ITS - Webdynpro

Hi,
I am creating a custom workflow in SRM - EBP.
My requirement is from the workitem accessed from approval inbox through web I need to call a webdynpro application.
How is the interaction between webtransaction(ITS application) and the webdynpro application possible without using EP.
I need to pass the workitem Id and other BO attributes to webdynpro application and also update back the approval status to the task of the workflow from the webdynpro.
Please provide me information how to achieve this.

Hello Sandeep,
I am not too technical but ITS & webdynpro technologies pertain to the web interfacing with the application servers i.e.when a user makes a transaction thro' web browser the ITS /Web dyn pro enables to reach the application server and gets back the result/retrieval of the required data in to user's presentation layer.
It is learnt that the Web dynpro technology is faster in retrieval of the data compared to the ITS.

How to set the WebDynpro application title (IE windows title)?

Hello all,
I would like to set the WebDynpro application title according to the current transaction ID. This title is the IE windows title that is shown on the upper left-corner of the IE browser.
Rule: [Object Instance Information] u2013 [Application Title] u2013 [Browser Title]
For example: Trans. <No.> - <My App> - Windows Internet Explorer
I would like to set <No.> dynamically on run-time according to my current transaction number.
I have this piece of code that gets a reference to the application info:
data: lr_app_info TYPE REF TO if_wdr_rr_application.
lr_app_info ?= wdr_task=>application->application_info.
And there is lr_app_info->get_description() method to have the description of the application, but there is no set method.
The application description can be hardcoded in:
tx. SE80, opening the WebDynpro component, then accessing its WebDynpro application. In the properties tab, there is a description field. I need to append transaction ID to it.
Do you know any way to implement this? This issue is for WebDynpro ABAP.

Thanks for your reply. I already had a look into that thread, but my question is not related to the windows title of the WebDynpro component.
My question is related to the title of the Internet Explorer that we all see on the top left-corner. For WebDynpro , this is the WebDynpro application title. How can we change it?

Webdynpro ABAP application on MSS Overview screen

Hi Guru's,
We are having a customized Overview screen in MSS which is all Webdynpro Java application.I am trying to add Webdynpro ABAP custom application link on the overview page.I created a IVEW ,then PAGE, assigned to Workset and then to role .
Copied the PCD location and assigned in the Resources of Homepage framework.
When I do preview it is fine but when I run it through Overview..I am getting 404 page error.
Again its webdynpro ABAP application in the Overview page..What are the steps for it ..I created Area,Subarea ,Services and assigned Resources which has the PCD location with ROLES:// ...
Also in Services I mentioned it as WEBDYNPRO ABAP application.
Please suggest me ay steps I may be missing.

Interaction ESS - Webdynpro - Websphere portal

Hi all,
a question please if you can help me:
Could Websphere Portal interact with ESS through the URL address of its WebDynpro pages ?
do you know something about this argument ?
I know that in the old version, it was easy for a non-SAP portal to work together with ESS, through the so-called PMZ3 menu, which was addressable thorough its URL. Could we work this way with the most recent version of ESS using Web Dynpro interfaces, not using the correspondent iViews ?

Hi, there is possible, but i understand you've to be careful with all the required connections, SSO config, where database user is located, and of course, good servers' capabilities and have ever a good technical background support to face issues.

PCUI vs ITS for CRM applications

Hi,
Using ITS for custom reports and forms where as the standard applications were implemented using PCUI in a CRM Portal implementation is best practise?
General CRM implementations will be having finance data in R/3.What factors need to be considered to decide custom PCUI/ITS/Webdynpro to display FI transactions in portal.

Abdul, I have the following take on this...
1 - ITS: requirement for usage of the html gui and most likely to be discontinued by SAP in the short term.
2 - PC-UI: Seamless integration with SAP CRM but not available for R/3. The best option to bypass this is through the usage of BSP applications.
3 - Webdynpro: A new technology pushed by SAP but not yet integrated into SAP CRM and also still not proven technology.
My recommendation would go to the second option since most of the current development resources have abap skills and understand the SAP framework. Hope this helps and again, is my personal opinion, Tiest.

Whether its Ooffline or Online Adobe Interactive Form and/or whether its WebDynpro ABAP/JAVA you can use the WebService to post data to SAP or retrieve the data dynamically from SAP to fill some fields based on some fields entered.

Popup in VC 7.0

Hi, I'm new to Visual Composer and I'm learning with the SAP guides. In them it is very clearly explained how to create a popup iview but I'm just not getting the option from the contextual menu.
I do everything it says, I insert a form with a push button and a custom event, but when I use the out port of the form I just get options to "add form view", "signal out", "navigate to", "endpoint" and "data user store". There's no option to open a popup as stated in the guide.
Have you any idea of why is this happening? BTW my netwaver version is 2004s sp10 while the guide is for sp12.

Hi,
You would get the option of a pop-up if you have selected falsh compiler under Tools>Option>Compiler and if its webdynpro you won't get the option for pop-ups.
So, change the compiler to flash and you will get the option you are looking for.

