WHat is the difference between having:
a. Agate with multiple processes
b. Multiple agates
Does any one have any best practices that they are currently using for setting up their ITS strategy?

Difference is in the kind of scaling/loadbalancing!
with multiple agates (on different hosts) the wgate takes care of the loadbalancing and failover.
with multiple agate (sub)processes the MManager (Agate Mapping Manager) distributes the load over the Agate processes (on the same host).
Of course a combination of both is also possible.
The strategy depends on the load you are expecting, please rever to the ITS installation and tuning guides for an estimation/calculation.

ITS Agate needs restarting

I am using ITS 620 patch 16 on Windows 2003. I have 1 Wgate and 2 separate Agates on two separate servers.
I have a problem and I am unsure what is causing the problem.
From time to time, approximately every 3 days when I try and access the ITS I get HTTP 500 page can not be displayed. If I stop and restart the Agate service users are able to log back onto ITS.
I am looking through the logs however am unable to find anything conclusive. How can I increase the logging to help me debug this issue.
Currently I am just using what ever the default logging is set to

which suggests that I have run out of workthreads. The default is 40. My agate servers have 4Gb ram and 1 cpu 3.19 GHz. Currently the CPU utilisation is 0 and 2.2Gb of ram is free.
I think that I have to bump up the minworkthreads and maxworkthreads.
Is this what you did ?

Pb : Tangosol cluster member has lost its storage/Questions about warnings

We have the following configuration :
-JVM : JRockit 1.4.2_8
-App Server : Weblogic 8.1
We have a cluster with 4 members in 2 physical machines :
- Weblogic server 1 and tangosol server 1 on machine 1
- Weblogic server 2 and tangosol server 2 on machine 2
The cache mode is Distributed.
The 2 Weblogic servers have no local storage defined (localstorage=false).
The 2 Weblogic servers have local storage defined (localstorage=true).
We are performing some tests in this environment and we display continuously the
cluster members information.
Today, the Distributed cache on Tangosol server 2 left the cluster at 16:19 and
data seem to be transferred to the Tangosol server 1.
The main problem is that the Tangosol server 2 is always running but has no longer storage enabled (information we display).
This information is also available in the server logs :

Since yesterday 16:19 in Paris (till now, I do not restart the node that has no longer storage), we have tangosolCount=4 and tangosolStorageCount=1.
The Tangosol servers are started (com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer) with the parameter -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=true.
I confirm that yesterday at 16:19, there was a high GC time. Heap sizes are set to 128Mo.

AGate.exe does not return memory + ITS Upgrade

I'm using SAP 40B(too old!) and ITS 6100. 1021. 53. 153 (too old, too!!!!!).
However, AGate.exe process does not return used memory.
So when process reached memory limitation (about 1GB), Then I must restart ITS Manager.
Question 1> Is this a matter of session closing? My configurations are like below..
+ Performance
     - MaxSessions : 6144
     - MaxWorkThreads : 60
     - MinWorkThreads : 8
     - TimeoutPercentage : 75
   + Global Services > All Settings
     - ~usertimeout : 24
     - ~timeout : 20

I do agree, ITS 6.10 is much too old, right Nobody is able to
support ITS 6.10 anymore, even if we would be willing to do so.
I would suggest to upgrade to ITS 6.20 which can of course be used
to connect to your 4.0B system.
ITS 6.20 should be run on a 64bit platform where you can forget such
memory limitations, though I recommend to find out why the ITS-Agate
uses such a huge memory amount.

