SRM-MDM Catalog - issue in the Portal (Employee Self-Services - Shopping C)

Dear SAP,
When we quit a web page in SRM-JAVA system, we get this issue in our production system.
We do not have this issue to our DEV and QAS system :

There is a different behavior between our QAS system (working) and the
productive system (not working):
On calling the MDM-Catalog, a short URL is called to open the catalog.
On returning the shopping cart back to SRM, there is in QAS system the
same short URL, but in PROD system there is an URL (instead of a short URL):

Rendering issue in the timeline/canvas

Hello there,
Whenever I try to to manipulate the display of a clip by dragging the image and repositioning the clip by its handles (using image + wireframe mode) in the timeline, I am unable to preview it in real time (requires rendering). What puzzles me is that if I try and do the same with the same clip in the viewer I am able to play and preview in real time. Is there any plausible reason for this?
I've tried to change sequence playback settings to low quality but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will vary from machine to machine (more power = more RT effects in the Canvas/Timeline) but if it's off, turn on "Unlimited" in the RT button in the Timeline window if it's off.

Shopping Cart Approval Preview Issue in the Portal

Hi Everbody
In My SRM Portal, when the approver changes any text or any date like that in the shopping cart it should come for the accept changes to the creator inbox, and when he sees the approval preview it is showing the creators name, but my functinal guy says that the approval person should be there but not the creator person in the preview and when the creator of the sc accepts the changes it is showing that it is approved by the creator name but he says that it should be approver name not the creator name.
so can boby please suggest me in this, thanks in advance.

How to change the ESS objects, iViews and Pages, translation in the portal?

Hello everyone,
I'd like to change the standard SAP translation for iView and Pages in the Portal level. Does anybody knows how to do this?
My landscape is NW2004s and ESS for ECC 6.0

you can change the standard SAP iViews and Pages using the Portal Content Translation feature of the Portal ( go to Content Administration->Portal Content Translation. Follow the instructions at

all ESS iviews and pages have their content "ready for translation" and you can use the instructions above to translate that content.

Change background color of ITS iViews

Hello Forum,
We successfully created our own theme in the portal and used the ITS theme generator to create the ITS specific parts. This seems to work, but we need some more finetuning.
One specific question is about the blue green as default, but we want to change it to green. Any thoughts on where exactly to change this?

In the portal the system object pointing to the new cluster instance needs to point at the virtual node which will always be available. So instead of an alias you use the virtual name of the clustered instance. Also in the configuration parameters remember to use UNC paths (ex. "
virtualservernode\sapmnt\SID\SYS\profile" instead of "C:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\profile".) We have a problem due to this in my company at the moment because it wasnt installed using virtual nodes and UNC paths, but using physical hardware nodes/names, and non UNC paths. So if the cluster fails over, it will be alive, but users would not be able to log on anymore because their links (favourites etc) points to the physcal node 1 of the cluster, and the system object in the portal points to the old node 1. Its easy enough to change the portal system object, but parameters are wrong in the profile too, which is a bigger issue. So please be aware about functionality in the cluster operation, and make sure to implement it after best practise methods so that you can avoid these issues.
Another way of controlling this would be to use a Web Dispatcher in front of your portal so if you should encounter problems you only have 1 place to correct paths etc. So the users would have 1 link to the portal, and you could change whats behind the Web Dispatcher without any user interruption - they still just have the pointer for the Web Dispatcher - as a single point of entrance to the portal. This is a solution I will implement myself Q1 of next year, because I had issues with old saved favourites when I changed our portal environment to run https/ssl. everyone still had the old link for http - and you cant blame the users really, I use favourites a lot myself So I want a single point of entry for the portal environment, nomatter whats behind.

DMZ and the Portal

How to reduce the the scrool bar size in the Portal screen

Hello,
We have recently migrated the EP from 7.0 to 7.3 and after the Upgreade we are facing issue in the Portal screen where the Scroll bar length in the Right Corner side is extended it's size.
Can any one please let me know where & how to reduce the the size of the scroll bar.
Since it's a new upgrade i am unable to get the exact parameter to change related to this Scroll bar Setting.

It looks like a custom masthead on FAT? Debug the issue with the browser tools, adapt your source and re-deploy. Does this occurs also on SAP standard framework page?