Modify Error Response Page

Dear all,
Does one of you might have an experience to replace the standard SAP error response page with a custom error page. Example of such error page is that when a custom web application is stopped, there will be a screen which shows Error 503 Service Unavailable.
I have tried to add the error page through web.xml in the custom application folder, but the error page don't kick in when the application is currently stopped. Thanks in advance

I understand a Webdynpro application is also a j2ee application running in the server with its webdynpro runtime.
However, I do not see a web.xml file.
However, the following files were found, upon searching the file system.
1. Application.xml and ( requirement for a j2ee application ear file).
2. application-j2ee-engine.xml (not sure why WD needs it).
I could not locate the above in any of the WD, J2ee, EP perspectives, but only in the file system.
Questions:
1. Should I need to create a web.xml inside this webdynpro? If so, at what location ?
2. Can I add the above <error-page> tag section inside application.xml ? If so, how to edit this file.?
3. Is there any other approach to insert the http 404 error response?

JAVA Applets from Adobe Flash/MS Silverlight?

SAP has recently announced that it will no longer support
invocation of JAVA applets directly from its "WebDynproABAP" or
"WebDynproJava" applications. (Until recently, SAP supported an
"iframe" UI element that could be used to run JAVA applets from
within WebDynpro applications - soon this will be only doable in
frames within SAP's portal via "client-side eventing".)
However, SAP will be supporting invocation of Adobe Flash and
MS Silverlight from within its WebDynpro Applications.
So here's my question.
From an SAP WebDynpro application, I want to pass parameters
to the JAVA applet "JMol" and have it run in a separate frame.
Since I will no longer be able to call this applet directly from
the SAP WebDynpro application, I'm wondering if I could pass
parameters to Adobe Flash or MS Silverlight and have Flash or
Silverlight invoke the applet for me with the correct parameters.
(I would still only want two frames - the one that the SAP app is
running in and the one that the JAVA applet winds up running in.)

How to launch an ITS screen from an ABAP WebDynpro Button Action

I have a requirement to launch an ITS Screen from ABAP WebDynpro. There will be abutton on the WebDynpro screen and when the user will click on that button, the ITS Screen will be launched.
Can anyone please provide us some sample applications or sample code to achieve the above functionality.

Hi Shyam,
You can achieve by using Launchpad Customizing and the Launchpad Navigation API's. Just make and entry on transaction LPD_CUST, create a launchpad role, add you target application there.
At run time under the UI button you can call the API provided by CL_APB_LAUNCHPAD_API -->LAUNCH_APPLICATION to open the application. You can find many material on Internet for the same, with examples, even try some where-use in your system.

Passing parameters to an ITS Transaction iView Table from Webdynpro Java

I am calling the IW44 transaction from Webdynpro using ITS, and would like to pass a list of Confirmation Numbers as screen parameters. When I pass parameters to AFRUD-RUECK, I can fill one cell, but my question is how to fill up each row as the technical name will be the same?

Conversion from Integrated ITS to Webdynpro

Hello,
We are starting a conversion from ITS ESS Services to the Webdynpro for Java Applications on the portal 7.0....I want to know that as a whole we have to understand the current ITS ESS services and the Customizations done ....and map them to the Webdynpro applications as a fresh implementation or there is something else to be done specifically ?...
Please let me know if there are any specific tasks to be done or steps to be followed.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

You won't find any content for the "old" Training & Events module in the latest ESS/MSS business packages - any standard content delivered in those typically relates to the newer Learning Solution (LSO) component.
You can just create a couple of custom IAC iViews that run services PV7I and PV8I on the integrated ITS, and put them in your ESS portal role.
Excerpt from note 870126:-
The following international ESS applications based on Standalone ITS have been or will be converted to integrated ITS Version 6.40, and can still be used with SAP ERP 2005. You can integrate these applications using ESS Homepage Customizing if required:

Webdynpro/BSP vs ITS

Hi Experts,
Have a basic question, if every transaction in SAP can be accessed with ITS without any new development why is that we need build BSP or Webdynpro pages?
I am sure there are some drawbacks of ITS but I was not able to find out more details.

ITS/SAPGUI For HTML creates an HTML version of the Classic Dynpro application - exactly as it was designed. This is good if you want to quickly enable web based access to these existing transactions, but you aren't necessarily getting a better designed application. Rebuilding the the UI in Web Dynpro gives you the ability to redesign the flow of the application and use UI elements and user interface concepts that don't exist in classic dynpro. Also the programming model is MVC and Object Oriented based - providing a better separation of layers and resulting in lower long term cost of maintenance over the classic dynpro model where business logic is often mixed directly into the PBO/PAI modules.

Call ITS Service from Webdynpro

Could somebody tell me how can I call an ITS Service from within a webdynpro? I've the following available with me.

Basically, I need to do something similar to the following (code snippet from a Portal Component)