Extracting Service Ports (ITS) and Application Server (SAP)

Can any one pls do let me know how i can extract the information of the port number of Service (AGate) "sapavw00" and ITS Manager "sapavwmm" , Without goijg to the Service file under root/windows/system32/drivers/etc.
I want to extract these information from SAP system only using some T-code.
how can i do that?? and if i know the name of the application server of system running on remote host, how can i get its IP address?? say for example name is "I90external"

pl be aware of the fact that SAP system is running on the Remote Machine. I have ITS Installes with a Instance name I62 on my mchine. i installed the Wgate part on my machine (i.e. dual host) not the Agate as SAP system is running on the remote host.
Now I want to use IACOR Admin Tool. the service is already running and there are no entry in the connection of the IACOR Admin, so i want to create a new one.
on pressing new button. i entered the ITS instance name I62 (which i prepared as Wgate part) and the Web server (hosting Wgate).
my confusion is that what should i fill up in these values.................
ITS (AGate)=
R/3 Name=
Group?
Message Server=
I know the Name of Application server i.e. I62production, System ID i.e. I62, System Number i.e. 09
the question is from where i should extract the value of R/3 Name??? and Message Server of the SAP system running on the Remote Host.

Please help.... New MBP and its a disaster

I bought a MBP i5 4GB in December thinking that it would be a high performance machine, I would at least expect it to do the basics in a reasonable amount of time. Trying to play a youtube video today in Safari and it stalled more than 10 times even though the video is fully downloaded, DSL is 15MB line connected over 802.11N with a perfect signal. MBP is generally slow stalling between applications, hanging.
Ive had a mac mini for about 3 years now and never had any problems with it. Ive been using Windows for about 18 years and really like it but can get a bit boring when you know it inside out.
With Windows, if you fill the partition which Windows is located on to 80% or even 90% of its capacity it will not impact on performance. I have read that filling the Mac drive/partition can have a serious impact on performance, is this true?
Im so disappointed with the performance of my MBP, im ready to smash it to pieces. In an effort to gain the performance im looking for from it, im swapping out the stock hdd for a Crucial RealSSD C300. If this doesn't solve the problem, it goodbye MBP, hello "half the price, twice the performance" machine. Is anyone else having these problems from their MBP? Any suggestions as to how I can improve the performance?
The MBP feels very basic, with no biometric scanner, no eSata and it weighs a tonne. Im sure ive missed a number of features which are standard on the majority of Laptops these days. Another thing im missing a lot from Windows is the ability to call up a Run Prompt (Windows R) type in a command/program (intl.cpl, compmgmt.msc, mstsc, c:\program files\...., \\192.168.1....,cmd, control, etc). I have since come across (Mac Space) for spotlight but I dont think its as easy to have a guaranteed match every time, maybe I just need to get to know what to type to ensure the top hit is exactly what im looking for. I also recently discovered Mac Down/up to move through folders as suprisingly Enter does not open a folder, no it renames it... I think this is an example of Apple trying to do things differently to Microsoft just purely for the sake of being different but failed to consider convenience/efficiency. Its a question of one key or two to do the same task.
The one thing which annoys me the most, is that after numerous revisions of the Mac OS, there is still no cut and paste. Apple's reason being that there is a risk of losing files because if you cut a file then it might be gone if you forget to paste it... Maybe someone needs to break it down for Apple what we mean by Cut, its:
1. Mark for move
2. Copy the file/folder to the location where it has been pasted
3. On completion of the copy, delete the original file/folder
You can drag an item to a new location, presumably because theres no risk of you forgetting to paste it and it becoming lost but you can't ctrl x and ctrl v (Command X and Command V (Just to be different)) in case you forget to paste. MS have had Cut and Paste since the very first GUI and theres no problem with it. I know theres a number of ways of hacking the OS to get this functionality but it should be standard or at least optional.
Im also really missing Windows E for Windows Explorer, why Apple did not just use Mac F for finder and Ctrl F for find within an application??? I suppose it was just another case of wanting to be different and screw convenience/efficiency. The closest thing ive found is (fn ctrl F3) but its not guaranteed to always launch Finder, I guess the only option is to hack the OS again like before to get the move functionality.
Another question someone may be able to answer...
In IE if I type Apple in the address bar then press *Ctrl Enter*, it completes the address to http://www.apple.com . If I try the same in Safari replacing ctrl with Command it does complete the address but in a new tab. Actually, ctrl enter seems to complete most addresses but it seems like theres a web search in the middle? Will it always just add http://www. .com to the contents of the address bar? or is it searching for a closest match?
I was running a Windows 7 VM through Parallels but I gave up on it because of the poor performance, the MBP is so bad its unusable... I have an old Dell Latitude D600 (Dinosaur) which performs better than the MBP.

