I know Apple did away with iweb some time ago, but what can I use now to create a simple website using mac templates?
Apple have not 'Done away with iWeb' as you put it. They are no longer supporting it and no longer upgrading it, but this DOES NOT mean that you can't still use it to create websites with.
Apple stopped supporting it sometime ago now, but it is an application like any other that you have and if you have it on your Mac, then you can still use it - it works with both Lion and Mountain Lion and if you want it you can still get it, but you'll have to purchase it from Amazon as part of either the iLife 11 or iLife 09 boxed set.
If you really want to use other software, which you don't need to take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Express and Pro 6, Flux 4 and Quick n' Easy Website Builder. Most, if not all of these have free month long trials where you can download and try before you buy.
As well as these, you have other options such as the online web site builders such as http://www.wix.com or http://www.weebly.com, or the CMS's (Content Management Systems) that you can install directly on your host/server and include http://drupal.org and http://joomla.org amongst others.
Rage software are also producing their own version of iWeb called EasyWeb - however, all first reports would seem to suggest that you won't be able to purchase this software on its own when it is released - it will initially be tied to Rage web hosting, so you would need to purchase this first to be able to use EasyWeb.
However, if you still have iWeb then use it for as long as it works and don't look elsewhere. Just because iWeb is no longer sold or supported by Apple does not mean that you can't still use it - you most certainly can. -

my iPod touch 5th generation had white screened an it won't let me rest it by holding down the home button an the power button for ten seconds I've pulled it in to iTunes an its not being detected what can i do as its starting to over heat?
If you can't get it to shut down or restart when holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons and you can't get it recognized in iTunes to restore it, the iPod may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to go to Apple for service. Someone else here may have additional suggestions, though.
There is no "fifth generation" iPod touch, by the way, just for the sake of clarity; not yet, anyway.

Or you might need to contact Apple : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
If it then works on your computer's iTunes but not your phone/iPad then try logging out of your account on the phone/iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it -
I have restored the settings on my iphone and now after entering the pin on my sim card it wants me to connect it to iTunes but when i try it just says my sim card is not supported... what can i do now? It worked fine before...

Did you boot to the Internet Recovery Partition?
Here’s how:
1/ Make sure your computer is completely shut down.
2/ You’ll have to be quick next: Press the Mac’s power button. As soon as you either hear the loud chime, or see the display light up - usually after a second or 2 - on your keyboard press [alt] + [cmd] + [r] Keep these keys on your keyboard pressed until you see a spinning globe with the text “starting Internet Recovery” You might have to connect to your Wi-Fi network before you can continue here.
After a few minutes, you’ll be presented with a Utilities screen. This is the Internet Recovery partition. If this step is already giving you problems, try using a USB-keyboard. It doesn’t have to be an Apple-keyboard. If you have a Windows-tailored keyboard laying around, use the “Windows-flag” key in stead of the [cmd]-key and it should also work.
3/ Choose Disk Utility and click [continue] -

I know this doesn't explain what is happening, but it will put your mind at easy when on holiday.