UI rendering issue in Skin editor (11.1.2) on Mac

Hi,
I just tried to run the stand alone skin editor (11.1.2) on Mac OS X and noticed some UI rendering issue - All the icon and menu are hidden unless I move the mouse cursor over them. (sometimes they don't even show up if I do so) And every time when I launch the program, I see lots of null pointer exception from "com.apple.laf.AquaMenuPainter.paintMenuBarBackground(AquaMenuPainter.java:140)"
It looks like a platform specific issue, since the Oracle claims Mac is also certified. Is there any work around for that?
Mac OS X: 10.6.7
JVM: 1.6.0_24
JDev: 11.1.1.5 (may be not relevant here)

I just downloaded standalone SkinEditor 11.1.2.1 and had the same problem as you.
I managed to get round it thankfully.
As you mentioned, the menu items become visible sometimes when moving the mouse over them. I managed to find the Preferences menu item and opened it. In the Environment section I changed the Look and Feel from Oracle to Mac OS X. When I restarted the editor came up with no errors.
I don't think the Mac OS X look and feel is as nice though so I did some more digging.
I found a file called jdev-Darwin.conf in jdev/bin that contains Mac specific configuration for JDeveloper. In here I noticed the following line:
AddVMOption -Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=trueAs the error we were getting was to do with menus I copied the line into skineditor.conf and hey presto it works for the Oracle look and feel. The app menus are on the Apple menu bar rather than the Java app window but I can live with that.

We have an application that took a pdf and converted it into a raw datastring to pass to the portal for display purposes.
We have migrated this function to a unicode system and are now struggling to get this to work.
Code in non-unicode system

If we simply download the pdf after we have tun the 'CONVERT_OTF_2_PDF' Fm the pdf created is fine. However when we view the output in the portal of the pdf (as streamed in the raw format) we just get chinese looking (they may well not be any language) characters in the pdf.
With a non-unicode R/3 system the pdf was displayed without any issues in the portal.

Remove Portal Favorites Panel from the Portal

I am trying to remove the Portal favorites panel that appears in the left hand side of the Portal so that we can have more room for the iviews that appear in the Portal content.Can anyone help me how do I disable it.I tried to do some modifications in the default frame work page but didn't work out.

Pass Parameters to T.Code in the portal from aTransaction Iview.

I published a T.code in the portal as a Transaction Iview. This work fine.
I want pass a parameter to this t.code and that the program ABAP can get this value .
I check a suggestion in the post following :

Hi Carmen,
The bottom line is that this cannot be done for transaction iviews without modifying the standard webgui service in SICF, which is probably not a good idea (since it affects everyone using SAP GUI for HTML). (You could hack the appintegrator to add the ~webgui_simple_toolbar parameter to the transaction URL template in the portal, but again its not a recommended thing to do ...). Better to create an IAC service in SICF with ~webgui=1 where you set the required appearance using an appropriate value for ~webgui_simple_toolbar, and then create an IAC iview to point at this service.
You can even override the ~transaction value configured in the new service in individual IAC iviews by entering the appropriate value in the application parameter of the iview, for example:
~okcode=/nSU01
And you can pass parameters in the same way:
~okcode=/nSU01 USR02-BNAME=xyz;USREFUS-USERALIAS=abc;
By the way, it would not be recommended to create a URL iview to access an IAC, since you are likely to encounter session management issues in this scenario - better to use an IAC iview.

Issue with running reports on the portal

1. I have a question regarding running reports on the portal.
2. I have standard web templates that have been installed in BI.
3. But in the portal, we are not able to run these reports.
4. Do we need to create custom I-Views or can we install them from business content?
5. Can someone explain the process to me AND also any other issues that we might have?

Standard web templates doesnot get installed with attached queries.Create custom web templates in WAD and attach ur queries based on the type of display u like either tabular or graphical.In order to diplay in portal you have to attach webtemplates to iViews and then group iViews to worksets and attach to portal roles.Then add those roles to portal users.From BI Prospective u just create web-templates and give technical names to EP consultants if you have any then they can takecare of rest.If you want to call standard web template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN from portal you need to have Business Explorer role added to ur user in EP.Using that template u can only open one query at a time and execute.Hope its clear