Well today the MBP just gets even better, it was sleeping and I opened it up to do some work when I was greeted with a notice You need to restart, please hold down the power button..... i.e. Anything you were working on has just been lost. There must be something wrong with this machine?

Video content on youtube is flash based, I dont think VLC or iTunes is capable of playing flash content, this is something I expect of any browser (with a flash plugin of course). The reason I mentioned the speed of the DSL and wireless signal was just in case some Johnny know it all came along and tried to say that maybe that was the issue. Flash video content fails to play smoothly if I wait for it to finish downloading or if I try to play it without waiting. I wouldn't be surprised if someone tries to make out that the problem is Adobe's flash plugin rather than Apple's Browser/OS/Hardware even though the plugins work without issue on a number of operating systems in different browsers. It was 802.11N btw, not 802.11g.

It seems as though all of these articles are referring to the drive being in a state where there is not enough space for the swap file and temporary files generated by the OS which I would expect to cause a problem. It was more when I was looking into the use of a SSD in the Mac that I was coming across information to indicate that the Mac may slow down by adding more files to it, this could be plausible through indexing or something else. From your experience of Macs, do you think this is the case?

I can read the technical specifications. I bought the machine purely for no nonsense performance which it is failing to deliver. My point is that these are standard issue on the majority of laptops these days and for the price point that the MBP is at, I think its poor that it does not have these features. More money for less tech. I could accept the absence of these items if the machine was fast at the basics but it is not.

There is no direct key combination to open Finder by default in OS X. The only way to do it without third party tools that I have come across is:

I. Create a service
1) Open "Automator" - (Search for it in spotlight if you don't know where it is)
2) Double-Click on the "Service" button to create a new Service.
3) From the "Library" menu on the left hand side, click "Utilities"
4) From the list of Utilities, double-click "Run AppleScript"
5) In the main area, there should be a window that says "Run AppleScript". Above it, choose "No Input" next to "Service receives selected"
6) In the "Run AppleScript" window, replace (* Your script goes here *) with tell application "Finder" to activate
7) Click File --> Save As... and save it as "Finder Activation"
II. Create a Keyboard shortcut for the service
1) Open system preferences
2) Click "Keyboard"
3) Select "Services" from the left hand pane
4) In the right hand pane, Scroll down to the bottom. Under "General", there should be "Finder Activation".
5) Ensure "Finder Activation" is checked
6) Assign a Keyboard shortcut by clicking near the right side of the "Finder Activation" selection. The trick is to assign a shortcut that is not used by any of your favorite applications, since application-level keyboard shortcuts will override this.
Seems like a lot of hassle just to get a keyboard shortcut to open the default file browser.

Efficiency is not a matter of opinion, its a matter of fact. If it takes more keys/actions (ultimately time) to perform the same task in OSX than it does in another operating system, that makes OSX less efficient.
Take for example my last point of opening Finder:
The most efficient way I have found so far is to press *fn control F3* then press Enter
An alternative is to press *Command Tab* until you get to Finder, then press *command N*
In Windows, its just simply *Windows E*
When I say Apple is doing things for the sake of being different, Microsoft puts its minimise, maximise/restore and close buttons on the top right of its windows, Apple puts their Close, Minimize and maximize buttons on the top left of their windows. Ctrl C, Ctrl X, Ctrl V..... Command C, Command X, Command V. To be honest you may be right, im only seeing things from one perspective, someone coming from Mac to Microsoft may feel the same way.

Preloader and Document Class BIG question (yeap please help)

I know that this its a question posted many, many times, but
after searching the net, reading a lot of books and searching this
forum too, I cant get out with a solution. If I'd say for sure
there is no possibility to create something like this, I just go
back to old methods but is not the scope of Adobe with AS3 to
encourage the use of OOP principle or not?
The problem:
I have a single fla file (AS3) with a single frame on
timeline, frame that its there when you will create the file with
flash. In the library I have different symbols, that for simplicity
are only jpg image, (BitmapData) checked for export for
ActionScript and exported on frame one. An external .as file called
DocumentClass its off course my Document Class
This its all that I want to do with the fla, the goal its to
create, animate etc. only with AS3 in external classes, no timeline
script. I don't want to load external files, XML, or else in this
movie. I just want a single swf after compilation, no additional
files.
Ok, how do I create a preloader that will take care of
starting the logic after the whole swf its loaded and in the same
time shows the user a percentage or a load bar or something that
its not the blank screen when the swf its downloading. I want to do
this without another swf that load this swf, or timeline scripts,
or place all the content on second frame and then gotoAndStop to
the third frame. All this are not solution but cheap tricks, that
are against all this OOP principle that I just continue to read in
books and here from guru programmers.
The big question is:
It is possible to create a preloader, when use a document
class with your fla? And if yes, how?
I know that the Document Class its not instantiated if its
not fully loaded, if that's true when the document class will be
fully loaded? maybe after the whole movie its loaded? And, if its
true, it will never show a percentage bar "while" the movie its
loaded. And if that's true WHY use a document class anyway?

I am pretty sure you cannot do self preloader with one frame
and all the objects in the library. I guess the key here is
one-frame design. Screen refreshes (renders) only when all the
scripts in the frame are executed - this is a very important thing
to understand about how Flash works. Yes, you can force screen
refresh with updateAfterEvent() method but it is attached to a
handful of events only (MouseEvent and TimerEvent) but, again, all
this functionality is available only after first frame scripts are
executed. Thus, it seems like the only way to create preloader from
within SWF is to use multiple frames and set library objects to
load in later (not first) frame.

Well, preloader is the last thing that would be on my mind in
terms of using AS3 ability to link DocumentClass to the top movie.
This feature allows for very sophisticated architectural
approaches. It has no connection to preloader as to any other

gotoAndStop is not deprecated. It is a valid MovieClip class'
method. After all, having only one frame doesn't mean not having
frames at all - there is one already. Frames are fundament of
Flash. AS3 did introduce frameless entities like Sprite, etc. but
it doesn't mean that frames are going anywhere.
I would agree that timeline code is inferior to
classed/packaged (read: better organized) code but, still, how is
it not OOP? Frame is an Object, right? Why using timeline is cheap
and not a solution?
On a side note, I see too many times how some authors (and
managers) are pushing their agenda (or close mindedness) onto their
audience with no real substantiation. Claiming that timeline in
Flash is not valid architectural decision from OOP standpoint is
totally wrong. As wrong as strict adherence to design patterns. I
don't think there is sharply defined "right" or "wrong" in
programming. One finds the best optimal solution. The goal is to
create something that works fine. Unless, of course, the process is
the goal - but very few of us can afford focusing on the process.

Basic Question on Copy and Delta link which one to use when?

Its basic question
My understanding about copy and Delta link is
Copy doesnot ahve direct relationship with source object (but it acts as a sibling) any changes done to spurce object does not affect target object.
Where as Delta link will have a parent child relation ship between source object bacially its a copy of source and inherits id properties. in case if i change source object does this affect target object, we can delete, add content to delta link target object.
let's say if i want to use standard quickpoll iView do i need to use copy or delta link similarly for other iviews, worksets, roles which one will be better.

Yes, your understanding is right.
Case 1 : Copy
A- Object
B- Copy of A
Both of them are independent.Any changes in A are not dependent on B and vice versa.
Case 2 : Delta Link
A - Object
B - Copy of A (via Delta link)
Any changes to A are reflected in B, as A is a parent and B a child.
But B would be an independent entity.Any changes to B would not effect A.
When you use either of them, depends on your need. When you are working with standard iviews or roles or workset, you can do a copy of the original, because in most cases we would not make changes to the standard roles or worksets or iviews. There by eliminating the process of making a delta copy.
But, if you are dealing with the roles that you have created and want to make a copy of it, you can use a delta link, because, even if you want to add more iviews and worksets to that role, they would get reflected when you make a delta copy.

Questioned status in Fault Management for Cisco Prime 4.2

Hi all,
Need help in Cisco Prime 4.2. My device is stuck in Questioned state in Fault Management. The device though can be pinged from the server. Actually, I can already manage the device and have archived its configuration. Problem is, on Fault Monitoring Device Administration, its on Questioned state even though I already tried to rediscover the device several times.
Do I need to configure something on the server like put in the IP address and hostname of the device in the host file of Windows Server 2008?

If for a particular device then Are you using SNMPv2 or SNMPv3 on your device ?
Disable the Windows Firewall and ANTI-Virus on the serevr and Rediscover the device again.

We had a very similar issue. We found the reason to be that the user node was being reversed replicated before the profile node was created and profile properties saved. Our solution was to add a property to the user node (e.g. useraction=created) which we added after the user and profile node has been created successfully. Then using a workflow launcher we look for the property being set using the Condition (useraction=created) and a Event Type of Modified, triggering the reverse replication workflow that way.

Regarding the tutorial part, there are api in the "Dynamic Help" box,
What i did was extracting the java doc into my desktop for easy reference. JSC's screen is too small.
U can find these references under "C:\Sun\Creator2\rave2.0\docs". Just unzip them

Why did Apple show a price of $199 in its keynote?

I feel it is deceiving that Apple did not mention the actual price of the phone in the keynote
As a loyal iphone user, I can not get the phone at the $199 price.

I don't think its a question of "why didn't they mention the price in the keynote", I think what you really wanted to say is what all of us are thinking and I'll say it for you and the rest of us.
I remember a time when I was with Nextel. I remember leaving them to start a new life with AT&T. Not because of customer service, or the coverage they had... but because the I,Phone was coming out in 6 months and I wanted to be ready. I even paid a pretty hefty cancelation fee. But that didn't matter to me cause I was getting someting that was going to change the way we all looked at cel phones... I was getting an I,Phone. I remember waiting in a long line eating pizza the AT&T store purchased for everyone outside. It was a great experience... it was fun. I remember that feeling when I turned the phone on for the first time. It was a rush.
I remember standing at the counter in an Apple store some time later just to upgrade my phone to a larger GB space. That meant more videos.... more music... more fun.
I remember one year later waiting in another long line for hours just to recreate that rush. I was getting the next generation I,Phone. This was great! The rush recreated all over again. I even renewed my contract with AT&T for another two years just so I could claim the discount. Even though my new statements didn't reflect the claim was twice as fast at half the price. Even though I was paying more in the long run, I didn't care.... I had the best phone on the market.
I remember standing yet again at a counter of an Apple store to increase the GB of my phone. This time.... more apps! more movies! more music! more FUN!
All year long I couldn't wait for that next keynote hoping that all the rumors were true. I remember how disappointed I was when they didn't mention a thing about the new release. Oh my GOD.... no phone this year? I remember coming home from work just to turn on my computer and get the biggest surprise of my life. Sometime during the day, Apple hits us with it.... the new I,Phone 3G S. I'm so there... ready to stand in line as I did before. I even called the Apple store just so I could get the exact time they would be opening so I knew when to be there. BUT, as I sit here now reading... I finally realized something. I realized that what I believed was Apple's number one priority (taking car of those who supported his company, who made the stocks what they are, who stayed reliable customers) was not Apple's priority at all. BECAUSE, if that was the case.... we wouldn't be charge what I'm going to pay next week while standing in line, again, for what I believe to be the best cel phone on the market. Even though I know that all the upgrades and new phone purchases mean nothing to Apple. Even though I know I could say "I'm leaving" and it wouldn't hurt them in the least.... I'll be there waiting to pay the price cause it's what I want and they know it. Thanks Steve
